If you’re unwilling to even get and use a ranged weapon — at least long enough to learn the encounter, then it’s best to skip this LS.
Always be the first to enter the instance. That’s the only protection you have against this.
And, it’s terrible to have to say this, but never join a group that has two people from the same guild.
You can sell it for 1g.
So considering the TP, they’re worth less than most exotics.
I don’t think even the writers know who E is.
This. Which is likely why the Living Story chapters are so bad.
Instead of encouraging on screwing up more Guild Wars lores just to keep Scarlet, why not just kill her off or retcon her out? From here, give a different writer a chance to write a different villain, or just go back to freaken dragons, which you know, was advertise for the game for a year.
Anet being stubborn as they are, plus the fact that living story chapters go into production months before they come out means that we’re likely stuck with Scarlet for a very long time.
Remember when daily dodges where first introduced and people had trouble with them — having to find mobs with extremely slow animations in order to dodge successfully?
They obviously weren’t dodging in their day-to-day gameplay. The open world is just too easy. And it can’t be made harder because players aren’t taught the mechanics of the game properly. The open world should have more tutorial content — perhaps skill challenges in the early zones can be modified to serve this purpose.
For the same reason, people have huge trouble in the first dungeon — even though it’s not bad at all if you know the basic mechanics of the game.
The problem I have with zerker gear, is that everyone keeps preaching it, Yet I do not wear it, and notice the amount of damage the group loses from “me do um big leet damage” being downed. Then we lose more damage as I have to stop and get them up.
Have you considered that they get downed because you’re causing the fights to drag out longer than they should due to your sacrificing damage for defense?
go to your matchup’s fight club and watch — that’ll probably help. Plus, you can get lots of feedback afterwords from the spectators.
random matchups, but with randomness factor toned down to make large rank disparities in matchups less common — that’s what we asked for when random matchups were first introduced. Instead we got Leagues, which made things even worse.
can you salvage ascended gear?
try SEp1 for dungeon. The bosses there don’t move much and have very clear tells for their skills. Plus, there’s only one legendary boss so the fights don’t get to the point of being tedious. It’s more fun to solo/duo this dungeon than to do it in a party (it’s too faceroll).
Most likely rigged to some degree. Considering how little it went up in the first few days and the fact that players will soon/are already be bored of the tower, if it weren’t rigged, it’d probably be there forever.
in a way, it’s good not to have rewards since it always causes reward hunters to do stupid things. Look at all the people repairing trebbed walls these days (and using supps from the tower no less).
Edit: is is bad that someone who trebs a wall down doesn’t get credit for the capture unless he can rush to the lords room in time.

come on, any updates? this is crazy, it says -10% damage, it’s not working as intended.
Change the tool tip from -10% damage to player to +10% damage to player -> Working as intended. Easy fix.
It doesn’t look like they’re even gonna bother to do that.
Having just come back and seeing this league crud, I am wondering why most matches are not just 2 vs 1 by default?
Because ppt-wise, it’s always better to beat up on the weakest of the three servers to take their points.
lol you guys really aren’t using the staff much these days ^^
It’s 3 per target, always has been since the nerf.
This is actually another issue. Why are the skill descriptions so vague that people aren’t clear what the skill is supposed to do?
Having to play a new build just because you got a specific weapon is so backwards. Do you plan on getting corresponding ascended trinkets just to match this new build? And what about ascended armor.. when that comes.
People talk of the game being alt-unfriendly, but it’s getting more and more build-diversity unfriendly as well.
If you have limited play time, a slower (but more sure) way to get dragonite, is just look to see what bosses are up at any given time. Most of the bosses only give 3-7 dragonite (the dragons and golem give the most) but depending how lucky you are at a given time you can hop from one to the next fairly quickly. As others have suggested guesting to a high pop/active server is a good bet to try to get temple events “quickly” but from my experience they normally take longer and have a higher chance to fail (compared to world bosses).
Another option in WvW is if there is a zerg train running to cap towers/keeps. I forget the number they drop off the top of my head though.
Good ideas except for WvW: Only the keep lords (EB), garrison lords, hills and bay lords drop dragonite. I’ve never seen them drop more than 5 at a time.
If you can manage the timing, some servers run temple zergs at the same time every day.
I notice you use “enjoyed” in past tense. Are you still playing the Nightmare Within?
If you’re leveling an alt: do the Queensdale champ train and salvage everything. You’ll get levels, karma, luck, and crafting materials.
