I feel like legit farmers like myself getting punish or something. I farm Frostgorg champs train everyday for few hourso to make my end game need since i’m kinda broke in life. Anet should let exchange gold to gems to get the same rewards as to buy gems w/ money.

That’s not supporting the developers or the company, though. That’s taking something you get free in game, to buy a currency that helps you avoid spending real money, which is what the developers and company needs to keep going. They don’t need gold.

I have good luck in pugs when I set absurd aesthetic standards.

I don’t mind lowbies, I remember months ago spoj taking a low-level thief to CM and he did fine. The problem is that 99.9% of level 80 pugs are bad, so I’m not going to risk trying to find pugs of a decent skill level (who are on the dungeon level) who can also gear appropriately to compensate for the lack of damage modifiers through incomplete traiting and lack of runes/sigils.

Nobody is obligated to take a lowbie in any dungeon. If they want to it can sometimes turn out alright but it’s by no means an obligation.

It would also be nice to color code various whisper conversations though.

Got it. Also, Mad Queen, that’s likely true. But people want to do dungeons at their low levels, that isn’t going to change.

That’s good advice to folks who are willing to wait, but many aren’t, and they will come to these forums to complain that the dungeon community is bad because they don’t want lowbies. That’s why I posted this.

New Folks in Dungeons [READ]

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my post about a hot issue here in the dungeon community: Bringing non-80s into dungeons.

As of late, there have been several posts on this topic. The topic then derails because all of us are sick of reading it. Here is the relevant information

• Lowbies are perfectly capable of completing a dungeon run of the appropriate level

We all know this to be true. There isn’t a single member of the community arguing otherwise. However, those of you angry folks, be aware that although lowbies are capable of completing a dungeon, this can sometimes not be as quick as we want.

Important fact #1: No one should believe that a person’s dungeon group composition should be dictated by anyone but those in the group.

If a group wants to run full berserker speed runs, they have that right. If a group wants to run a full clear, they have that right. No one has the right to tell either group they can’t, as both groups are allowed to run the dungeon both ways.

• People need to learn to read LFG descriptions.

Descriptions are there for a reason. If you are running a lowbie group, post something like “Anyone welcome”. It will fill. I spent about 30 minutes last night watching the time trends of lfg groups of AC. Non-speed runs filled, on average, 23 seconds faster than speed runs. People are running these groups.

Important fact #2: Normal groups are out there, do post, and fill quickly. In 5 minutes, you will be able to find a group for any normally run path. If you are running an abnormal path, post your own.

• Dungeon veterans are willing and able to help dungeon newbies

There are several posts here on the forums, Teachers and specifically for Arah, Arah Vets. In addition, see the sticky at the top of the forums. More recent threads may be more useful, but it is still very much a tool to be used.

• If you come to this subforum for a build, you will be given the current meta build for dungeons.

What this means is that regardless of your feelings, people will give you the absolute best build for dungeons. This isn’t debatable. The best build for dungeons focuses on DPS. If you don’t want the meta build, do not ask. If you want advice on how to best use the meta build, or tweak it because you need extra survivability, the dungeon “elitists” will give you their best advice (usually along the lines of knight’s gear, but it depends). Arguing with the forum regulars about this will only cause infractions and the closing of threads. Be aware that if you are asking a question wanting advice, it is up to you to take it.

It would be nice to give us skill points. However skillpoints can be turned into gold (weapons, clover fails, etc). So I’m sure that anet had the economy in mind.

I get that it stinks you can’t use it, but it is a really cool item for a lot of people, and it is never ever cool to complain about a gift.

One thing people aren’t considering here which I find to be quite a bonus (I created all 8 of my toons as quickly as I could w/o even leveling them all…my first 5 within an hour of installing the game back at launch.) As a GW1 veteran I was aware of the character birthday system that has been a tradition in GW and would likely be a part of GW2 as well. So by creating all your characters asap (as close together as possible), your able to get the maximum amount of birthday rewards much faster. Those who still have open slots since launch will have a character that is ‘one birthday behind’ so to speak. By creating all 8 fairly quickly after launch, I have all 8 of my characters getting the maximum birthday fairly close together. So a while back I got 8 minis, 8 Birthday Boosters, and 8 of the lvl 20 Scrolls. And this will continue for second birthdays, third, etc which hopefully get better as we go. So even if you don’t want to level a char right now or even play any others at all, this is a GREAT reason to go ahead and fill that empty slot for the extra birthday rewards in the future. Also, alts can help you get a lot of extra achiement points even if you don’t use them. The living story achievements are char bound meaning easy ones like consuming candy corn, opening winters day gifts, etc can be done on a level 2 and are basically free achievement points. So these are two MAJOR benefits to getting those char slots active asap. Good luck!

