Could we get DX12 with the next expansion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lobo Dela Noche.5127

I am a computer noob, what would be the difference if we switched to DX12?

According to the devs it would be a much bigger investment than its worth.

That’s what the devs and all the white knights said about the 64 bit client too. And guess what, the 64 bit client helped tremendously with the crashes. They make the excuses because they don’t want to do it not because it won’t help. They would rather spend the dev time on something they can market in the gem store.

[Suggestion] Open All Bags on Right Click

Lobo Dela Noche.5127

With Silverwastes, DryTop, Heart of Thorns maps there are more loot. But this loot has bags within the loot. Sometimes there are bags, within bags, within the bags! It leads to a ton of unnecessary and time consuming clicking.

Suggestion:
Allow us to right click one bag and click “Open All.”
This will open bags that are within the first bag.

The current system adds frustration, when you feel you’ve taken care of your inventory to only to find 1-2 sub bags you forgot to open.

Please, comment if you agree with this change so it won’t go to the forum Graveyard. Thanks.

Its a great idea. Right click the stack and select open all. Then it stops opening bags when inventory is full. I can see this generating some lag though if to many people did it at once in the same instance.

Its obsolete because gliding works in SPVP and WvW. Its obsolete because the fields and effects don’t work anymore. newbs

The warrior fall trait is one of the most fun in the game. I defended a tower by myself against 8 guys by knocking the enemy off their rams over and over. Jump down run back inside and on top of the gate to jump again. My guildy was laughing his kitten off. Their is plenty of uses. You could say that in PVE everything is obsolete except for spamming 11111. Its not true but you can say it.

Glass cannon strategy: exploit?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lobo Dela Noche.5127

Lobo Dela Noche.5127

Why is it an exploit if you do it as a glass cannon and not if you do the exact same thing on a tankier build. Its not an exploit if its working as intended. Stupid question is stupid because the answer is obvious. This is just a troll post to kitten about glass cannons AKA berserker gear. I wear glass canon gear on most of my characters( the 2 with ascended wear full celestial the others all wear berzerker) I can do any group content with out dying and when the odd thing kills me, it kills me regardless of gear. For example the the MK Golem world boss, sometimes his electricity catches you and even in full PTV or CDTV you die. Which is why I have switched to DPS gear, if something is going to kill you anyways you might as well build for DPS to kill faster and take reduced damage that way and rely on player skill for the big stuff.

Not sure why I even reply to this. If you don’t like berserker gear then do not use and please stop worrying about how other people play. It doesn’t affect you, this game isn’t SWG were you or your group have to out damage others to gain loot rights. Other people’s play style can only affect you mentally if you allow it in PVE. In no other way does another person’s playstyle affect you in PVE.

Want the old maps back?[186 Signs]

I want the old ones back. I also want them to get rid of the stupid ideas that are stopping them from making the current maps functional. The waypoints being the biggest annoyances. Because of the state of the desert BLs it scares me that even if they do bring back the old maps that they will end up screwing those up because of a new vision they want to incorporate. I’m not saying I want WvW to sit stagnant though. We all know that there are somethings that need to be done but what I see is them doing is the complete opposite of what people are asking for. Its like someone with a big ego gets an idea and even though its in direct conflict with what WvW players want(less PVE for instance) that person with the big ego thinks its cool so it gets pushed through anyways. This I see as one of the biggest issues with the entire game. They keep adding things they personally think is cool and not what the actual community wants.

But yeah, bring back the old Alpine BLs exactly as they were.

Isn’t that why they introduced the 5-shared inventory slots in the gemstore?

1. Permanent Bank Access Express
2. Personal Trader Express
3. Tarrktun Personal Delivery Portal
4. Copper Fed Salvage-o-Matic
5. Mystic Forge Conduit

Yeah.. Sorry I’m not gonna put keys in a 700 gem slots.

At 100 gems a pop I would have bought 20 of those slots. Having a cap of 5 slots and for the price they go for I will not be buying them.

An account key ring or adding keys to the wallet would be a very nice addition.

