Ele in WWW roaming:
Has decent 1VS1 capabilities, hindered by the lack of reliable gap closer to prevent mobile professions to flee.

That pushes your build into burst because once your opponent realize he can t win, you have few seconds to finish him off and if he manage to get some distance you can t do nothing.
(casting GS to follow is a suicide and won t work anyway).

The other weak point of ele is XvsX you can t really do nothing if your opponents are smart and focus you first.
Skill doesn t apply you will just die….

TL/DR: DD ele is nice as long as you duel, and your opponent won t run away.

I strongly doubt anet purpose was to reduce zerker meta.

What they are doing is hurting balanced builds, in this way they will split the meta into zerker, condition and tank.

No midground…thus reducing heavlily the build diversity.
They surely have another reason for the ferocity change.

Its really nice to often try to derail posts…yet i explicitly said that the demand was infact really high due to an economy-breaking patch that led to this wonderful situation with SIlk more expensive than gossamer (as people predicted easily when they read patchnotes about ascended crafting…)

Aside that the issue was extremely aggravated and shown a clear sign of insider trading.

Expecially since even john Smith admitted there were suspects of insider tradings.

And once again another proposal.
Can we have similar balancing to the rest of the game?
Why not Diminishing returns on TP?
The more you buy/sell the more taxes you pay….every part of the game has it

Ummm, how do you personally measure inflation, if you dont have any compelling data on how the general gold rewards per day/player inflated in the same timespan?

The cost of any demanded good.
Sigils, runes, silk, precursors, T6, gems and so on….

And as we already discussed you can see most of them raising even when gold production decrease (see after queen jubilee..) and in any case the change in price NEVER reflects actual gold production (stimated because nobody has numbers).

P.S. season 2 WWW means also a gold decrease and lot of more gold sinks….prices are skyrocketing instead.

As harsh it could say, you are saying WWW is balanced…and that is alone disproving your Whole theory……

L2P is the best way to avoid any possible technical discussion……
You can see tons of threads about the most OP stuff GW2 ever had full of “L2P”, “its the player” etc.

And unfortunately doesn t add anything useful ….
Personal skill is OT in a discussion about balance

p.S. and there is a thing that put ele at disadvantage in a glass build.
Its the only glass build totally depending on opening the fight….because differently from mesmers, warriors and thieves if you are hit first you don t have anything to recover the momentum and get on the offensive.

Simple question.
Do you know ANY non supercasual TP player that has not get an income per hour a digit higher than most non TP players?

Its not that even my guild started this stuff because its really easy…

The only reason why we nowaday see some minor risk is because anet is pushing every player to play with the TP.

It may happen that the risk will balance in this way…at that point the game will be so horrible most people will have left already due to the insane inflation (see inflation on ANY useful item paired with deflation of everything else….proof of a broken economy).

More taxes = more risk.
Speculation currently lacks risk that is why everyone is speculating…..

What about removing the 5+10% tax on selling and going for a straight 15% on listing?

TP needs LOT more risk.

Not sure you understand what the term “speculation” means.

People only remember what happens when a speculator is right. No one remembers when a speculator losses hundreds of Gold.

Forgive me if from day one threads here explains how its incredibly hard to lose money on the TP.
So i won t answer that again….i expect anyone playing the TP to know basics as differentiating and stuff…..

But i think seeing the appearance in mass of TP players to defend their broken business means it could actually be the right idea to heal a bit this absurd economy….

After reading the tips, I know better not to run for my life and stay closer to her. Still doesn’t help I’m an ele.

You should ve said this before..

Equip a focus…(remember also that earth 4 cleans conditions).

Mistform
arcane shield
Signet of speed or conjured shield (skill 5 another invul).

Stay far from other players during cannon phase.

If they die start ressing and as the animation started pop up any of your invulnerabilities (mistform etc) since they won t break the ress or use air 4 before ressing..

When you are on CD pop up an elemental and kite a little…repeat.

You can actually ress all pugs…..

