Personally I hold down my right mouse button and use ‘a’ and ‘d’ as strafe controls for direction and ‘s’ for forward motion. As holding down the right mouse button basically controls the camera, most of the time I am using my mouse to determine the path of my character by moving the camera. My character is always running in a straight line and I turn the world around them to point them where they need to go.
Out of interest,
how do you move (and dodge) backwards?
I double tap the directional keys (wasd)

As for skills, I have most mapped to buttons on my mouse which means I maintain more control over fine movements as my fingers aren’t off s, a and d as much. I have remapped other commands to be on keys easily accessed by my thumb or little finger, again this means my left hand rarely leaves its place on the keyboard.
I can’t imagine clicking a skill on screen to activate it, especially if its an aoe that you then need to aim and click again. Before playing GW2 my gaming experience was largely console based and I had no idea how to mouse turn, remap keys, kite, etc. Some of them were steeper learning curves than others but it all feels very natural to me now.
I hope you find some tips and tricks that help you feel more in control.
The jade weapons vendor will most likely stick for a long time, though, probably at least as long as someone has the chance to get one (as in, as long as there are still unopened coffers in circulation). After all, the vendor for the christmas skins is still there, for example.
That vendor is now a permenant addition who will hold all event skins for you to redeem your tickets (confirmed on a recent livestream interview) – not sure if the sclerite weapons will be added or whether that vendor will stay on Southsun.
‘Hero’ is a term used to describe the featured or primary image in a web page, often a banner image across the top of the page, but it could be placed elsewhere.
That aside, I’m pretty interested to see what the next release has in store for us.
I am counting that as my ‘thing I learnt today’ -thanks for taking the time to post
I am also looking forward to the next patch, should be interesting.
The dragon coffers will not drop after the event is over, I’m assuming this will be true for the holo wings as well – although there will be a supply of both available in the TP from those that are already in circulation.
Are you sure you have completed every racial City and LA in entirety?
They are working on it now. There are other sources but this was the first one I came across.

Lexy, for male they almost look identical!!! sry I didn’t mention that earlier…
Haha, so they do – I’d never looked at the male version in any detail, but I can see your dilemma now
I have a copy of the game, purchased in the UK, and play on a US server. Fairly sure you can choose a US server during set up, although it’s been a while since I set up my account.
I am assuming you are a pvp’er because your traits allocation is more favored towards survivability then dps. Would’nt it be better to go fire/air route if you want to maximize your damage and crit chance?
And 2ndly you said either go Power/precision or condition, do you mean that power doesn’t play any significant role for earth spec? I know earth is based on bleeds and DoTs but doesn’t power increase your eruption damage and eventually dots? Maybe wrong here….
Actually no, apart from a bit of WvW I am purely PvE. Yes my traits favour survivability, but my gear provides the power/pre/crit. As Meglobob says, ele’s are squishy and you need your survivability to come from somewhere. You can do it the other way round, draw your direct damage from your traits and use your gear to up your survivability (toughness, vit) – it is entirely up to you. Or, if you are confident in your skills to survive you can also go full berserker in everything.
Power doesn’t effect dot, that’s what your condition damage stat is for. Power may increase damage done by a secondary feature of the same attack. So, for example, Eruption (earth 2 on the staff) does bleed damage over time and it also does a direct damage hit. Any dot above the base damage listed is influenced by your condition damage stat, any direct damage above the base will be influenced by your power. Stacks of Might you may have on you will affect both direct and dot.
That is a very expensive build …
Yes it is, but that has been a labour of love for many months. My ele was my first 80, my main and first in the queue for exotic and ascended kit when money allows. And I probably wouldn’t kit another character out with superior divinity again, they weren’t as expensive when I started…
Builds take time and tweaking, so having a plan for your end point gear is good but should be seen as something to work towards, at least that’s how I approach it with each of my characters.
You can only transfer your existing character to a new server if you pay a transfer fee – all characters on your account must reside on the same server. You can delete all chracters from your account (basically start from scratch) and move server for free, I suggest you research your new server options and make your mind up before doing this. Also, make sure you put anything from your existing character/inventory into the bank before you delete them.
You can however guest for free now, so you can reinstall, load up your level 80 and go and try out some other servers before deciding where to move and whether to pay the fee or delete and move for free.
Welcome back
Exalted and karma armour don’t look alike. The advantage of crafting your own armour is that you can choose from a wider range of stat combinations then is available from the temple vendors.

Karma – http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/karma/light/display.php

My advice would be to choose between either power/precision or condition damage – you seem to have a mix of the two which means neither of them are really performing to their best.
I used to favour condition damage and used carrion armour and a sigil of corruption, but I found that whilst soloing in particular waiting for dot (damage over time) from conditions to kill something usually meant it could still do me a lot a damage whilst alive.
Recently I called on a guild member to help me revise my build and she advised focussing more on power/precision and crit – I changed my armour from carrion to knights, made a couple of trait adjustments and away I went. Whilst I won’t say that my original condition damage build was terrible or wrong (it was a lot of fun to play), I will admit it wasn’t the most effective for my playstyle and I’m glad I changed it around.
Here’s a link to pretty much what I’m using at the moment – it shows traits, armour and accessories to give you the fuller picture. This trait build is good for me as well because when I do want to go D/D I can quickly change a couple of trait selections to turn it into an aura-sharing build.
I would also add that the Arcana trait line does have some particular nice features that a lot of ele’s would swear by, in particular evasive arcana, and for staff users there is blasting staff which gives you a larger aoe.

