And while you guys are happy to have the nerf bat hit heavily on the Chrono, the Tempest get another boost on almost everything, and not by small numbers…..

•Cyclone – Increased damage by 20%.
•Sand Squall – Now a blast finisher.
•Lightning Orb – Increased damage by 36%.
•Wildfire – Increased damage by 32%.
•Overload Air – Increased damage by 30% and increased the radius of effect from 240 to 360.
•Overload Earth – Increased damage by 50% and increased the immobilize upon end from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.
•Overload Fire – Increased the damage by 20% and increased the duration of burning applied per pulse from 2 seconds to 3 seconds.
•Overload Water – Increased the amount that healing power affects pulsed healing by 400%. Increased the final heal value by 50%.

Enjoy your nerfs, for me the Mesmer is now an even more useless class than it was before.

Hey know, Tempest forced the Eles to chose between damage and utility, we can’t have that! Those kind of choices are for the lesser classes like Mesmer.

Gravity well: Looks like it will be a better skill, going to miss making enemies fly off into space though.

Echo of Memory: Good changes I think it might be better if you lower the slow a bit more and increase the attack speed.

Well of Eternity: I think all wells could do with this

Chronophantasma: Not really sure if thats needed, if 1 sec isn’t enough for them to avoid it then they deserve to be hit. Also starts making it shakey if its worth taking this to get some shatters in dungeons.

Illusionary Reversion: Can you slap some asinine requirments on the resource generating traits of other classes too?

All’s Well that Ends Well: Well that seriously hampers our ability to actually fit wells on our bar unless all Chronos go inspiration as well. The stun break well is useless and we now have to bring null field/Resolve, leaving room for one utility well. I was thinking about this earlier and my thought was maybe replacing the vigor on Well of Eternity with remove a 1 or 2 conditions per pulse (and throwing this out there but with this change I thought of changing All’s Well that Ends Well into an increase to the end effects of wells, so more damage on calamity, more quickness on action etc). Looking forward to testing the alacrity changes though.

I think in general wells need some increase in power as well just to give them an extra kick and a complete rework on Precognition. I think Chronomancer has the same problem that the main class has, a bunch of interesting skills and traits but not quite there in effectiveness because of a reluctance to buff them due to the strength of our shatters in PvP, which is holding us back in PvE and large scale fights.

Like the entire post about alcrity and bouncing that people are now agreeing with but you threw a kitten fit at? Whats the point?

You’re not making any sense man! Make some sense!

I have the feeling people are greatly overestimting the Shield Phantasm and Alacrity in general in the various modes, unless soemthing gets buffed before release. If we go heavy into shattering (which Anet thinks is the only thing we should do) we will probably get a decent uptime on it for ourselves but they have already said they are going to negate this by giving a lot of Chronomancer skills long cds, we still have our base skills of course but even a lot of them are on long cds.

In terms of group support, which is what everybody is excited about and thinks will get us guaranteed slots everywhere, it looks rather lackluster. Well of Recall is a 45sec CD for 3 secs of alacrity and uses the worst combo field in the game which will get in the way of fire fields in pve. This will still be our best method of sharing it though.

The Shield Phantasms are going to have various problems in different parts of the game.

WvW Zergs – Useless like most phantasms.

PvE – Due to the blocking mechanic, will take longer to set up then normal phantasms. Hard to keep up due to abundance of aoes. As a support phantasm is unlikely to have particulary good damage so cuts into our dps. can’t control who it bounces and gives alacrity too, not sure on the number of bounces here though.

WvW group roaming – similar problems to PvE but on top of that the bouncing mechanic gets worse the more people you add with the projectile often ending up doing nothing as people move all over the place and it bounces off to nowhere.

Wait wait wait, so basically you said a bunch of stuff people had already said (for years) and expect it to be taken as new and edgy?

Not going to have much time to play it till Sunday but from the hour I spent doing the little intro thing and messing about in open world the skills are fun and definetly help there.

Lots of AoE, lots of quickness, sheild kittens harder and moves faster then I was expecting, nice alternative to DE, Quickness and alacrity on shatter is making me use shatters that aren’t Mind Wrack. Gravity well is bad but its fun watching enemies float.

