Ehh, classism wasn’t as bad in GW1 since it was so much easier to gear a character. Full gear and skill unlocks cost you like 30k, which is easily obtainable in less than a week for those even short on time.
Yeah it does suck running into these groups, especially as an engineer, I get this crap a lot and I’ve done dungeons less than 20 times, it didn’t matter that I was the only one surviving while everyone else was made of glass. Didn’t matter that I was ressing others from downed because they probably would have been better off with 1 more glass cannon, even if I am boosting everyone elses dmg through permanent 25stacks of vulnerability while doing decent dmg myself, being the only one capable of stopping a wipe and so on.
So really just avoid Pugs(Pick up greatswords) with CoF and AC, when you can do it with a guild. We already know Warriors outclass other professions in damage and survivability and severely lack other aspects, requiring them to be babied by others to succeed.

Well….I really don’t want to feed the trolls but we all know how hard it is to resist that. Its not for me to decide, its the majority, and the majority has spoken. And there are already cosmetic mounts, Broomstick is one if you count it, but you probably don’t. So since its already in game this can now die according to your own words. Dream further? I really am sorry but, stop dreaming and get with reality, its fun too.
Sometimes activating consumables in tonic form lets you jump afterwards, other than that I have no idea.
@Oglaf. Try the everlasting wintersday tonics if you still have your hands on the parts I believe endless toy soilder allows you to jump

Please do refrain from posting repetitive threads, this has been very well discussed and will not be implemented for a variety of reasons. The player base majority does not want mounts and the staff at Anet has stated mutliple times there will not be mounts. Flame on is indeed a poor choice, but just throwing this out there, that last post for engi is actually even older than that. What the devs said are actually cut-and-paste from older post on either an AMA or previous interview, can’t remember, but the silence on all of the forums is a bit suprising.

Im betting SD is getting it(will get a CD?), so 1g to the first fellow engineer to call me out if Im wrong next patch. Im just not seeing how Tankcat could get nerfed, 100nades maybe gets it KR nerfed, turned into blind grenades XD

^Charrzooka has an insanely maddening rediculous amount of clipping, one player I know ended up throwing in the MF because the clipping is too much for him. Try the Legionarre Bayonet or Vigil Rifle, they are both large and clunky, not to warrior looking. For pistols, the glyphic/tainted pistols are big, look decent and have a neato little scope, otherwise the Whisper’s pistol and mystic pistol are fairly large. Shield, the dredge barricade is pretty massive, look at it under preview ‘Summit Bulwark’ second row in the HotM

I sense sarcasm. But it needs to change, range up to the animation(550u) would be nice, and the attack needs to hit faster, harder, deal more burning, and scale better with power, not to mention we still have the retaliation issue. Currently, wearing full power gear and a few stacks of might lets you out do the rifle with FT, although it only hits at 150avg on a heavy golem, you will still be taking twice(at least, more if your enemy is power specced) as much damage back from retaliation and suffers the miss problem while strafing, but it is fairly easy to counter if you zoom in and follow target.
On a side note, I just learned rifle piece and blunderbuss both have a 5 target limit, any other viable targets simply state ‘Out of Range’
Heck I wouldn’t mind if its power got really buffed and was made an elite….

Find someone that has it, tag along with them for an hour or longer in WvW or whatever and decide if you can handle the amount of clipping before you force it into marriage with your hands. Clipping is the Chaarzookas best friend, in fact the Chaarzooka likes to get dirty with the dirt
so your friends a friend with you enemy unfortunately.
…Skydiving minigame and combat anyone?…. ASURA PARATROOPERS!!! Also if you switch between armor and town clother, you can get some weird results occasionally…
But anyways, Ive done this a few times myself, and is quite enjoyable if you get your body to rubberband off some of the cubes… weeeeeee……
You’d probably be better off selling it, some people really like the skin, a lot of people think its butt-ugly, the bullet looks tiny compare to the gun, comes out of the wrong point due to its size, and the clipping is horrendus with armor and ground(half the gun goes underground imbetween shots, attempts to eat your feet when running, and looks like a see-saw when 4 legged running on charr), but thats just my opinion, if you like how it looks thats fine, but moolah is nice too.

This is a bit late to ask, but by “…this story arc.” do you mean the entire Flame and Frost story arc, or just the prelude?
Supposedly the remnants of the stone dwarves are fighting the minions of Primordious still, but we don’t know how well they are doing or if they are even alive still. He may be facing some other kind of resistance or focusing on something else, we really don’t know what the heck he is doing down there, for all we know he could be tunneling to the Reign of Fire to go….uh…chill…no…take a vacation from building monsters. All we know about him is that hes got a massive tunnel network.
The drop rate of cores and lodestones are pretty kittening low from Embers/elementals in my experience, but they do drop fairly often in CoF chest( 1 lodestone, 5 cores for about 14 runs). You can try to farm the one area in Cursed Shore too though, its just much slower to me, MF gear maybe?
The damage needs upped so you can deal more than you’re taking from retaliation….
I got one last week but before that I think its been about a month since Ive gotten a dye drop, bad luck I guess.

