A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Consider this.
Until today celestial was the balanced armorset providing a midgroud damage, defense and everything.
From 15th april due to “lore” reasons it will become a set with numeric average stats that will result in one of the lowest offense paired with random healing, condition et c bonuses.
If i coould i would switch mine with knight…but anet doesn t care if they change functionality to a 4-600 gold armor…
I don’t know, it depends on each individual piece for me.
I can’t imagine running a build without celestial helm now, since it right now provides a blatantly overpowered amount of stats due to extra 1% crit damage. After the patch? We’ll see.
crit scales on power.
And as already too many post shown there is nothing OP about celestial.
Its infact one of the least popular sets.
P.S. also you don t need to wait for patch…just search for one of the threads with numbers…since we already have data.
Getting a legendary is quite balanced.
Getting a precursor have been ruined by rng and TP
Unfortunately current system push people to buy precursor with real money, because its the only part you can t progress towards
thus won t be changed.
I m keeping track of party drops.
The droprate seems really extremely lower at 49-50 since patch…
Out of 200 runs i tracked (5 players doing a fractal count as_5 runs if you check their drops)
1 ascended armor gloves
0 frctal skins
lot of uninfused rings
few infused rings
Consider this.

Fire grab…
Its all about lag masking….it works properly.
In order to make it work use it like you would use a shotgun in any random FPS.
2. I know you said it already, but I’ll restate, that prices of high end goods aren’t being controlled.
Are you an economist or a politician?
Not controlled? maybe
Try to say they are not manipulated……
3. The prices of high end goods are VERY close, if not exactly the same, to what they would be without any “TP Barons” wanting those items. There’s too much velocity for individual rich people to influence the supply/demand equation all that much, which is the only control they have if they aren’t manipulating prices.
And this is where you are speculating without any proof.
As Always with a dash of retoric….
1) sigil of generosity…..
2) TP guilds
3) sum of tp barons
A single announcement can make items spike of 1000%…..and its not personal use.
I find quite unpleasant how you try to manipulate words…..this is not communication nor transparency.
Well you just shown how to ruin a discussion in just 1 post…..
let me see
personal attack: check
low level sarcasm: check
0 facts: check
no suggestions: check
I think is better be more constructive….
P.S: take a look at what banners does……its not only dps.
reflect does a lot….
Stability does even more
Banners are outrageous balance offender if you know how to use them….
All of those can be used by DPS builds and that is even worse.
That would just balance the cheesy tactics used by dungeoneers that doens t want challenge but rewards, yet comes in the forum asking for more challenging content….
If they want more challenging content they should try as i said avoiding the copy paste runs they saw on youtube.
Or just PUG (pugging requires build adaptation, reflexes and versatile tactics).
I did…
just change cooldowns and duration of guardian defensive utilities according to elementalist “balancing”….
Tweak them considering if they are party wide or single target.
Give a huge nerf to banners….(or even better give the ability to bosses to steal them if left unattended).
Give boss boon strip auras
Give bosses some AI to change position or kite players (you can still keep them at bay using immobilize that bypass defiant)
Give bosses aoe Attacks dealing % on base HP rather than fixed damage
Voilà you have dungeon way more difficult for most speedrunners without affecting the others.
(edited by LordByron.8369)
Lol no….
Unless you exploit no dungeon can net the same as TP…..
Not even the Golden age of Cof1 could and it was nerfed…..
Wonder why TP is immune to any profit balance…
The only thing that could come close is exploiting dungeon paths….but its obviously ban worthy.
Actually you could watch melee mossman party composition
And it was an exaggeration obviously…but answers like
“they probably don t melee” just explain exactly why balance is a real issue in PvE.
Did just 2 days a go a run with 2 guardians 1 mesmer (me) 1 warrior…. (yes 4 people the 5th was afk for 3 fractals only clicking continue at end stage)
We even facetanked ascalon square without the NPC…….really awesome builds but try the same without the guardians.
