No point in getting that little bit more dmg in if you can’t hit your target, that’s why I prefer hydro and leeching, cause swapping to gs when your ontop of your target to get the dmg from the sigils and wwa is where it’s at
Free combo finishers while everyone else would have to use a cool down, u can start off with a stealth advantage already which I think would be too much. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, shrug* but I’m leaning more on the bad side coming from a wvw pov

What’s the point of going full celestial? I don’t think mesmer does hybrid damage very well unless you go full viper or sinister. If the extra vitality and toughness is what you really want, then you’d be better off just mixing valkyrie/marauder/knight/cavalier with berserker for a power build, or mixing trailblazer/dire with rabid for a condi build. I don’t know of any use for healing power on mesmer, so that means they’re aren’t any reasons left to use celestial. Am I right?

hi, I haven’t been keeping up with mesmers lately, decided to remake another one, I had an extra set of full celestial ascended stuff from my ele and was wondering if there was any build that can utilize a celestial set on Mesmer for wvw to mess around with before I change the stats

not liking the balanced stance change for wvw.. its useless when I run into a large group, cc runs out too fast to get any distance.
before i could at least get distance to run or get defensive if i had to, now those 2 stabs run out, i run a couple steps before i getcced, stab comes back up, run another couple steps… get cced again… guess ill swap out to dol sig

I kinda like that idea of the trait removing an extra stack (or two) of stability when you cc someone. Should it apply to all crowd control skills like shield bash, Bloody Roar, Headbutt, and ect?
I was thinking more of just hammer to completely remove stability, to give up one cc so u can utilize the other CCs.
And I was thinking an entire stability buff not just a stack of two since most people can have a million stacks of stability.
This way the hammer would at least have a good utility use also to be a weapon swap, not just a main weapon

Warriors aren’t the best , but there’s enough negativity already so please don’t say that
This applies for all professions, but especially more for warrior and thieves imo, get familiar with all the other professions, or at least have a small idea on their builds and skills so you can learn to out play them, it’s going to really help for spvp and wvw
The whole reason I bought this game was because I saw a clip on the G4 network or show, dunno I don’t watch much tv, but I saw the wvw scene where they were talking about 3 entire servers just on a map like a war one just killing each other. When this game first started it was like that, people scattered every, people fighting solo, small groups, zergs, all killing each other, now when someone gets killed, they get all mad for that same reason… I think most roamers feel the same way about that, there’s a part of them that’s in wvw to kill people, whether it’s capping objectives also, dueling, ganking, it’s all still part of wvw where people go in to well, go versus other worlds, not just cap tower for ponts and worry about ticks

How can u casually flip a camp that’s going to affect points, can give supplies to that one ram that’ll flip a keep or take away supplies to defend a keep, and not consider that that person that killed you could’ve reversed all that?
Nothing that’ll effect the points, but bigger rewards for something captured with less people? Maybe instead of that 12 copper, it’ll increase to 15 18 or do indare say 20?
Sarcasm aside, maybe that’ll encourage people to go in smaller groups, making the map more busy instead of just zerging in 1 big blob
I really, really do not like Sword 3 on warrior. It’s a stupidly situational skill, and, with the Sword 2 ALSO being situational, makes sword “2-1-1-1-F1-1-1-1-1” And the burst conflicts with the otherwise good mobility of sword because it’s a root (Something Zerker sword burst fixes).
See, and I like Final Thrust a lot. It may not be so useful in pve, but against other players it hits almost as hard as an eviscerate and it cleaves. The highest damage I’ve had with it against a player is about 12k or so, and then about 25k against an NPC (Tower Lord).
Deff not situational, pretty easy to know when a target is 50% or lower, either flurry or stun them for the guaranteed land, I’ve had it hit for 13k against 2 thieves and killed them both instantly, which was funny because it was after a HB, standing still, and I was about to go down and just threw it out as a hail mary. I’ll never be able to re-create that lol. Just wish the animation was faster.
By ‘situational’, I meant that the mechanical use of it is is almost purely ’Wait for opposing healthbar to reach 50% before using".
Thats one of the problems with mh sword, you really only want to use thrust when an opponent is below 50% for that extra damage, basically leaving you with 2 weak skills to damage them. If you have a power based build that bleed on auto attack is basically useless.
I think the focus on warrior should be on mobility and melee fighting, it bothers me to see rifle used so often, as a main weapon, when it used to be just a situational option.
After playing warrior since pretty much the start, I agree with you on the mobility and memes fighting , that’s one of the reasons I like the sword right now, it’s not really a weapon on its own, but it’s adding mobility, utility, and weapon swap sigil cool downs to your other set.
That’s where I personally think the strong point for warriors are at, fast hands, the ability to use short cool downs and maximize weapon swap sigils