Bouncers are on their way
The staff is not the best dps weapon, but it perfectly able to provide enough dps to survive soloing with it as you main weapon – if, as mercury points out, you are geared, traited appropriately.
Whether you want to label me lazy or forgetful I have used staff about 95% of 1000+ hours on my ele, all the way through levelling and through dungeons and WvW, and it is my go to weapon for most situations.
As mercury says, we would need more specifics on your current build to offer specific advice. Just don’t give up on your ele – we are awesome
It may be 9AM where you are RedFang, but if you read the posts above you will see that the fireworks start at 9AM PDT – we’d need to know what timezone you are in to tell you when they will start for you.
9th of July – as mentioned at the end of the first paragraph.

Ends July 9th
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/june-11-2013/ – mentioned at the end of the first paragraph.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that there are bits of the festival or activities which won’t end before then.
Yep, holograms are on every map except for Orr and Southsun, don’t know why they only listed specific ones in the patch notes?
I’m female too and despite trying I haven’t been able to drag my fiance away from his PS3 to enjoy the awesome that is GW2 – his loss.
This thread will probably clarify what S P stands for, if you want to know.

Yes and if you do the same to the Dragon Bash release picture you get…
1e256Dragon-Bash-CurrentHero_NA
perhaps ‘hero’ is just a term they use to label releases?
Yes please, account bound fireworks would be greatly appreciated.
The queen event and armour seller are going to be a permanent addition to the Southsun map, so still accessible after the Dragon Bash patch arrives.
Edit: that being said, if you are looking for a server where she is active just so you can go kick her in the shin I suggest you check out this handy table – this is the NA one, you may need to select EU.

It could be interpreted either way imo. Either that you get a helm each time you stay thru a finale or you get a helm one time only. It will depend if they keep with the Guild Wars 1 model or if they change it.
In the twitch livecast video they did he mentions that watching the fireworks once will give you chest containing all three versions (light, medium, heavy) of the helm. Think it was in the first video but here are both links, the second one really focuses on Dragon Ball.

Thanks for the response Electro. I knew that Evon was still providing the fused weapons as I get that option if I talk to him when carrying my ticket, I don’t have a ticket for a Wintersday weapon so didn’t realise he also offered these and this is not included in his information in the wiki either.
He currently has no option to redeem a sclerite weapon ticket but perhaps he might if they remove the NPC from Southsun. I suppose this was the reason for my post, some official confirmation that this is the plan for these and all future special redeemable tickets.
Thanks again, I’ve decided to hang on to my sclerite ticket until I level my necro enough to know what weapon I want – fingers crossed I can still get it then.
That outfit is also worn by Sister Brenda, the NPC who triggers the ‘Protect the brew shipment’ event in Queesndale. It’s a confident religious order that issues fishnets to its priestesses.
Sorry, the flame and frost content of the living story has ended and is no longer available (whether it may come back as playable content in future is currently unconfirmed).
The living story has moved on to the two content updates focussing on Southsun Cove – this part of the story, achievements and rewards are available for a few more days yet – the event ends on 10th/11th June. So if you want to take part in those parts of the living story there is still some time.
I recommend you visit dulfy.net to have a look at her guides to the content and pick out the bits that you might want to do if your time is limited. Although it should be possible to complete all the achievements and tasks for this part of the story in the few days that you have left.

Moa racing (betting game/ 9-rings replacement) will be permanent. Already verified by a Red Post.
Oh yes, so they have – totally missed that one – thanks.

