You need to equip the spec in your build-window, no idea what else you would need oô
All in all balance updates need to rework alot in terms of traits and skills.
How well that will go we’ll just have to wait out and see.
Thing is, how do you expect the system to change about the 2 Core – 1 Elite-Line-Thing?
The only thing they could do there would be either to allow multiple elite-lines, let’s be honest, that shouldn’t happen.
Or they could try to introduce more core lines… which sounds unrealistic.
So what do we have inbetween?
Well… mostly rebalance in what we have so far, maybe apply some of the philosophy that went into the elite-specs into the core lines?
As in top, middle and bottom lines have a true and linked purpose.
Maybe some traits should change altogether? Written in Stone and Powerful Auras would come to mind for a complete overhaul.
Furthermore i still think that the core-classlines (Discipline, Arcana, Soulreaping, Tools, Trickery, Illusions, Virtues, Beastmastery and Invocation) need a complete rework and should be elite-specs inthemselves so that you can’t use both together, let’s be honest here, it is, in some builds, one of the reasons for overperformance.
So… yeah, we need big updates in that regard, preferably we’d even get giant updates as soon as an expansion hits just to make sure that new elite-specs don’t overperform.
You’ll get answers on this saying no, you’ll get a few saying yes.
I’d say yes but.. well… everyone’s taste differs.
You mean aside the live story that’s been coming out since last year? oô
I agree. There is much more potential to make a good game in tuning what we have then releasing more specs. But new content like a third WvW map and PvE zone, new dungeons and story can be added. The problem might be that new class and elites are usually core drivers to buy expansions … On the other side optimizing current traits and skill has more long term value … So waht strategy is behind. Grab fast money or make an endurable game that might even shine in esports.
Making an expansion isn’t exactly fast..
But I would be in favor of a fast cash grab, if it was like a utility skill pack, with a price tag of about 10 – 20 €. Missing skills for professions, additional weapons for some of them(let’s face it, warrior or guardian isn’t exactly missing any, unlike fe. engineers or revenants), and bringing variety to revenant skill bars with more utility skills.
I’d much rather see Revenant get traits removed and then some added that actually make work with his selfheal, elite slot and class mechanic.
The skills themsevles, some may need their energy cost looked at, are okay.
What irks me are the traits more than anything since you have no real way of combining two legends in a coherent playstyle.
I’d say you can play it without a problem.
It has it’s downsides but which class hasn’t.
If there is no problem with it on your timetable try it out, then decide.
I’d say it is unfinished.
But that’s more because there seem to be wonky traits and way too little ways to make the different legends work together.
A trait in each line regarding the selfheal, one for a specific weapon (cooldown, extraeffects whatever) and one for the elite-slot, not a specific elite, and/or legend swap would help a lot i think.
In regards of underwater combat… well… i see why we only have two legends there… Jallys doesn’t make sense lorewise (he’s made out of stone so would sink),
Ventari with his tablet mechanic (which i like by the way) would be hindered as well, no way to place it in a 3D Environment.
In terms of underwater content i do hope they return to it someday, overhaul it a little, make it more fluid, because, i like it, i want this to be a good part of the game, not just a feature left in the gutter.
Sadly a lot of people are like this and honestly, if you are at that point you may want to take a break.
If they rebuild DR after that onslaught, please let us be part of the process.
- Allow us to vote on characters/architects that each have their own different vision of the city.
- Have different designs to go towards too
- Don’t go “BAM” new city. Take it and be quiet. Without any real build up. LA was badly done, as it didn’t forshadow the endresult in anyway, but instead dropped it over night. There were barely any steps in between.
- Give us more stake, than “choose a name”. This is now participation, that’s blindsiding the players with something unimportant. Heck, even the “Guildname” was nothing more than a cheap GoT reference, with no real impact or reasoning.
- Put more effort into it. We know that you are able to, since you did it with the Kiel/Gnashblade debatte. That actually felt like something.
