Its also a very old weapon. To be fair, today’s legendaries kind of look like crap compared to the BLC weapons we get anymore, but of course were the creme de la creme at launch.

I would hope if this one made it in it would be a lot more updated, but that’s a big if.

Same as druid is a specialization for a Ranger.

Yeah I have to wonder about this. While they are race-bound, some are unique to classes (like some things rangers or necros say regarding pets). I wonder if we will hear anything new from revenants? Would be awesome, but I won’t be super surprised if all the human revenants run faster than centaurs.

So.. while I think it would be cool if there was a way to fix the ‘zerk problem’ (and I’m full ascended zerk).. this guy pretty much beat me to it. Kind of getting the impression OP is just bitter about the situation. If I want to be lazy in PvE, I’ll run my soldier stuff.

I imagine the way Colin mentioned people new to the game being able to be on the same footing, it will be all ready to go at launch

Probably a compromise… use one of my many level 20 tomes, and then more to get around 40 or 50. After that maybe the normal way and doing the PS… but to echo another poster, yeah, I have all classes at 80 that mostly levelled the hard way. I had a lot of fun exploring the world the first time around but just can’t really do it again.

This is what I came to say. The PAX announcement made it pretty clear “this is where we’ve decided to take skill progression”, the single specialization is a start in this brand new project but I have no reason to doubt we will have more options in the future. Its very possible they were afraid to offer too much (even if its just two) right away so they can keep an eye on things like balance.

I really want to go after Jormag next (no.. not because I’m such a norn fan.. what?), would love the change of scenery after so much jungle/desert stuff. But I wouldn’t doubt at all that this would lead us into Primordus.

Have you tried here? Just press the wvw icon on the upper left of the screen to enter eternal battlegrounds (you may be in a queue). You will be scaled to 80 but expect potential enemy players. Most can sneak in and out fine. Whisper me tomorrow if you still have trouble finding them. I probably cant help with wvw unless were in the same tier of servers but maybe I can help double check the other areas.

As much as I would have loved to play a Tengu, because we got a new class I’m glad we didn’t get the new race… most people would probably default to “tengu revenant”. Adding a new race later without a new class will add a bit of variety I think

I really want that Staff now, especially as I can make my Ranger a druid.

I’m really trying to not get my hopes up because its already so old and may be scrapped at this point, but it is just so perfect.

I’m really excited to see the new legendaries. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first set with so many silly weapons (and I’m sure we will see more, which is fine for those that like them) but I did have to make a Howler and I love it!

But when hearing we would have a new set I would love to get a little teaser!

On a side note, as a norn ranger… if this ends up being the legendary staff I might actually die!

I never played GW1, but I enjoy learning old lore and about the game and knew that apparently the old Maguuma jungle had a lot of dinosaurs in it. Players have wondered since what happened to them… some of these enemies seem kind of ‘dinosauric’, I wonder if they were all corrupted?

I dont think its that unrealistic. Theyve already been working on this a long time, and we dont even know if the players will be able to beta test it other than pax. As someone mentioned in another thread, it seems they are taking the “apple approach”. The product is fairly done, we got hit hard with what were going to get and itll be released before the hype really dies down. Sure I could be wrong, but its still my bet.

Each profession will be getting access to at least one weapon type previously unavailable (so far we know for sure Ranger gets Staff, Necromancer gets Greatsword, Engineer gets hammer, Mesmer gets shield, and Theif possibly gets Rifle) through specialization.

However, as far as brand new weapon types, they didn’t mention or show any. Which doesn’t 100% mean there aren’t any, but I feel they would have mentioned it if there were, since its something people have been clamouring about for a while.

We DID see Rytlock using a spear or polearm of some sort, which may mean Revenant gets land-based spears (and could mean other professions might as well through specs, I could see Warrior getting it for instance), but I’m not sure if that really counts as “new” since spears do exist in the game. And its also not confirmed and might just be something Rytlock can do it cutscenes or just something only Rytlock can do period, or some are speculating it might just be a physical staff or something.

Would be cool if a new weapon, but could also be a staff that is now being used as a melee weapon.

There was a thread a while back where a guy posted about how he had a friend try out the game. OP posted a sample of chat and in that short section, he had made 3 negative remarks about the NPE and leveling. The friend quit after a couple of days.

The point is, don’t invite your gf to play the game and then make remarks about how bad parts of it is. No one wants to play a bad game.

I’m not saying, be anything but honest. But you can answer truthfully without stating your opinion. If you don’t like something, state the facts and nothing but the facts.
She may like something you hate or not even notice it, but If you prejudice her ahead of time she will approach it knowing she dislikes it. If she knows ahead of time that X is bad and Y is only for noobs and this is all she knows about the game then she will only try out the game to humor you and leave as soon as reasonable.

Ugh… yeah. I read that thread and thought “well of course that guy quit.”

One recommendation I have as not only a woman but a half of a gamer couple is to help her get social. Specifically, other gamer couples and women. Im not saying guys arent great to play with, they totally are! But if she is new to gaming and may already have a mindset of expecting mostly single men playing, make sure she can make some girlfriends or you guys can “double date” play with other couples. I always loved doing this. Having
been a gamer my whole life grew me some thicker skin when it comes to the whole “video games are for guys” mentality (especially in the 90s) but… earlier in the game I was in a guild with ALL men. Made some awesome friends and they werent bad guys at all… but after a while I had to ask them to lay off of some constant sexist/kitchen jokes. Can be funny, but get old very fast when you hear them over and over and could be an easy way to turn a new female gamer off from MMOs.

Edit: I realize you were moreso talking about the NPE but I just figured id mention all of this if she was new to the mmo experience.

I’m wondering when exactly this begins. In other games I’ve seen double exp weekends start on a friday afternoon. It seems like its implied when the PAX thing starts tomorrow, but I can’t seem to find an answer?