I’m sure they will still be able to participate in the same way they currently can. Its not like they will make it mandatory to bomb him. Gliding will not be given to F2P. you get it with masteries and need HoT. If you want to glide buy HoT.

Meh, most of the new items coming out always has entitled people QQing over how “overpriced” everything is. Reminder that gems can be earned via ingame gold, you dont HAVE to spend real money and buying it is like buying stuff like copper salvage kit its not needed but its just there as a QoL thing.

I’m going to repeat this for everyone white knitting this with out a good reason.

Nobody is arguing that they aren’t QoL items. The problem is the price. A set of these cost more than the expansion. Does a set of these really bring more to the table than the expansion to warrant these prices. And if so please explain how/why.

Edited. Looks like buying them all at once only cost $35 bucks which is a kitteneaper than the expansion. It still is overpriced IMO though.

It’s worth it on people who’re smarter.

Put permanent bank access, permanent TP access, Permanent copper salvage kit, Permanent Mystic forge conduit, and Permanent Merchant access, and you’d never need to visit any city on any of your toons anymore.

To utilize it in a single slot, just bring Permanent Bank, and put the other 4 in inventory.

Single slot is alot. You just have to think it smart before you cry.

Because you’ll have more leeway for jumps giving wider windows to release mouse buttons. On the pirate jumping puzzle (Harathi I think) for example you can jump from a beam to the pirate ship with gliding instead of carefully jumping to the ship’s sails.

It will not “trivialize” it though. It might make some jumps easier but “trivialize” is not the correct description. “Trivializing” would be like making a ramp that you can walk to the chest rather than doing any jumping at all. Easier, yes. “Trivializing”, no. More fun, YES!

I really have no idea why people think this is overpriced. Sure, it could be a little cheaper, but compared to having to buy any item from the gem store for even 2, let alone 5+ characters is going to be made WAY cheaper with just 1 of these slots. You can store a Infinite-use bank, harvesting tools, salvage-o-matics, legendaries, etc. All worth at least 700 gems, if not far more. These shared slots aren’t meant to store everything you own. I would prefer they add additional slots exclusively for equipment, in sets of 6 or so, for the same price, but other than that, I think it’s reasonable, plus it’s very modular, they can add more slots as time goes on. But remember that because this isn’t for just anything, and it’s intended for super valuable stuff, it doesn’t (and shouldn’t) be super cheap. If they made a whole bag slot for 700 gems, that would be less than 40 gems for 1 slot, 1 slot that could hold something like a permanent infinite-use bank item which prior to this you would need 1 per character. This addition will potentially take a lot of other sales from ANet, so appreciate it for what it does, and not what it isn’t.

For a set of them it cost more than HoT. So either Arenanet is saying Hot content is lacking so much its worth less than a some inventory slots or someone made a mistake and these slots are way overpriced. Its like a car costing $40,000 and the floor mats costing $50,000.

I was debating doing some more map completion with my alts, and this will make it waaaay more fun. I hope this doesn’t cost too many mastery points, just spent all of mine

I have jumped a survived many times. Its called using a WP before you splat.

Its funny to get people to jump with you. Then you WP away and they go splat.

Are there any jumping puzzles where gliding would help? (or are they all upwards jumps?)

The only one that I can think of is the griffon one with the bomb. I think it was in Timberline. The rest don’t really start you off at a high elevation. It may also make some of the diving goggle jumps easier assuming it doesn’t cancel out the transformation. Easy way to check is to do the one in TD.

It’ll also make getting the more annoying gold coins in the SW jumping puzzle easier. The diving goggle port at the end takes you well above the cavern with the ship at the start which will let you glide to where most of the difficult ones are.

Silverwing, this post in another thread looks at what JPs could be affected by gliding due to not being completely vertical in design:

May want to check their detailed post out and see if others are also mentioned in that thread.

I welcome making JPs easier. It will make the stupid ones in silverwaste not be as broken as they currently are.

Nothing in core Tyria was built for gliding. Any benefit you would get from it would be fairly minimal. If you feel otherwise, please provide instances where people without gliding would be excluded.