P.S. if you can t see the boss tells just be sure to not be the farthest…she Always go for the farthest.

I could annoy you explaining point per point..

But as people should ve realized is

We either go full DPS via trait and we have 0 survivability, condition cleanse etc.
Or
We go full bunker and we are just worse than any other bunker build from other professions.

And we can go balanced to understand how badly designed ele is because withotu stacking every single DPS trait our dps is possibly the lowest in game paired with absurd coodowns.

So on the paper we have stuff, when you start building to play you discover why ele is considered bad.

if you solo you have a different tactic…
In 5 you can spread to get less cannons aoe, stand still, wait for aoe and slightly move in the free spots.

on solo you should run around the stage because:
- you get 5X (maybe less but sillmore than party) aoes on you
- you don t get people behind you killed by your aoes

In solo you can manage better the boss and can kite her in the aoes.

Its completely a different tactic.

I heard at fractured release people dropped +10 infusion and +2 or more.

Now you only drop +1 …..because fractals are too rewarding.

There is nothing in my post about non-burning target ….

That means you already been hit….and you didn t cleanse and you have been hit again….
That means you have comminted mistakes.

I think if thief hadn t stealth at all, and your only DPS attack could be used every 45 seconds on player already hit by specific conditions people would call it underpowered.

well, if that was supposed to be a gentle way to hint that ele can’t burn thief cos he is stealthed. Not my fault most players are like NPCs and just stand there when thief goes invi. I can C&D off a stealthed thief, I am sure others can use their skills too.

No it hints at the most used counterarguments about stealth used in VG development industry.

Unreactable+high damage = not related to skill and its isn t even rocket science.

What? Are you considering stealth attack to be some sort of omnipotent action that renders you inacapable of pressing buttons on your keyboard? If others can, why can’t you.

No i am simply remembering a base concept in balancing…
Reactable = high damage Used when you get your opponent off guard after a mistake
predictable = low damage used to push player committing mistakes

Stealth = no chance at all to do anything but “guess” that means your success depends on how bad the thief is and not how good you are.

May be good from a PvE standpoint, in PvP is the worst because almost bypass one player skill…

The worst is when it works even defensively.

Why not? Every class has some skills that can be used defensively. For those 11+ months I’ve been playing gw2, I haven’t been 1 shot by anything else than warriors’ burst skills. Yes there is a thief build that allows for huge crits, must be very popular on the servers you face, I haven’t come across it so far.

Because your thief without CDs will keep attacking making impossible to recover…
Also because other profession have cooldowns.

Pvp is definitely more fun with less stealth, though I doubt it would help with your dislike towards thief class.

PvP just made stealth unable to contest…..thus limiting its usefulness…while in WWW you contesting is less important and that is how you get the only downside removed.

Also we learned that CDI works only on minor stuff..they never accept counterarguments about big changes and when they break the game they start thinking about it about 1 year after.

Feedback:
1) anet Always said they didn t want to have heavies trasmute light skins and similar die to visual clues.
Seems their principle are Always so easy to change when they want….

2) I, like many Others, got town clothes to use as town clothes (costume brawl and such)…
I don t want to trasmute them on another armor nor i want to waste inventory space on them…
Not to mention the awful design of helms that remove hairs, will force me to switch hair options every time and even worse stuff like halloween horns etc will become unusable….

There is really no reason to change town clothes at all i don t want chefs in WWW with no visual clues on wich class they could be.

Well megaserver will obviously decrease server costs for anet being able to relocate resources according to population and waste less…

Yet they should ve found a better solution because the proposed changes doesn t really have anything good for players.

Example, for guild bosses, guilds should be able to open a private istance and invite whoever they want (like the old overflow).

That would ve given more focus at “friendly play” and guilds (also raids).

This boss sucks period! We spent 4 hours in a lv 19 fractal just trying to beat her. We rather have dredge (which we can do rather fast) then this kitten. You get stuck once or in a bad spot, you are done! Total wipe everyone!

did you try equipping something non zerker?
In this case even at 50 damage is low enough to be able to be hit many times before dying (4-5).

