A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

ether renewal is slow….
20 in water is almost mandatory :/ that because cantrip reduction, and cond cleanse are still a thing..
Expecially since you desperately need lightning flash for mobility with a 40 second RTL or any profession will outrun you.

30/10/0/0/30 but i know i will change for sure :/ maybe 30/20/0/20/0 but the loss of all arcana trait is heavy…
Until they cancel RTL nerf i can t see anything helping me to leave 30 arcana and 20 water

Harpy Fractal midboss is a DPS check? I thought it was a put the things in the thing check. I haven’t played 30+ so I’m pretty scrub tier but I didn’t think it changed after that.
You have 4 crystals per side …. if you run out of crystals you simply lose.
People don t know it because today there are so many DPS builds that you Always end up with 2-3 DPS in your party.
In the beginning pugs used to fail the check and thus have one player to die in order to get 2X crystals.
That was due also to the fact we had a noticeable power creep in dps for many professions.
Same can be said for veterans in the lava fractal…
Its a dps check…if you can t kill them fast enough it becomes a CC test (that is extremely difficult for most parties)…
When tank guardians were popular it was frequent to fail that part.
There are even more…that are either “easy” if you follow the DPS check or way harder if you lack it….
Still the issue is not zerker…is grinding pushing to play for rewards (people nowaday call it “efficience” because “farming” doesn’t sound as good) rather than for fun…
Frankly i believe the fire trait is extremely fun…
Unfortunately ferocity and rune change will hurt DD ele extra hard…..
The loss of a huge % of dps paired with the long cooldowns means burst becomes weaker…
Buff duration will suffer from rune nerf, while 2H weapons will get a second sigils making the gap smaller.
The issue with the fire trait also is that force elementalist to leave the water line.
That means giving up condition cleanse and forcing ele to slot cleansing fire.
But since cantrip nerf you are already short on utilities:
-armor of earth
-mistform
-arcane shield
-lightning flash (for mobility
).
Are equally needed…..
You also lose cantrip mastery….
There is no way to change ele build diversity without addressing SKILLS rather than traits.
Maybe in pvp ….but not in WWW
That trait and PvE are not good.
Just remove stats on equip….
Ascended should have swappable stats considering how grindy it is.
ascended berserker doesn t get functionality change…
Its still the DPS set
Celestial changes from a balanced set to a tanky set..
Its not a nerf its a CHANGE…. like if zerker became soldier.

We need some form of survivability that can be applied to balanced and zerk.
And “when hit” i something shouldn t even appear in elementalist traits…..
(you get protection when you have so low HP that you won t really care about protection)

You lack con cleanse, 2 heals…and you are investing on the most damaged trait by the patch (ferocity => crit damage)
i’d rather go:
30/0/0/10/30 or 30/0/10/0/30 or 30/0/0/20/20
You get the master trait in fire to clear cond, the new GM for blind…cleansing fire that cleanse and apply blindness…..

Nobody will get this as grandmaster trait in the worst trait tree for elementalist.
Sword+Warhorn/GS warriors are exceptional at running and killing upleveled baddies/first time WVW’ers.

What about taking a far target and putting it into combat because you havethe best mobility in game, so your party mates can catch you fast, costantly having the freedom to choose numeric advantage fights?
Most warriors do that…because they seems to like 4VS1 a lot.
This ended up being the mirror discussion about thieves….
And i still don t get why elementalist that has nothing, is denied any form of mobility while profession having everything have the best in game.

Elementalist is the example of all that is wrong with anet balancing.
Skills have been nerfed costantly.
Traits have been buffed.
That is why you get some dps only if you totally trait offensively (also need multihit to get the most from traits and slow heavy hitting skills becomes useless), but when you just miss one or two of those traits your DPS falls back between the worst in the game.
Aside that, such system hurts build diversity….
And the sad part is the feature patch will destroy even more balanced builds…..
(rune, sigil and ferocity changes will hit ele the most across the board).
Seems they didn t learn anthing from the past.

He may be right but only if he doesn t play ele since launch….
Staff used to be viable few month post launch and in beta…..
Was nerfed hard…
The best nerf was the ressing sigil that was nerfed for any profession but….. Warriors
Makes me smile the new GM trait is pushing staff ele to the same job it did prenerfs.
There aren’t any gear checks in PvE. No boss that you must burst down in 5mins or less before he 1 shots you etc. The only timed encounters are open world bosses which can’t be crit I believe.
actually PVE is full of DPS checks.
From harpy fractal midboss to ascaloninan p2 boss, to ooze in reactor etc etc etc….
Cog as if i doesn t daily put stuns + condition on warriors just to see them lol clean and fly away….

This is a game.
Yet the “heavy armour” translates in passive survivability and vitality.
And profession who would need a compensation instead lacks totally the mobility.
The key would be the tradeoff spoken by izzy.
Elementalist has mobility as tradeoff for “versatility”…(plus: health, armor, cooldowns, range, reduced effectivity etc etc)

Its totally false.
You forgot this is one of the few games with stats tied to equipment…and was designed with easy to change equipment in mind…(until some guy had the brilliant idea of ascended equip….obviously ignoring how the game works).
The change in celestial functionality is unique only to celestial and wupwup…..
Other players will still have the same functionality..
Its like taking a dps mage and changing it into a healer after 2 years of game….people would be mad….

