Just voicing the opinion of anyone who plays tournaments above a mediocre level. Even eles think the ele is way OP…..even more so now sigh.
The Epidemic nerf hurts, but it does not make the ability “useless.” You guys are being melodramatic.
Nerfing burst is good for the game in the long term, even if it will require further adjustments to thieves and warriors down the line.
I do agree that the lack of changes to elementalists is getting ridiculous, though. When are the nerfs finally going to come?

Why? they did nothing to nerf the op builds. In fact they are mega buffed with the haste/quickness nerf. Such epic fail patch. Worst patch I have ever seen balance wise.

Ye. Warrior is now utterly useless. But at least they have banners. Eles dont even have to worry about hasted thieves now. They are truely unkillable.

This game is now a pve game. FACT.
The S/d ele got buffed in this patch. No nerfs and yet:
Arc Lightning skill: Now strikes enemies that it passes through.
No nerfs.
And in fact it got passive mega buff by nerfing quickness which was a way to actually kill an ele before he healed to full.

They could do something like: 15.000 glory = 1 week
Also everyone is assuming 1 player has to pay everything. If playing competively 10 people will be using this CA, so i guess price/10

Yeh but the same is true for a mesmer. A necro has no way to get out of immobalise or stuns because we are forced to not run stun breakers really. A ranger obviously will beat a mesmer with being able to get out of immobalise anyway and because their ai pet helps them.
I find mesmer 50:50 on my condi necro. I would rank hardest to easiest classes to 1v1 (although a necro should never 1v1 if he is running res sig/epidemic/staff/etc because it is weak):

Easiest: EngiSeems legit. Actually as you described you know how to handle the class. So for all necros who know mesmer-mechanics as you do, it’s a freekill. (Saw this in lots of duells)

To me 200 a week seems reasonable. In fact it sounds like a good deal. I would even say 400 a week would be better for them. I would pay 400 a week easily. 200 a day though. hmmm, that just seems a little too much. In fact I would pay 100 a day for sure. Thats just me. If even I am thinking 200 a day is too much then they wont sell many. I have no problems spending money in this game.
And here I was thinking that 200 gems seems really reasonable for a month. If they actually implement it to be 200/day, then gl finding anyone actually wanting to rent those servers.

Pets shouldnt chase you for miles either. It is stupid having some pet behind you when the ranger is the other side of the map. Unrealistic and OP and lame.
How to fight a mesmer as a necro:
1, Target the real one
2, Keep an eye on his character potrait at the top of the screen
3, When you see the illusionary leap symbol (a small foot) then dodge to avoid it.
4, If he dazes you with pistol or pulls you with focus then instantly pop into DS and fear him then repeat step 3
5, Gradually load him with conditions and try and dodge through his illusions when shatter is coming
6, If he uses the chaos storm then wait till near the end of it then corrupt his boons
Result = a dead mesmer. It is hard ofc because 1 error = death. But you should win alot of the time vs a mesmer doing this. And illusionary lea kitten o buggy that sometimes the stupid thing immobalises you even when you dodge it.
I love the fact that for the first time this poll proves that THE biggest priority for people is class balance. This shows that those (elementalists usually) who claim class balance isnt a large reason behind a declining population are wrong. The balance might seem nice from an ele’s point of view, but for those of us without god mode yeh it feels lame alot of the time to be able to have fair and fun fights with every class and then just lose the game because eles on the other team manage to push your point all game whilst never dying. This is possible even for bad eles because the class is such a faceroll with such a tiny skill requirement to be good at.
Personally, I understand that features take time. But balance not getting anywhere is a different matter. Unless we see some changes to balance in the patch tomorrow then I will think long and hard about quitting this game as it will prove they really dont have a clue about the game or that pvp balance is secondary to pve balance (lol balance in player vs ai wtf?!?!?!?!).
I am glad this poll shows I am in the largest group of people with these thoughts. And hope that maybe anet will wake up and realise how important balance is to so many of us.

OP, it seems you really don’t understand how ridicolously broken the ele is currently.
The ele is ruining the whole meta, and no i’m not exaggerating.

