There is just not much point playing this class anymore beside the fun of bashing 4 times more button than other classes. They’ve unbalanced it. My new ranger is dealing way more damage with the great-sword just bashing a few keys, it has a bigger health pool, and its traits aren’t even optimized yet nor is he equipped with ascended gear.
Honestly I don’t see the problem with playing multiple characters.
Really it’s all a matter of how much you want to invest into them. On my Ele I have Ascended gear, max backpack slots, 20 slot bags, perma gathering tools and like 5-6 sets of gear. This is compared to my other dudes who all have one set of exotic gear and some 15 slot bags.
All the classes are going to have their ups and downs. You may be down on your Ele now but who knows how you’ll feel about it in 6 months from now.
Most of the problems come from people negative thoughts. Even irl small issues are made huge by these sort of thinking.

I went for full cleric gear and trinket with full bunker healing traits when I used to roll with the Zerg in WvW all the time. The healing from staff skills towards your teammates can be very helpful when you have high healing power.
Ele answer. Not in spvp but in WvW within Zerg it actually is quite a useful support role.
This is very true. Tested it today in a couple of duels against necros and warriors. I might actually change it for another utility if this is intentional and not a bug. Then again I’m completely sure this is just a temporary bug just like how it happens with many other skills across all professions then Anet fix it so… don’t panick!
Hi, did you test it in WvW or PvP? I just tested it in PvP. Warrior Burst Mace Stun and Necro Fear Wall doesn’t work on Mist Form and I’m still invulnerable.
If you tested it in WvW, it might be a bug (let’s hope it’s not a nerf )on PvE settings.
Yea it was in WvW, I don’t spvp anymore. I think it got fixed because during the 2 hours I was roaming tonight I was constantly using mist form in the middle of the enemy big Zerg to prevent get in combat and wp. I should have at least get stunned while many of the enemies kept trying to kill me. I’ll test it again tomorrow.

I promise you, I’m experienced, and I don’t think his idea of bunker is correct. I think what he really means is “not a glass cannon”.
That’s perfectly fine Tyaen as long as you don’t get burst down during the first 10 secs. I just want a good video footage where it shows a skillful condition based engi player that first of all doesn’t get downed quick and most importantly knows how to read his and counter his opponent. When I post the video I don’t want to read comments like “oh you were facing a noob or amateur player of course you will win” you know what I mean? I sent you a mail in game so let me know when it is most convenient for you to have our fun duels ^^

In WvW they only need to change the food efects and the build is balanced. (even if do not do that there is a +40% condition duration food).
In sPvP – tPvP i usualy dont see good players die against that build. If that build was OP then top players would use it in tournaments.

Nooo. This is what makes wvw extremely fun for solo/small group roaming. The option to have various builds due to the fact we use our own gears and consumables to strengthens our strong or moderate areas. After reaching rank 50, spvp/tspvp became extremely boring for me and started wvw, that was 4 months ago.
Stun breakers, cc, stability, kite ability, Any of these basically full counters them and renders them useless. It’s a gimmick build for abusing bad players that don’t carry stun breakers, etc. It’s also not advised to duel them unless you know how to counter one trick ponies.
This holds true if for example if that warrior is running full zerk geared and the player behind it just started using this build picked from the forum without having the necessary player skills in combat to read and counter his opponent. Then these type of warriors with the same build are easy to defeat. Otherwise, I honestly believe they provide a very good fun challenge regardless how many stunbreakers you carry.

I know this Paundro but there was not enough opening to burst him down and you know I can burst very bunker players (with 3000+ of armor). There were many ways for him to avoid my burst and still keep constant pressure on me. He was very bunker yet bursty as well. I completely doubt even a glass cannon thief would be able to output enough dmg to burst him down because Twin Scroll will avoid most of the damage with block, endure pain or stun to interrupt even if the thief ambushes him in mid fight plus a glass thief will get nuked fast and easy.
Blaze, I think your best bet is to take sigil of doom to try and mitigate his healing. I really think that is the only thing this build is weak to, but that may not be enough. Also if you are S/D, your blinding flash can prevent many of the skullcrack. Without that, this build doesn’t have much. I think you will also have to bait out his invulns by doing half bursts as opposed to full nukes. That is all I can think of. I am having trouble vs. this build as well, and personally don’t want to have change my sigils just to have a chance.
That’s interesting never tried that sigil before. Just yesterday I got bored of the sigil of generosity after using it for a couple of weeks and replaced it with sigil of energy. Question about the sigil, For how long does the poison condition from this sigil last? and is the description correct with having only 5 secs cd on weapon swap?. Sounds a bit too good with if that is the actual cd. Or is the 5 secs actually the duration of poison condition if it is not removed?
Also using blinding flash to try to prevent him from skullcracking me (slang) wasn’t very efficient against him. He would almost always see it coming and do an auto mace atk to get rid of it

I have defeated many other warriors with this mace/shield, gs stun lock build with my s/d burst non-glass cannon ele but he was an exception during the many duels we fought.
The signet buffs makes warriors no longer weak to consistent damage like it was before when healing surge was the only thing viable. Basically if you cant burst a warrior you wont kill him (assuming he is tanky enough). Its kind if like your ele, consistent damage wont kill you but burst will.