If you need iron and soft wood and your alt is really low level: save the bags until they are at iron/wood levels and open them then.
Actually: the champ bags are account bound so you may be able to keep an alt at around level 30 permanently to serve as a bag opener (this should work, I think).
So will there be any changes to staff 4?
Currently it no longer transfers conditions from allies — only yourself.
Also, it only affects a single foe in the mark.
How is it even a mark? All other marks affect an AOE region when triggered.
If nothing else, it was a good condition cleanse for your minions.
Blind is great against non-champ foes — particularly silver foes. You watch for their big attack animation and blind them when it begins.
It’s also great for stomping in WvW — when done right, it will prevent the interrupt most professions have when downed.
Against champs: completely worthless. Blind is only 10% effective against champs, but the worst part is that you have no idea when that 10% will proc.
This should really be looked into — perhaps a mechanic similar to “defiant” should be implemented for champs and the blind condition.
Should it be a progressive tax? What about deductions and exemptions? I surely should be able to deduct my business expenses: cost of acquiring weaponry and armor as well as travel (WP) expenses related to guild events. This is gonna get complicated.
GW1 had basically no leveling Factions and later (you got to max level in the starter/tutorial area). Anet explicitly went away from this for GW2. There is pretty much zero chance that they would revert to the GW1 system (which, imo was much better).
In fact, Anet has all but promised we will have increased level cap in the future. After Ascended Armor is out for a bit, you can be sure they level cap will be raised so that people can keep their illusion of progression.
I think a mix of the two system types (adjacent matchups and random +8/-8 ranks) would be better to have than going back to what we had immediately before Season 1.
Perhaps every month have 3 weeks of adjacent matchups, followed by a random +8/-8 matchup… rinse and repeat the next month. This would hopefully keep competitive matchups really common and have a little of variety every so often.
Anet, what say you?
Why not just have same RNG system as before but with the volatility tweaked to make large rank disparities in a matchup much less likely.
In any case, the less notice they give for the start date of the next league (hopefully there won’t be one) the better — tanking is bad for everyone.
his damage then made me laugh :P
“Your weakness makes me laugh!”
Anet tried to take DB tower for NSP. I didnt see any siege but they gate is at 80%. I took the screen shot after i chased them off
Scouts, squires, and footmen — doesn’t look like Anet WvWs very much.
The problem is not population size — it’s rather population disparity between servers. It’s fine to have some servers be big and others small — as long as they’re never matched up.
If each server has a few other neighboring servers of comparable size, there’d be a good variety of matchups. Currently, there are too many instances of servers that are next to each other in ranking but have enormous differences in coverage.
Population doesn’t have to be equal amongst all servers. However, each server should have (at least) 4 other servers that have comparable population/coverage. This is a much easier objective than balancing out all servers’ populations and is good enough that each server has a variety of good matchups.
Oceanics can all stack to a few servers so that they have others to play with — that’s fine. The problem is that the population/coverage gap between servers even adjacent in ranking is often too big.
I think removal of the personal story is actually a great idea — it’s pretty bad anyway and that would release several zones and regions from their frozen-in-time state.
The real problem is that the Living Story is pretty terrible in terms of story — that’s a problem that needs to be resolved first.
I just don’t get why Anet is playing it so close to the vest with Scarlet’s background. They desperately need to start leaking SOMETHING interesting about the character.
It sounds like you’re assuming Scarlet is a fleshed out character whose traits/motivations haven’t yet been revealed. I seriously doubt this is true. There is nothing being played close to the vest and nothing to leak because Scarlet’s traits/motivations don’t exist past what we’ve seen. Anet’s just making it up as they go.
It’s the quality of the Living Stories that’s the problem, not the fact that there’s no expansion. What makes you think an expansion won’t have the same low quality story that the Living Story does?
Anet probably loves the 2 week cycle because they don’t have to bother fixing bugs since the content goes away pretty soon anyway. We’ve seen this a lot in the LS updates.
If a precursor sold for substantially more than the amount of gold it takes (on average) to create via the mystic forge then people would take opportunity of the market and forge them for profit.
I think you can pretty much assume that the TP price is roughly also the price for forging (perhaps even less because some are dropped as loot).
Just don’t look at the websites for 10 days and don’t look at the achievement lists for 10 days and you’ve got exactly what you want.
You don’t need to do the “serious” story all in one block. Many TV shows now have a main storyline that shows up in most episodes, but from time to time will have some standalone episodes. That way you’re not pausing the main story for too long.
