So large enough (100+ people) guilds will probably have Teq Saturday Event where they will be in control and be able to kill it Which will be good enough to have Teq declared a “success” (“we managed to reduce inflow of yellows from easy-to-kill dragon, yay!”). Regular players will ignore it and move to some other less frustrating content

Yeah but 100+ guilds existed before TQ and they didn’t rally to kill the Karka Queen(which really only takes 20-30). Guilds like that could easily kill KQ in less than 10 minutes, you would think.

It doesn’t go that way though. The reality is that it is very difficult to herd that many cats, even for super-guilds. TQ has hype now because it is brand new. Hype always dies down. After that, the event’s scalability is in question.

I’ve only given up at it atm because I need flawless defense, and the majority of turret defenders I’ve seen seem to be fairly…stupid. They’ll aim for one mob but ignore the other, they won’t immediately come back onto defense the second Teq lands due to the laser (leading to multiple turrets being destroyed), they won’t heal the turrets, etc. There’s only so much a guy can take. :/

That’s funny because many people have flawless defense but never killed TQ due to a bug.

Sad part? This event will die soon.

Karka Queen has been dead for 4 months. I wouldn’t get your hopes up. They are already working on the next content update. No time to reflect and refine with this 2 week schedule.

Good points though. +1’ed

I’ve noticed that during the Tequatl attack along with Risen there are some uncorrupted Kraits attacking turrets and batteries. Weren’t Risen enemies of every race of Tyria? Why are Krait attacking along with them?

There are risen Krait, which is probably what they meant to put there. It is likely just an oversight.

It can be alleviated somewhat if people within the zerg chain condition cleansing AOEs like null field, well of power, and (in the future) purging flames. It might be easier this way too as every time the zerg abruptly changes direction, someone will get left behind, and you also risk confusing the turret users as to the precise location of things. The view is extremely messy at front, and the turret cleanser aoe is very small.

Regular condition cleanse doesn’t help against the finger pools. That is a straight damage tick, not a condition.

In our defense, the only thing we lack is survivability (Zerk gear’s major stat is Power), so if we play our cards right, we can still damage Tequatl without dying.
If that fails, defending the turrets is always an option.

You actually get more damage from pvt builds because several professions can convert vitality or toughness to power. Also there are potions that do the same.

Yeah. That is where dynamic scaling should come in.

We did the Golem earlier with only 10 people and it was fine. People died, but it was fine. :P

I can’t imagine having the base scaling set at 80 players will work out in the long run.

They got past 50% which is honestly better than most attempts. But there were a few things they did differently than , for example, the successful BG video.

One problem was taking time out to kill fingers, whereas on BG they did not waste precious dps time doing that and rather chained Guardian walls as well as standing in one spot for easier turret cleanses, followed up with zerg-rezzing downed players. If you are not spread out killing fingers, you are automatically in position to rez downed players.

Another thing that I did not see was the massive use of Ice Bows and FGS, which seem really key to maximizing dps and were probably a secret to BG’s success.

The were a few things she could have done herself to maximize her own dps:

  • Use both power potion and food. She did not have either
  • Use OP heal sig for being downed less and better dps uptime
  • Instead of crit-zerker, she should have run Pvt and use the warrior trait that converts toughness to power for maximum possible attack rating. TQ can not be crit, though the minions can, but it is not worth it imo.
  • Work up 25 stacks of bloodlust while waiting. (But don’t get downed lol)

I know that is just for one person but if 200 people optimize as such it can make a big difference.

I was wondering if anyone had a handle on this? And if so, how they know. I have heard several numbers thrown around.

I believe from BG’s first kill that it is at least 130 because that was how many they had on their TS. Likely there were at least some who weren’t.

I am thinking maybe a round number like 150 or 200 but was looking to be more accurate. Anyone have anything to share on this? What was the most you had your voice server?

Also, expansions don’t guarantee fun. There used to be a time when games didn’t have expansions or updates at all. You got what you paid for on the spot. If you have been playing for a year then I don’t see why anyone would be complaining.

If you are waiting a year for something good to come from this game…. well think about it.

This needs its own response as it comes up often. I am a huge fan of Anet and their games. I look forward to their releases. I played their first game, Prophecies, as well as many of the games they worked on when their founders were employed at Blizzard(warcraft, starcraft ect).

I hope to see their company expand upon the the GW franchise

  • 1 year from the release of Prophecies(GW1) was Factions
  • Only 6 months from the release of Factions was Nightfall
  • 10 months after the release of Nightfall was EoTN
  • 5 long years after EoTN was GW2 (but it was worth it)

Also they added a full dungeon(SF) and a lot of quality of life improvements between Proph and Factions. So it wasn’t like that 1 year stretch was devoid of support. There were more events and QoL improvements between the other releases as well. Plus several decent free content additions after EoTN, called Guild Wars Beyond.

This is how I became a fan of Anet. There has always been something awesome to look forward too, even if we had to wait. And it was good quality stuff.

The problem is that now with this 2 week schedule, there are so many bugs, balance issues and production short-cuts being taken. Can you really say the franchise has moved forward in the past year as much as it did in the year between Prophecies and Factions?

The living story content only sucks if you don’t give a crap about the lore. So far after I am done with the current LS I can’t wait to see what the next one brings.

Well IMO it’s been hit and miss and the batting average has not been good lately especially with this week’s update. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one. :\

I play the game because it is fun. I like to role-play in an MMO"RPG" since you know this game is an RPG. The loot and other rewards are just the cherry on the top.

That’s a good outlook.

But some of us have been playing this game for a year and have done everything.

Expansions are not coming, we have only the LW updates to look forward to, supported by the cash shop.

If the LW updates will not be good, then… frankly that sucks. :\

DON'T NERF

Lucky.9421

Rofl it’s like people never played hard content before, too many people crying about nerf.
They clearly state that it’s going be to really hard, and people expect to kill it 1rst day, i rofl. This kind of content is meant for people willing to spend a lot of time learning and working together to complete a single objective, killing a world boss. And yes, i know people will say the old “omg but pug no listen and with pug cant do, pls nerf”. I see this all the time rofl. Killing Teq is an awesome achievement, but everyone killing Teq is going be as cool as finishing one of your daily objectives. Anet please don’t give in to all the people asking for a nerf, because it’s going to be the same repeated cycle of hard content nerf, easy content complain…

(Any early EQ/EQ2 player will most likely agree, because contested mob raiding was probably 5 times harder than this)

I will see you at a TQ spawn in 1 month’s time. We shall have a blast defeating him together. ^.^

in Tequatl Rising

You will need at least 80 because that is where the scaling starts at I believe. however you will probably need close to 150+ in order to actually beat him.

Yeah they said it was meant for a minimum of 80 but I would be surprised if that few can do it. Even banking on 80 to show up will be asking for a lot, 2 weeks later.