The information available so far says that the DB event will end on July 9th.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/june-11-2013/
It would seem from this that some parts are only available within a limited window within the overall event (like the Fireworks 14th-17th June) whereas others are available the whole time. I doubt that moa racing will be available after the event finishes unless they choose to make it a permanent city game.
Not sure where you read that something was happening this weekend but here is all the information we have so far – it does start on the 11th.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/june-11-2013/
I didn’t really know which forum to post this in to get an Dev response, but as the skins/tickets have been connected to the Living Story so far I guess this is a good spot.
I’ve seen dev confirmation that the fused gauntlet tickets from the F&F story arc are redeemable at any point in the future. Can we get confirmation about the lifespan of other weapon skin tickets – namely (at the moment) fused weapons and sclerite weapons?
For those who’ve managed to find tickets for these but haven’t redeemed them yet, do we need to worry about these skins becoming unavailable at some point? Or will there always be a merchant or Evon Gnashblade to exchange them? Fused weapons are still available but will Sclerite ones disappear on 11th june when the Southsun arc ends?
If I’ve missed confirmation of this in another thread I’d be grateful for a link, but I’ve searched and I haven’t seen anything. Any Dev willing to confirm their intentions for these skins?
Thanks
There are no specific skill appearance changes listed on the wiki for Bifrost, whereas for other legendaries where I know they occur they are individually listed. So based on that I would say no, Bifrost doesn’t make any appearance changes to skills.
Looks like the Order of Whispers coat, leggings and boots (no shoulder or headpiece on show).
You can add more than one picture per post, just follow the instructions given above and after adding one file choose the preview option. It will confirm your first picture has been attached and give you a second ‘Choose file’ button to add another pic. You can repeat this to add several pics (not sure if there’s a cap).
Glad you got them, happy I could help.
Thank you for saying you will resolve this. I completed story before the patch but explore afterwards.
The fused weapon vendors were still there in LA; a vigil weapons guy on the refugee beach and Evon Gnashblade upstairs in the Trading Post. Not sure if there are any outside of LA I haven’t checked.
I sincerely hope that they at least leave Evon as a contact point for any ‘exclusive’ ticket item to be exchanged at any point from the relevant event until the end of time. I have a fused weapon ticket and no idea which weapon or character I want it for…yet. At the point when I decide I hope to find Evon Gnashblade still willing to exchange my ticket.
Offical confirmation of how they plan to handle tickets like this and future exchanges would be appreciated.
So can I ask what you have in the #9 slot which triggers when you cast Confusing Images (3 on your sceptor)? I am now thoroughly intrigued.
Oh I see, so when you cast 3 you also cast 9 as well? Pretty sure that shouldn’t happen, goes against the ‘1 button = 1 action’ rule. Is it with a specifc mesmer weapon set and specific utility skill on #9 or can you swap things around and it still happens? As far as I know you can only have auto-cast set on one skill – will be interested to see a pic of your UI when you get a chance later.
The problem with trek is that of deciding who to reward. The first person on site closes that location, does only the first person get a reward or the entire guild online at that time? Badly implemented, but I am not happy with the entire guild activities implementation anyway.
Yes, I agree that this is probably the main reason they don’t award commendations. The allocation of a ‘reward chest’ for this type of mission would be tricky. If as a guild you have a range of players with restricted access to some maps, whilst others may have full world exploration, it would be difficult to ensure that everyone participating gets a chance to interact with a trek location to get their chest. By the time you’ve organised who is going where to trigger which location you will be running out of time.
Also, it excludes guld members who reside on other servers, as they cannot see or interact with the Trek points when they guest over to the host server.
All of this does beg the question why these are part of the guild mission catalogue, apart from the inital co-ordination this activity is largely a free for all with very little opportunity or need for group tactics or communication. We only run them for the small amount of merits that goes towards unlocking the later stages. Once we have finished building Guild Puzzles we will probably not run treks again – and they are really expensive on way point costs for members when they get nothing ‘rewarding’ in return.
For your autocast on skill 3 you’ve probably just accidentally set that up during the heat to battle. To put it back on #1 or take autocast off completely you click the skill with ctrl+right mouse button.
Not sure about your #9 – have you actually unlocked it – is your mesmer at a high enough level (20+) to put a skill in that slot of the UI? Not being familiar with the problem you describe I’d probably have to see a screen shot to offer any further suggestion.

Try this site, it uses the new access to API to identify temples open and closed on various servers. Not sure if you are NA or EU based, make sure you pick the option relevant to you.
http://www.gw2bear.com/status.quaggan?check=Grenth&server=NA
I would say it looks like mostly tier 2 sylvari cultural heavy armour, although the shoulders look like they’re from tier 1.
Tier 2 – http://argos-soft.net/GW2ArmorGallery/index.php?weight=3&race=4&color=0&sex=0&armorSet=culthaci
Tier 1 – http://argos-soft.net/GW2ArmorGallery/index.php?weight=3&race=4&color=0&sex=0&armorSet=culthabi
Because of the restrictions on guesting between regions it would be helpful if you could let people know what region and server you are on and perhaps what timezone/hours you generally play.
There are servers, split into two region NA and EU. Within each region certain servers are unoffically designated towards certain styles of play or location of player. For example – roleplayers tend to head for Tarnished Coast (NA) or Piken Square (EU). Some EU servers are designated for specific language speakers (french, german, spanish) but if that’s not your first language you can still join that server.
Perhaps if you outline what you want from your server community (type of play, timezone of players, language, etc) people can give you suggestions for which to pick?
Here’s a list of the server names. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Servers
Also you can guest between servers in your region (NA or EU) for free, but cannot guest between regions (NA-EU).
Is it the one you can buy with laurels?
No, character names are unique. When creating new characters you will be told if a name you type in is unavailable because it is already in use. If you delete a character and want to reuse the name on a new one you only have 24hrs to do so before the name goes back into general circulation. Also, if you choose to use a renaming contract to change the name of a character, you have 24hrs after doing so to revert back to the original name (will require a 2nd naming contract) before it too goes back into general circulation.
No, in fact it’s the opposite. You have 24hrs to reuse the deleted characters name before it goes back into circulation and someone else could use it.
