I think the two ideas “gw2 is a pvp game” and “anet wants gw2 to be a pvp game” are very different fundamentally. Anet, however, adores the casual pve player base because we fund their job (high five to all the excessive gem buyers, yeah!). High end pvp players help anet by being competitive and flashy and attention grabbing. So these competitive events gravitate toward that. I don’t think they really thought about a pve tournament until we brought it up here on this here forum, but they were obviously glad to support it (because it was handled professionally and in good structure, see gwscr and the way the tourney discouraged exploits and encouraged smart thoughtful play unlike.. another initiative).
The pvp tournaments are already easy to organize. The format and game makes it easy to spectate and make big.
I’m not really happy about an armor set I can’t get. I understand why they are doing it. I am glad that talent is being recognized. I think if we worked with Josh on the next tournament I think they would be open to making it big like the pvp. We just gotta propose it at the right time. Probably not now.

I checked the makeover kits and the new faces. Though two of them have new tattoos on them, the asura-char I’ve seen had no slitted eyes.

I thought it may be something you get as part of your personal story, just like the “eyes” for the elementalist, but so far I found nothing like it.

Life steal jade maw is a common one. There are some blinks that I know exist that can help you skip content. Personally I don’t think its wise to have a format that is looked down upon by Anet.

I’m trying to not be angry about it, because I love seeing talent recognized, but I hate that so much of A nets focus is on pvp which I find totally abysmal. So even if I could be good at it (I’m not saying I actually have the capability or anything) I wouldn’t want to pvp. It’s just. Ugh.

Most of the exotic non crafted weapons we see on the TP likely come from 2 sources, forging rares and champ bags. Personally I’ll see an exotic maybe 2 per week. Usually from a champ bag or fractal chest but sometimes random drops. Depends.

It really upsets me, because the more people vilify dungeon sellers, the more of them get griefed and I hate hearing how bad white knights are hurting my exceptionally talented friends.

Uh. I just need to say: most kicks are not for selling the slot. Like… seriously. They aren’t. Please don’t spread misinformation. Most guild kicks are for getting other guildies in. That’s because people have a loyalty toward their guild members and not toward a pug who may or may not be a good player. It has to do with the groups mentality.
Also, what you said about “not all casual parties are like that” is true, however the same can be said about speed run parties, full clear parties, noob parties, but each of then are going to have their bad apples. What I always recommend is to start your own darn party. People will join you. Start your own instance and people can’t kick you. And generally it’s the party starter that sets the mood of the party. So start your happy fun parties, like I do, and I promise you you’ll have more fun than joining another party.

The main problem of the starting armors is their texture fails short in showing the brilliance of different dyes, in addition to being plain.
The exclusive dyes (particularly enameled) make the starting armor texture (or lack thereof) irrelevant. You put enameled crimson on the magician legs. It really pops.

It’s hard to match those weapons, but I guess I’m wondering, what sort of style are you looking for? Elegant? Cultural? Are you a male or female Asura?
The nice part about Asura cultural armor is that due to its practical style, with the right dyes it can match any weapon. However, if you’re a female asura looking for an elegant dressy style, perhaps TA light or pieces of Arah.
Also, the CoE leggings have designs that could go well with the scepter. But anyway, more details please!

My Asura uses TA with firey colors. They look great with deep purples, blues, and blacks as well. I would honestly recommend it with colors like midnight ice, starry night, and maybe a midnight purple for dark blue and purples, but with lighter accents on other minor dye slots. You want to be sure that light colors don’t go over the darks on TA as it makes it look funky and washed out.
Anyway, here’s mine. You should also experiment with Arah and other pieces from sets like masquerade, phoenix, CM, etc.
All Vikings proves is that a. Norn with shield are OP, b. Bow ranger’s are useless and c. All Skarsgard brothers (Floki, Eric Northman, and the guy from Hemlock Grove) are fabulous awesome actors.

I don’t think it will ever be an offering in the gem store. BUT:
However, I’ve mentioned in a couple threads, I would pay a certain amount of gems for the option to have unlimited hairstyle and transmutation changes on a month by month basis. I can see 1600 gems being fair, but I’d leave that up to the economists to decide. I would only pay for it as long as I had the choice NOT to purchase it one month with no penalties (like a subscription fee might have) so that it was really, for sure, the customers choice to buy it each month.

i agree that if its very doable at 50 due to players experience, 3 times out of 3 i had almost to solo her at 20-40 totally ignoring team mates because at lower levels is totally messed up.
And its way easier to solo than if you have 4 party members.
This fractal is great because it shows everything is wrong in PvE at the same like:
- no aggro mechanic
- huge numbers to replace AI
- bad collision detection
- wrong tells to confuse players
- lack of trinity without a real counterplan
but more than anything, developers making changes without any test
and they don t even revert issues fast unless they favor players.
P.S. once again you can avoid the pistol.
But as Always anet made the tell almost invisible (mai lift the pistol and shoots an invisible projectile) and the attack effect (the teleport with lights etc) seems the attack itself.
Dodge few seconds after mai lift pistol and the second part won t even happen.
Its like swamp fractal… they put wooden passages that closes when you pass, and instead you have to jump on trees…. total nonsense.

I agree with your points. My biggest gripes however are with the clumsy design. Like the false tells, map blocking, projectile hitting mid-air, ect. Those things pretty much screw you over in a fight where you have to dodge everything and getting everything perfect, more so. If they want us to have a fight that is like get 100% in their dance-dance-mai trin then they might as well give us perfect conditions to do so.
While things may not make sense, like in the swamp fractal, at least they are do-able, and that’s all I can care of. Mai Trin is just TOO LONG. If they want a tough boss fight, then sure; just make it SHORT. Making it extremely long makes it annoying since you can have a mistake anytime and 90% of the time I get a lag spike on her 5% remaining hp.
The only reason why I could stand the bad design before was because it was fairly easy to bypass with experience. Now it’s just the kittened cousin nobody wants to play with.
About the pistol, I only manage to dodge 1 of the two hits of the pistol, she always hits me with one part, but it reduces damage to half, which is nice but seeing how I only got two dodges for so many aoes I don’t really know if it’s worth it.
It can’t be dodged. Use blocks.

I’d say mesmer for aesthetics and utility or guardian for usefulness and utility. A good mesmer can carry the worst parties and so can a good guardian. Mesmer has a bit more challenge associated with it, but guardians can have their challenges with their low health pools. This said, I love my asura guardian, because the animations are adorable and my human mesmer is gorgeous and “majestic”. So I like both for different reasons.

On my pinksura ele, I use the wupwup dagger with anomaly and immobulus and bifrost. These rainbow, pink, lucky charm weapons make her look like an adorable little fairy ^.^