(0 tactic also….just builds…)
10-100x eh? So you are now going to demonstrate to us all exactly how you make 10,000 – 100,000G in 4-6 weeks? I mean it is easy and there is zero risk. Because it is more than possible to clear 1,000G in that amount of time via pve. And I don’t mean one off events, I mean consistently, week after week, month after month.
So let’s see this trading master plan.
Show me how to make 1000G without the TP in the same time….
Then i ll link you one of the many videos showing what you asked.
Anyway John Smith is ignoring the main problem:
The unbalance in rewards goes etremely against the game philosophy.
We need BALANCE.
A TP trader should earn the same as a dungeon runner as a champ farmer as a www player or a pvp etc
The day anet will balance professions in pve we will stop seeing people asking for more challenge
Or at least a 90% will disappear. Please explain to me what is this balance and how will it make content harder…
Try to play a fotm 30 without guardians and warriors
Try to play fotm 50 with 2 guardians and 1 warrior
Get the answer….
P.S. Please don t post a vid of you soloing whatever…..
Its not the point…
The point is case 2 you can play afk, while in case 1 you have to actually watch the screen and do stuff.
P.P.S. @Joey an easier dungeon is indeed needed to explain dungeon mechanics to beginners.
We had such dungeon…it was AC..then it was changed so its easy only using speedrunning tactics thus not suited to introduce players to istances.
The day anet will balance professions in pve we will stop seeing people asking for more challenge
Or at least a 90% will disappear.
You probably don t…..people posted so many videos to disprove that theory that is not even Worth trying.
Point is we are discussing the same stuff or 2 years ago….no wonder GW2 is so far from being a competitive game…
The other contradiction I noticed in this thread, is that you guys say rich people are hurting the market and making life miserable for so many poor people by raising prices everywhere. Now, if it is so easy to be rich by playing the TP, then why are there so many poor people?
.
This is the best question possible…
The answer is the most interesting
Because other people play Guild Wars 2 and not “John’s Smith market tycoon”.
(remember the “play the way you want” that should mean a minor activity shouldn t nor profit 10-100X other nor influence other players playstile)
And i ll reverse the question
If this system is so fair…how comes is ban worthy in many other games?
If i had a gold for every player trying to kill an invisible thief
I would be at least 10 times richer than hayashi.
Many don t even try no more..since its like winning the lottery (thief can evade in stealth and is healing also probably).
Also pets (and for people used to the 5 target limit it will even bug on every single piece of invisible scenario that for some reason counts toward hit caps)…the trait is badly designed….they are giving ele only situational trash.
When you try to flip something you never lose 100% (10% maybe? while potentially you can gain 50-300%)
Also if you are not trying to flip silly stuff you perfeclty know is extreme risk and you do that just because you have so much money you are doing it for the lulz, you never risk to lose much.
The only real situation where i could have seen some risk was infact crystalline dust patch.
And that SHOULD be the rule…when speculators try to pull resources out of the TP to create a false scarcity, devs should put a new resource fast and without announcements…to punish this behavior (that is ban worthy in other games).
P.S. and i don t fall for bragging….half my guild is doing that stuff and trying to convince me to do the same…..
(edited by LordByron.8369)
The spike in few minutes dring the interview maybe?
Quite usual..
Its really fun how this forum is full of “i was so cool i bought stacks of that reselling those later for thousands golds” and then “manipulation doesn t exist!”…
@DS
I won t answer to your lazy quote…read this forum you ll be disproven by TP players themselves as many time you want…
Its really hard to discuss with people denying facts….
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/24714
Common tactic to derail topics…
You can easily spot peaks during any interview by anet revealing changes…
Obviusly people bought that much to equip their characters….
(edited by LordByron.8369)
In PvP you have to stay in a small area, in www invisibility is possibly stronger than invulnerability.
You can see an invulnerable player, see how much invulnerability is left and prepare a tactic both offensive and defensive.