I mean, just imagine if we could have voted on race integration in LA. As a multi-culti city, there could have been a Asura quarter, studyng the ley lin energy. Or we could have voted against it, because it would be dangerous.
So many possibilities in design choices, that could have made some interesting stories for the future.
Uhm, they didn’t just drop it. There was a long time you could see the outline of the lobster for example as only the foundation was set up.
And honestly, the redesign of the city makes kinda sense.
It’s a fortified city now, it’s supposed to be able to withstand an assault, we have defendable walls with cannons and what not, the old LA meanwhile was mostly made out of wood and possibly could have been destroyed by someone sneezing at the wrong time.
In the long run it comes down to taste, i liked the old LA but i like the new one better.
And honestly, i doubt they would rework Divinity’s Reach like LA, you know why? Lobster, Kraken and Co are there because it’s a harbour city, it has a sea theme and it makes sense!
I agree with the topic. I miss Influence. I miss being able to slowly build my own personal guild up from scratch. I miss being able to build my own banners, boosts and guild bank, and drop them out for others.
Then I wanted to remake the guild because I wanted to change the name, around the time HoT came out, only to discover that I couldn’t get back any of that now, because it’s all gated behind a guild hall, and guild missions, neither of which I like to do.
But isn’t the point of a guild to do stuff with others?
I don’t think DR will be destroyed really. A.net tends to shy away from shocking world map changes since Season 1. I remember reading it’s an issue and part of the reason why Kessex Hills is still a mess as if things just happened.
I’d actually enjoy big shocking events more… at least that way enemy reworks and other things can be implemented way easier…
Where do you get the impression that you are supposed to log in for the cash shop?
Advertising 101 (I used to work in print ad sales).
If you don’t want to log in, don’t log in, the reward “track” keeps on going and just moves on when you log in next, no harm done.
There are 365 days in the year. If I log in every day of the year, then in that year I will get 365 rewards. If I don’t log in every day, then I will get less than 365 rewards.
So your problem is that you get rewarded for loging in but not for not logging in?
I really don’t understand this… sorry.
And on that note, i log in almost every day and i barely look at the shop, so i’m getting this problem even less.
Addendum: Since the shop isn’t open as soon as you log in, nor does the game pester you with popups about new purchases that make your account more nifty and shiny i don’t get the Advertisment argument either.
Yes, the shop is there, sure, you may open it when going to the trading post, well… don’t go to the trading post, you admit yourself that you rarely play or do anything and therefore don’t even need the amount of rewards so what is the point here?
Second Addendum: Your arguement makes even less sense since the rewards for logging in don’t open up the store either. Nothing, except seeking out the store window, makes you see the new purchases!

They could add soundbites like the Tempest attunements recharging… not sure though how useful it is in the longrun, would be nice QoL for sure, but only if you could manage it with some options i guess.
Yeah, “real” tutorials would be nice – but in my experience a lot of people will just skip them. And it would most likely take ANet a lot more ressources to add them to the game than adding daily-achivements.
At least new event scaling with more Veterans and Elites would be nice.
A lot of the events in Core-Tyria should be on a much higher level already when there are 5+ Players.
It should involve knowing your class to do event chains in Orr, at least in my opinion.Heck, i’d like it if the outpost system from HoT was moved to Orr because it would actually fit the maps.
What is so interesting about making an HP sponge into a bigger sponge?
If they ever get around to implementing the scaling they mentioned before launch then that would be different story.
If you’d read my former post as well i would love to see Vets have more advanced builds from normal foes and Elites more advanced from Vets.
That’s how those things should work and in some games did work (CoX for example had a great Trash-Mob Tier system where each different Tier added or changed how a foe worked).
And honestly, what normal foe is a HP sponge? Most normal foes in core game fall with you looking at them, now if they had some updated mechanics (1 poison stack spider spray should apply at least 3 stacks), and would fulfil different roles in a meaningful way (Undead Healers for example, they do exist), that would be something else again. What i want is for foes to actually pose a challenge, heck i’d reduce the amount of damage power can dish out by quite a margain, the whole game needs a rework in regards of damage, buffs, healing and so forth.
