I presume so, I haven’t actually been in game since the patch but here is the patch note for it.

•In PvE, if a player is awarded loot by killing a creature and the loot is of uncommon rarity or higher, a chest will appear that contains the loot that would previously have been on the corpse. If the rarity of the loot on the creature is lower than uncommon, the loot will remain on the creature’s corpse.

Mob drops with items higher than uncommon rarity will now drop a chest rather than the items be lootable from a glittery corpse – its in the patch notes from yesterday.

As far as I know you can transmute karma armour, but if it is the level 80 stuff from the temples in Orr you will need a fine transmutaiton stone rather than a basic one.

I admit to being a little disappointed myself as I have just started collecting mats for my legendary and was levelling a character to live on Southsun Cove and do the same as you. At least you had two weeks of extra Ori collection, good luck with your trinkets

It is listed in the patch notes from yesterday so yes everyone is equally affected. A shame I know to have to leave the confines of the dank Karka cave and see the world, but hey – stuff happens.

Assuming you mean the crafting profession boxes, they are apparently a

“One-time account purchases that contain everything you’ll need to get your feet wet in each of the eight crafting disciplines.”

I presume this is the info you get when hovering over the item, the description is taken from the Dulfy guide

So I imagine it contains a set amount of tier one crafting materials – although how many they determine is enough to get your feet wet we will just have to wait and see.

They’ve called it a living story, it is not a one-time only event but it also reads as if the content will advance and move on as the story unfolds. How quickly this will happen I don’t know, it may be that some events added this time will be removed and advanced in the next patch to further the story along.

If it was me with a character who had not yet explored those areas, I would make them my focus for the next couple of weeks, getting there and exploring, taking part in the new story-related events and working towards this new Volunteer title. Other than that we’ll just have to wait and see what they have planned for the story and how they will introduce the changes. They are also introducing heralds who are supposed to keep you updated with any changes in the story – you jsut have to make sure to talk to them (at the time of posting heralds are not yet present in the game)

LIVING STORY
Flame and Frost: Prelude
A mystery presents itself in this first entry in a multipart Living Story series. What could be causing such discord in the foothills of the Shiverpeaks? All those poor homesteaders and ranchers displaced with nowhere to go calls into question if the storms could be that bad—or if there’s something more sinister stirring up the flame and frost. The ground is shaking, and the sky is falling in northern Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau. Norn and charr refugees, crawling from the wreckage of their homes, are fighting their way to shelter in Hoelbrak and the Black Citadel. Many are in shock and wounded; most have only what they can carry on their backs. A call has gone out for volunteers to assist them in their time of need, when the environment itself seems to have become their enemy.

Achievements
•A new Living Story achievement category has been added, which will contain a series of achievements specific to the storylines unfolding in Tyria.
•The first Living Story achievement, Refugee Volunteer, has been added. Players who complete this achievement by playing the Flame and Frost: Prelude content will be rewarded with the Volunteer title. They will also receive a karma reward via in-game mail.
•More achievements will be added as the Living Story continues to unfold.

Events
•New Living Story events have been added to Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau.

Heralds
•Starting shortly after the January 28^th^ update, heralds will begin appearing in cities across Tyria. Their task is to keep adventurers apprised of the events currently underway that are driving the Living Story forward. Be sure to check in with them if you need direction.

Other Content
•Persistent world content related to the story of the refugees has been added to Wayfarer Foothills, Diessa Plateau, the Black Citadel, and Hoelbrak. This content will continue to change and evolve as the story unfolds, so be sure to keep checking back.

You can always rename your tabs and manually choose the chat content that goes in each to match the name accordingly. There’s a little drop down next to each tab that offers the different types of chat – just tick those that apply.

Ok, here’s a follow up question. If you equip a precursor to one character but you want your legendary on a different character how does it work?

I’m assuming the character who has had the precursor equipped will have to actually make the legendary (i.e. combine the gifts+precursor in the forge) because the precursor will at that point be soulbound. Once the legendary has been made it is soulbound on acquire and can be placed in the bank for another character to collect and equip? Can anyone confirm my thinking is correct?

But, at the end of the day it might be easier for you to open your world map (wherever you are standing, you don’t have to revisit each area in order to check) and zoom in until the area names in white show up and then start checking them off the list on the link I posted before – map by map for Kryta. On the Bluestone lists the area names are always listed as if read from the top of each map in the order they appear.

The PvP version is called Masquerade but in PvE the Masquerade set is actually one of the light crafted sets which looks nothing like this. This ‘Tribal’ version, as someone already replied is yet to be released in PvE.

Is it level 80? In which case you need a fine rather than basic transmutation stone.

Explorer achievement and map completions are two different things. You get the Explorer achievement for ‘discovering’ all of the areas which are named in white on the maps. Map completion is achieved through the discovery of all poi’s, way points, skill points and hearts.

So it is possible to have not discovered an area named in white – try checking your maps against this list.