I can say this:
Changing functionality of a GRINDY equipment already obtained by players is total disrespect towards players and totally unprofessional.
At least if there is not balancing reasons that clearly are not celestial case being Underpowered.

Given the fact RTLing from 400+ range meanse being 100% evaded, it means RTL is just 40 sec cd.
Once you burnt that you have literally 0 skills to stay in range.
Earth 3/3 is totally unreliable and useless against people with cond cleanse, stealth, teleport or just evasions…
DD ele basically is the profession who let almost any profession disengage and reengage at will even the slowest.
Until today you can just fight it with burst….but in the future with dps reduced there will be no role for DD in any situation from WWW to PvE…i won t comment on pvp.
P.S. fixing block and Aegis is not enough…
They should at least change the skill as they planned when they annunced the nerf.
I.E. no double cd on evasion, blind, invul and block…..but mostly evasion since the skill is far too easy to evade.
Or just reverting the CD nerf….would be the best option and wouldn t even give DD ele a similar escape chance like war and thief….(despite ele lacks the other mechanics that makes those 2 profession immortal).

If you look at traits he refers clearly to STAFF ele becoming a HEALER.
Since even this is OT i won t discuss on the reason given by ANET itself for removing healers from the game…that proves a certain hate from anet towards ele profession.
And again its not about D/D
They should just remove the AoE cap seriously.. if you’re stupid enough to keep standing in a circle you deserve to die.

Carighan its not about the mobility.
Its about a melee profession lacking any way to stay melee.
You can give 100.000 HP to DD ele but if you let any other profession escape at will and nerf ELE burst damage you will be useless even more than warrior was at release.
Whatever devs do they should give a way for ele to stay in the proper range without being kited…CC isn t working since they changed how breakstun deals with launch…
Where did you drop sentinel equipment?
Sentinel is craftable and thus shouldn tdrop insignias at all..

8 months playing WvW, same server, under a couple of different guilds (1 defensive, 1 offensive) depending on what I feel like doing. If I get bored/annoyed with that (and it’s usually the people that annoy me, not the game), I go do something else for a while.

It have been talken many times but before today we didn t had a patch hitting ele so hard while being so weak.
In WWW ferocity will kill any chance of roaming.
The rune change will hit ele directly.
The second sigil on 2H will again push 2H weapons hitting D/D
The weapon swap sigil buff loss will once again hit burst.
Ele DD lacks everything post patch…i can t even blind opponent if i can t keep them in fight.
Today fighting in WWW with an ele is already an uphill battle…after patch will just be trash.
Ferocity is the exact definition of lazy development.
If WWW has the huge issue of condimeta and bunkers.
And PvE just want the highest dps whatever it will be
Ferocity don t change PvE issues while ruining even more WWW.
This is the worst balance mistake since release…and they did a lot already but seems they works towards a totally broken meta where Warriors can outrun and outheal everything whil doing the same damage of a dps build with soldier equipment.
I don t know about TESO but for sure i can t explain how developers are trying with every single patch to go against everything asked by players in term of balance….
What reason can be given to ferocity?
Its unwanted, unneeded and will damage the game in the second most popular game mode while doing nothing in PVE.
And its obviously one of those things where the development collaboration will be deaf to……because CDI works only on stuff they already planned…if you agree with them there is CDI otherwise there is silence….
With ferocity change you are totally destroying D/D ele.
D/D is already forced into burst because has no mean of staying melee….but with a 20-30% burst reduction ele will just die…having everything on cooldown without even being a threat.
Why are you doing to elementalist the same thing that was the main cause of warrior being out of meta?
the lack of mobility is definitely an issue RTL was a key spell of dual daggers, and i think you can understand why a FULL MELEE profession needs something to stay in combat range.
Or you can boost of 20% the damage of all D/D skill to compensate….but what you are doing is pushing D/D ele straight out of WWW wheree already is struggling.
Please reduce cooldown on RTL
They are nerfing each build that is not OP in WWW….it s not rocket science they are about to do the worst balancing mistake since release for WWW…..
As its now balanced specs can struggle to kill conditions and bunkers…
After patch power specs will be hit hard remember 22% less damage is HUGE.
If you add traits and food i bet its 30-40% damage nerf…..
That goes nicely along the 8% healing signet nerf for warrior to give them an nsane buff
this will destroy totally www and make warriors and guardians unkillable beast with the best dps while being tanks….
The change has sense if they plan to introduce new vertical progression..

Also all the 2 handed swords are huge, really wide and/or long. Not all 2 handed swords are taller than the wielder,
There are many shorter 2 handed swords.
Unless you play an asura….then even a dagger is taller than the wielder.
The new trait won t do anything for ele survivability.
You will be able to heal Others for more but the numbers of any healing on the ele itself will be unaffected by the trait.
So ele issue is surviving…
Thus we should take a trait that removes one of our best survival traits in order to heal allies?
Doesn t make much sense as a grandmaster trait….i wouldn’t even consider it at master possibly….
Btw i will never be a healing bot…i d rather stop playing i already had to leave some guild raids due to the fact i was demanded to play staff or leave….

I disagree Illusions being AI,
They are nothing more than skills…they track a player and deal damage every X second.
They don t do anything else.
They don t change basing on opponent action or anything they just keep doing the same stuff.
AI is a different thing…
i was thinking about: Removing Restrictions.
What if finally they remove stats from equip or make them adjustable on the fly like traits?
