I somewhat disagree with Woodenpotatoes’ assertion that the addition of campaigns killed activity in older areas, or made them ‘ghost towns’. It was not that extreme.

Prophecies came out in 2005. Factions NF and EoTN were all out by 2007. There was a period of a couple of years, until around 2009, where all 4 land masses were fairly active. Then people started to condense in EoTN and the elite dungeons of the other 3.

But remember, that’s 2009. They had gone 2 years without any major releases because Anet was working full bore on GW2 at this point.

That is still very impressive, but the GW1 games were a very impressive series. They took 5 long years and turned out a very impressive game in GW2. It is time to go back to the expansion model.

I’ve been saying this since release. It took a year for factions; 6 months for Nightfall. If they theoretically start on expansion now. We probably won’t see anything until ~2015

Which is why they should have started as soon and GW2 went gold.

That attack is really cool. It sucks you in, if you haven’t noticed.

It seems like it should do more damage though. It barely hurts at all.

Am I to assume “adds” refers to either stacks or difficulty?

Adds refers to additional enemies. Your teammates were referring to the holographic pirates.

The Clockheart occasionally puts up an energy shield which makes it immune to damage. The only way to remove it is to make a holographic pirate explode near it. The explosion removes the shield.

What was probably happening was that your illusions were getting the attention of the holographs and your teammates were unable to get them near the boss.

There is nothing wrong with mesmers. We had one in our group and did fine. I suggest that you avoid using clones during the fight. If you are attentive and quick, you can probably use clones, just be sure that you blow them up when someone is trying to drag a holograph over.

Timewarp is really strong vs this boss. Mesmers are fine.

I really enjoyed it. If I could say what most explorable paths in GW2 lack, in a word, I would say scope. MF, AR and now Twilight Assault are showing the level of scope that I first envisioned in the dungeons of GW2 back when they first released that teaser trailer years ago. It is clear that they put more production time into this and it was worth it. I would like to see Anet push the boundaries even further in future releases.

Twilight Assault is also more balanced and polished than AR and MF were, which had some really rough parts to them.

If I could give only one major critique, it would be in the theme of the combat puzzles. There was a lot of emphasis on aggro management. The fire room, Slick and Sparki, and the Clockheart were all about aggro management. The preoccupation was in dragging mobs into the right spot all the time. While not a bad mechanic, if overdone it can get tiresome, especially when the AI can sometimes be finicky.

I would like to see more focus on deadly combat mechanics in future releases. Only the Foreman fight was really 100% about combat. I liked all of his skills, though his whirl could be doing more damage.

I realize some people did not like it, and I do think there is valuable feedback in that, but I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. This is a big step in the right direction.

These need to be hotfixed, the final boss is basically impossible. I even had an ANET employee in my group and he basically had to go because we couldn’t kill it in time.

Well I guess they are around somewhat. I just got my Mel video infracted( I thought it was funny xD).

But that was probably from the NCsoft office in Austin, which has no Anet developers. 9am there. Something like this will probably need programmers to look at it(Seattle). So about two more hours until they start rolling in.

The only part of any dungeon we’ve ever had hardcore lag in, is the evolved Destroyer in COE. (and that’s b/c they sucked at optimizing lava particles)

Lag rarely comes from the environment, it’s almost always from too many other player Entities with their own Particle effects. So his specs should be trivial in most cases for any 5-man dungeon.

I do get much better performance in dungeons than the open world. Even on high settings it’s not bad, unless there are a lot of mobs.

I don’t think the new dungeon will be “easy mode” but it will probably give very specific team comps less favor.

errr… what’s wrong with using a smoke field that you can blast yourself?

You have vuln stacking, decent DPS, stealth and reflects in a 5-engi party, what makes it so difficult?

Because the turret doesn’t stealth and most spiders would be outside of blind range = turretownage.

Plus nades break stealth, which you seem to keep forgetting.

Rubi was there, she just wasn’t on camera. Watch any of the Live Streams, they all have this issue. Talking while playing isn’t easy. It’s like giving an oral presentation while playing a challenging new dungeon at the same time.

I think the ones with Josh and his pilot and Hugh and Jessica were good. Crystal did pretty well for being alone but still would have benefited from a wingman.

I think 5 very good bunker engineers can do it(not by using flame turrets, haha) but it would be very difficult. Way too much more difficult than war/guard/mes than is appropriate to Anet’s design philosophy.

It is a little funny how the people who cry NONERF seem to be wrong about simple game mechanics. Not pointing specifically at you, but just a general thing I notice.

Guardians, mesmers, rangers, engineers, thieves and elementalists have projectile absorption/reflects.

Warriors don’t but you only need one for banners anyway.

Warriors actually do, but it is not optimal. That is how I helped get a team through once, which did not have any reflects, and someone left after they got stuck on the boss.

Better to zerk and let the Guardian and Mes chain reflects + timewarp.

2) The thieves are maintaining 100% stealth, that is why they aren’t getting agro. Not because they are using AoE

How are 5 engineers going to maintain 100% stealth while nading?

No offense, but I think you need to learn more about the game before you get all smarmy.

Maybe 5 tank engies can beat it, I’m not saying they can’t. But neither you nor Anet know how easy it would be, because neither have tested it.

I believe they exclusively used AOEs so that the spiders wouldn’t spawn.Grenade auto is an AOE right? Easy. Also, the thieves were naked.

You appear to be confusing the fight with something else. The spiders WILL spawn despite AoEs.

That’s the problem with theorycraft. ^.^

There’s a video of 3 thieves killing the boss with shortbow AOE, so 5 bunker engis is fine and perfectly doable.

If the boss is a problem, fix the issue of the spiders resetting, don’t destroy the entire path.

The entire path, including most explorable paths in the game, is of low production quality and really does not do the game justice. They are full of design shortcuts, reused assets, corners cut and general jankyness.

They simply did not invest the time they needed into the dungeons. AR, MF have clearly had more effort put in them and it shows(though they still needed some polish). I think they will do the same wih TA.

Besides, what if it’s 5 bunker engineers? It is against their stated design philosophy for them to not be able to do it.

Granted, when the content comes out, it doesn’t always turn out that way but it is not intentional on their part. They still espouse this philosophy. Production deadlines are clearly screwing them though, so we sometimes get finicky content.

If he wanted dungeon master badly enough he’d pay for it.

Instead, he thinks remotely challenging content should be removed because it forces you to use more than a single brain cell.

Well Anet listened to overwhelming feedback and nuked it. So there.

Most explorable paths have really low production quality anyway, due to obviously being rushed at the end of the development cycle, and should be replaced.

AR, MF and, seemingly, TA look to be closer to the AAA level of production that GW2 deserves.

Too easy as long as you have 2 guardians chain spamming stability boons…

…Too hard if you have any other mix of classes that are generally considered unwanted in dungeons = necro/ranger/engie/etc… …or ones that just make it progressively HARDER the more of them there b/c they’re really redundant: Ele/Thief/Necro

Reflect skills but yeah your point is still valid.

Guardian/Mes/Wars is the best combo for this.

They could fix that easily, just have webs go up around the door when she agros, then she’d be still pretty easy, but not ridiculously so.

I have actually never been able to fight her inside her room because people always want to exploit and I don’t want to be that guy. So I have no idea how easy it would be. -.-

Fyonna is one of the most interesting and unique villains we have in GW2, and her winning is one of the best scenes in the entire game.
