I don’t think so. They’re doing glory because I think, the primarily pvp players do not have much by way of “rewards” so this way they can do pvp and have gold to do other things.

For instance, dungeoneers get tokens but they also make gold. Even if they only do dungeons they can use that gold throughout the game on pretty much anything. Same with wvwers.

Pvpers had glory which could only be used in pvp. That currency could not be translated to other things (because everything was account bound).

This is my opinion and understanding of it.

Zojja’s Berserker ascended HAS THE EXACT same +Crit as Exotics!

So i don’t see much point in moving to ascended Berserker as the stats are next to NOTHING … its really strange Berserker ascended has a lower upgrade then any other ascended armor stat now because it missing out on any +crit increase.

I would wager that it is the inherent +5% damage boost just from the weapon damage…
Also, ascended two handers get +1% more critical damage than exotics.

I wish I could give the crystals away to people like you. Having 150 of them with no purpose apart from making and salvaging is useless to me. TL;DR: It should be 12 times as hard to gear 12 alts as it is to gear 1. That’s the way math works. They’re already nice enough to let our insignia recipes and armor recipes remain as they are. So you only need 30 laurels for 1, 5, 12, or 100 characters. (Or if you are really stubborn and have to have different stats you should only really need 2-3 different types of stats because most stat sets are useless and terrible).

This is the last time I impart my knowledge and logic onto this useless thread. If you can’t accept the ascended armor being difficult to get, play a different game.

Maybe that’s a good idea but … if people actually looked at the stats increase over exotic, maybe they wouldn’t be cluelessly crafting it for WvW to begin with or even care if you could transfer it between characters on the same account. IIRC, the stat difference is pretty worthless.

Totally agree. One set for me, maybe 2 if I care enough in the next year. There’s no sense in making more than that. No matter how many alts. Rather spend that gold on legendaries.

Someone forgot you can do stuff in Exotic armor. It is YOUR choice to gear up any number of characters you want. You aren’t being forced to do it. In fact, the idea that fractal level is account wide is a BLESSING for people with 8 characters.

Yeah…. But they’re under the delusion that this gear will make them bad at wvw if they don’t have more than one character in it. I think they think that 1 set should be transferable across all characters and have it be changeable stats. Like legendary account bound armor, or something.

What I think is the worst thing about time gated content/gear etc is that if you want to have it the quickest possible way, you NEED to log in every day and make sure you do certain things in game EVERY DAY (daily / farming for monthly, crafting daily parts etc).

If you miss few days, you can not “play more to close the gap”, like you could with exotics or any other stuff, when you can just log in and play more one day (got more gold / karma) and it somehow balanced your break from the game.

So if you don’t have a lot time for playing but you want to quickly get ascended armor – you need to make sure that each day you do those activities which might not be the things you actually enjoy. also, it may leave you with little to no time to do things you like doing. – BAD

On the other hand, if you are the one who plays a lot – it won’t matter as it will not fasten the process of obtaining set. – BAD

What I mean is things like dailies / laurels being the only currency for certain things gives you a feeling of urgency, that you HAVE to log in, be it just for those activites. If it is like that, you start to treat the game as a job – BAD

I can understand it from ArenaNets point, as they want players logging every day. but for players, it is just a cheap trick that indirectly forces you (if you want to get this gear) into doing certain things in game every day in order not to stay behind with gear.

You can buy the cloth and stuff with gold. If you have enough gold or It means so much you are willing to spend RL money you don’t have to sign on everyday. You can sign in once, pay 100$ or however much it would be, and have your equipment that day.

Except for the laurels. But I mean 30 isn’t that much. Given monthlies and dailies and AP rewards it’s like 2 weeks and unless you’ve spent them All (which I did, but that’s because I like dyes and don’t care about getting equipment the day of) you should have enough in at most a month.

I just don’t feel like they’re asking for all that much in a B2P mmo to have players stick around and play a bit each week and have to work a little to get so called BiS gear which is more BS than anything.

Ascended armor and weapons and legendary weapons are NOT MEANT for every alt and every character and every player. They aren’t. That’s the truth. If you really can’t accept that get Pokemon and an action replay (game shark for us older folk) and get your unlimited rare candies for free and your stat increases for free. You won’t have to worry about ascended armor ever again.

Patch notes say the following: Conjure Frost Bow, Conjure Flame Axe, and Conjure Lightning Hammer: These abilities will no longer go on full cooldown when interrupted.

I do know FGS is bugged underwater (though in a harmless way- you can summon it underwater where you couldn’t before, and though you won’t get the weapon, you’ll get the power boost), but that’s the only bugged skill I can think of aside from RTL occasionally not hitting targets (which I think is a terrain issue rather than an actual bug).