But most of all remember that if you split the party in 5 (each player stays in 1/5 of the stage) you get 1/5 Attacks durring cannons.

For may trinn phase just use condition cleanse..

Use an elementalist scepter focus:

Except the fact you can t easily remove the shield (use earth 1-2 for that) you could almost solo the boss due to personal protection…

You can even ress dead players alone if all the party wipes.
Caution: elementals shoots aoes that can be absorbed/reflected but if they hit the floor they will hit anyway. (that means magnetic wave is not so reliable).

Another thing people should really know:
Fotm has decreased defiant on every boss…
5 stacks are not so hard to remove, plan your CC accordingly….and use the longest stun.

For ele:
Focus air5
Icebow 5

Are the best, while focus water 5 should be used to remove defiant.

Some ele specs can burst my thief in under 1s. Staff is not one of them, I don’t even think staff can kill anyone with half a brain in 1 vs 1. When I play ele, 10-14k fire grab, gg for the thief.

fire grab needs you to be burning…

If an ele can kill you in 1 second means you can do the same…what’s the difference?
Stealth gives you the first attack chance…

There is nothing in my post about non-burning target …. well, if that was supposed to be a gentle way to hint that ele can’t burn thief cos he is stealthed. Not my fault most players are like NPCs and just stand there when thief goes invi. I can C&D off a stealthed thief, I am sure others can use their skills too.

And you don’t react after the first attack? lol then you deserve to die xD

Fire grab:
“Damage foes in a cone in front of you. Deal more damage to burning foes. "

Damage Damage: 588 (1.75)
Damage Damage vs. Burning: 941 (2.8)

On the raction part
You can t react to a stealth attack beacuse of the same definition of the word reaction:

Reaction:
1.An action or statement in response to a stimulus or other event

Once you have been hit once you are either dead or so low on HP you need to play on the defensive… something that a glass cannon ele can t do.

That is why other games balance stealth putting lot of downsides on it (or some competitive games totally refuse to include stealth in their games for that reason)..
The creative GW2 team instaed put advantages on stealth…. nuff said.

P.S. i don t even play GC ele i play a balanced one…but i know how to kill GC ele…since they can t escape.

I think there’s no argument that mesmers are overpowered right now.

Infact its not overpowered at all….
Stealth is overpowered if paired with prismatic understanding.

Mesmer is fine….

A light profession with stuff like blurred frenzy, shatter, sword 4 block is perfect…it gives mesmer the tools to survive without being OP.

Reactive game that is infact skill based.

Ele is severely underpowered and needs lot of button pressing (not mashing we know what we are doing) but aside that lacks the tools to actually counterplay anything.

They wanted ele to be jack of all trades master of none…thus doubled CD halved effects and called it a day…
That is how you design underpowered professions….

P.S. ele Excels in WWW?….without the meteor shower/tornado trick ele is only a buffbot with a couple of cc….
0 roaming capabilities.

Before that ele was infact disappearing from WWW since anet changed guardians swiftness symbol..

And necro is still better at the same role.

Excuse me but in prime time during week we have Always less than 40 on borders and less than 90 on EB.

At 18:00-19:00 GMT+1 you can even enter a queueless border and get in EB quite fast with 10-20 queues maximum in 1-2 borders

On other servers you see 200+

And i see lot of guild raids of 10-20

In season 1 i refused to play due to the unbearable queues.
On the Weekend its a different story ofcourse.

P.S. if there is a thing i Always hated is that nobody on sfr helps with ruins, nor in season as in normal matchups………

I don’t think your understanding the argument here LordByron. Nobody is saying that mesmer can’t have high dps. Unfortunately to achieve that high dps, a mesmer has to give up the only useful thing a mesmer can contribute. .

I wanted you to get here exactly.