And they are nerfing thieves burst so now even mega bad eles can bring more to their team than even good players on other classes. At the moment only semi bad eles can bring loads to their team because thieves might get the mega bad ones. Nope, that changes with the patch possibly.
What is annoying is that the ele is by far the defining class but most importantly it is BY FAR the easiest class to play to a reasonable level. I will happily pick an ele up in map chat and know that even if he sucks he is still going to help the team alot just because he is an ele.
Mesmer? Miss a dodge and you die. Necro? Miss and dodge and you die. Warrior? Miss a dodge and you die. Thief? Miss a dodge or a shadowstep and you die. And those are even with builds with toughness (except the thief)
1 mistake and you die as these classes in alot of 1v1 fights. Or at least put yourself on the back foot.
As an ele firstly you can just spam dodge because you have perma vigor. Secondly even if you tank everything they throw at you then it is simple to just remove all conditions or just pop a cantrip. So many “O kitten” buttons that makes the ele a class for bad players to feel like pros using. And even if they tank a load of damage they get so much passive no skill bs like the ice elemental, loads of water heals just by using their skills, healing on dodge, protection just by going into a frigging attunement!!! And the build fits together perfectly. You actually get rewarded for playing bad as an ele.
Mess up and have to go into mist form? O here you go have some more boons. O look those boons also give me even more damage. O wow just clicking through my rotation and I have 12 stacks of might. O look I just went into this attunement and it gives me regen and cures conditions. And the regen then cures another condition without even thinking about it. Every other class has to manage their health and condi removal.
Ele = massively OP and massively easy to be effective at. Result = around 30-50% of players in strong teams are eles. If the game was balanced it would be 12.5%. No wonder so many people quit as if you dont play ele it is hard to actually get in a team. You only have 2-3 spots you can fit in.
Patch notes:

since march is also a WvW patch, AoE will be nerfed, affecting thief shortbow most probably.
Basically they’ll kill the thief for competitive ( can you see the joke) play, and bring the only decent thief build down to subpar like any other thief build, probably believing we’ll play them insted of rerolling ele like any half brained guy would do.they also said theyll buff other areas, but I SERIOUSLY doubt they’ll do something relevant.

I agree. The mug nerf seems odd. Honestly if they nerf thieves and dont touch ele I dont know what to say. I guess it will prove they dont have a clue about balance.
One of the few classes which can actually help kill an ele quickly in a 2v1 before he runs off and heals to full then comes back is a thief. Because it has alot of burst and has mobility capable of tracking down an ele. It still isnt a certainty that the thief will get the ele even with help though. The ele will still get away often.
To nerf thief burst (it is lame but the thief needs more options) is a good thing but the results will be bad. Ele will be even more overpowering. Thieves are far from OP right now. I would class them maybe 5/6th best class. And they are coming with what sounds like MASSIVE nerfs to this class whilst they think ele healing isnt op. Anet could be about to release the biggest fail balance patch in history.
Also if they are nerfing thieves for wvw that is even more laughable. Once culling is gone that nerfs thieves. And thieves suck in proper wvw because the ownage trains want people with high aoe and lots of fields (ele) or with alot of cc/stability (guardians/warriors).
So they are going to crush the only class which can potentially punish an ele for playing badly, FAIL

I can only think it is because it is going to take more than 10 minutes to code this in. Maybe there is a problem or something. Otherwise I agree it truely is one of the strangest things not to be fixed. It is surely a bug that rtl isnt effected by chills and cripples. IT is a bug which effects the result of every tournament match that occurs pretty much and yet it is not fixed by anet.
An ele will still be able to cure the chill/cripple easily alot of the time anyway. So rtl needs to be at least 15 s cooldown. I would leave it at 18 or something and effect it with chill and cripple..
If they cant do this then I would make rtl a 40s cooldown or something till they can figure it out.
A game defining “bug” (rtl not effected by slows) that has been in for 7 months really isnt promising for this game. The whole bunker ele/far point ele problem revolves around this ability. It is the way they escape without you being able to do anything before quickly healing to full and coming back to press your close point again. If it was effected by chills and cripples you could punish an ele for making a mistake of going into a fight he cannot win. At least if you play well enough to chill or cripple him at the right times.
On other maps an ele is obviously the best class. However on spirit watch it is game breaking in how OP it is. The way they can carry orbs is absurd. It really isnt much fun when you know as soon as an ele gets the orb its basically a goal already. RTL not being effected at all is just depressingly annoying. How is this not fixed?
Spirit watch is great but the patch needs to address these imbalances in the map which make the map feel very lame as 3 eles is probably the best spec (at least 2).
My solution:
- Make rtl effected by the speed deduction by reducing its ranger to 40% of what it should be.
- Or just make rtl drop the orb
Mist form with the orb isnt really a problem imo.
Is rtl with the orb going to be fixed with the patch? it needs to be. Or please dont include spirit watch in the rotation again.