Anyway, Anet’s storytelling abilities are extremely suspect. It’s probably for the best that we’re not doing a dragon storyline right now because it’d surely be botched.
If they repair the broken wall back up, you can break it again to get even more credit.
So you have one side trebbing for the demolition achieve while the other furiously repairs for the repair achieve!
guys, guys, guys.
World Of Warcraft has as of this year, over 7 MILLION subscribers still active (according to mmodata.blogspot.com. And that game has been in existence for nine full years.
Unlike Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft has not got nearly as advanced graphics, voice acting, or any of the other advanced features that this game has. Additionally World of Warcraft has been coming out with story content almost continuously since its release in an effort to keep its subscribers happy.
Guild Wars 2 does not have subscribers in the way that World of Warcraft does. As such they are not as dependent on making their viewers happy the same way as Blizzard is. That said, unlike World of Warcraft who is probably slowly running out of ideas for new content, Guild Wars has a CRAP TON of stuff already available to it that we haven’t even seen yet.
1. We have as of now only defeated ONE out of SIX Elder Dragons. Two of them we aren’t even sure actually exist as more than just hear say. That is Five Full Scale Updates right there. Each with a possibility of a level cap increase and or new weapons and skills.
2. Elona is cut off from Tyria thanks to Palawa Joko. We will probably need to go in and deal with that issue as well. Probably even to the point of dealing with the Margonites a second time.
3. Cantha is cut off from Tyria, and possibly under the sway of yet another evil Emperor. Heck Shiro might have returned again somehow for all we know. Being dead already he has some advantages on the immortality deal.
4. There are at least SIX missing Gods to figure out at least for the Humans. The Norn have their Spirits to figure out. And the Asura have the whole Eternal Alchemy thing to figure out. Then the Sylvari still seem to have unresolved issues with the Nightmare Court. Not to mention the Charr’s issues with the Flame Legion. Those unresolved issues could be yet another content update.Truth be told we have a whole lot we can still do in this game that has yet to be released.
What you said all sounds good theoretically. But in reality, we get Scarlet, Scarlet, and more Scarlet.
There’s some suspicion that minions and maybe even siege count as (perhaps fractions of) a player.
here is how the forum interest for the living story is going
That’s probably a really good rough measure of interest.
I’ve noticed that threads are staying longer and longer on the front page in the living world sections
Now we have WvW and PvP and Dungeon focus,
Absolutely false (with regards to WvW focus). Unless focus is slapping together a terrible (and terribly broken) progression system and writing down a few matchups and calling that a League.
It’s been 2 months, any current plan about this?
Seriously? If you read the dev reply carefully, he’s basically saying, in a roundabout way, that they have no plans to do anything.
Currently every server has at most 4 other servers that it can fight competitively with (I’m talking NA). As long as this is true Leagues are pointless.
This is not even close to being an exploit.
2 blues, 2 greens, and an unsalvageable, unforgeable exotic with stats you don’t need.
The way I see it, these items are not being sold at less than their value — their value is acutally 2g. The crafting materials are worth 7g. And the levels you gain from taking these materials and crafting the actual item is worth 5g.
People are not actually crafting weapons, they’re crafting levels. The weapons are just the waste byproducts. (Until you get to level 500, of course.)
As for having “enough” dark matter — don’t forget that Ascended armor is coming and I wouldn’t be surprised if you needed a whole lot of dark matter to craft one set.
Southsun is a terrible zone. It shows that Anet doesn’t know how to make difficult content. They only know how to make bigger numbers: more mobs, bigger damage numbers, longer condition durations.
I thought Queen’s gauntlet’s silver bosses (including the ones in the open world) were a step in the right direction as they had mechanics rather than just bigger numbers, but alas it seems Anet’s not really creating that kind of content anymore.
Try SEp1 for soloing/duoing. It’s a good starter dungeon because all of the bosses are satisfied to be at range and thus don’t move. Plus, it has only one legendary boss, which makes it less tedious. It’s actually a really fun dungeon when played solo/duo; with 5 people, it’s a bit too faceroll.
If you insist on playing minion master + P/P thief, the dungeon may take some time to finish — but try it anyway. The second boss (Nokk) and the three golems before Tazza are going to be really kitten your minions — the golems will pretty much instantly kill all your minions.
always be the first one in the dungeon instance — it’s your only protection because it doesn’t look like Anet is ever going to do anything about this issue.
