They are barbaric gloves, they are craftable so you should find them on the TP if you can’t make them yourself.

For some reason it won’t let me edit so here is the post I mentioned.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Explorer-or-Been-There-Done-That-title/first#post1918493

Try opening your map and zoom out. Go round the world systematically hovering over the name of each map and checking the no. found/total for each type of item; way point, skill point, POI, vista and heart. It is these that make up your 100% and only these that count towards your ‘Been there, done that’ title. Chance are you had 100% on map and then they added a new waypoint or poi after you’d completed it.

You can still trade the southsun ones after use, same is true for most minis. Some associated with special events or only sold through the gemshop are usually account bound and cannot be traded whereas the ones you get from mini-packs or pick up in open world are tradeable.

If you’re willing to try the transmutation again make sure that a) you use a transmutation crystal (blue) as it is a level 80 item rather than a transmutation stone (yellow) for levels 1-79. You will also need a set of white armour, all pieces at level 80, bought from any armour vendor you can see on the map.

Then it’s a case of clicking the crystal in your inventory, putting the two items (one COF piece and its white equivalent) into the two boxes you see and then clicking on the parts of each item you want to save.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation

It will work, and if you are after the looks rather than the stats it will save you grinding out another set of tokens.

Oh, and during the transmutation it will tell you that the new item you create will be soulbound but it actually won’t be. You can put the new item in your bank and your other character can come and collect it, transmute it over the stats they want and equip it.

Good Magic Find Gear?

Posted by: Lexy.3912

Lexy.3912

There’s a section at the bottom of this page which details how you can maximise MF across your equipment.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic_find

According to this the current total from equipment is 167% with the possibilty to add more through using sigils and various buffs/boosts. There is only one ascended infusion that gives an MF bonus (20%) and that can only be used on the amulet. Ascended rings and earrings can be found with a base 10% MF per item but there is no offensive or defensive infusion with gives additional MF.

FoTM clarifications

in Players Helping Players

Lexy.3912

Depending on the team, the level and the combination of fractals you get I would say that a run can be, on average, anywhere from 50mins – 2hrs. Less then an hour would be a very smooth run (in my experience) and I have been stuck in there for closer to 3 hours if your team is inexperienced or not communicating very well.

A run is composed of either 3 or 4 fractals (mini dungeons). Depending on the level your group decides to do, odd levels will give 3 fractals and even will give 3 fractals and then the 4th is a bonus level (alwaya fighting the Jade Maw).

If you choose to leave before the final fractal is complete you will walk away with any loot, fractal relics and experience you have collected up to that point but you will not advance your overall personal fractal level and you will not get any bonus chest (given daily for completing an even level fractal). You should also warn your group up front if it is likely that you will have to leave early.

Is there a point to crafting?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lexy.3912

Lexy.3912

Yeah the real reward is the experience it gives you, hence the reason some players use crafting to power level. If you ever plan on getting yourself a legendary weapon you will need to have two of the eight crafts at level 400, which two depends on which legendary. There are achievement points and title attached to crafting also, if those things are important to you?

I have all eight crafts mastered and will admit that I get no profit from it whatsoever, although I don’t really try to either. I spent some money on mats to complete some of the crafts but the majority I gathered myself whilst playing. But, being a bit of a completionist, I like that I have the achievement and that I didn’t have to worry about levelling through a craft or two when I decided which legendary to make. But if you were only planning to master a craft to make some extra money I wouldn’t bother.

Moving to another server = leaving guild?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lexy.3912

Lexy.3912

Wiser with Age is right, you will still be a member of your guild and display the guild tag etc, you can still use guild chat and access the guild roster/panel and all of this works cross-server and cross-region.

However, what you will no longer have access to is any influence accrued whilst on your original server, any upgrades that were built on your original server or any guild-wide buffs that may be running on your original server. You will not get access to these from guesting back either. If you want access to any of these features you will need to earn influence from scratch and have permissions within your guild to be able to spend that influence on the upgrades for your new server.