What server is this guy on? I still havent lost to a mace/gs warrior yet but i know you are good and know their counters before the signet buff patch so its interesting you are having issues.
He is from TC. really good warrior. Very challenging to defeat or even come close to haha. The closest I came to defeat him was the only time I brought his health down to 30% and that was only because he horribly lagged for like 2 secs xD. Definitely give him a try if Jq faces tc again. Still really missing all the great jq roamers!

In the 1v1 tourney a S/D ele won. The final was between myself as a tanky spirit ranger vs the ele. The match was 2-1, but in the end the ele won.

WvW does have a lot more build variety, and the different objectives lead to a different style of combat altogether. But the big thing is, the challenge was issued in WvW, so it has to be done in WvW.

I haven’t notice this since I rarely have to use mist form if it is not for stomping or escaping from a Zerg attacking me. Could be bugged and not really intended maybe?.

Any warrior from TC or SOR server that uses the constant regen condtion bunker build or this so call “overpowered” stun build please duel my s/d ele from BG for a video footage demonstration. I want to show our fellow eles how to defeat such play style.
For pve glass cannon d/d is most certainly awesome as long as you know when to dodge and use your skills wisely. I pve with complete zerker gear using d/d, s/d and s/f. For wvw and spvp the only time it came be helpful is when you have a great amount of support behind you even then you are way too squishy to die in 2-3 hits from a single burst type of player.

We can pass lvl 50+ fractal now without having someone with higher lvl from early release to do only odd lvl numbers? I haven’t done fractal in so many months.

It is very bursty even at range where you can start and finish battles without you getting to melee distance. Of course it has the choice to be in melee and then out to range to continue bursting as well. It is not glassy at all even on zerg vs zerg encounters yet it is not very bunker either to the point where other burst type of players can’t take you out in seconds if you don’t outplay or nuke them first. Being experienced on both type of weapon sets I find the s/d to be much more complicated than d/d so that also fits on your number 4 dislike. It doesn’t have good amount of boon duration so idk where it stands on your number 5 category.

I would say during my first encounter with this build against Paundro I found it very challenging to counter until I got more practice with other warriors using the same build and playstyle. A lot of warriors were experimenting with different M/Sh builds as soon as the June 25th patch hit. I know I tried S/M, S/Sh, S/A, GS and H. I messed around with builds for about a week before settling on M/Sh GS as my favorite of the bunch. I really wouldn’t give credit for a build being popular to a thread that didn’t even go over two pages. No offense or anything.
The popularity is due to the fact that warriors have got buffs recently which brought back more players to the class, as well as the fact that there really aren’t many viable choices. Moving the adept critical and damage traits to the top of their lines really killed a lot of builds. Don’t even bother mentioning the axe chain damage nerf, since so much of the damage was moved the the third strike making it easy to dodge the majority of the damage. Point is, there are a whole lot of factors that are making M/Sh builds popular, and if you are using M/Sh the logical choice of a secondary weapon is one that gives you mobility and decent damage that can be used during the stun. What are warrior choices for weapons that give mobility? Not many of them. What do we got? GS, Sw, and H (if you count Earthshaker). Sword and Hammer aren’t bad, but GS has better synergy with hoelbrak runes and the might stacking on GS crits, which makes it my preferred choice.
Yea ,I didn’t mean to give full credit to the thread for the entire uprising popularity of the build. I meant that after the date of that thread, the spread of such build became noticeable at least in Tier 1 WvW. I also agree that warriors still need buff to be great in pvp settings.

1 – DPS (which better in berserker gear).
2 – Dodges (which are not affected by celestial stats).Therefore —-—> Celestial is sub-par.

All ele nerfs should be removed.
Clearly he meant total dmg of both skills which is correct if you are not playing all bunker/healer type of ele.

I think you are confusing earthquake with churning earth. LF+Earthquake is different than Lf+Chunning Earth. Sure, you can see the jump animation and avoid it but that also can be taken towards your opponent advantage. No matter how good an opponent is any decent ele can get his enemy with this combo easily.

When this happens to me I always joke that my character had a sudden heart attack.
This was funny. I would find myself saying something similar in voice chat if this ever happens to me while roaming lol
Earthquake > Lightning Flash is probably the hardest thing to do. And gl trying to do it in WvW with massive skill lag. Or porting Ring of Fire at target location is also just as hard. Break out those high-end PCs.
Things I use it for: Churning, gap closer, mobility (not just escape, but porting out of red circles).
I don’t mind that it’s not a stun breaker. I don’t care that it does damage. I would love if it was a blast or leap finisher though. Maybe had special properties based on what attunement we’re in. Just throwing out some ideas. It’s fine overall, though.
I find LF+fgs skill 4 to be much more complex to execute it perfectly well in pvp because many more variables take place.