Any time that gliding down a vertical area is faster than running around/down it, which is certainly not a minimal benefit, it is actually quite a large advantage in content such as map completion, or running from event chain to event chain.

I have 6 100% world completions. I really hope it get me 100% completion on my revenant faster. I wouldn’t call it a significant advantage. It is an advantage but more of a QoL advantage. Kind of like extra bank and inventory slots. Most of all its just fun though.

I would love to have gliding in Central Tyria. I find no use for mounts except for arenanet to have another expensive useless item in the gemstore. Waypoints already do what a mount can do but faster. If you can’t afford to use a waypoint then you are doing something wrong as the cost is negligible.

There are way more pros to adding gliding to Central Tyria then there are cons. The biggest is the amount of expansions arenanet will sell because of it. That alone should be more than enough reason for Arenanet to do it. Throw up some invisible walls so people don’t leave the map. Nothing else would need to be done. It might make some JPs easier to do but its not like it makes them impossible with out it. Most MMOs add new stuff with expansions that trivializes old content, normally its gear in guild wars it would be masteries. Not sure why it matters though, its almost 4 year old content who the hell cares if some of it is made eaiser to do.

/turned off sarcasm

As I said before, this expansion is not worth 45€ atm (feel bad for those that spent 100€). They hyped us with so much content and everything and we got gem shop expansion with nerfed core game rewards. Esports failed, balance failed, wvw borders are dead except EB. Only few armors that are obtainable through game. PVP is crap now, should I continue?…

Graphics of the expansion is one thing that is positive to me, praise to the graphic dev team. And some elite specs….

Very unhappy customer.

“Arena.net we nerf everything and today even the visuals, because we don’t know what are we doing with this game”

For real. It only takes a few seconds to click the best performance option when running with a large zerg in PVE or WvW. If someone is too dumb or stubborn to lower their graphics settings then they deserve the slide show. Rather than wasting dev time on nerfing visuals they should have made a popup with an option to check to never see the popup again. This popup would open when your FPS dips to slide show number and says “your frames suck and you are lagging like a kitten. Click here to increase your performance”. Then have a button in the popup window that sets the player to best performance. If that wasn’t enough then Arenanet could have made the new lame visuals an option in the graphics settings that would be set when on best performance.

It only seems bad because of the definition you made up for cost efficiency.

Pay attention to most of the game and the development, and you’ll see the effects of “cost efficiency” in action. Put things into better context…

Cost efficiency is using all of your resources (which have costs) to produce a product or service with a maximum outcome. It’s simply using your existing resources efficiency.

If you were talking about your family budget, then yes I’d say that’s exactly how cost efficiency works. However, I’ve worked in a few large corporations and cost effifiency is just slang for “squeeze every last drop until all you have left is a dry husk”. (at least that’s been my experiences)

I agree, in my experience its the words you hear as they try to squeeze every last penny they can before closures or sales.

So why wasn't gliding in new maps?

in WvW

Posted by: Lobo Dela Noche.5127

Lobo Dela Noche.5127

So, at some point along the development process – since the WvW maps were being designed at the same time as Heart of Thorns – didn’t any of the designers ever say,

“Hey, what about gliding? Shouldn’t we add that to WvW?”

No? Okay, wow. Because there is literally no good reason that the new maps weren’t designed with gliders in mind. Which makes no sense considering the verticality. Too much verticality, btw.

Especially from a marketing point of view. Did no marketers say, “We should add gliding as a feature to the new WvW maps but only people that purchase Heart of Thorns can glide.”

No? I would post an insult about the marketers but that would be bad in Anets eyes.

Anyways, that’s my post. Bye.