(Please consider i want this for events mainly, although the average foe could use a look at too…)Going from normal -> veteran -> elite is mostly just piling on HP and damage with a few exceptions. Same with scaling their levels above the player which also adds glancing blows effectively increase the HP pool without changing other things.
Hence i’m calling for a rework of it all. Thanks for reading.
The plan is to have the Salma District (ie, Home) destroyed so that it can be rebuilt to accommodate player Housing, including a Stable for mounts, and a Vestibule (a place to store build templates).
So why would they do that only to the Salma district then? There are more “Homes” than just that.
And God do i hope there will never be freaking mounts in this game.

Only one I ever did of those was daily dodger and healer (if you mean daily rez). As it is now, dailies are meant to get players to do certain activities and visit certain maps, not perform certain mechanics.
A mixture of both would be nice though. Especially since a few of those would be done regardless of area so no pressure.
Because of the mobility a mesmer brings + portal he can go close, easily catch up to mid and go back to close without much of a problem in no time.
At least if you play the meta build
Not sure about that. The mobility of a mes is a bit of a myth compared to some other classes. Mes has a 30 sec blink skill + 25% movement speed if spec’d into chrono. Eles, warrs, rangers and thieves have far more mobility (in this case to cover greater distances in a short time) than mes in and out of combat. Portal is not carried by many mes from what I’ve seen + doesn’t help you get to mid.
As probably around 90% of the mesmers run the meta chrono condi, you also have Phase Retreat on staff which operates as a shorter range Blink in the right hands with a very low CD.
Furthermore, any decent mesmer must carry portal (I think almost all of them does), which is one of the best utility skills in the game for pvp. Just watch how many threads are being opened with the amount of tears, complaining about portals.
And with portals, you can get back to close in no time to stop the enemy decapping it, that’s the logic behind it.
Personally I prefer to use portal in an offensive way depending on the enemy comp, as many times a close portal just goes into waste
For multiple reasons, even with lots of mesmers on my team using it right, i actually would love for Portal to change in mechanic.
But that’s another story altogether and not topic of this thread.
Combo Killer only lasted one day in the Dailies rotation, and never worked, at that. One reason many might not remember it. Just a bit of trivia.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Combo-Killer/page/3#post1311854
Still one worth bringing back and maybe have a look at it.
Combo Fields should be a key mechanic for PvE but many people i end up talking to in game don’t know jack about them and are actually surprised what you can do if you try to use them to your advantage.

All for this.
But an actuall tutorial would be nice as well…
Maybe a bit better enemies in the coregame…
better Event scaling (more Vets with better builds? More elite-enemies).
You could do a looooooooooooooooot to improve the whole game so that players know what they are doing at Lvl 80.
I’d actually say Eir could become a ranger legend.
Here’s the thing why: Look at Rytlocks dialouge during Prisoners of the Dragon.
He can feel Eir’s presence due to his revenant-magic, or mist-connection, or whatever it is that we hopefully get an explanation for soon.
And i think, this is just speculation, i think this is because Eir is, in her own right, a legend already.
Maybe it’s not a leyline but Magic crackling along from the shot? Just saying o.o
Actually i’ve been playing with GS in ranked.
It’s a situational weapon you should only use when the time is right, it can be quite useful though.
Sure, it’s harder to hit but you don’t have just your GS at your disposal.
Capricorn is a really enjoyable one tho, or is that just me?
Actually i think it’s good too.
I like Skyhammer, it’s an exciting map. Spiritwatch would be a terrible choice, or should I say “teamdeathmatchwatch?” No, thank you.
Coliseum might be an interesting choice. It would need class stacking removed though.
The entire sPvP needs class stacking removed.
The general problem here, as with every meta build at the moment is the synergy between certain things.
There are, since the release of elite specs, traits and skills that overperform in certain situations.
So those combinations, as well as some other stuff, need to be looked at.
