No you do not understand. It is not about you or your tournament. It is about the community and what the community wants to see.

I thought it was obvious, really. I thought everybody knew that PvE had been stale for too long, that Anet was undermining us, and that any possible way out of the dark pit the game had fallen into would have to involve the community as a whole.

This is how gwscr approached the problem. Rules were discussed publicly so that the entire community would feel involved. Any form of individualism would have thwarted the project. Only thanks to this community-driven approach was the speed clear competition successful.

Before you launched your first tournament, we had a thread on the forums. We were doing exactly this. We were discussing formats, as a community. Then you made your public announcement, using ideas developed in the aforementioned thread, and it was a great success.

I can imagine that you needed to generate fame for your guild and bypassing the community was a way to get a first-mover advantage. I can also imagine you may think I am discussing this only because I – as an rT member – would be envious of the attention your project attracts. Please believe that it is not the case.

I am convinced we get one shot. One shot at making tournaments that are engaging for the community, one shot to attract attention to PvE before it is doomed for ever. I want to make this right.

Therefore I believe that we have to engage the community as a whole in order to achieve long lasting success. Could we put individualism and personal interest aside for a while? DnT launched two tournaments, KING launched one, all these without community involvement. Okay, I guess we could all launch our own tournaments. The consequent chaos would certainly be entertaining, for a while. But do you really think we can get long-lasting support from Anet if we do not get organised?

As I said, we get one shot. How about we took the time to sit and discuss things?

We could act as a community, to survive as a community. So you see it is not about your tournament, even if I would have some criticism for it, it is about the way we get organised in order to make competitive PvE happen.

There was a feedback thread here and on the DnT forums. You had plenty of time to give your feedback like some of your guilds members incessantly did for the wipe rule to make this tournament that much worse because they had their feelings hurt from wiping.

I saw some of your guild members complaining about this yesterday too (that they feel DnT is only doing this for attention and they wanted to be more involved). Having 100 people organizing a tournament is a terrible idea. It leads to needless drama and everyone wanting it their way. You can’t please everyone. When a small group of people organize it it’s much easier.

And if you look @ previous threads Nike liked the wipe rule. He removed it because of YOUR GUILD’s complaining. So stop acting like he’s complete ignoring you.

If you want to make your own tournament, do so.

And no I’m not in DnT. I’m just tired of seeing a bunch of rT members be such babies about this for no reason. Sorry, you wiped hard in the first tournament. Now we had to change the best rule because of your hurt feelings and you still aren’t happy.

I just need to say this. I’ve not once seen an rT member cry about the no wipe rule (apart from the occasional “man that sucked”.

I think what Zelyhn is saying is entirely valid. After the first tournament the idea (that I was pretty sure I had read over and over) was that the first tournament was run by DnT to get it started and that the next tourneys would be run by gwscr or another neutral party. This didn’t happen and there may have been a feedback thread on dtguilds.com but let me be frank and say no one posted it clearly that that was where to go with concerns.

But whatever keep talking. I have my criticisms and mainly it’s just what Zelyhn said. It should be community or neutrally driven.

I just wanted to say that I bought gems in my first personal story instance on my first character on my second account and had no problems. That itself really shouldn’t be the issue, unless it is random and different for various accounts.

Uhm… he’s talking about how norn human and Charr have merchants in theirs. Asura do not and sylvari have… I don’t know but not as much as the other 3. The 5 home instances should have access to all of the same amenities.

As a frequent gem buyer with real money, I tried to calculate how much real money I’d need to spend to get one of these babies off the TP.

Now first I estimated that it would cost 3500g. Considering the prices it is being offered at and the buy orders, I feel this is legitimate, but you can argue that number, that’s fine.

Then I said well… 100$ in the past has gotten me about 600g. So I rounded it up to 700g to make my numbers easier, and I feel that gem to good could get more and more profitable given that buying keys for the gamble might be worth it to some TP barons looking to have a go. So… 500$. Give or take. 500 dollars for this fabulous item.

Then… well. 500 bucks gives you 40k gems. Which translates to 160 hair style kits at full price, not buying in bulk.

Even though I would change my characters hair EVERY DAY if I got this item, and even though I’ve spent more than 5000 dollars over the course of 2 years playing this game, even I cannot justify the price of this item to warrant spending such a sum on it. Despite how much I want it. Despite how much I would trade for it. It’s a sad day indeed when I can’t justify the purchase of an item (and let me just say that I’ve justified some really ridiculous items!)

Please, Anet… this item should be a permanent drop. That way a year from now…. they won’t all be gone and people won’t be asking to trade 10’s of thousands of gold for it. Anet. Pls.

Keep in mind you can also get weapon tickets, extra keys, and all of the other random crap that is in the chests.

Still not worth it, IMO, but at least you have a chance at other valuable items. I just don’t like that they specifically say “very rare”. To me that means don’t even bother. I don’t even think precursors are considered “very rare” and I’ve never even seen one.

Hi! This is a short story (really short) about my favorite part of the game. In Harathi Hinterlands, there’s a couple hidden away “seraphette” and “bandito” who are in forbidden love. (Romeo and juliet). The scene is gorgeous and I love it, so I wrote this as a little shout out to that as well as my RP character and her “love interest” the seraph commander.