You could try sigil of absorption and draining on the hammer, if ur front line Zerg busting, ur bound to interrupt something with those CCs on hammer to leech life, and rip boons. I was skeptical using it on my hammer with all the stability at first, but like I said, in a Zerg someone’s usually getting interrupted

Yea hate it when this happens, one time it happened to me next to a towers wall, I somehow flew into the tower and it started tripping out and I just kept teleporting ontop of the wall and back outside to the ground outside maybe around 10 times and I eventually got stuck inside the wall and died for no reason maybe after 10 secs or so
What I would like, although I’m sure people won’t like since everyone hates clutter on the screen, is maybe another small row on the ui for siege so I don’t have to always keep opening up my inventory, double clicking then closing my inventory to throw seige out
Maybe make it optional to show up on the ui or not, able to set some hot keys
I probably didn’t make itclear, I know the hammer isn’t the best option, I know the downsides to it, I was just simply asking if anyone else has been running it also and seeing their feedback on it.
I will say though, I thought I was going to get kited all day, but with all the mobility from gs, even wasting dodges with the vigor I get and wasting earthshakers to close gaps,( I guess not really wasted since it helps me land hits afterwards) I’ve been able to stick to most things I’ve run into, except for Druids that run with a lb

SPent time in earnesst with it since HOt but I didn’t like it cause it lacked damaged, I had fewer moves to play on longer cd
Merciless hammer completely fixes all that. 8k backbreakers and 6k fierce blows are pretty common here. Not to mention the CD of fierce blow becomes so low you can nearly maintain 100% weakness uptime. I completely ditch Heightened Focus when playing hammer/gs now. With Sigil of int and force on hammer the dmg you can pull during CC chains is insane. If I want quickness that much I’ll just grab Frenzy, I mean last stand + balanced stance is already amazing stability uptime I could honestly go without. Plus frenzy breaks stuns too.
Yea that’s kinda what I mean, it seems like a half the time also even with stab up on my target, and I don’t get the bonus dmg from Merciless hammer I still get enough dmg in and people just don’t dodge cause they go " hammer cc? Well I got stab" and just don’t dodge and just eat the dmg I’m still throwing out.
But it’s still like how some of u mentioned, not the best set, but it just seems like I’m having a waaayyy easier time overall than I thought that I would running it
Has anyone else been running hammer lately for roaming in wvw? I’ve been running vanilla warrior zerk gs hammer and it’s like everyone has forgotten how to fight a hammer warrior and it’s been cake. I love the ecto gambling , I got 3 of the shared inventory slots, 2 for my perms salvage kit and one for the ecto gambling, which also servers as my personal vendor. I’ve made plenty of gold with to the point of where I just spend gold on stuff just because. When I was making my twilight, just for fun I decided to start from scratch and see how long it’ll take me by just gambling Ectos and fsrming gold just to gamble Ectos , it took me only 1 week to get the gold to craft it.

I’m on the same boat as nicknamenick with the 2700ish, I run power but my only toughness comes from having ascended Knights armor and def line and I have zerk everything else. It’s a little more than 2700 but I also hop in zergs with it so I like having a little bit more, but when I go solo roaming, it does feel like I have more than I need. Hope that gives you a better idea statwise

Yeah the weapon set and/or traits for Pistol need to have something for AOE. Desperado type skill would be nice to give more incentive to weave in and out of combat instead of just sitting on the side shooting from a distance.

As others have said, I would go with str runes also now, since the nerf to – condi food, I noticed the difference with it and hoelbrak, and it’s not doing as good of a job anymore.
I guess this is preference but I also prefer the hydromancy and leeching sigils on my gs instead for a bit of more burst dmg when I land that flurry hb combo. I use the sword shield more for kiting around more so I stick a cleansing and energy sigil in it.
Had a match where I was in an all necro team, we were all in mid since th match was about to end and a thief popped up in the middle , every necro just landed a reapershroud 5 on him at the same time, very satisfying, irrelevant, but just wanted to add to this post

What kind of engage do you do ? is it steal + pistol whip ? or do you engage with #2 and use pistol whip only for defensive purpose ?
You see, there is a lot of question behind a build, which was the point of my thread.
Whoops, that was only half my post, that’s what happened when I go forum surfing on the toilet at work on my phone .
But anyways, for that build specifically, I usually just use sword 2 to open and try to land a pistolwhip to interrupt. I save my steal for when they have stab up since it prioritizes stab for stealing boons, I believe it’s aegis first then stab? Or something like that, but I go for a very defensive, hit and run style. I like to save all my utilities for when they go for a burst of a condi bomb so I can gain some distance to recover from it, especially my bas venom to convert those condis. But that’s pretty much my main concern with this build, watching condis on me, and watching my initiative, everything else is just profit since I either evade that will heal my hp and initiative, or interrupt that will heal and steal boons.