You will still be able to participate in some guild mission content (bounties and rushes for definite) as long as you are still within the same server region as the host server (NA or EU), you can’t take part in Treks as you cannot see the markers when you are guesting over to the host server and I’m not sure about challenges and puzzles as we haven’t unlocked those yet so I have no experience.

Guild leader and changing servers

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lexy.3912

Lexy.3912

I’d be cautious about switching servers to access WvW as the latest patch says that they are changing the way that the WvW match-ups are done. Depending on when you move you may find that you still can’t access the colour map that you need. Or you may find that you can move before the patch and get your map completion and after the 28th find out that it would have been easy for you to get it on your original server after the new match-up system comes into place. By which point you’ve paid out for a transfer and left your guild facilities behind. Things to think about at least…

Any rewards at Southsun?

in Last Stand at Southsun

Posted by: Lexy.3912

Lexy.3912

I guess it depends on what you find rewarding… as well as the two backpieces (which the majority of players seem to agree can be obtained relatively easily in a couple of hours) there are also titles, achievements, a couple of pretty nice free boosts to either Magic Find or Gold from Monsters which can improve your farming prospects for cash or mats.

The latest information release also talks about rewards still to come, nobody can really clarify for you what some of them will be or how you will get them exactly, we will have to wait for the release on the 28th.

So, let’s be honest, there are rewards there to be had and they are not all unobtainable by a regular player.

Max level is currently 80. You can enter WvW at any level and it will scale your stats up to 80, but it will not scale your weapons or armour so you will never be as ‘powerful’ as an actual level 80 with level 80 gear. You also will not necessarily have access to a full set of utilities or an elite skill as these unlock as you level. I have levelled characters in WvW as have many people, my advice if under level 80 is to stick with the zerg

A scout to show key locations would be a good idea. Especially to those who haven’t previously been to Southsun and therefore have not unfogged the map. Like those in the other maps they could unfog and highlight relevant areas while a player was talking to them and then when the player moved on those areas would fog back over until actually discovered.

New events like this always have an element of mystery/discovery as to what you actually need to do, personally I find that part of the game play to be fun. I don’t just want to arrive in an area and be told “make you way here, collect this, kill that and then come claim your reward” I like to have some element of figuring stuff out. Anet have become better at giving out information in preparation and at the start of event sections, for me it is a good balance. Perhaps it is too much information for some and not enough for others? – everyone will have a different preference.

Questions about Tarnished Coast

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lexy.3912

Lexy.3912

1. Yes, it is as great as everyone says and the community is wonderful and helpful. [Please note Trolls exist everywhere but they rarely flourish on TC chat] I have no doubt other servers have excellent communities too. Some starter areas are busier than others but I have never been in a map and felt that I was alone.

2. I moved to TC from an EU server and I experience no problems whatsoever with regard to people being around when I play. There is a lot of overlap between different groups of players. The only problem you may experience is if you are in a guild where all or most of the other members live in a specific timezone which differs from yours substantially.

3. For some reason the time between 10pm-Midnight (GMT) worked well for a group of us EU players who were looking to transfer a few months ago. Not sure if this is still the case.

4. No, you are not forced to RP if you don’t want to. The RP community host a load of events though and are very social. You will occasionally come across people RPing in map or local chat, or see emote text, but as long as you realise that’s what it is it causes no problems.

5. Not sure about this, as far as I know the gem amounts are set to a fixed amount of money. The only way to guarentee 1800 gems would be to use in game gold, I think.

Hope some of this helps.

Scerlite shell, Fervid censor worthless!

in Last Stand at Southsun

Lexy.3912

I don’t know if this will work, I haven’t tried. But what happens if you first transmute the Fervid Censor onto a common or masterwork level 80 spineguard? Would this create an item that had the look for the Fervid whilst granting it an upgrade slot that would permit an exquisite jewel? If you then transmute this again onto your existing backpack it should allow for the ruby jewel to be selected.