I happened upon them as I explored, Bandito and Seraphette, as they sat in secret in their little cove hidden in Harathi Hinterlands. Their forbidden love injected such melancholy into the air, despite the beauty of the water and stones around them.

My love, Liam, Seraphette’s superior officer had been wandering with me, and we both stopped and looked on from afar. Seraphette was consorting with the enemy, and more than that, was wrapped in a deep embrace of tears and desperate longing. I remembered that feeling all too well, as the streetrat turned Heroine of Shaemoor, the desperate struggle to keep, hold on, grasp, the love that is forbidden and out of reach.

I glanced back at Liam, whose face contorted in confusion, and he turned away, unwilling to intervene, despite his duty. He grasped my hand and hurried me away. As I glanced back, I smiled at the romancing couple. Forbidden as it may be, they deserve a moment of love before she must kill him.

I did a couple fractals yesterday… an EU level 2 with people who didn’t understand rolling for swamp and a 49 with a bunch of forumers and a DnT folk.

The EU level 2 was surprisingly fun. I had to teach them what to do, even in Maw. They didn’t know to pick up crystals! Also, they did everything weirdly in molten, but it actually made it pretty fun. Like fighting those mobs after the tunnel, it was like one person took on one or 2 of the molten alliance Charr and beat up their own group. It was interesting!

We didn’t have a Guardian so we lacked some stability, but when we got Cliffside, I can only imagine we did the arm seals how “it was meant to be done”? Because we all just ran back and forth. On a level 2, it was doable and actually easier that way.

In the level 49, things were good until Mai Trin. We wiped multiple times. And the only reason we completed was with the log out trick. It was odd to experience these two tiers in quick succession, but fun. I got to do underwater for the first time in a long time and made it through the dolphins phase on my own (which may have been a first!).

All in all… things were fun. I think I’m taking a break for a while though. So hopefully when I get back… things will be fixed.

If we all submit tickets for it maybe they will recognize it as a problem?

The OP set a goal for he and his kids to achieve in gw2. They’re young, so learning to do some things may have taken longer than your average player (or not, his kids might be geniuses!) So their goal was to get dungeon master just the 4 of them at the same time. He’s been coming back occasionally to update. Now that they’ve succeeded, that was his endgame, so now he’s done. It’s pretty awesome and I think it’s a great story.

This is amazing. I’m sad to see you leaving, as I enjoyed reading the updates. Congratulations!

Like, literally, why is anyone even trying to argue against the OP? Griefing someone in-game is wrong no matter what the context is, it doesn’t matter how jealous you are of sellers making more gold than you ever will, griefing their instance is wrong.

I won’t deny the /kick function is messed up. It seriously needs addressed.

That being said, I don’t see how misusing a game function for gold is any different than misusing one for amusement.

I highly doubt the mechanic for allowing /join mid dungeon was ever intended as an income device.

To be honest. I’d rather watch golf than watch that tournament. I feel so bad about that. Because I love pve tourneys. But I just… I can’t do it.

So skins for many people are endgame. While I see no reason why my level 1 shouldn’t look good, many people avoid skinning until their characters have endgame armor. (Level 80 exotics). So the wardrobe was introduced, and when you add a skin to your wardrobe by using it, you can – use it as many times on as many characters as you want with the price of Trans charges. This is a far better system than it used to be, where if you just wanted say the helm skin on multiple characters you would have to buy the entire armor set over and over and use transmutation crystals or stones to transfer it to other armors.

Transmutation charges are easiest to get with real money. However, you can get 1 for each completed map. So essentially, you can farm them without paying real money.

When you want to skin a new armor set, you equip the armor and go into your hero panel and to the wardrobe. From there you can apply the skins using those charges you bought or farmed.

A good way to avoid spending too much of these while leveling is to buy an “outfit” which can be applied to as many characters as you want and it doesn’t cost a single charge. The ancestral outfit and assassin’s are the latest, but come Halloween you’ll have access to the executioners, witch, mad king, and bloody prince. You can also buy the pirate or chef outfit. These are all good alternatives to skinning before 80.

The ability to sell dungeon paths causes nothing but trouble. Either the buyer gets scammed or the seller gets ‘grieved’. Best solution would be to remove it from the game entirely, for the sake of a more pleasant community.

Because I don’t join groups, I make them, I don’t actually know what it is like to join one of those groups.

Except for once. It was a fractal. 1 warrior. Ping gear. I entered the party and he hadn’t entered so I entered and rolled swamp. He had no words. Not a single thing to say. I altered the lfg with some little words like “please” and a smiley, and quickly got a full group. We were chatty and laughing, and then the “leader” interjected with “ping. Now.” Everyone did. Then we started talking about the meta and how sometimes we like to stray from it (like, use scepter on guard or ele or sometimes the engi just really needed to take a flamethrower for his own sanity) and the “leader” called us "f"ing noobs and left. We got a 5th. Was the most fun and smooth 38 I had had in a long time. But it’s probably because I commandeered the group. Because, if I can say this without sounding overly pleased with myself, I make a good party leader, and I may be a delightful kitty, but I ain’t no stinkin’ kitten.

Pugs are so… random.
