Welcome to projectiles in GW2. It also why we don’t have much hope from ‘changes are allowed after HoT goes live’. Betas are some of the few times where they actually listen and try to improve things.

On the topic of providing mass alacrity to other classes, has anybody looked into if this creates weird dps builds in other classes. I’m just imagining peoples minds being blown if Bearbow Ranger suddenly becomes the top dps build.

Yeah these were too passive, good thing Anet removed them and loaded a bunch of on hit/crit trits on other classes resulting in their auto attcks doing huge bursts when they randomly all proc at once.

I still think Illusionary Reversion was fine how it was at first. If people are going to sit on the PvP forums and whine that Mesmers can actually use their shatters then Anet can remove all resource generating skills from every class.

If trapper ranger had more condition application, more access to stealth, free choice of runes, threw out damage when they dodged and several benenificial traits that proced when they dodged/evaded then yeah.

i dont know of any condi thief builds that have more condition application than a trap ranger, unless they venom share the condis to 4 other people, and even then the ranger has probably got them beat.

Thats because its been in the game for less then a day.

Daredevil I honestly don’t know whether or not I have fought them. If I had they didn’t play massively differently than they normally do. Which leads me to believe they weren’t making the most of there new build. Ill wait on this until I start fighting thieves I can look at and think “Yeah this is a kittening daredevil”

The Daredevils I’ve fought seem to be ignoring the staff and using the line for condi builds, stealth, constant evades and condi spam is probably the most annoying build the game has seen yet.

Because mesmers are absolutely useless outside of 1v1~ /sarcasm

Where are they really useful outside of 1v1? Or to say, small-scale sPvP?
In wvw, they are roamers (1v1) or Veilbot/portalbot.. not useful.
In PvE.. are they in meta for other uses than portal-skipping/Reflect?
All of them are utilities.. not even one thing of our weapon skills are needed (well, if you have traited focus, then you can reflect.. but that’s meh)!

It really amazes me how out of touch people on these forums actually are about the game. They think becuase a mesmer one shot them in hotjoin becuase they were stood perfectly still in a berserker amulet spamming unload that Mesmers are great at every game mode and in every situation, completly failing to see the massive differences between the 3 game modes or even between a person who is good at PvP and them.

Oh i am sry, last time i checked mesmers were really good in conquest and were picked for tourneys. Heck, last tourney i won we had a mesmer. Portal is really good for team nukes, decaps, caps, rezzes with vamp rune/ele mist form. Slow/haste on stomps/rezzes is huge as well. Constant ranged pressure and lockdown, especially running pain train together with thief. I love aoe invul from shatter from teammates, it saved me many times. Invul is also great for stomps. Boon/stab strip on shatter. Stealth for teammates. Moa for target spike, preventing stomps, lord kills, removing rampage/plague etc.

Naaaah guize, mesmers are totally useless outside of 1v1. And i totally run p/p and spent my time in hotjoins after playing this game for 2+ years and few thousands of ranked matches. /sarcasm

If you want to sit around and whine that a Mesmer won’t stand there while you rapidfire it go to the PvP forums, you will find many like minded players. We are talking about everything the game offers here though.

The revenant sword 3 for example. Its basically “Im going to attack you four 4-5 seconds and there is litteraly nothing you can do to stop me except burn a cooldown…but evasion cooldowns won’t work cause Ill simply teleport to you.” Its extremely frustrating when im getting hit by this since the only thing I can do to actually stop it is pop signet of stone. If this skill actually had an aoe in which it was active but it would cancel if the target left that aoe I feel it would be okay. But even popping lightning reflexes doesn’t do much here.

Yeah there is a reason people hate rapidfire. Now you know how they feel ;-)

They all at least need lower cast times and Precog and Recall need redesigns really.

The rest could use a few adjustments/buffs but those are the main problems.

I will repeat. Fire fields and water fields only give might and healing. I am so tired of people who think 25 stacks of might and sudden burst healing is all this game is about.

I’m so tired of people who have a breakdown whenever people think of ways to buff Mesmer and make it useful outside of 1v1s.

You know, 40% cooldown reduction means you will use 40% more skills and deal 40% more damage longterm, right?

Considering most damage comes from auto attacks (or auto attcks and phantasm attacks for Mesmer), no it doesn’t.

rangers fine right now. it has to rely on AI less than forge and necro.

This is what Necros actually believe.