This whole ‘zhaitan may still be alive’ thing is pretty popular speculation… but I hope it isn’t true. Or at least, if it is, its more the ‘he can’t die because he is a force of nature and will “awaken” again in some crazy number of years after were all gone.’

Its taken us 2 and a half years to get to the second dragon (and it seems we’re only now really going after it), I’ll be pretty irritated if it seems like those years and the personal story was all for nothing because “haha guess what he’s still alive!”

My bf and I both had this problem after the patch today, this fixed it for us.

Well I was under the impression Anet’s view was a ‘turn the other cheek’ on this, especially with how much clickable crap is in this game. I’ll admit right now I use a macro to open ToT bags for the mini, though now I guess I will go back to manually clicking. I just don’t understand.. I have opened 108,000 bags for this mini and still not gotten it. I am supposed to manually click that many times and the RNG is still that bad? And how about all the luck that comes from them? I know you can upgrade them but that is still a HUGE amount from those bags. To give you an idea, I started at somewhere around 120% and I am now 260%. Even with the macro, my fingers hurt after a while.

Hi everyone!

Exactly as the title says, my friends are I are looking to join a guild. As many people, we’d like one that does a lot of all-around group activity. Probably more PvE, but PvP is also nice as we occasionally get into that, but I’ll mention more about it. Guild missions, fractals and dungeons, ect. Something that is medium-large would be nice. Big enough we can do activities like this, but not so large that it becomes cliquey, we want to make friends and know our guildmates! We are based in SF, but as we are not huge WvWers, any server guild would be great. Oh and some kind of voice-coms is preferred.

So about us, and I’ll start with me. I’m a since-beta vet in this game, with pretty much owning all I have wanted in the game so far (except gambling my money away for the mini gwynefryrrd.) Have my legendary, full ascended gear, the works. I still have yet to do Arah exp, and I haven’t done fractals since the update but would LOVE to get back into them! Used to do them all the time. As with many I reset back to level 30, and unfortunately pugs don’t seem to want to teach how to do the ‘new’ ones. I have an 80 of every class (except theif, currently mid-60s) but I primary play my ranger. Don’t worry, she isn’t bearbow! My boyfriend played this game as well and may come back sometime, so he would be another guildie to add. I have done guild missions before a long ways back, but might need some refreshers. For the most part, I’ll know what I’m doing and won’t need a lot of help in the game. I mostly PvE and sPvP. WvW is meh for me, loved open world pvp in other games but WvW just never really ‘got’ me. However, this was also a long time ago and would be willing to do it some more if by chance we joined a SF-based guild.

My two friends joining; firstly, they are a gay couple. I wanted to start off saying that to avoid some less-than friendly guilds that might throw out slurs a lot or give them a hard time. One of them played this game closer to launch and left, so he is re-learning a lot. One reason we are looking for a guild is he has the most fun in groups and dungeons, which is harder for us to do alone of course, so his boredom is kicking in. His boyfriend is very new to gaming in general, only been doing it for so many months, but he enjoys it. He is a bit more of a social butterfly though and needs some friends, more guild-joining reasons! Right now neither of them have done any PvP, but would probably be interested to try with a group that would not give them too much crap while they are learning.

Its gone through a lot of changes… when I first started making it, the only thing it did was the nighttime howl + moon glow, got the precursor for 20g back then.

Then they added the mist and footfalls like, a year or year and a half back or so.

The ghostly image of the wold howling when you use it came after that.

Then they removed the original nighttime howl and moon glow.

SO.. at the current moment, it has a misty effect, misty footfalls, and the ghostly wolf that howls when you use it. I would be happy to show it to you if you like. I’m very happy with it, but I also collect wolf stuff on this char so I’m biased. Just funny that now it isn’t at all what it was at release.

Here’s an image of the wolf that appears, it kind of howls and floats off, screenie is hard to really capture it of course.

I should add as well, it may be subpar to some of the other legendaries, but like that it isn’t as gaudy and its a lot less common

I had returned from the game back in summer to find that the howling, moon glow at night, and animation have been taken away from the game. Kind of bummed about it (I’ve had howler since early game, they grew on me!) but I understand removing the howling. I know that got annoying for people. But I just returned to the game after another 6 month break and intend to stay a while, and I can see these still aren’t here.

Are there any plans to bring back the animation and moon glow at nighttime? Or is that just scrapped completely at this point?

I agree with Tengu being first pick for reasons that have been stated a number of times.

I secondly think Largos because of the mystery and Bubbles. I mean really, if Largos were taken out of the GW2 universe there would be no real change. A slight tweak to that one personal story is all… which tells me they were put there for some reason.

Kodan is a popular choice, but I think they’re too similar to norn.

Hey guys! So I have not been active in the game since spring. Last year I had started to really get into spvp, had a nice spirit build and could really hold my own. Wasn’t amazing, but I wasn’t a pushover either. I have recently returned, saw there has been some rework to rangers and changed up my skills and traits to a more burst power ranger in spvp… and it is just painful to watch, I am paper.

Problem is, I was trying to look at guides or info but I seem to keep finding “old” stuff. Any advice for spvp since some of these changes? Are spirit rangers still the way to go? Or hell, even just a link to a current build anyone is using will do for me to try out!

(I also see all the rework with equipment and whatnot, I assume the stats still don’t carry but I’m a little confused how this all works, if someone could point me in a direction with that now? I just remember having to have a certain amulet.)

Thats actually the only place ive ever seen it. Theres a svanir event near, when it triggers and the svanir come Wolf walks down the cliff and disappears. After the event is over, he walks back up and chills there again. If anyone goes there and sees wolf isnt up, just talk to the shaman right there at the shrine to do event.