Mesmer can just use mantras to give stability and a decent condition cleanse.
Mesmer can just change utilities and weapon according to situations having a HUGE support versatility.
Mesmer can range from a full dps to balanced with lot of mid ground.
(and i would argue that is exactly the opposite you are saying…)

Ele relies on traits only…
That means if you decide to go full dps you depends on the party and your playstile will be:
52222522222522222 or 111111111111111111
Its more stupid than old 100B warrior while being uneffective against anything with a decet attack ratio.

I tried to play dps ele many times…its more straight than old 100blade warrior…is something unbearable….and i guess unintended…but only the result of the silly PvP “balancing”.
And if you start looking for something less boring your dps plummet.

That also explains why ele has just few onetrickpony builds in every gamemode. (the least build diversity in game i’d say)

P.S. list of support utilities that are frequently used by mesmers in istances……..i wouldn t say you need a focus to support…

Ok i Always drop some uninfused rings…

But after the last “fix” i see ONLY uninfused rings …

Its like their changes in drop rates works exactly in the opposite way they should.

People drop less and less in higher the most they increase droprates…while i hear frequent low level drops recently.

you don t seem to know mesmer so well as you may think…
You might want to look phantasm dps table for iduelist and mesmer traits also

For Aoes….most aoes in fotm and also remember iswordman have an evade after the attack.
Not to mention those 350.000 damage from reflects since we want to talk about situational skills then i could count the highest damage in game

As i said unbalanced traits made the ele on the full offence the best DPS if babysit by the party…
lowest build diversity in game, the time you start tweaking anything dps plummets…
And this is common knowledge….

We need nerf to traits and huge buff to skills to make ele a REAL top dps or simply viable in more than speedruns with your guildies.

1) FGS is a glitch…removing target doing more damage if you had the target…more obvious than that is impossible.

Some ele specs can burst my thief in under 1s. Staff is not one of them, I don’t even think staff can kill anyone with half a brain in 1 vs 1. When I play ele, 10-14k fire grab, gg for the thief.

fire grab needs you to be burning…

If an ele can kill you in 1 second means you can do the same…what’s the difference?
Stealth gives you the first attack chance…

FGS is a glitch…..
One of them has even been fixed in april’s patch thus showing how is a glitch.
Phantasms also are immune to many aoes.

And takes 3 seconds to get 2 swordmen + 1 duelist or 8 to have 3 swordmen.

Ele is not top dps without fgs… as said mesmer tops it.

There is a reason why only organized groups likes eles…because with a slightly less reliable Group (see slightly suboptimal dps or bad guardian) ele becomes suddenly useless (and no…..its not L2p evasions, cond cleanse etc are a finite number).

Proto its arguable that ele has highest dps.

1st )it only happens by a glitch otherwise mesmer tops it.
2nd) only going 100% offensive with equip + traits you achieve said damage, the time you ignore even one your dps falls from below average to worst in game….

And since said damage requires to be babysit in PvE and totally unviable in PvP and WWW i would argue that theorycraft can t be applied…

In the end the best DPS professions ends up being heavies and thieves since their damage is reliable and scales with the build rather than being all or nothing.

P.S. also FGS being nerfed on 15Th april (and i bet even following patch).

Viz is hurt by achievment hunters it seems……
Their blobs are losing to smaller groups…

On SFR the short queues still makes guild raids possible.
At that point its easy to see why viz blob are way less effective.

Also they ends often up in 1vs1vs1 situations….that is not doubleteaming since all 3 zergs are fighting against anything red.

Build tweaking…

They simply introduced a new combo traits that will push old staff zerker ele to get 30 air.

No new builds.

As said you will choose lightning rod and at that point you will use staff iterrupts for zergs.

That is not a “build” that is more a template….

There is no need to reduce spike damage.
And seeing how they are affecting balanced builds (celestial, valkyrie, cavalier etc) more than glass builds seems they are making a “lore” change or preparing the system for a new tier.

From a balance point of view this change will hurt every part of the game with absolutely no benefit.

