But those are balance issues.
Sure, you have mandatory lines, but it’s not like that is new, you had those before.

Warriors we’re expected to use Traits X/Y/Z just as much as they are now.

The ideal solution would be to spread some stuff out (like condi counter traits on some classes) or balance alternatives to each other better.
Also to make it so that you can’t spec a core mechanic line (Soul Reaping, Illusions, whatnot) with an elite-spec line because those keep messing up the balance too as it is, essentially, a duo class-system.

All in all i still like the current system more, sure it needs more balance and expansion but it is a solid foundation.

It seems to me that people still don’t understand that choice is actually something good.

Having limitations and to choose what you get out of it actually makes builds stronger in the long run because you have to account for weaknesses.
Yes, this also goes for the current trait system, in the long run it is better than what we started out with because we have limitations but also choices that matter.

Basically an Ele in your team seems to be required to play necro. And then the kitten messages that you receive from team mates if you die as a necro xD. Losses always blamed on the necro. Pathetic state of the game.

If players blame the necro for getting focused/killed it’s not the game that’s in a sorry state, it’s the community.

Returning player here.. whats the diff between outfits and armor?

Armor pieces, like helmet, gloves, trousers etc. can be mixed at will

An Outfit is a set that is just there.
You can dye it but that’s it. There is no other way to personalize it.

Honestly i see no problem with this and we got some armor sets with HoT, we’ll probably get new ones with the next expansion and we had single armor pieces with each new LS Area.

If you’re duo queuing with a lower ranked player, stop. You win less points than solo queuing and lose more points. I was duo queuing with a rank silver player today – lost 18 rating, won 6. Terrible. Queue with people your rating.

Doesn’t that go without saying?

If you queue with someone who’s lower in rating it could be seen as match manipulation, of course you would get harsher punishment for losing and less reward for winning.

My personal advice to your question would be this: Try building on each others strengths.

What i rarely see at the moment are AoE buff Counters for example, you rarely see projectile counters as well.

Both things available to a necromancer.

A Guardian has a good amount of team support that can counter a lot of pressure.
As a DH he could try to build on damage with some support thrown in via traps and some other utility skills.

The ultimate question is what you want to achieve with your duo-Queue.

They want people to experiment trying different parts of the game. Same thing with pve dailies. I usually just do the easiest pve daily (usually a vista) to complete the daily completionist.

Most likely this.

While it is a nice thought they shouldn’t activate this for ranked.
Most of the time it leads to an unneccessary bigger pool of one or two professions and a lot of frustration because class stacking.

Oi, i never bothered with guides either yet at the moment i feel very powerful against most DH’s in point fights.

Guides aren’t the be all end all for everything in every game.

Who cares about your ability or inability to kill DH? I don’t even care if temmates cannot kill them or kill them fast enough; guides and some basic sanity is needed for understanting the situation in the game and on the map; like rotation and stuff like that. It is much more important imho.

My point is that guides are not needed.
They can help, they are an option, but not everyone needs a guide to understand basic stuff about a very simple game or gamemode.

Instead of complaining about your lack of viability why not figure out what you can do to stay alive. The meta necro build is cool and all but the skills you actually need to survive aren’t in there so think critically and test out different things.

While i applaud your comment and way more people should think this way i don’t see it coming.

We need a counter-meta, something where people think: Okay, this is “viable” at the moment but where are it’s weaknesses, how can i use those for my advantage.

But the fact that every player even asking simple questions in any part of the game is straight forward shown the way to a guide and told: “This is how you play” goes completely against that.

The community just doesn’t promote critical thinking.

The biggest mistakes Anet did is by allowing under lvl 80 in pvp to join ranked and adding ascended set as reward for new currency. now those newbies are bringing others down.

About them PvE players tho – they are usually easily recognizable. Pve-titles, pve-pets on rangers, pve builds overall (like staff ele and some crazy poop like axe-axe warrior). The main problem is that so-called “players” don’t even want to learn – they never bothered with guides, builds and at least basic training; I bet 99.99% of them are terrible in PvE too and cannot do raids because golem dps check is too complicated and bothersome.

So it is not even “hate”, I just simply despise that low-effort, brain-dead joke of a players.

Question is there anything in the match making to not let games like this happen?

I can post a few of these, i dont have the map kitten but i have a screen print of I playing ele and us having 3 DH’s and 1 switched to warrior and the 2 other DHs were bunker DHs.

Its not even me, i play ele for support if the team needs or i can play warrior.

Yet im getting 3 necros, 3dhs 3 thieves on my team and a majority of time none of them will switch.

That would be class stacking and the mentality to switch ones character can hardly be boiled down in an algorhythm.
It’s a player issue, sadly.

Quite honestly i see Dragons Watch as more of a guild than Destinys Edge. Partly because we see the beginnings, in which we still are.
The guild hasn’t even recruited everyone as it stands and yet the ones that are try to fullfill a role.
Marjory, while she may have a personal goal behind it voluntered after we said that we can’t simply have an eye on Lazarus at all times.
We don’t quite know what Kasmeer is up to at the moment.
Rytlock is probably facing some kind of charr Inquisition since his absence as well as his “new” powers are causing a lot of valid questions.
And Braham, while he is acting like a child, is in, from my viewpoint, understandable grief about the loss of his formerly estranged mother.