I’m only basing this on previous transmution experience, so not 100% sure it would work. It would also require 2 fine transmutation stones.

Yes, outsiders to a guild can still transform at the start of a guild rush and run the course. You will not get commendations but I think you can still open the chest at the end if you make it all the way through.

It might be considerate though, should you come across a guild rush in progress to enquire if they need any escorts to help them complete first, then once they have successfuly completed their rush and got their mertis you can use whatever time is left to run the course. If you just start doing the rush whilst they are still trying to get people through you may take up resources (speed boosts, heals, etc) needed by their guild members to successfully finish.

Fused gauntlet ticket

You can use the ticket to summon the vendor as many times as you like, just exit out of the vendor screen and the ticket will return to your inventory – until you confirm/buy which set of gauntlets you want at which point you ‘spend’ your ticket and can no longer summon the vendor.

The ticket is one time use though in as much as you can only get one set of gauntlets per account, you can’t claim them on multiple characters.

Sentinel; how i can get them?

Yes, for me, on these specific drops it did. I only did it on green sentinel drops (a few blues) and it yielded several silk/mithril insignia/inscription. Not sure if it still works with sentinel gear purchased off the TP, I haven’t tried to salvage since the F&F ended.

Soldier’s offers the same mix of stats but with different priorities. In sentinel gear vitality is the major stat as opposed to power in solider’s.

It may be that your only options at the moment are to either buy gear with sentinel stats from the Trading Post or to buy the insignia/inscription from there and craft them yourself. Perhaps whilst you are saving up they may open up a method where you can craft them from scratch.

To my knowledge only the senitnel insignia and inscriptions dropped during the dungeon, not recipes to make them. You could also salvage insignia and inscriptions from sentinel gear that dropped from mobs in MF. I honestly haven’t checked if this stat combination is now craftable, either buying the recipe from the master crafter or through discovery with azurite. But then I also haven’t noticed any azurite drop since the MF closed, so supplies may be limited.

Have a read through this gearing guide and then decide what you want to prioritise.
http://dulfy.net/2012/10/03/gw2-endgame-gearing-guide/

There are many options available to you and you should be able to find one that suits your preferred playstyle. You might have a backlog of karma in which case heading to Orr and getting a set of karma armour might be a solution. Alternatively you might not have karma to spare and the stats aren’t suitable for your build, so you can dungeon run for tokens and buy armour you want that way. You can get by just fine in PvE and WvW with green or yellow gear at level 80 – whilst you work towards buying your exotic set.

If you want to WvW I would suggest looking on the TP for a set of green ‘Masterwork’ level 80 armour to fit with your build – then head into WvW and try it out.

What do these terms mean?

What does it mean when someone says they’re porting in Lion’s Arch?

Not sure anyone has answered this one for you yet. It depends on the context – if they are saying this outside of LA it may mean they are talking about the means of travel they plan to take back to LA (e.g. Heart of the Mists). However, I suspect you have seen it said in LA in which case it will be mesmers offering a portal service to get people to the end of the jumping puzzles (and the chests) located in the city.

Some mesmers advertise the service for tips, most do it for free but are always appreciative of a tip if you want to give one.

None of the LA jumping puzzles are extremely hard, but expecially on a day when completing puzzles is one of the daily activities it is a handy thing to have access to. Mesmers will usually post directions to the portal point, just keep an eye out in map chat.

What is this armor?

The pants are actually from the vigil armour set, you just can’t usually see the ‘hot pants’ aspect because it’s covered by the chest piece.

Guild Bounty Question

yanonka – ive only fought this one once. And it was with ~12 people. Boy did she suck. We finished the fight, but she was downing us left and right with the rats. Unfortunately I dont really have enough experience to properly place this one.

The strategy my guild uses for Yanonka (once located) is to use single target damage only – no aoe, no attacks on the rats – that’s when they swarm you and eat your face! There are probably other strategies, but that has worked for us.