I am pretty sure the same person(s) that made the HoT maps made the desert BL. And they did so with gliding in mind and then someone decided only HoT maps get gliding so they removed it. That’s the only way I can imagine it was designed the way it is. I agree with you that gliding should be added as its such a waste only having it in HoT maps. I know people would have complained that it is P2W but I would have rather they used gliding as incentive for buying HoT. Rather than nerfing all the rewards in the old Tyria maps. IMO they should have made it so all masteries work in all parts of the game except for maybe in spvp. Gliding in WvW and Tyria PVE maps would have been awesome. So what if they trivializes a few things. After playing through the story I have not been back to the HoT maps so gliding might as well not even exist for me.

World vs World Holiday Sneak Peek

Lobo Dela Noche.5127

Requiring someone to go to the objective and click a button adds nothing to the game, unless you’re under the assumption that the enemy is going to bother camping the objective to wait for that one guy that’s going to run over and click it when they should be focusing on disrupting yaks.

If enough yak runs ahve already made it through for the objective to upgrade, the enemy has already failed. Making someone click a button doesn’t magically create fights. It just makes it easier to PvDoor, and creates less tanky objectives during off hours, during times they should be tankier to discourage easy night capping and encourage defense even at off hours.

I have many issues with this and I could write volumes about it but I’m not so briefly

1.)Capping a camp Perspective… With auto upgrades chances are smaller that I will encounter and enemy while capping it because there isn’t much reason for them to be in their 1/3. Might be some escorting yaks but honestly very few people even do this. So the excitement the enemy will probably be inc soon has dwindled down to boring camp capping. The number of fun fights I’ve had fighting players trying to upgrade a supply camp has been very frequent. Nowadays there isn’t anyone even close by because they have no reason to be and nothing invested in the upgrade. If a player has put the effort to run out and start an upgrade at a camp they usually want to defend it. If I run to a camp and see no upgrades going I see a boring cap and move on, but if it’s been upgraded to say t1 then I know someone has been there and I will watch for them with excitement. Auto upgrades completely removes this entire dynamic and makes the game boring. So basically with the proposed changes its now all about yaks and players fighting each other over yaks, but seeing how that is incredibly boring and barely anyone ever wants to escorts yaks ANET feels they can turn what people don’t like doing into a fun. LOL this falls into the realm of stupidity. The focus should be on the camps not the yaks. Yes I’ve had some good fights over a yak but mostly because an enemy was running by and saw me killing the yak and engaged me. Maybe 1 out of 100 yaks I encounter a player actually escorting a yak. But hey ANET if you think you can turn yak escorting into something exciting and bring more people into WVW… go for it lol. /cry

2.) Upgrading a Camp Perspective… this entire dynamic has been removed from game along with the players that enjoyed trying to get a camp upgraded. Sure I can go stand around a camp in hopes an enemy will show up, but seeing how I have no time invested in the upgrade I don’t really care, I have been made as useless as kittens on a maggot. Besides if it gets capped I just recap it and move on who cares about defending camps its rather pointless 90% of the time. Before HoT upgrading a camp was an active player participation thingy now its not… enough said!

3.)Gawd forbid people defending have busy work, its way more exciting to stand around in a tower(brings tower humping to a whole new level). Hey if ANET implements a few more automatic type stuff we can all stand at the spawn and watch the game and see who wins. /cry

4.)Placement/Refreshing siege Perspective… Here on earth refreshing siege has become such a thrilling experience you have to stand inline to get the opportunity. Now lets be real, siege doesn’t get refreshed anymore and siege refresh timers is the ultimate in boring busy work. In my opinion siege timers should be increased to 3 hours before we lose more players that are tired of running around refreshing siege, they must of died from boredom because here on SBI most of the siege refreshers have vanished. Probably did what I did, they stopped doing it because they were the only one doing it and gave up. Siege timers was a good idea but 60 minute timers was a terrible implementation. Maybe defending stuff might become a national sport if there were actually some siege in the towers when you got there. Furthermore with enemies placing 3-4-5-6-7-10 rams at the gate and bringing down gates so fast who has time to build siege much-less defend.