How do i know?
gw2 spidy
and even admitted by players and devs.
You can disagree but you can t deny facts (see infact price spikes).
Since there is almost no risk more and more people have being pushed into speculation to the point that manipulation is out of control.
Despite this old discussion something should be done and developers knows exactly what to do since they did it already once. (see crystalline dust).
Yet they refuse and this is what i don t get…..
Wanze should i repeat every post i made ciclically?
Old example of controlled items:
Sigil of generosity….
No action from DEV and they even removed it from following year event.
Frequent example of MANIPULATED item:
Precursors…everybody knows at least a couple players that have bought dozen precursor to resell later.
Infact the precursor price rises without taking in account gold deflation or inflation….
Silk:
The prepatch resources were clearly removed from the market by someone who had access to information other player didn t have see the “insider trading” in Patches….
Sigils…just look at when they announced sigil changes last patch
How long should i go….i follow the market since a long…i could profit it myself but since i find it disgusting and unfair i don t.
Ask support maybe they will give you the items
The more i read chances increased in Patches, the more i hear and experience lesser chances….
They should really rewrite from scraps the chest since possibly is working opposite as intended (easier drops at lower levels).
Or maybe its DR that should not exist in an activity with a DAILY chest.
I actually used to vary depending on pug groups..
That made fotm less repetitive.
What i would ask to dev is:
What benefit did those change have?
Since the answer is possibly 0, they just worked to make fractal less fun.
(edited by LordByron.8369)
No keep them random…with the drop rate of prefractured.
If anything make a recipe of 4 skins to 1 of choice in the MF.
Stone heart is diamond skin 2.0
As useless and situational as the other.
It will be more frequent to meet a full sentinel thief that an ele with that trait in www…
P.S: nobody not even another thief can kill a thief…
The defense generated by stealth+ mobility has 0 counterplay…only an unreactable burst would work.
I’d argue that is a trait related issue…
When i happen to go with my WWW build (zerker 0-20-0-20-30) in low level areas (guild missions etc) the damage dealt with conjured is risible.
As i said many times..it happens when you try to balance a profession only via traits.
That making the only non TP related rare skins in the game so common is an awful idea.
They are already getting way more common after the wardrobe change.
Searching the wiki after every wipe, .
this is gw2 problem
Also next time check youtube.
way easier….
You seem to have done the 2 most common mistake on this board:
1) forgetting what you were discussing (hint: difficulty wasn t the topic, longevity and freedom of tactic was)
2) judging players without any hint of their experience but most of all without any reason….(i don t happen to fail a fractal since a loooong time despite pugging 99% of times).
I really love how the same sort of players first claim skipping is good because it gives freedom, and then when people promotes the same arguments they answer “you have to do like this!!!! L2P”
(edited by LordByron.8369)
Dredge removed JP, removed Death on panel, removed karma items, added spawns to hinder stealth…
Removed the “unsafe spot” (required coordination to the point of being arguably harder than normal) on the tower, removed pulling dredges out of the room (its not different at all pulling boss on the wall), made champion attack unblockable, changed final bosses 4 times to ensure players to play yin the most boring way (reflect used to work as a reflect for example and not like an absorb…).
Ascalon changed NPC AI 4 times to make the fractal annoying + buffed most Attacks in order to be oneshots without proper tell (expecially fighting a lot of mobs).
Cliffside Changed the boss 3 times and the chest seal removing 3 tactics
Swamp: the mesmer trick was OFFICIALLY legit and required to not be downed having 1 less utility at disposal.
Jade maw well i shouldn t even list the useless changes here…but the most useless goes to the fact that Killing tentacles doesn t hurt th eboss anymnore
just the first i remember….
(edited by LordByron.8369)
To last 2 posters:
Risk in TP => look in basic TP guides (differetiating)
Oh but i m sure you didn t know that……its like saying a dungeon speedrunners don t know about stacking….