There is a lot going on and it probably will only be truly resolved in the next expansion.

This is just straight out insulting. It is your very balancing team that brought classes to the state that thief can’t do much w/o decent team not to mention class stacking leads to every team having 2-4 DHs/wars. Why should players be punished for poor decisions made by developers?

While i see class stacking as a gigantic issue, at the Moment DH, Reaper and Berserker are in so many matches because almost every player plays them.
This wouldn’t be solved with class stacking removed though.
If 10 players are in a queue and 8 out of those 10 play DH, what would removing class stacking solve in that scenario?

And again, this is not against removing class stacking, i would love that, but at the same time we need a gigantic balance patch to rework and rebalance a lot of things for the core classes, the elite specs, a lot of weapon skills etc.
And then if and when we see a more diverse spread of classes played we actually can remove class stacking.

It would result in a longer q for those clases and therefore allow other classes a faster q.

This rises the total number of other classes, because they can play more games in the same time.

At the same time it makes overpowered classes managable – because there is just one

I know what removing class stacking in general would do.

But the current situation, well… “current” it’s been like this since HoT came out, just doesn’t suggest it would go over so smoothly if it was implemented suddenly.
Especially since hyperbole incoming the WHOLE playerbase seems to be obsessed with the best, most awesomest meta-build they can find.

Also i think that there are other things that would keep an ideal situation to occur with this: We need a huge balance patch so that everything feels like it’s on even footing with drawbacks and rewards to certain playstyles.
Class dailies should be removed (shouldn’t be a thing in ranked but even with the, in my opinion, way better quality of rounds we still see people aiming for them).

And even THEN people would still gravitate to easier builds and few classes out of what we have available, worst case they’d even start complaining that the class they want to join as would take longer to get into a round than others.

Hell, even in games that have systems to prevent class stacking, let’s say a hero selection at the start of a round, you see people salty about not being able to play their character of choice and, yes, throwing rounds because of it.

Again, i’m not against the removal of class stacking.
After some of my rounds i’d love it if a “balanced” party was guaranteed.
I just don’t see it working out that well as things are.

Addendum: Biggest issue in any regard, by the way, is the horrid mentality of the playerbase.

Transmutation/Skins still disappointing

To chuck my opinion into the cacophony: I use transmutes regularly – my method tends to be using a spare character slot on something running around the cities. Sometimes I’ll level a character (doing area map completion) and cross fingers for a transmute (or a key. Usually if I want a key, I’ll get transmutes, and vice versa). This is rather time consuming, however. But I sometimes have fun, and sometimes it feels like a mini-grind I can’t be bothered with. I have no real solutions to this, however, it is what it is. If I really want them on the fly, and if I have the cash, I buy the transmutes with real money or gold. I’m sure I’d be open to more creative ways of acquiring transmutes, but I have the dumb today and cannot think of any. :/

What it comes down to for me is this: I don’t mind the crafted skins and whatnot requiring transmutes, or that I jump through a few (occasionally boring) hoops to get them. What gets my goat is stuff bought from the gem shop with real cash requiring them as well. That’s something that doesn’t sit particularly well – you spend 700 on the glider combo, and all bar one of your chars that want the backpiece have to transmute it. You buy the ear muffs, or are addicted to the scarf (for example) – you’ve already paid for it (either through time invested in the game or with real cash), it sucks to have to do it over and over again. I propose any armour piece purchased in that manner should remain free to transmute – similar to an outfit bought from the gem shop being free to apply every time,ditto HoM stuff, Zenith weapons, etc. – these items represent investment in the game(s) in the same way (cash or time or both). The armour pieces should be no different.

This is something i can get behind.

Make the gemstore skins switchable without charges.

Why A New Race Is Highly Possible [Merged]

Tengu would be most likely with least retcon, and most awesome obviously.

It’s ANets fault that they designed races in a way that you can’t race change and stuff, same reason they won’t add new races. Have to make a 1-80 story for it.

It is expansion material, but they’re too busy designing annoying vertical maps with unconventional traveling methods, because ‘different’.

We have TWO, TWO vertical maps. Why are people so hungover on that?

And they aren’t even complicated: Oh no, i maybe have to do more than press autorun and 1 every now and then.

Jesus Christ, i remember a time when things like a new approach to map design and traveling in a game would have been praised.
But no, it’s inconvenient to you because you have to think for a change or invest some time that you can still spend playing like usual.

On the topic at Hand:
It is unlikely a new race will come.
I would love it though, but i also would love it if the Living Stories wouldn’t add only Lvl 80 content but new zones for people to go into when leveling as well.
The map still has a lot of space and not everything needs to be filled with stuff for the “endgame” but maybe some harder areas inbetween for people to learn something about later mechanics etc. .

I honestly think this glyph is still good.
Just with everyone playing Tempest, who, more or less, has these effects on his F1-F4 you don’t have to equip it anymore.