When I run SD, Ill use rifle turret, heal turret, then blow both for the SD and 2 heal burst, if Im running bombs Ill time the big ol bomb to get off 3 somtimes.
The heal is good mixed with kit refinement(absolutely superb pre-fix) but it also means you have to stay inside it for full benifit and can’t use blast finishers on other fields. Not to mention it seems like no one realizes what the field is so everyone stays out of it.
^Yeah, be prepared to do something very nonsensicle, like coordinating elixer x pops together and wade into zergs as a legion of tornadoes and giants.
Applied we’ve lost most of our really ‘big’ guilds beside Os but theres plenty of medium/small guilds that help such as TFG, ZoS, ROFL, Loot, PB, Tots, Lys, SKS, SE(are they still with us?) and some others too

1 pierce with trait or stun a player at 20% health 90s cd (it is a tranquilizer dart after all)
2 hit more reliably via less arc and I’d be fine, its already a near perma cripple
3 actually be a weapon skill and not a condi remover utility or remove your own condi’s instead of allies only
4 stun break or just immobi/chill/cripple break, would be great if it applied condis too, 3 stacks of vuln per pulse maybe?
5…… heal needs to scale better maybe, it’d be nice if we got the end pulse to do initial pulse heal too.
We may see a nerf to grenades bleed and vuln stacking, thats all really, with wep stats going on kits, devs will probably decide that the condi stacking with grenades is OP.
Only a WvW player will break the existing rams outside of the castle they’re taking, and then build 4 new ones on top of it. Why? No one will ever know.

^that only works for pve, getting up front and personal in WvW isn’t that great of an idea when people are spamming knockdown and cripples at a class lacking reliable stunbreakers, not to mention how badly the flamethrower is bugged with conal AoE missmissmiss…
Its really great(to me, I use lots of multi-hit, others probably hate it) but its pretty easy to counter, just start slapping light fields down and get area retaliation going, and poison still reduces the heal from it I believe, just learn to counter it. I throw down a well placed grenade barrage on someone who just laid down a area retal, I take 7k+ dmg from that alone, so why don’t you put a CD on retaliation?

You could lay down the mines behind a door, then before they charge in, get some might stacking going for a death field instead, good damage and massive boon removal(each mine removes a boon, its actually the best boon removal in game).
The life steal is a life saver if you’re defending on top of walls, as an engineer I don’t even have to move out of glass cannon meteor storms, I just happily chuck grenades and get 1-2k life steal every toss, 7k lifesteal with a well placed grenade barrage, no need to even touch my #6. Honestly, its the only thing that makes wall defense bearible to me… try eating a ghost while in a golem suit :)
The devs aren’t clueless and they don’t hate engies, but people will look at bad responses like this and think otherwise.
We know they aren’t clueless, but like you said its still the same issue. We still haven’t gotten a straight answer from devs, we’re left with horrendus patch notes and ‘answers’ that seem more setup than an american reality tv show. It makes us feel bad and they just repeat the same mistake, honestly listening to devs talking about engi is like dealing with missmissmissmiss flamethrower, its just frustrating and there is no apparent reason to why its happening.
The engineer isn’t all that steampunkish, there isn’t even any steampunk armor besides gear shields and goggles that don’t fit properly on charr heads, which ironically created the proffesion lore-wise. The only thing steampunkish about it is the elixers with alchemy being a popular part of steampunk, which feels like another dis on the engineer name. Im still playing because I like playing underdog classes, while outplaying others.
^Frost turret would be awesome, now I want a snowcone. But again, yes, turrets are the most engineer-ish we have, with slick shoes and failure rocket boots of flaming roundhouse kicking

elixer gun isn’t an elixer gun, its a tranq gun that shoots corrosive bouncing glue of speed(lulwhut?), poison clouds of condition removal(theres a pattern!) acid and healing springs. Which belongs to no profession, animal tamer in RL maybe?
Back on topic, if turrets also rode on your back it would be a ‘fix’ to them not using stats and dying because the dmg source is you! Also, like the frost and cloaking turret, it’d be neato to have turrets that say versatility through effects normally belonging to other profs.