Demand… already answered some pages ago…
Some items can and are being controlled Others requires huge sums of gold and a favourable situation…that means a possible increase of 5% due to demand/offer will turn into 15-20% increase.
Bags => T5-T6 already answered i never complained about it despite the fact they are against TOS since to get any profit out of it, you need an autoclicker.
P.S: why people would pay an overpriced item?
To play the MAIN game
I could have avoided paying overpriced silk and just stay out of fractal 50 for months
I could have avoided buying sigils and runes i needed for my build and just be suboptimal in WWW and so on.
(edited by LordByron.8369)
In WvW it’s kind of a double edged blade. Elementalists are mediocore in small scale roaming, but they excel in backlining at large zergs, throwing down meteor showers, water fields and static fields everywhere. Buffing eles too much may make them too strong in these situations.
not if they start reverting nerfs to skills and buff other skills.
They already pushed traits with no result…we can t live with our mediocre skills on HUGE cd without using cheap situatinal tactics.
We need some serious skill buffs to be viable.
Ok i m doing fractal 49or50 daily and getting 90% of uninfused rings… (10% infused no other stuff)
I start to suspect rng has nothing to do with it….
DId they break the loot table?
Its the DR?
You can t tell me its normal after 10-20 run to get only uninfused rings…that should not even be in the droplist
At least prepatch they were a rare drop.
As you learn them its easy…
… and we have a winner!
That’s the thing in most games. People at first don’t know what to do, but then they learn after repeated attempts. The problem is that a large majority of players is too lazy/mediocre for that.
.
No sad to tell it but In good games the challenge remains as costant as possible
Here turns from 100 to 0 in 2 runs.
And the “fixes” expecially in fractal aggravate the issue since they remove most alternative tactics leaving just 1 viable.
That is the reason why from release we have people complaining of impossible dungeons and other people complaining of dungeon too easy….
Its nice to see how on release each fractal had many way to be completed and you often changed tactic each run while today they just removed all but 1….
But how do rich players have an unfair advantage over regular players? Sure, they have an advantage, but is it unfair? If a single profession is OP in certain aspects of the game, i can see it being unfair towards other professions. But concerning profits on the tp, every account has the same starting requirements, we all start with 0 gold.
There is just 2 kinds of people, those who play the tp and those who dont.
And it is actually easier to double 10g investment in a day than it is doubling 1000g.
You buy huge quantity of stuff creating false lack of offer.
And you perfectly know that doubling 10G by the TP is really risky while getting a good profit from 1000 G is rather easy.
The more gold you have the more you are able to distort the market and make more gold
“doubling” is something different.
Playing the TP efficiently needs golds.
But why are we even discussing this? and why do you pretend you don t know this?
But looking at gw2 spidy just after update’s info are released is an undeniable proof of how cancerous are TP players for the game economy.
I’ve mained a Thief since launch, and all the stealth crying is just laughable. Glass cannon Thieves are incredibly squishy. If they fail to kill you in their initial burst, or you can CC them in any way, they are dead. .
These are possible the issues:
1) as you said “if they fail to kill you” that means that all is in the hand of the thief… defender skill has less impact.
2) “squishy” thief is all but squishy…but since its so easy to avoid to pay for mistake, people go full glass cannon
3) if they fail to kill you they can: evade and restealth, blind, run away, shadow .return breaking stun and curing condition….they have the most insane defensive mechanics in the Whole game…..
4) they also have built in evasions in their skills…skills that break every possible balance if compared to other profession skills
5) initiative system …
Their only balancing is they are umnable to capture point while stealthed…so they are almost balanced for pvp and horrible broken in WWW where no decent thief can be killed by anyone.
The low skill floor in www hinders the improvement of many thief players makingpossible to kill them, but that doesn t mean the profession is not the main balance offender in WWW since release.
So we have Elementalists, Guards and Warriors running the show (Necros are actually ridiculously under rated as well, very good with aoe and tanky from condi builds + the nerfs to critical damage next patch)
I think you are exaggerating….