Churning Earth > Lightning Flash to your target to avoid it getting dodged.
Earthquake > Lightning Flash to your target to stun it immediatly.That’s just to name two offensive uses of it. I think it’s still a great skill. It can function as a stunbreaker without being one. Most stuns in the game have only a 3/4 to 1 second duration. Despite being stunned you can still use Lightning Flash to teleport out of danger. It doesn’t break the stun, but who cares with such short durations.
I completely forgot about mixing it with Churning Earth. People have been getting good at timing thier dodges, so mixing in Lightning Flash has been irrelevant in my experience.
I like the idea of mixing it with earthquake though
Mixing it with burning speed, fire grab, updraft FGS cast, FGS skill 3 and 4 is awesome too.
Warrior speed is over the top and I am sure Anet will eventually nerf it. Their block and stun abilities are not inconvenient if you know how to counter them. Finally, warriors still need buff to be any good at pvp.
Steath is not an issue, down state on the other hand doesn’t belong in any pvp setting imo.
Simple… spvp is boring! duels and 1v1 or 1v2 encounters while you solo roam in wvw is exciting and fun!

The damage can be great from 2-4k if you have good amount of power and critical dmg without being glass cannon. You have no idea how many times I have defeated an enemy when they are trying to get away and If LF didn’t deal dmg they would have gotten away.
Yeah I think precision food is necessary to bump up crit chance. Would you recommend stacking bloodlust for solo roaming or just going with a force sigil? I know there’s a point where force stops being better but I don’t know exactly where that is or if I’ll consistently come close to it while solo/small group roaming.
Food would be Plate of Truffle Steak and Master/Potent Master Maintenance Oil? Would that be overkill for precision?
My personal preference regards to critical chance is between 40-50% without fury. A master maintenance oil would probably be enough to bring yours to 40% then with the food and stacks you can focus on other stats. If there is a limit of sigil of force I haven’t reach it yet because I still notice the increase of dmg I do with it than without it. My burst non-glass ele has 3500atk when fully buffed (without might) with 35% additional damage bonus boost.

I recently obtained Guard Leech buff from maxing stats on guard killer category. I am aiming for applied fortitude next but was wondering if it is possible to have both buffs up or does one overwrites the other? I’m sure there must be a few by now that have both, if so can anyone post a screenshot of having both buffs displayed? Thank you!

I believe you will perform well with it until you face a good condition necro, glass thief or a stun lock build warrior. Even though you have evasive arcana, constant small heals and endurance regeneration as your defensive mechanism, it just won’t be enough to counter any skillful player that can put a lot of pressure on you. It is not very bunker to outlast nor does it have a great burst to compensate. Like HiHey stated definitely try FGS as elite. It is not just awesome for giving you enough mobility to escape any sudden outnumbered situation but it is also great in combat.
I didn’t know air training was not working atm, I will have to test this out to be sure. Thanks for the heads up hihey.
Start solo/small group roaming, participating in bunch of duels whether that is 1v1, 2v2 or even gvg. It is a whole lot more fun than rolling with the zerg all the time. Plus you will acquire a specific set of pvp skills.
The feeling I got while leveling this toon is that it is better at being mediocre at everything. If I went to much in power/prec I got real squishy, if I went to much in tough/vit the only thing I did any damage too were rabbits. That’s why the idea of celestial gear was appealing, it’s just an overall buff to everything. The only stats I don’t like on it are condi. damage and MF. Maybe I can mix something that will give me the same results without the MF and Condi.
You cant really get those numbers outside of celestial because it gives so much more stats than any other gear. If you are looking for 3 or 4 main stats Celestial will not be optimal. But once you cross into 5-7 stats nothing can beat it, because it totals more than any other gear.
Also unless you are Scepter/Focus (and even then the conditions are fairly good) Half of our damage in pretty much every build comes from our conditions with nearly every high damage fire or earth spell doing double or more condition damage than direct damage. Having that passive condition damage increase is great.
As for MF I wouldn’t worry too much about that now. It’s more of a bonus 8th stat for now. But it’s going away soon. Hopefully the compensation stat will be boon duration. crosses fingers

I would say the answer to your question op, depends primarily on the type of build you are running and what’s your main focus with the profession. For some builds/focus 1-3 pieces are best. For others could be most or their entire gear set while for others like the ones I run 0 celestial gears/trinkets are beneficial.

That’s why you have to obtain a good balance stat around your main area of focus and on offense/defense stats. With all celestial you will be from low to ok at everything but great at nothing.