5.) Scouting Perspective… I use to enjoy doing this but running around refreshing siege burned me out and now that everything automatically upgrades there really isn’t much for me to do except escort yaks which 99% of players find incredibly boring. Oh wait ANET has some magical fix that is going to make yak escorting exciting, silly me! /cry

6.)Night capping… Lets have automatic upgrades so everything is fully upgraded during off periods so we can discourage all this night capping. Gawd forbid people actually want to play WVW during off hours and if they do lets make it hard for them. Realm of the stupidity again!
During off time we need things to be easier or the few new players they do decide to come check out WVW will just see a map that’s a hassle. Well if the like staring at a gate for 10 minutes while someone runs a ram I guess ANET has hit the mark with auto upgrades. Fully fortified structures is not going to stop night capping on servers with the population but it will stop the low population servers from even trying. But hey who needs people in WVW during off peak times. /cry

Conclusion

Auto upgrades is one of the things killing the game. All changes to WVW should be first and foremost to encourage more players in WVW not discourage them. Furthermore if a couple friends capping your stuff in the middle of the night needs to be discouraged then why not just close WVW except during prime-time and run off even more players. Your not going to stop the servers like SBI night-shift which has a decent night-shift thanks to a commander that spent months building it up (Djixie). This is about match balance not auto upgrades. Shallow thinking and seat of your pants, knee jerk implementations is not bringing players to WVW its running them off.

^^^This 100%.

The auto upgrades sound good but the reality is that they have hurt WvW.

Auto Upgrades is Killing the game

Auto-upgrades are crap even up here in T1. Let’s see, we have massive no-lifer numbers + keeps being defensible to the point where you may as well not even try + silly, unneeded crap like shield generators (and I’m talking 3-4 at each gate, in every structure) and why even bother? It’s a one-sided experience, for the most part. I don’t even want to know what it’s like in the lower tiers, but it can’t be any better. Letting us delay them with yaks is a step in the right direction. I can kill yaks, because that blob can’t be everywhere all the time :>

Its a step in the right direction but they could easily make it manual again and just leave off the gold cost so it just takes supply. Which is the fix that WvW players want. Like many have already mentioned, if servers wants tier 3 structures on another servers BL they need to work for them.

Something a little off topic, the desert BLs are so empty that I have taken tier 3 towers by myself on my own BL and the enemy BLs. Built a cata and took out a wall and then soloed the champ inside. It takes about 20-30min running and getting supply and then attacking the tower with out any cata mastery. I don’t even try to hide the cata, I place it as close as I can to wall to spam 1 as fast as possible and as close to the camp for shorter running. I am on Yaks Bend in tier 1. I only play when I get home from work at 6-10:00 PST or on weekends. Anyone who says WvW isn’t hurting since HoT doesn’t know what they are talking about.

I achieved 2k drinks through natural gameplay…for free. I plan on getting the effects 50% off: 5,000 earned drinks, 5,000 from the TP. There needs to be some way to make the skin exclusive so that only the truly dedicated obtain it.

As in only the true grinders. As in only the people who have little else to do. The people who do wvw solely for example, again are left to grind for something they may want but have no other way to get. Have you seen the rewards in wvw? They’re pathetic. I thought anet said they were going to fix that three years on, but all they added were harvesting nodes while actually removing karma and gold for events.

I agree the skin should be hard to get. But let’s face it, they just want people to sink money into gems, again, to get something fun. It’s not about completing it- it’s about people having to buy the booze and thus the gems. I don’t normally mind this, but for every SINGLE thing in the game, it’s a bit much.

That’s the problem I have with this. Its every single thing they add. The holiday events should be fun and rewarding like the mad memoirs. I don’t participate in the holiday events because they aren’t fun or rewarding anymore.

For PVE its not bad. In Pvp or WvW burning is way better. Since duration doesn’t matter because the conditions get cleansed plus players have much smaller HP pools. So having higher damage but lower duration wins. In PVE you should be using every condition you can since there is so many traits and things that give bonus damage for attacking something with X condition. By having all the conditions stacked it gives a chance for everyone one in your party to do more damage.

DX12 also requires Windows 10 so any players who would want to see any supposed benefits from it would have to upgrade if they don’t already have it.