Now if the core ele would be stronger, or tempest a bit weaker, and we’d see both used, maybe the glyph would come back.

Agreeing with pyrocyborg and TheAngryDuckling here, better Balance would be way more helpful than a new Queue.
And with the last patch we saw them take that route slowly, so let’s just hope for the best.

By the way: Playing a core necro so far has been very good for me, the build i play puts a lot of pressure on DH from what i can tell, and there are way too many in each round, and often has lead to a point where the enemies where outpressured.

A couple weeks ago someone made a post about just making sword a condition weapon. I like sword as a power weapon. But I think a trait that made it a condition weapon would be cool. More options is always better.

Aside from the obvious damage buff it needs to be better, I would change the third attack. if the target doesn’t have a boon it does more damage. If the target has a boon, it will strip it and do a little less damage. I would make the difference in damage when a boon is stripped a heal. So whenever it strips a boon it also heals. But that should be a trait also. I think that would be a cool option. maybe make all boonstrips heal a little.

And if you would indulge me a little more. I’d actually make a trait so instead of boonstrip, the third attack transfers a condition. With a trait also, for options.

I’d honestly make scepter a melee weapon instead.

And mesmer can immob with his 3 as well, sure it doesn’t last long but long enough for your 2 to come through.

I don’t really get how this is that much worse, especially considering that you’d ideally would use it as a burst weapon, get in, do your stuff, swap set, get out.

I dunno… did this fight solo a few weeks ago and everything worked out.
Hell, i did it as a mesmer and it was just fine, not even sure how someone spends multiple hours on this.
It was… dunno.. 30 minutes? 40 tops and even that probably because i was solo.

Yes, and every player also has the option to ignore switching it and believe it or not, many will do so.

Classstacking is an issue, especially when you try to provide balanced games and even more so when you look at all the powercreep that’s still in the game.

I’m honestly in favor of this, rounds with one class representative each would be far more entertaining and offer a lot more challenge.
Yes, this would also mean switching out should not be an option or had to be changed in quite a way (like not joining as a class that’s already on your team and so on).

I couldn’t agree more with these criticisms of the new maps. Player behavior on those maps is enormously different than on other maps, and much of it is pretty bad behavior driven by both the drive to harvest map currency nodes and the ridiculous difficulty of the foes.

This is especially evident in Bitterfrost, where many are running around ignoring fights and hoping someone else has attracted all the aggro so they can dash in, harvest, and run away. If that unlucky soul gets overwhelmed and dies, tough. They can just wp and run back, because trying to rez them risks getting jumped by the rapid respawns and slows you up from getting to the next node. (Even those who participate in fights that someone is struggling with will often stop to harvest first before joining in. Priorities!) This is really annoying when the aggro consists of some pack of three or more regular foes plus a tough vet, with the possibility of several other foes spawning close by and joining the fight, with players running in with a train of aggro behind them that also piles on.

I find myself doing just enough events on one of these maps to satisfy the dailies plus unlock some hearts to buy more map currency, then harvesting all I can reach, and then bailing out of the map to rinse and repeat with the other two maps. Once I’ve achieved my goals for ascended trinkets for all of my characters, I don’t expect to go back to those maps ever again unless the future story requires my return for a bit.

Where are those difficicult foes you speak of?
I honestly want to see those.

nobody cares what you think balance should be based on. anet have obviously decided that elites should be better. so get your head out of the sand & start living in the real world.

It did, i’m still playing the game, heck i’m even enjoying some of the elite specs, but that doesn’t mean i have to like the approach they took with it.

Patch notes:

Infinite PvP Rank Progression
PvP Ranks are no longer capped at 80. This number will now increment on both the in-game HUD as well as the character-select screen.
Players will be retroactively awarded rank-ups for every time they’ve repeated rank 80.

So my question is where are those? I was rank 189 after patch and got no rewards whatsoever but then I thought that maybe they will give them like the WvW ones, giving one more with every rank up until you have no rewards missing… But now I just got to rank 190 and only had just one regular rank up reward. Is it bugged or something?

It was just a number change. You had your rewards when you ranked up in the past, now the number just represents the point you had gotten to anyway.

Everything is in order.

I think the OP wants Endure Pain to prevent capture point contribution. If it did, I think you would have to give them immunity to control effects to compromise. No thanks.

But Endure Pain isn’t complete immunity to “all” effects. You still suffer from conditions as well as lifesteal on hit, etc, which Obsidian Flesh, from what i remember at least, negates too.

Isn’t grind self perceived?

Because i don’t feel like the zones are forcing me to grind oô

Y’all act like this is a brand new thing to the mmo universe. How about other games where you have to gain 10 levels to get to the endgame maps and join your friends? How about in this game where new chars have to gain 80 levels to reach where their friends are playing at endgame? In this game you need to level Mastery lines. It’s the equivalent of gaining levels without having to also completely re-gear your chars.

One thing i want to Point out though:

While it still isn’t prefect in toning down lvl 80 characters i can still join my friend while he’s leveling his character up so he’s not really excluded, if anything, playing with others will help him learn more about the game.