It is stupid how a pet can follow you for about 5 minutes miles away from a ranger. I think pets should automatically come back to their owner when they go over 1500 ranger away. It is unrealistic that a pet will just be chasing you for miles and then the ranger can just get a new one by his side whenever he needs it.
I cant believe the current way pets work is intended but it could be? Put them on a leash please. Nothing more annoying than some stupid jaguar eating me when its master is the other side of the map!
Of course they should have a reset, everyone expected them to and thus not a single serious team has been competing in their 5 man roster, everyone has either pugged or soloqued, messing the ratings up, lol.
Who would ever START a ladder season with results from a time when nobody was competing about the top of the ladder?

I think a solution would be to maintain the current ladder till the end of april and then reset it. This would allow them to do even more testing and would mean people’s current efforts aren’t wasted. But would still ensure a new season can start afresh. I think they need to do seasons when the ladder comes. Like 2 monthes per season or it will just get dull.

haha, they nerfed ele healing by as much as 50% so its not a problem anymore apparently. Also minion master necro is now a world class build AND…..(dramatic drum roll) pets now have agony resistance
In seriousness the sotg was ok. They had a bit of trouble I think the devs but generally they all came across as nice guys who are committed to their work.
Corrupt boon / epidemic is getting less and less viable, due to team-based condition-removes (eg. water-attuenement, shout-guard with soldier-runes). What I would play is wells, for boons-into-conditions. It’s not only on one target. As the necro is a dedicated teamfighter and will often act in teamfights, wells are on top. Corrupt boon is viable for taking out single classes faster.

Wells are perfect for a condition build. I think you just not tried yet, but saying my statement is false, tells me you played since release just one build. W/E i won’t discuss this any further with ppl that refuse to accept different meanings.
I played wells for ages and it is just worse than corrupt boon and epidemic.You cant take hemophillia, focussed rituals and terror. It is hard to run a good condi build without both terror and hemophillia imo.
In addition, avoiding wells is easy during team fights. It is unlikely the opposition wont rotate on and off points limiting the power of your wells. IMO wells fit better into a build with more power.
There are also maps like spirit watch and legacy where wells suck because the middle is too big on legacy and because the fighting is too mobile on spirit watch.

Having a “strongest” and “weakest” option for classes only, doesn’t portray anything solid in terms of class balance, and the fact that it is both hotjoin and tpvp makes it even more vague.

50% of people think the ele is the strongest class. I think this gives anet a free hand to nerf them significantly now. As to achieve a % that high means they must be really OP.
In terms of the warrior I agree with them at Sotg that they have to be careful cos the warrior is close to good (it is for sure viable now). A reworking of the tactics minor traits is what I would like to see and a 20% buff to all the heals a warrior has too.

The pressure an ele can put on far point as well as being useful in so many of the additional objectives on maps (orb running, killing trebs, Stealing bosses or killing them) make it crazily Op. You can send 2 to close point. Chase the ele off but he wont die. Will heal to full and then come back as soon as it is open again. If it is never open then well gl fighting 5vs 4 on the rest of the map.
They must have some problems programming chilled/cripple effecting rtl otherwise they would of done it by now.
And ele changes the whole game. Trying to play without one isnt fun. I have done it many times and it really sucks.
It is to stop the pvp community realising it is another patch with nothing for us lol. Just like the “we are adding matchmaking” when it was already in.
Feb/march = supposedly pvp months. What did we get? 1 new map. The end.
To be honest I usually avoid fighting them 1 on 1 haha because I figure its a bad engagement for a necro with no utilitiys of any use in a 1v1. On occasion I am forced to though and really I often just get owned so hard lol. Hence I wondered for tips :P