Comments like this prove that you are just full of it. Adding DX12 does not in any way mean that players are forced to use it, which would lead to your idea that players are forced to have win 10. Many games have multiple support for dx versions and when they add support for a new version there is not one that I know of that no longer supports the original version. The only reason it would become a win 10 exclusive is because arenanet are morons. Which I don’t think they are.

Ya want to say the devs are not competent enough to add this support or that arenanet/Ncsoft are too cheap to invest in the game fine. But please stop with the FUD. Honestly there is no reason to not do this. As it won’t hurt anything and it won’t force anything. It just adds options. Not sure why anyone is against options. I don’t expect it today but if they allocated just alittle bit of resources it could happen 4th quarter 2016 or some time 2017.

There are many tiers of ideas in the forums: 1.Great ideas that are practical to implement. 2.Great ideas that are impractical to implement. 3.Bad ideas. DirectX12 falls under the second category because it would add great performance while also enhancing graphics and optimization but the cost relative to that wouldn’t be worth it from the company’s perspective. So many ideas from the first category get ignored whereas things like a reward track for Stalwart skins and certain class balance ideas and MMR reworks (such as rating floors) fall under the first.

The people doing class balance probably aren’t the same guys who add DX 12 support. All of you saying there is more important things for them to do please tell me what their infrastructure team has on their plate that is more important than implementing something that can improve performance. What other thing can they do to help with the lag besides upgrading all their server/network equipment or raising the required specs to run the game. The change to particle effects and animations is one thing they did. While it is a step in the right direction if they keep going that route GW2 will no longer be thought of as one the better looking MMOs. Adding DX12 will compliment that change.

Again, everyone against DX12 is just being silly. Many MMOs upgrade DX versions because its an easy way to make the game look prettier. It is a fact that each version of DX has helped old games look like newer ones. How is that a bad thing. It is also a fact that DX 12 reduces CPU strain for rendering. So even though it won’t help directly with the other CPU calculations it will help ease up total CPU usage. Which will indirectly help reduce the strain from those other CPU calculations. Its already been proven DX 12 does that, it just takes developers that are able to do so. I believe arenanet has those types of developers and I have faith that eventually they will add DX 12. I don’t see why they wouldn’t, it is an easy wway to make the flashy dyes and armors look even better.

It’s not about people being against it. It’s that it will not have as much of an impact as some people here are claiming and not worth the resources when there’s many more important issues to resolve.

Making the game look better is always worth it. Sure not everyone will be able to enjoy the new graphics settings but one of the reasons I play PC games is because of image quality. Even FPS games that I know you get an advantage with all the settings turned down, I still try to max out all the settings. As I just love being immersed in the environments. So IMO anything that has a chance to improve the image quality is worth it.

I disagree with you that there is more important issues to resolve for the team that would be handling something like this. A new DX version is something that every AAA MMO should eventually add support for. Its one of the few ways of staying relevant and adding longevity to games that can last decades. I don’t expect it right away though. The devs would need time to learn the new DX version through self study or classes of some sort and then have time to implement it. But I do expect it by the end of 2016.

I’ll still have to disagree with you. You need to remember that everything has costs and that when you have employees working on one thing, you’re foregoing them from working on another.

Like I said I don’t expect it right away. Win 10 and DX 12 have only been out for a few months. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to fit in there by the end of 2016. As long as their infrastructure team is not the same guys making skins for the gem store.

10 year old games like DDO that launched with DX 9 support, have added 10 and 11. Is it just that none of you have faith in Arenanet to add DX12 support?

It’s just not needed.

The game looks fine, runs fine on most rigs. Why would they bother just to cater to a niche request that would eat up staff and dev time at the exclusion of those without big rigs.

Makes no sense if you think about it.

Going off of the steam survey results that niche is about 1/3 the market already and still growing. To run DX12 you don’t need a “big rig”. Any low end card from either nvidias or AMDs current line up will support DX12. And Win 10 is free if you have a Windows PC capable of playing guild wars 2. DX 12 has been shown to help low end systems performance more than it does high end systems. I’m not sure why anyone wouldn’t want it. Except to be stubborn and obtuse.