Edit: One of the common ones missed for the Krytan explorer is the 2nd discocvery of the Order of Whispers headquarters in Bloodtide Coast, triggered when you enter the headquarters via the Asura gate from Fort Trinity in the Straits of Devastation.

The green point I assume is your personal story, keep up with this as you get to the appropriate level and in between explore the map you are on, participate in any dynamic events going on near you (usually circled in orange with some info on what needs doing), find points of interest, seek out amazing vistas, unlock way points and complete NPC hearts for experience.

You will level quite quickly and you will get gear from completing personal story chapters, map completions and mob drops. You can also buy gear using the karma you earn during dynamic events. Try to keep your gear within about 5-10 levels of your actual level but don’t worry about it too much – wait to worry about gear when you reach 80 You can craft your own gear as you go too, find the crafting stations in one of the main cities or starter area maps – but its best to have gathered some materials from your travels before you start crafting.

Most of all have fun, explore, help out others as you go round. The wiki is really informative and a good quick reference guide.

You could always hang on to them until you find another exotic piece you don’t want and through them in the forge. You’ll only get one exotic piece in return but at least you can sell that and recoup some gold.

The only thing that this choice influences (as far as I am aware) is what your initial face mask looks like and depending on which race you have chosen some will be more obvious then others. I don’t think the choice changes any of the personal storylines you may come across.

Looking at the pictures on the original thread I would say it is account based (as in only two guest worlds per account at any one time) but that you choose which character you visit either world with. Each time you want to guest over to somewhere you have to go back to the character select screen anyway so you can make your choice then.

Like many I tend to salvage whites, vendor blues and either vendor or TP greens. Yellows and oranges have to be treated on a case by case basis, depending on whether my need for salavge, money or gear is greatest at that time.

One note if you are selling items on the TP is just to make sure you are getting a profit as opposed to vendoring. Sometimes they’ll be an offer on the item for 1-2c above the vendor price, but selling it for this actually give you less money than the vendor after you have paid the sales tax. Always compare the value shown as your return profit from selling an item rather then the value you list it for against the vendor value before deciding where to sell.

Potions, tuning crystals, sharpening stones and maintenance oils all count as utility buffs in my experience. Food items (either crafted by a Chef or purchased from Karma vendors) provide the only food nourishment buffs.

I don’t know about guild benefits whilst guesting but it has been confirmed that your home server guild will received the influence accrued whilst guesting.

Hi, is it possible to get confirmation on whether unaccepted invites automatically expire after a given period? We (Legion of Honour [XIII] – a cross server/region guild) had about 15-20 unaccepted invites in our roster and yesterday they all popped up at the same time to say that those people had left the guild.

We had recently hit our (at the time ) 200 member limit and wondered if maybe someone excepting an old invite caused the system to boot all the other unaccepted invites to make room, or if there is an automatic expiration.

Anyway, would be happy to provide more info and screenies if necessary – would love some clarification though – thanks.

@Eatyourwar – I am sorry that you did not find our group to be what you were expecting and I was online during your time in chat so I did see the conversation.

Operation:Union is not about hand-outs of money and mats and we have never advertised ourselves as such. We are a group that believes in offering help where it is needed but this is help with exploring, levelling, WvW, Dungeons – basically whatever people need in order to understand and appreciate the game. We are about having fun, not rolling a character and crafting it straight to 80 with mats or money that you receive from other people.

Like I said, I am sorry that you did not find what you were looking for with our group, we wish you well with your adventures in Tyria.

There was a thread, started before Christmas I think, which had a long list of acronyms and abbreviations used in game along with their definitions. I have searched the whole forum using every keyword I can think of and can’t find it now – perhaps someone else will have more luck but if it still exists it would save you a lot of work Mercury if you decided to go ahead with the project.

Hi, unfortunately there is no way to do what you are asking. Weapon skills are fixed to the assigned positions and can’t be moved around.

There are 13, but it’s possible that at some time the OP took the asura gate from Divinity’s Reach to Ebonhawke and did the 3 hearts in and around there without venturing out into the rest of the Fields of Ruin map – which would leave them with 10 to get there.

@Donari – unfortunately personal story instances do not work cross-server. But you can party with people on your own server and they can enter the instance with you.

This is a good guide to help you get your head around gearing your first level 80.

This guide lists 166 areas for Maguuma so try checking against this. Be sure to click on the [show] link and not the area name to get the proper list up.

I mean at level 14 my Personal story expects me to go into a level 25 zone, what the heck is that, lmao.

I’ve done several different racial personal stories and none have taken me into a level 25 zone at level 14. What you will find is that around level 14 your personal story will move into the next map which ranges from level 15-25. Your story will take place at the level 15 end of the map, not the 25 end.

You don’t have to revisit areas, just open up your world map and zoom into each area until you can see the names in white. Check them against the list on the link above, they usually read left to right starting at the top of the map and working down.

Krytan explorer does contain two cities (Divinity’s Reach and Lion’s Arch) as well as Claw Island which you can only get through a chapter in your personal story.