From what I heard, they want people to make suggestions in the sub-forums most related to the area of the game. I’m not sure how useful that will be in the long-run though; it’ll be better in the sense that it will foster more discussion from players interested in that game’s aspect, but having suggestions spread out across the forums may make it harder to keep track of them, especially on sub-forums that are very fast-moving.

I’ll quote myself from another thread:

We want people to make suggestions in the sub-forums which make sense for their ideas. As example, if you have an idea about sPvP, you can and should post it in the sPvP sub-forum.

The development teams are very excited about this change.

So if I want to post a suggestion that pertains exclusively to PvE, where is that done?

General discussion, I guess. Or dungeons if it’s dungeon pve. ?

To me, my gold/money is well-spent in the copper fed salvage-o-matic. It’s just an essential when I have to deal with a huge influx of loots while trying to hoard crafting materials. And to consider that I have to salvage enough for thousands of luck points, the kit saves me quite a bit of gold (in waypoint, vendor, etc)

Couldn’t solo Brie? I literally did that on my first try with barely any effort. Also, after some ****s merged my arah instance I went on lfg and saw you in an arah selling group for p2. I would have joined and said hi but it would have been random plus I would have forced you to re list the lfg since it was 4/5 :p

Man you should have. It took FOREVER to get people. The time I spent waiting for the invisible instance owner to make the run to Brie without dying was actually more than if I ran it myself. I was so freaking bored I almost paid for a friend to get the run, but a random elementalist joined that I had to instruct on how to run to us using FGS and mobility skills. Was just awful, would have loved to see you!

I prefer bearbows though. They are easier to spot, so I can kick on sight. Sometimes Cleric guards enter using a GS, and I can’t tell their clerics until later in the dungeon. They are like HIV, where as bearbows are like Ebola. Both kill you, but one isn’t as detectable until its been inside longer.

So if you have a suggestion about the forum ? I doubt the “Forum Bugs” section would be the place to go post “Suggestions” on..

You can email forums@arena.net so the whole Community Team can see your suggestion. That being said, you’re making a fair point. Would this be something which would be valuable?

I can solo the molten bosses so I just wait until the group is small enough and then proceed. Mai Trin is harder as I just can’t see her tells, so I take most hits she does.

I think my issue with molten in pugs is that they argue about which to kill first, and it doesn’t matter which is targeted. They just kill whatever they feel like.

Just to clarify, my list of easy to hard is regarding inexperienced players. Because yes, any dungeon becomes easy if you do it a lot. I’ve tried to present an objective evaluation of their difficulty for players that are NOT experienced at them. Dungeons that contain bosses with insta-kills and nasty gimmicks, are rated higher in difficulty than others. This includes for example the insta-kills that Kudu does in SE. Such opponents can cause a few wipes. I also consider Subject Alpha as a slightly harder opponent than most others, for a newb that is.

Almost any dungeon boss has insta down gimmicks.

I’m saying, pug wise, TA and COE are not difficult. They can be done by iffy experienced folks. CM however, for me anyway, I’ve never found a good CM pug.

SE is definitely easy. Both story and all explore modes are completed well under 2 hours for all of them even if not familiar with the paths (watch youtube if nobody has run them).

Yes only one that can kill pugs or non organized is p2 and even so, still straightforward and easy.

TA and CoE are not hard, in the least. I recommend both of these, as all paths are easy to pug and very fun. The TA Aether is the only path that may be difficult to pug.

Wow. Is there a reason for this? Do you get a warning that your skin will be wiped?

Doesn’t this pretty much discourage people from putting skins on their gear and thus causes fewer skins to be sold in the gemstore?

… It’s just for fractal back pieces…. It’s not all that huge. The only back pieces in hype gem store are the quaggan backpacks, charr backpacks, and such…. It increases the amount bought due to splitters and stones and stuff.