It always amazes me how Necros have managed to convince everybody else they are the most maligned class and always mange to insert themselves into any conversation about the strength/weakness of other classes when they have been Meta in WvW forever, have a great DPS build for dungeons, one of the better classes to carry a dungeon pug group and has been in high tier PvP much more often then Ranger has.

Even if you don’t consider the phantasm, the chronomancer’s shield 5 skill alone has higher damage output than the shield skills of any other profession. In general shields aren’t intended to be high DPS weapons. If the utility of the skills is lacking, that’s an area that can be tuned, but we don’t have any plans to really increase the damage that much.

That’s really nice from a game design point of view and since it’s common knowledge that mesmer in PvE is a damage beast, quite reassuring to know that devs consider the strengths and weaknesses of classes.

What? Mesmer PvE damage is terrible, even if you can keep up the phantasms.

Chronomancer / Domination / Illusions was something I was toying around with during the last test. Though I used different weapons/utilities and varied on the traits it still relied on Illusionary Reversion to keep a steady supply of clones up for shattering.

Unfortunatly they listened to forum whine by people who have no idea how the game actually works and in the next test Illusionary Reversion has been made less then useless, it now only gives you a clone when you have shattered two illusions. Hopefully they realise this and revert it but Mesmer has a bad track record of having traits killed with kneejerk nerfs and them being left like that for years.

Well you can either keep doing what you are doing and travel at the same speed and the trait will still give you reduction to length of movement impairing conditions or you can slot in another utility over the signet, spec out of PU if you want, not use stealth cds in hopes of getting more swiftness and get rid of whatever else you are equiping to get such high swiftness uptimes and get the movement speed from this trait.

So much kitten…

You guys realized that, no matter how it was going to go, two classes were going to be last, right? Ranger makes sense because we already knew we were getting Druid, and Engineer makes sense because it’s consistently been the hardest for them to develop for (considering how complicated the gameplay can be).

Stop whining and just wait for the content to come out…

You would have a point if they had just announced all 8 specs (with Rev stuff mixed in) in a row instead of taking breaks for weeks at a time with no HoT news nor updates to the base game and now we are 2 months out from release with 2 specs unannounced and no time for proper testing.

Then why haven’t they revealed the Druid and Forge?

In addition, balancing will continue after launch of HoT.

I still don’t like mantras because you have to leave yourself wide open to charge them and don’t get any immediate benefit from charging them unless you pick particular traits. On top of that, they still have cooldowns between charge usage so I don’t see the positive that offsets being so ridiculously vulnerable when charging. I honestly feel they would be better off as shouts.

Did anybody else see the new datamined Throwing Daggers utility for the Dare Devil and immediately think that Mantras should work that way instead? It’s almost the same functionality, but it’s much easier to balance without nerfing the skill into the ground.

Because the charges have an expiration time, the skill can be allowed to recharge in the background like our Mantras did for that one glorious month without the degenerate case of having six AoE Dazes in a row or whatever.

Of course other classes get a better Mantra mechanic then us…

I like how people are just casually saying Druid and Forge isn’t in a playable state yet like its no big deal.

Anet are still claiming a 2015 release. Even if we presume a 31st Dec release at 11:59pm that is still only 4 months. If Druid and Froge aren’t playable now it still doesn’t give us much hope for their level of polish/balance at launch.

This is coming from someone who has his highest hours played as a Ranger.

yes. as someone who mains thief, I’m not happy about these classes having less time to test. if it was guard or warrior getting 1/3 of the testing that some other classes get, I’d be pretty kittened for them too.

(this assumes only 3 total BWEs. the more we get post ranger/engi, the less relevant an argument this is)

But on the other hand do you really think anet is going to get any usefull and valuable feedback if they release an unfinished spec? (assuming it’s not ready)

You realize that they will continue taking feedback and making changes after HoT releases, right? It’s not like HoT will release and we are then stuck with whatever state Druids and Forges are in at that moment.

If took until the specialization revamp a few months ago to fix design flaws in classes that were being pointed out since Launch.

Them already playing favourites isn’t exactly filling people with confidence.

What about condition cleanse, was this fixed on Healing Spring?

HS works to cleanse condis.

The problem is if the initial heal from the skill brings you up to full hp, the trap portion which does the condition clear never triggers. They need to either add a condition cleanse to the initial skill activation, or make the HS traps also trigger if you have a condition on you.

So bascially…healing springs is still garbage.

Should have been elementalist considering how OP they are in all 3 games modes and how they are currently crying that the Tempest isn’t as OP as the rest of their stuff.