IMO, necro is a well balanced class. All of our builds have strengths and glaring weaknesses. Corrupt boon is powerful but takes alot of skill to land. Even the best necro will miss a significant number of corrupt boons. You do learn how to hit it more and more over time though.
We have no mobility in or out of combat and really no boons. Marks also dont work on downed players which hurts us alot. Our aoe is how aoe should be. It is weak 1v1 but strong in team fights.
This contrasts with other classes whose aoe is still exceptional 1v1, and who have no weaknesses like a total lack of mobility or boons.
And to run corrupt boon/epidemic/res signet you have no stun breakers at all. And your obviously weaker than you would otherwise be 1 on 1
THIS. Please put some rank requirement up, sick and tired of losing because I got 2 rabbits in my team…

Yes I want conquest. It is easily the best game mode and adds complexity to fighting. TDM is and always will be lame imo
Lord is exactly correct. The fact that there are people here who don’t seem to understand how incredibly bad this MMR is for a game that is supposed to be ‘competitive’ is shocking.
I think a good starting point would be to start new players out at the bottom possible rank. Then after 3 games assign them a rank. It is annoying that they start out at medium level and this ruins many many games because these people are really inexperienced and bad. Yet their rating doesnt reflect this because they havent had a chance to show how bad they are.
The MMR should presume everyone sucks until they prove otherwise. This would stop alot of the stompings currently happening to solo queuers.
Here is a typical occurance whilst solo queuing. But o yeh anet I should carry this team right?
And no it isnt just about ranks. It is about premades having tactics and most crucically having a good team composition. The necro/2 warrior/2 thief comp isnt exactly great.
It is a joke. The ladder is going to be a COMPLETE joke because people like me cannot get high on it no matter how pro we are.
Everyone on my team quit after about 3 minutes.

Every single game I am vs premades AND every single game you put some rank 5 on my team.
Why even bother? Whats the point in even playing the games? It is a joke.
if they got a grip on macros and banned people using them then maybe there would be less people just getting demoralized by thieves 1 shotting them.
The photo in the OP isnt even that bad lol. There are much worse instances. I dont understand why the system seems to think it is remotely appropriate to put a level 1 newb in a team of otherwise probably high ranked players. This is very common and should be fixed. Please start players off with a zero rating before they play any games. And then normalise this rating after 3 matches. ATM it has been suggested people start with an “average” rating before they play. This shouldnt be the case.
Either way, anet really need to sort this issue out. It is a matchmaking issue and makes about 50% of my solo q games lame.

No. They absolutly should not reset the ladder again. There is NO NEED to do this unless they are changing it to divide solo and team queue. Then reset the ladder. Otherwise never ever will they do this if they have ANY sense. People will be very annoyed if their hard work will count for nothing anyway.
Because there is no mmr system right now they say that it got reset and then introduce it as if it was there all along.
Not sure if your being serious? There is definately an MMR system. Most games are competitive (although sometimes I have a disaster and we lose heavily and sometimes the opposition has a disaster and the same happens.)

It is just about getting people “in the door”, and into the mists and then they can and will explore tournaments etc.
backstab is a million times harder to play than a bunker ele in competitive play.
Yup. Thief must have good positioning, target selection, use his evasion and weapon swapping at the right times and work with the team for things like resses. Otherwise a thief just dies. Its very easy to kite bad thieves into the aoe at a team fight where they just die. An ele on the other hand just gives so much even if they dont try to do anything “correctly”
We know that there will be more means to counter boon builds in the future.
That is my concern. This sounds like a “soon” thing like the aoe nerf. I dont think I can bothered with 4 more months ele dominating before this feature comes in.
I find it exceptionally frustrating that AN AVERAGE ELE is still, as helseth said, an INSANE threat to the opposition team. No other class has this. The level I have had to get to in order to be able to carry games as a necro (on occasion – often i suck ofc :P) is just absurd in comparison. But yet every noob on an ele can just change a game.
How would people feel about removing the cooldown on the sigil of nulification?
They said you only get 1 laurel a day from whichever daily you do. I don’t think this will encourage people to come play PvP like how this idea was originally intended.
I disagree. People often have an hour to play and even if they would rather do pvp they will do their daily to get their laurel and atm they cant do it in pvp. When they can do it in pvp SOME will chose to do so. Thus the population will be expanded by this. I predict it will expand alot but you might be correct and it will only be a minor boost.