Ele are nowhere running the show.
Before the tornado became popular (1 attack every 3 min) they were going extinct or just considered Buffbot.
And you know why? our role of roamer was nerfed to the ground to address a PVP build.
Now its your turn :| it seems…since WWW is not taken in account during balancing (see thieves and warriors), you know where you should complain…..
Complaining of a profession that can attack once every 3 minutes and then go back to its buffbot role is not fun.
P.S. i m strongly in favor to give rangers the dps of a D/D ele….
Seeing its a nerf would serve you well
@Ohoni: wall of text with over speculation without substantiating proofs
I like your round-about stretchy arguments
I think that there is indeed a problem on this forum but avoiding civil discussions goes in the interests of people wanting to preserve this status.
You can t dismiss everything with:
“You are wrong”
You should try at least to explain in detail….
To answer you:
Its not that rich are evil …
Yet as in other parts of the game, players with an unfair advantage, wants to preserve it…
Its not that other players cares if those players has advantage until said advantage starts hindering their game.
Infact i see a strong relation between certain profession community and TP community.
Answers are the same, behavior is identical.
As we all said its all about RISK/REWARDS…
TP lacks risk…..you said “oh wait but we are doing the community a favour”
NO you are not doing any favour.
You are devaluating gold for any demanded items more than it should.
In the meantime you fail to keep a live market for less demanded item.
Quite the same of a broken inflated economy.
Also morally speaking, you are forcing a financial PvP over players not interested.
There are so many reasons why current market should be changed asap….
I hope to not receive the usual reply….
P.S. and the answer: “taxes would be payed by consumers” imho is really lazy…
There is something that change raising taxes….its infact RISK.
More risk, less easy speculation, more fair market.
(edited by LordByron.8369)
This thread shows exactly why the tp forums should have been closed instead of the WvW matchups, a toxic bunch of “players” with all the time in the world on their hands. Of course this can’t happen because it’s the baby of the “economist”.
If you feel strongly about this one, why dont you open a new topic and ask for the BLTC Forum to be closed?
The majority of people who posted a toxic comment in this topic, also had multiple constructive ones, except you.
I would also argue that the economy itself is the “baby” of the Economist, not this Forum.
I d ask a more democratic CDI in general section about the perception of players about the great economy we have…
But seems any post will be moved in the speculators lair…..and obviously no CDI despite it got quite some votes during the CDI official poll.
In map chat at LA and not only there, it seemed that most people didn t knew what to do….
On the forum, on reddit etc you would see the same.
Issue is mechanics are unclear.
Inthis case, following Mai mechanics are not clear:
1) the aura ._. where is written you have to kill her 1st? and how?
2) the ranged attack, a flashy unavoidable attack that appears only when the real one already hit….also the targeting of the farthest person every time.
3) cannons…how can you guess they are spread amongst players?
and many more….
If you ignore even few of those you are going to struggle.
As you learn them its easy….
well so you knew the switch position in the labyrint you did with 3 people while a warrior soloed the radiation part?
You never died in the process and clearly knew saving technicians would debuff boss?
You are really smart….or you are neo and can read the code because there was a severe lack of clues as in swamp fractal.
Banner ress is nothing like tactical or skill intensive…Keeping it because it favors the smallest side is not a valid point.
It can also favour the biggest side losing.
Are you really saying that the ability for one player to contest a keep alone so easily is balanced?
i wonder why they removed stealth capping ability then…its more fair.
There are so many threads recently about WWW thieves and warriors complaining about who is more OP ._.
They’d better not ask for nerfs to other profession since if it happens they ll lose their main excuse:
“oh but warrior/thief is also OP”
P.S. and this is WWW where those 2 profession are immortal….
(edited by LordByron.8369)
Yeah you whould kill the warrior…its not that a warrior can pull an extremely long invulnerability…. ._.
It can t even be stealthed by a thief….
Its all balanced….