Mesmer was brought up here… if i remember right Chrono at the moment runs elite spec as well as Illusions and because of that combination it can overperform as a condi build.
Easy fix? Make old class lines elite specs and rework them properly and look at what exactly is overperforming.
Quite honestly i think that should apply to warrior as well, and if you think about it, maybe AH should be in Discipline so that you can either have a tanky Warrior OR a bursty Berserker who eats you up.
After all, A-Net wants purity of purpose.
On that note, i’d still like to see the elite-spec symbols in PvP as i think only running the classic symbols hides information when you look at your team and the enemy in the prep time, but that’s another story altogether.
I’d say it’s far mor likely that Episode 4 will hit at the end of the PvP Season. So February 7th.
Called it!
So, i have a small guild as well, most of the guildhall, we are currently at Level 34 i believe, was built with two people, one of which was me.
I will say that i find it sad that influence is gone but i actually enjoyed building the guildhall, it takes long, yes, but on the other hand, at least i, have a long time goal with this.
It will take me even longer to get my scribe anywhere, or the guildhall to max lvl at that, but in parts i want to say that is due to certain bottlenecks, like the fact that you gain way too little flax-seeds but need like 8K of them for a single lower level upgrade.
Again, in the long run i enjoy the building, but i get the frustration at the same time.
The system does favor larger guilds, not sure how this could be solved so that smaller guilds don’t feel like they fall behind because influence was easier to gain for larger guilds as well.
Warriors have an elite-banner though…
I get the point, would love the “missing” skills too but warriors have an elite-banner.
PS: Oh, wow… i’ve read that really wrong i guess, now that i look at the opening thread again.
(edited by LouWolfskin.3492)
PvP reward tracks hand them out like candy.
Huh, i’ve seen the number 15% damage shave quite a few times in here now….
So…wouldn’t the problem lie, in parts at least, in traits like Lead Attacks?
So… it comes down again to: don’t have two class-mechanic lines in one class, again.
For me at least.
I personally think both should be in there.
Yes, short battles are nice but there has to be a certain length sometimes, else we might as well kick every heal from PvP and say: Deal with it.
See, supportive builds should have their role, heal should be a thing to take into consideration.
If you only want fast paced short lived battles, well, let’s say everyone only plays thieves with no heal, there, got your fast paced battles.
I personally enjoy my characters, i have some with builds that are bursty, some that try to gnaw an enemy down to the bone slowly and i think for a good game both are needed.
So far everything you gain as a reward is immediate.
PvP season and LS aren’t connected with dates. So Id say its more likely that LS ep4 hits next week.
I really hope it does as well. This 2 month waiting period is killing me smalls
You are right, they aren’t connected, A-Net does tend to try and keep the big patches together though.
With the end of the season a new off season Balance patch wouldn’t be out of the question and it would make sense for them to bundle both together.
Doesn’t mean it will happen, but it could.
So you are implying that power build can’t kill just as fast?
People simply feel powerless against conditions because before they could be ignored, to a point at least.
I personally don’t think that conditions themselves are overtuned but maybe a few skills applying them (Reapershroud 4 for example).
That is pretty mild compared to Poison Volley.
It was an example, nothing more.

I’m not sure how you can talk about spam.
Most skills do have a cast time and also a rather long recharge.
Or are 30-40 seconds not enough?
Should we go higher? Do you want to play with your auto attack mostly?
How about every skill on 60 seconds, would that reduce spam?
I’m not saying that the powercreep HoT introduced is good, far from it, i would love to see a lot of balance changes but you can learn how each class works and counter most of it.
Most Dragonhunters don’t even use full traps anymore but a set of two, maximum three because they loose out on utitility otherwise.
And many people (ab)using multiple stunbreakers or some with a lower cooldown, sure, but you should ask why they see this as neccessary.
A lot has to happen to make this more skilled again but spamy?
Not sure i can agree on that point.
Also: Trying to put TERA and GW into relation to each other really doesn’t work. I’ll admit i never played TERA for long because the game just doesn’t fit my taste but it isn’t similiar enough to try and compare.