Ah did not see that in the notes… But yeah. Not that many bugs for us. Love the elementalist! Now for trying to find a new build with the trait changes

I think that the math given by Fror proves my point. There isn’t a significant increase in stats for it to actually matter. Don’t be mad at me that the grind is “unreasonable”, because wanting / feeling the need to quickly equip more than 2 or 3 characters immediately seems unreasonable to me.

Punishing is taking away progress or items. Punishment is banning and flood control. Adding a grind for the highest gear that is really only used as a prestige item is not punishment. It is anet’s way of keeping people in the game working on something.

I gifted 1 key, then bought 25 At the discount, and then had to gift one more key to get the discount again. Wasn’t all that bad. Lol

Yeah this is the last patch till late January, so I’m guessing they’re holding out so they can put stuff in the store over the course of the event.

Why would you delete a char you deem the cutest ever? But no, my Asura is cuter. Haha. But yes I wish that this would come back, I missed out on it last year and that was saddening…

It’s not our heritage armor. It’s the gem store skins, the 500 gem ones, that they get to choose.

I completely understand OP about the high amount of laurels needed for people with a lot of alts. I have 5 lvl 80s and plan on equipping at least three of those 80s with ascended armors. That being said, we all just need to learn to wait and enjoy the progress while we wait. If we get everything in less than a week, we would be bored and complaining for more things soon enough. So, yes I wish we could spend less laurels, but I also understand why: It would feel so good once we get all our ascended pieces together!

The non agony slots were added because non fractal runners wanted something more beneficial to them, so to make it fair, anet went with it. We fractal runners went and did our own time gated nonsense to get amulets and accessories so that we could participate in high level fractals. Because that’s what they’re for. Then weapons, which most often drop in fractals than anywhere else, and now armor. It’s time gated. Yes. Because anet does not want us getting these as quick and easy as we did exotics. They didn’t want that. They were shocked at how quickly that happened. So they had to introduce this to be time gated. And gold gated. So only the richest and most dedicated players could have a set or two. If it was Lt friendly, it would be too easy for someone with 1 80 (the majority of the player base) to get it, and they do not want that.

This game is not alt friendly. It never will be. They were nice when they made fractals account bound, but asking for more than that is asking anet to sign a death certificate to the game and it’s development because as soon as hardcores and dedicated players have nothing left to work for, the numbers will drop and so will their RL loot.

Edit: oh blues and greens, yeah, my 11 alts have those because why waste the gold and karma and …. Other nonsense on them? They’re there so I can have fun. My hardcore fully geared main is for the hardcore fully geared content. The others are for aesthetics, mixing it up so I don’t get bored, and learning how other classes work so they can be wrecked in pvp or wvw. Not that I do that often. But I dabble.

But… You… Don’t need…. Ascended to play wvw?

A good player in exotics against a bad player in ascended should be fine. A good player in exotics against an equally good player in ascended would lose, yes, but who says you need 12 characters in ascended to have fun in wvw? Because at most you need 8 and you probably only need 1-3 if you have no real main class. You probably have 1-3 characters you mainly play in wvw, so sure, gear away if losing 5% of the one on one duels you have (if you’re a good player, which I’m assuming because I’m nice) really matters that much gold to you.

Oh so you like the ascended gear looks enough to want 12 copies?

Dude, the fractal level is about to be account wide, so your point is not valid, and theres also wvw where you want the max stats to survive more and do more dmg. so your point about just fractals is just not logic.

Fun fact: Gem story money goes to NCSoft, not ANet. NCSoft can and does use that money for anything they want, including development of entirely unrelated games. It has no direct connection to the game you’re purchasing it for and doesn’t specifically support that game.

John Smith is always speaking to the bltc folks. He is almost always relevant, and sometimes he’s just funny. If I was a big member of that community, I would feel like anet has some amazing devs and CCs etc etc, and I would feel appreciative. But I don’t see why a message, even if it’s a terrible one for us, like "guys you can stop posting here because we don’t care because of reasons " I would feel better. I would move on, and let the thread die. And still probably play and pay just as much, because that’s how I am.

Can anyone tell me what the pristine to regular rate is?

I haven’t seen the numbers but with 6 armor pieces, bolts of damask are going to be in high demand. Anything that goes into them should have a fairly steady price after the initial weirdness due to market speculation. I’m waiting to craft my armor until that happens, personally.

People hoarded, price has peaked? People are now unloading. More on the market, means cheaper product.

I’m just wondering if it is permanently in the store. Can’t really afford them now with all the keys I intend on Buying for friends this month.