How comes i do so many fractal 49-50 and all i get are uninfused rings?

They shouldn t even be in the loot table….
Did they break something?

Low levels drop way better…..and this is a deja vue situation…(do you remember when fotm 10 gave better loots than 48)…

Nullify the knock down lightning ball attack by using distortion at the center of its aoe.

Excuse me, but doesn’t Distortion count as an evade, effectively avoiding the knockback/damage regardless of positioning?
We’re talking about the shatter skill, right?

EDIT: Oh, did you mean you had to be at the center to reflect it back if traited?

In the past distortion worked as block to many projectiles…
You could put your mesmer in face of champion rabdovich to stop all his shots…was fun until anet nerfed BF.

April 15 won t change anything…
This because anet balance via traits and not via skills forcing players into choose trait combination that leads to really few viable solutions.

If you give a look at old and new traits you will see they synergize with Others.
You end up choosing a single definig trait and the Others comes along..

Now considering not all traits are balanced you end up with 1-2 builds on most professions.

P.S. Aidan its not so:
1st an ele casting a meteor shower AND turning into tornado (means wasting half meteors and having 1 spell per 3 minutes)
2nd it becomes a 4-5 seconds cast and against decent commanders is useless….better cast necro “Death wall” of aoes that is way more reliable, faster and lasts forever..
3rd there is a reason if 90% player are guardian+warrior (with the same build)
4rth its still random….you often end up hitting 2-3 people.

Actually despite what people says, meteor shower is far less effective than necro’s aoes that lasts forever and have faster cast…

Its really hard with good commanders to land a meteor shower in the proper spot since zerg are dynamic and they never run straigt.

Its awesome for tagging and it deals lot of damage but its hard to land and soon really easy to avoid (see red circle incoming).

True. Necro are better for constant DPS. Especially since Ele also have other responsability (static field for switfness, static field for stun, water field, etc) But Meteor Shower is a great burst DPS. Its hard to use correctly, but when you get it right, its devastating. The best is on choke point like at a gate, when the ele can start to cast it just before the zerg come in so they don’t really have any time to react. Even when it don’t hit that much, Meteor shower is great to force a ennemy zerg to spread. When the ennemy commander call that a meteor shower is on them, usually a couple of his follower spread not in the same direction as the commander, these player are easier to target after. Like i said earlier, its also great to cast on yourself while using your our zerg as bait to lure the ennemy directly in the AoE. Especially good against enemy zerg with a bigger melee train.

choke points where you put 234897 necro aoe that will last till next matchup…

Necro aoe’s duration is really excessive.

Ele is CC for the Group (you don t do much damage so you ddon t even tag….) paired with 1 DPS aoe every 3 minutes….. (that is the only thing to deal dps)

Its frustrating.

Not to mention how its the most lag affected profession due to attunements.

Megaserver = perma overflow

But i guess it will turn bad on guild missions and has no benefit for players, just saving computing space for servers.

Because no class should be immortal,
and also because by game design thief is not “the dueler”

You might have forgotten the game description about the lack of PROFESSION roles in favor of profession builds.

That means you are supposed to kill a zerg build, but thief is not supposed to be at advantage agaisnt any other profession with roaming builds….

And if you don t know the importance of roaming you should ask in www section where they will gladly explain you.

Mesmer tips

Uncategorized:
While only ettin is alive Put 3 iduelists in the console thingy at center of left or right wall and keep ettin in range.

It won t be able to kill them and the dps is really high (you get something like 30.000 every 8 seconds)

Svanir boss:
place 3 iduelist under the wall where it goes during phase change.

Kill ice walls asap when he summons them and once again the phantasms will stay alive for Whole fight for insane dps.

General phantasm tip: they are immune to most agony aoes.

If you want to be cheap you can pull Ascalonian out of the circle without killing them at all.

how without longbow?
Since the AI of npc is clearly broken, and being ruined more by fractured (that patch did more harm than good) any help would be good.