Yeah let me clear up that post and put down my suggestion from elsewhere:
1) Turrets would ride on back behaving like they normally do, having all or only one usable this way at a time, where skill bar would place down the turret form, toolbelt remain same
2) I suggested that turrets be changed to backpack mods with unique overheating mechanic that functions simalarly to initiative, where each turret and gadget(maybe elixer) skill has a spammable or nearspammable skill that heats(depletes for elixer) your backpack of destruction, fully overheating your pack locks out overheat skills until cooled down 75% but lets out a fireball or something similar.
If you really want to, anyone with access to a polling site and time can set up a poll for this, maybe even set up a facebook poll that anyone can answer if it allows you to without log in, and simply post a link on each professions forum, or dulfy if he can get one going on his site. But yes, with how prepared Colin was when that question came up, Im really doubting that he’s telling the whole truth. Keeping fingers crossed this future infraction doesn’t get me banned from forums, if this post dissapears and you no longer see me posting, you know why :D
I’d suggest what you did or have them ride in your packpack with the ability to place them down, although no one would ever do that if they still worked as they do but on your back.
^Yeah, just going on this forum page and still seeing no red is a testament to that. We do need reworking for a large amount of our skills to be “fine” by anyones standards. I could go on about whats not fine and so can everyone else here, but no, we still aren’t where we need to be, where ever it is Anet says that is -.-
Its definitely not botting, but this can qualify as exploiting. Its unintended gameplay, you aren’t supposed to do it, it doesn’t matter if its slow xp, it matters that you are manipulating the game for gain without work. It doesn’t matter that theres an AFK timer if there are players doing this, for all you know maybe the dude is watching TV with a timer going off every 8 minutes so he/she can comeback and get his loot, if they come back and they got kicked, guess what, they are just going to log in and do it again.
I don’t think this qualifies as a banning offense but it should get you an infraction at the least.
From where I saw it, they stated its a bug, so it wasn’t on purpose like many think it was, but you can still use the heart of the mist to preview armor fortunately.
Anotha quick butting in, we engineers don’t really have much to worry about, since most of our AoE has been toned down/nerfed already:
Bomb kit’s smoke bomb, flame turret overcharge, pistol #1, grenade #1, mine kit now mine, kit refinement EG, and toss elixer R.
The only cases we can shine in is Static Discharge, but that merely puts us subpar glasscannon. And grenade kit when PvDoor and ZvZ in WvW, where you can chuck grenades into a crowd /wall and deal havok on any clustered players, which still makes us merely on par compared to others.
Bomb kit; decent melee dmg, no worries
Grenade kit; great-nonexistant damage depending on situation, only worry is if they mess with grenade barrage or add cd 1-1/2s to #1 to avoid situations like dominating walls with grenades(if they decide to blow up) and blowing downed units to bits, also needs to be traited into to be worth it.
Flamethrower; Its damage is already clearly balanced for hitting multiple targets, while like the grenade kit, is easily countered via area retaliation.
Pistol #1; Like grenade kit, needs to be traited to deal considerable AoE damage, and like FT, is damage is already based upon hitting multiple targets at all times(in other words it needs traited to not be horrible.) and like both kits, can take serious retaliation damage if hitting multiple targets.
Switching out of kits via abnormal manner such as inventory swapping and skill swapping can cause the backpack to detach itself and float, other things can do this too. I tried covering the ocean surface at LA once doing this, but I could only get 3 packpacks floating :(
Edit: Ironically doing this will glitch the backpack sometimes so it does not show next time you equip a kit, but don’t waste your time if you can’t get it to work.

Just butting in real quick, but I don’t think bombs qualify as AoE to the players or Anet, they are melee, and like most melee attacks it ‘cleaves’ , but in an circular AoE fashion instead of a box AoE in front of the player. Im betting on bombs staying relatively the same or slight adjustments(dmg or on touch boom maybe?).
Two vote kick is okay, sometimes three is better, kicking past a certain point such at final boss or half point could be a debatable change. What needs added is a ‘Trust’ vote at the beginning of a dungeon that prevents vote kicks on the players, the only way to kick a player at that point is a 3/4/5 minute afk timer kick.
You do not earn crowns for the daily or monthly PvP achievement, and the items you can earn for spending crowns are not intended for purely PvP players. We don’t want to make PvP players feel like they need to do PvE achievements to maximize their daily rewards, or PvE players feel like they need to do PvP achievements to maximize their daily rewards.
We’ll be evaluating progression and rewards in PvP with a separate system that takes players from all sides into account without making them feel like they have to play one part of the game they may not be interested in.
So are you adding a new reward system like this for Pvp in Jan? Just a quick suggestion, in this discussion post hehe, but if you guys are not giving crowns to PvP achievements based on pvp players not wanting to do pve, can you simply make pvp and pve daily/monthly achievements both give crowns, but only recieve crowns for the first day/monthly completed that day/month respectively?

We don’t even know if he’s talking about achievements or/and daily/monthly achievements, so we may not get rewarded for past achievements, and the current system can be easily exploited for infinite Achievement Points, so probably only an additional currency for daily/monthly or reworking of the system.

You won’t see another tier between Ascended and Legendary in 2013 for example.