My old piece of kitten rig runs this game smooth as silk. My GPU doesn’t even know DX12 exists. Shhhhhh.

Seriously though if you want a DX11+ game don’t play one that was released over 3 years ago.

All of you saying no thanks are just being silly. Every game that adds support for the latest DX version still supports its original version. So unless anet is a bunch of morons(which I don’t believe is the case) I’m pretty sure everyone still using win 7 and 8 will still be able to play. Adding DX 12 support will help with CPU lag just like the 64bit client helped with the RAM crashes. Not sure why anyone would be against this as DX 12 support is a great feature

Yes, granted there are some that are very high and you will die regardless. But some, such as Dark Reverie you can survive and with Dark Reverie, if you die and don’t have someone to res you, you have to redo Morgan’s Spiral to get back to it. Dark Reverie has the worst jump of all the JPs in the game. Anyone who has done it has died there at least once. You have to get it just right…that one is a 19/20 pixel jump.

GW2 is too big to worry about the stuff you can’t do…focus on the stuff you can do and enjoy.

When you need MPs the only option is this crap or pull out the credit card to get gold for all the stupid collections.

How’s a credit card going to help with MPs? I don’t like the collections either…so I don’t dwell on them and do do the stuff I enjoy.

Pull out credit card, buy gems with credit card, then buy gold with gems you just bought with credit card, then buy items needed for collections with gold you just bought with gems you just bought with credit card.

some collections give MPs

The model doesnt really matter if you are used to its jumping animation. Fall damage masteries doesnt really help when you are falling down 5k+ distance (sw skritt ship part, not so secret googles, fallen hopes bamboo etc..), not to mention that in case of googles even if you survive missed landing you still fail and have to get back on top to redo the jump.

What really gets me is the difficulty of some jumps. For example if character can jump 20pixels up, then platform is at 19pixels up so you have to make a pull exactly at max height to make it, otherwise ofc you fall into nothigness and have to redo from start. I dont really mind restarting some puzzle when I fail some jump, but I have to see that its possible instead of seeing the animation where my character has only a nose at the level of next platform even tho it was max of its jump height. Thats way too confusing and leaves practically no room for error.

Aaaand I just spend whole 2h in the Fallen Hopes prt ttrying to get on that bamboo top to jump into the haystack. Cant get through part of jumping around vertical pale of bamboo near the top…

I guess I’ll leave that be and go play some-other-popular-moba-game for now…

That is hilarious as I keep turning off GW2 and playing LoL since it is less frustrating LMAO. I can’t believe I just said anything was less frustrating then LoL.

I agree, Its messed up. I actually like or at least I did like doing jumping puzzles but the ones you mentioned are BS. they are buggy and more about luck than skill. After trying to get those achievements for a few days I decided screw it. To hell with masteries if that’s what I have to do. If these JPs weren’t created as gold sinks it wouldn’t bother me so much but after wasting a gold on one gold coin, way pointing while falling over and over again, all I can think is that its a kittening waste of time and gold.

They need to attach MPs to more things and not just gold sinks or paid content like the LS.

I think its funny how people say to sell your mats to make money. What they don’t get is that we need those mats for what we are trying to make. So how do you make money to buy mats if you can’t sell them? Sure for those that already have everything and don’t need anything their hoard of gold keeps growing. So for us that are still trying to craft things and not just save gold for gem store purchases WTF are we supposed to do? All of you making money off those mats are selling to all of us that need them for one thing or another or they wouldn’t be worth anything and they nerfed how to get those either directly through the salvage nerf or indirectly through all the gold nerfs. Which leaves your common person that is still trying to get things left with 2 choices, grind or buy gems with cash.

Plz stop spamming the pro gamer crap in game.

Having a MOTD with this crap is fine even though I’d appreciate a way to opt out since I couldn’t care less about it. But the stupid thing being on the screen that I can not remove is annoying, lame, pushy, invasive, etc. There is not a good reason for not giving us the option to turn it off. I feel like their goal is to slowly push crap until we have a sidebar full of adds that we have no control over.