I’m hoping for a quickness based rune set now.

Hopefully no half decent PvP build comes out of this so this stuff isn’t instntly nerfed and the PvEers can enjoy their new toys.

I agree with upsdn, listen to Robert Gee talk and he is hesistant to push things too far, his main concern seemed to be trying to make Mesmer balanced and not too strong. Unfortunatly if you listen to his colleagues on other classes, Guardian and Ele in particular, their main concern seems to be pushing thing to be as big, flashy and effective as possible.

Seeing as condie Mesmer is rather weak in every situation outside of a duel or solo roaming in wvw…yes, obviously. Let me guess though, you’re probably going to make a passionate rebuttal argument about how overpowered condie Mesmer is because you can’t beat it in a duel on your ‘insert non-dueling build here’.

Honestly I don’t even think its that, I’ve seen several people who have worked themselves into such a furore over the typical power shatter burst that they honestly believe that nerfing anything on Mesmer, even if its nothing to do with that build, is fair and will help balance them.

In my opinion Mesmer defenses are way to strong. Take a glass LB Ranger and a glkittenter Mesmer both are super squishy and neither has much condi clear. Both have an invun (a mesmer can distort twice in a fight if it has to with shatter rechange at 50% health whereas a ranger can only get it once. Unless you give up two utility slots which would be stupid.) and both have stealth but the mesmers stealth is 10 times better. For a ranger in order to get 3 seconds of stealth you have to hit with hunters shot and if you dont your dead where as ALL of a mesmers 28 seconds of stealth are on command. Its not a projectile and it cant miss or fail. On top of all that mesmer has WAY more mobility with its teleports and it bursts harder. Its actually frustrating how much Anet gave Mesmer and then to see Mesmer plays still kittening that Mesmer arnt strong enough. My adivse to all you whining mesmers is try playing a class that is actually isent in a good spot and then see if you can still kitten.

Well for starters you are comparing Mesmer to one of the worst classes in the game who most everybody agrees needs extra work.

2 Mesmers don’t have that trait anymore so immediatly you are revealing you don’t know anything about the class.

If giving up 2 Utility slots for double invuln on ranger is too much then all the things you need for 28 secs of stealth def are.

Mesmers who complain they aren’t strong enough 99.9% of the time they are talking about PvE, where open world content is frustrating at best and dungeons boils down to ‘equip portal and stay out of our way’. Some people have such a huge chip on their shoulder about pvp Mesmer though that the thought of people asking they be made viable in PvE sends them into a rage though.

My most played class in PvP is Ranger btw.

Even if (I should probably rather say ‘when’) CS and PU are brought back to sanity, mesmer will still be much better off then prior to the June patch. You are kidding yourself if you think that it is now balanced after just this nerf.

So when PU is ‘brought back to sanity’ will you also be demnading a look into Theif and their higher stealth access?

Oh HoT will be so awesome, we’ll get to see in what creative ways they’ll nerf Chrono into uselessness 2 weeks after release!…or maybe even before it ships!

They’ll decide that F5 and Alacrity were too powerful and remove both without adding any other features.

They’ll just add it to Elementalist instead of Chronomancer.

And add a bunch of damage modifiers because eles were complaining they might have to sacrifice damage for utility like the pleb classes.

With 4 bounce, the damage coef would be 2.1 which is pretty dang close to thief’s BS of 2.4.

Honestly PvP is just kittening me off at the moment. I can do well in it but everywhere its 20 stack burns from Guard and eles, permaevading theifs with a million stun breaks, eles with higher damage mobility and sustain then the pre patch cele ele and retaliation by itself making it almost imposible to play a power ranger but no apprently its Mesmer that needs all the nerfs because reasons…

The thought that they ever thought this would become an esport is laughable.

I just don’t see why Mantras need the charge up time when there are tons of instant cast skills in this game with strong or stronger effects. With CD in the background it made sense but now its just another case of Mesmers having to jump through hoops to get effects half as good as other classes.

