There’s nothing that you can do about the contacts as they are account bound not individual to characters. With regard to your guild, you don’t have to represent the guild with your alternative character and you can go find a different guild for that character to join or choose to not represent any guild at all.

Unfortunately for you, to truly be able to separate yourself from contacts you’ve already made you would either need to ‘unfriend’ them or buy a second copy of the game and create a 2nd account.

Hi, you can’t access your bank from a merchant (coins over head) only from a banker (marked by a money bag) or a crafter (marks depend on craft, e.g tailor, chef, jeweller, etc).
To move craft-able materials (leather, jute, various enemy drops like bones, totems, etc) you need to click the little cog wheel that is located at the top right of you inventory screen. Choose ‘deposit all collectibles’ and this will move them out of your inventory and store them in you bank in its own craft-able area that doesn’t take up your normal bank spaces.

EDIT: you can move your crafting items to the bank anytime from anywhere just by clicking the cog in your inventory window. To deposit/withdraw cash or put non-craftable items into your bank you need to talk to either a banker or a crafting master at a crafting station.

Gunnar’s Hold is another 99% english speaking server. Nice friendly bunch we are too.

Never one to turn down an opportunity… Thank you OP, very generous offer.

Salvaging items like low level light armour, tattered rags, etc. You can buy salvage kits from some merchants, stick to the cheapest ones for salvaging most things for crafting mats.
Higher level things can be salvaged for higher level drafting mats like wool, etc.

Both contain posts from people looking for similar things to you, just someone to buddy up with now and again, a mutally benefical relationship.

In game most of us (dependent on server) find that giving a shout out in map chat asking if anyone wants to run together for exploration or event completion works. Best results come from linking in a waypoint to your post so people can jump straight to where you are.

If you’re posting on the forum looking for people to run with let us know what server you are on.

PS: Oh, I forgot to mention my pet Cuddles, a carrion devourer, and the funniest thing from last evening was Lexy killing a bunny!! Good thing we were not on voice chat, cos I couldn’t stop laughing after I saw that!

Lol, bunnies and raccoons are great to kill for your ‘overkill’ achievement as they have no defence – but that bunny laid on a dramatic death scence for our benefit. And yes, having someone who could provide combo finishes was excellent – more research in this area is needed I think.

Just finished running around Tyria with my new friend Bri (who I met through Glitch’s New Player thread) – got 100% on Gendarran Fields map, levelled a couple of times and was able to squirrel away some money in my bank at the end of it all. A very good evening and it was great to have company for it all.

If there is no direct enemy/aggro you can always try to stow your weapons. This is a keybind you have to set up yourself but I find it useful – especially when there are enemies in the area who can’t get you but who obviously trigger you into combat mode.

Did it not occur to you Glitch that all of us are off doing good in Tyria…

Sorry, I can’t answer that as I’ve not been involved in a server guild transfer myself. Hopefully someone else on here might be able to answer.

Thanks for clarifying, looks like I’ll be memorising a few of these to redo every so often – not sure I’m as dedicated as Mercury to redo them every day.

Oh that’s good to know, I thought they were a one-off. Does anyone know if the loot is scaled to your level or if each jumping puzzle is levelled to the map area its in?

Thanks, I totally agree that the game isn’t going anywhere if we want to take our time back-tracking, exploring, farming, etc. I am also working right now…(not very hard you might have gathered!) and I might be playing tonight depending on whether the other half wants to watch football or not…If I’m on I’ll whisper you and see what you’re up to.

My main is a female sylvari elementalist, but I’m also working up a male human thief.

Is your asura a male? (sorry, its difficult to tell). Perhaps it is a differnence between male and female versions of the armour rather than a difference between races?

Hi All (this is probably going to be longer than I think!)

As I account for more than one of the 1500+ views this thread has had to date I thought I’d chip in with my experience.

I’ve been a console gamer for years but this is my first MMO and luckily I have a friend who has played MMO’s for years who got me into GW2 and has lead me through the early stages alongside her friends. More and more I find that no-one I know from our very small guild (6 ppl) is online at the same time as me and so I run around solo, exploring and occasionally running with other players to do DE, Champion fights or tricky skill points.

Having kept up with this thread from the start I have now begun to use map chat to let others know if I am running for a particular skill point, if I see a DE start or sometimes just to let ppl know that I’m new to the map and running round exploring if anyone wants to joinup.

As I think is demonstrated by most others posting here, this has had some success (more success than failure I’m pleased to report) and particularly now I’ve learnt how to link waypoints into map chat I do find that players respond – especially for big DE’s but also for areas with mobs that require a few people to succeed. Likewise, if I’m just in the area exploring and I see someone else post that something is going on or they need some help then I tend to turn-up and lend a hand – it never takes me far out of my way and usually the loot/karma/exp/map rewards are totally worth the effort.

As I’ve now worked my main up to level 36 the next thing I want to try is dungeons, although I might level a few more times first. Reading people’s experiences here of dungeons and finding groups has been both educational and reassuring – so hopefully soon I will be able to report back with some positive experience of my own.

I am on Gunnar’s Hold and would be reluctant to move server as this is where my few RL/GW2 friends are based, but if there are any thread readers on Gunnar’s Hold who want to add me as a contact and join-up if we’re ever online at the same time then please feel free. Because I don’t necessarily want to move server the idea of a cross-server guild is great, especially if, as akamon says, you could rep when you had the time to focus on helping rather than running your personal story. I will watch this thread with interest to see what becomes of this idea – I certainly have some donations for the guild vault as (as in real life) I have trouble throwing anything away!

it seems that the Marksman’s set is available across the first 19 lvls of the personal story for medium armour professions – although I can’t see the boots listed. Perhaps you can roll a new character and collect them again, then transmute the look to something account bound and transfer to your main via the bank (I’ve heard this works but you might want to seek confirmation from someone who’s actually done it).

This might help – although it doesn’t give you definitive answers. I’ve definately had the legs as the personal storyline reward for my lvl 8 human thief – they were called Marksman’s leggings.

I suppose its hard because not everybody can be playing at the same time due to work, etc. It might be ok to form a group for a little while but sooner or later one or more of the group will move on and level faster, complete areas whilst others aren’t playing.
Perhaps you could post in the Guild forum here to see if any guilds on your server promote levelling and exploring as guildie activities?

Have you tried posting this on your map chat as well, at least then you’d be talking to people who are definitely playing on your server?

I was just about to ask which server you were on. Shame really as I would definately be interested in joining a similar party, but alas, I’m on Gunnar’s Hold. I hope you find what you’re looking for.

I can’t locate this skill challenge near Kraitbane Haven – wiki says to commune with the Krait Altar but I can’t find it. Does anyone know if it’s above or below water? Thanks.