They had half the content they needed, so they made time gates, artificial difficulty, gold sinc and everything they could to make sure people would not rush through the content. Problem is, many people are just completely discouraged by it (specially when after an entire night in WvW you actually lose gold instead of making some), so I think that strategy won’t work.

IMO the path they are going down makes them no longer a AAA game development company and GW2 is no longer a AAA title. Its just another Asian grinder. It has better graphics than most of the others but that and the combat system are about all they have going for them. They have shown they can not produce AAA content anymore.

The way to fix it is to go back to the old system. So it is based on player activity and a gold sink to speed it up. If they wanted to slow things down they could have made it so you can only research one upgrade per week per research slot. The current system alienates to many people for a so called “casual” game.

Celestial + Expertise & Concentration

I think they should just add the new stats on to celestial. I don’t think it would need any nerfs or anything. With the lower point allocation the boost to con duration and boon duration really wouldn’t be the huge but it would help to make celestial worth the investment. Currently I don’t see any reason to not either go full berserker or vipers with some rabid mixed in for pretty much 100% of pve content. In HoT maps I have been taking off my ascended celestial gear and putting on rare zerker gear instead. /as it makes things so much easier there for me. IMO it should not be easier to do things in rare gear than it is in ascended regardless of the stat combos but especially with any gear with some offensive stats. For optimizing there will still be stat combos that are much better. For example vipers with either rabid to maximize DPS or dire to add some tankiness. For a condition build It would e pretty silly to put on some celestial when you could just do fore mentioned. We all know that using zerker on a power build is the way to go. Adding some boon and con duration just makes celestial not suck as bad but it still won’t be OP or meta or even come anywhere near the meta builds except.

TP is less right now because hoarders are selling thier stockpiles

I am assuming you mean stockpiles of legendaries/precursors because when the mats to craft a precursor dry up those mats will go up even higher making crafting even more expensive. If you are talking about legendaries/precursors, do you really think there are people with stockpiles of those in the bank? I can imagine a few people on the server doing that but not enough to call it stockpiles.

Damask Patches because light asc was cheap?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lobo Dela Noche.5127

Lobo Dela Noche.5127

Want to suck up leather? Introduce new recipes, new mf material sinks, might even reduce drop rate which I’m pretty sure 99% wouldn’t even care at that point. But now, incidentally, light ascended armor has to be the the most expensive due to the combined sink rate of silk and leather. For the price of one damask patch, you can buy an elonian square and a deldrimor ingot with a few golds to spare.

I do not mind crafting ascended at all. I understand ascended is a grind. But when I do, I must make sure my wallet isn’t being undermined compared to the other options. How is this fair at all? Why are we the one paying prices for the failure of the market itself?

Market failure isn’t a case of stuff becoming more expensive — market failure is when it’s no longer possible for the market to efficiently transfer goods from suppliers to consumers.

Rising prices doesn’t mean the market failed, if the demand was suddenly overwhelmed by the supply, as happened when HoT was introduced. The primary reason for the high prices: everyone wants this stuff now and a lot of people are willing to pay a premium for it.

tl;dr don’t want to spend that much? wait out the current demand cycle

I think what people mean by failed is in the way arenanet paints with a hose rather than a pen for these adjustments. They could do one small tweak and then another but instead they do huge multi layered changes that makes things go from one side of the spectrum to the other. I do not understand how making everything extremely expensive while also removing all the ways of attaining gold is “healthy” for the game.

Waiting for the demand to pass is silly as that is just speculating. For TP investors it might work out but for the normal folks those prices aren’t going to come down to a reasonable price. After the inclusion of ascended armor where they also adjusted the recipes for silk, have the prices for silk ever dropped in any significant way? They just did the exact same thing to leather as they did to silk so how can we expect those prices to ever come down? The only people this is good for is the TP investors since higher priced items tend to have larger margins making it easier to make money if you already have lots of money to invest. Everyone else will be stuck grinding 3-5 times longer.