My speculation is Pet Swap changes functionality so you play as your pet and the AI takes over your Ranger.

Jokes aside, I don’t know what to speculate. All I can do is hope “it doesn’t suck.”

An AI Ranger sitting back at 1500 rapid firing while you rush in mauling your enemies would be pretty cool.

The whining is pretty ridiculous. Effects aren’t comparable cross-class. Just because one class has a 20% modifier doesn’t mean that other classes should have the same or better.

Not only was auto attack damage designed with the idea of having 3 phantasms out constantly somehow, the numbers havn’t really changed much since early beta where clones did the same auto attack damage as you.

I kinda feel like we’re back to Anet’s typical approach, which is to nerf all the side stuff in a build until it’s “fair” because the core gimmick is still there and just as busted as ever, but the rest of the class mechanics now suck. Which leaves you with one not-so-OP-anymore gimmick build and nothing else.

Yeah we have seen this before. Expect condi damage, phantasm damage, survivbility, utility, dps in dungeons all to take a nerf and then some cd increases, icds, general tweaks to make skills/traits less fun before they touch whats causing the QQ about shatter Mesmer (CS and class not called theif using stealth) then Mesmers will be back to where they were before the rework, useless in PvE, veil bots in WvW and a serviceable burst build for mid teir PVP that non mesmer hotjoiners will insist is meta and needs to be nefed more.

Failry indepth account of why I think a certain mechanic won’t be that great, usual suspect barge in to tell me to kitten off for not agreeing with them adding nothing to the conversation. Mesmer forums in a nut shell ladies and gentlemen.

Ayway what exactly did I say that was wrong about the trait redesigns?

I said power shatter was getting a buff and guess what, its our meta build still.

I said the changes were lackluster and guess what, Anet agreed and redid a whole load of them adding a whole lot of interesting traits and changing ones that seemed questionable and improving some of our skills. Not much point in quitting if Anet listens to the players and changes what you had a problem with and I was very vocal about how happy I was with the second draft of the trait redesign.

I guess I under estimated the effects of CS combined with a buff to mantras that we didn’t know was coming but if you think that is enough to act like a giant kitten then I suggest you leave your basement once in a while.

ITs pretty unlikely Druids will go with transformations/kits/anything of the sort. In the Chronomancer blog post Druid was specifically mentioned as a spec that is tied heavily to its new weapon.

It’s fun for you, and it’s nothing near fun for other people playing versus mesmer with 30% unjustified damage where you can to easily apply conditions and shatter damage on satter mesmer.. while not even geting punished for it. You just apply condis on poor thing, then hide, while the target trying to find you, specially melee will die jsut by standing, and even faster by searching for you.

PU mesmers is number one on my favourite nerf list.
Next one is new “EAZ PZ SHATTER THIS” build.. where requires to press 3 buttons very quickly to make 14k damage. This is not how it should be, every class has insane cast time to make this happend, and then execution, mesmer can deal that damage within 2 second time lapse from casting to damage done, which includes also walking to the target.

2ND on my favourite list is shatter nerf which can deal 22k damage on target with 3,3k ARMOR and 26k HP. Is this single rotation justified ? No.

I’m not having desire to nerf anything to the ground, all i want is equal balance, and fair play. Both PU and shatter hit way to hard, and both are having little to no counter in 1v1 2v1, people say don’t exegerate but my friend yesterday outplayed 2v8, killed 3 and got away with Shatter mesmer, came back and killed the other 4 trying to ress those pore guys. Keep in mind they were all above silver, so those were not some bronze scrubs that just made virgin steps into WvW.

NOTE: some builds are out of place, some are very weak, and my desire is that every style should have a chance to be played, and at least little viable, and every build should have counter by every profession not just D/D ele.

And i thought it was bad when people claimed PU gives you 20 stacks of might.

You can nerf Mesmers into the ground but that won’t change the fact that the Ranger changes were pretty lackluster.

Anyway my advice is there are more trait lines then Marksmenship and Skirmish, there are more stat combos then Berserker and there are more weapons then longbow.