WvW is more team than anything tbh
You’re right and that makes me sad…
Nothing against wvw, it’s awesome.
But I can’t figure out why ANet is forcing this solo/duo queue only bs in ranked spvp… it’s a 5v5 team based game…I’ve never played an mmo where I was actively forced to NOT play with my friends… lol
The playerbase was asked to vote on this.
A-Net isn’t forcing you, the playerbase is so if you want to blame someone either blame your fellow players for having voted solo/duo or blame yourself if you didn’t vote in the poll. The playerbase also voted for Trump.
Your point being?
You can go up to WvW, repair, return to PvE for free.
GH is faster if you have Lost Precipice
But not free if you have to waypoint (and do some running) back to where you were. Leaving WvW returns you to the exact spot you left in PvE.
Isn’t it the same for the guild hall? oô

I hope the next elite spec is a tanky/support based shroud and the new weapon enables this (like shield or focus).
Isn’t the reaper gs pretty tanky?
We have a blind field, lots of chill, an AoE pull… it sounds tankish for Guild Wars standards.
The shroud as well… pretty tankish.
And when you actually combine two sets of utility skills, like shouts and wells, you can get pretty tanky there as well, even supportish.
dh is op in pvp since they made points the exact radius as traps. No they wont address this since pve is superior? lol Anet busted a nut to have esports in gw2 but it’s dead because they have no idea what they are doing. mechanics its a great game, but game play both wvw/pvp is complete kitten. ya kittenc you anet. lol #kitten
I am pretty sure that DH traps, just like ranger traps, have a smaller radius than the average capture point in PvP.
Quite a number of engineer utilities have been frequently referred to as having flawed design on these forums, or as being no longer worth taking after being nerfed. Med kit, Medic Gyro, Slick Shoes, Rocket/Thumper/Rifle/Flame/Net Turrets (and hence Supply Crate) and Shredder Gyro all come to mind as having been discussed recently in these terms.
I personally would also question the value of Elixir R now that function gyro exists; I may or may not be alone here since I have not seen this skill discussed for quite a while.
Beyond that various users have complained that some skills are usable but not as strong as they think they should be – I’ve seen a fair amount about rifles in this vein but otherwise opinions range widely as this is quite subjective territory.
Related to this point are criticisms of the engineers traits and traitlines: part of the reason why some people think that gadgets utilities underperform is that they think those skills do not trait as well as e.g. elixirs.
Function gyro brings to light problems with all rezz-skills outside of the warrior elite banner, that nobody uses anyway, and maybe Search and Rescue.
Rezz-skills in general should get a rework so that they actually make sense to use.
Casttime is a problem for example, secondary effects, recharge time and so on.
Function gyro just doesn’t have those poblems, and while that, in theory, is okay because it’s a class mechanic i would still love for rezz-skills to be viable choices again.
If we ever get a better shroud, with useable utility slots in shroud they should rework spectral skills to grant you heal while in shroud and life force while outside of the shroud.
Aside from that i think the necro actually does what he’s supposed to.
I like my necro, the only thing i’d like to really see is more buffs and conditions on and from PvE mobs so that his corruptions and condi-management makes more sense.

Are they still doing this? I don’t know be cause I always log in during new episodes. But imagine you are a new player, you pay a whopping 50€ for this expansion and then they want 200 gems per episode. WTF? That’s just horrible marketing, with this you make your customers angry. No wonder they fare worse and worse. Remove this horrible restriction and give it for free. I can’t imagine new customers will have understanding for this. (200 gems are quite a lot of gold as a new player btw).
They give it for free for quite a while.
And, you won’t believe this i guess, they have to make money one way or the other, so saying: Hey you can get this either logging in or later on with some gems, is quite fair.
It’s even more fair, yes, it is, because you can get gems via ingame gold, other games would tell you to pay with cash right out.
Also, a new payer, as in someone who just started his account has no bsiness in the new aeas or story anyway.
