TA F/U path is being removed

in Twilight Assault

Lucky.9421

Already did it, quite a few months ago, so I don’t even remember it. I don’t usually redo any of the dungeons, except AC and thats only when its daily (either story or explorable). Arah (all paths) is the only dungeon I haven’t done yet.

Arah has some interesting fights, but could be refined.

The end of F/U has these spiders that shoot poison blobs a the rate of a machine gun. I am convinced that the attack rate is some kind of bug because it looks ridiculous and does a hilariously out of character amount of damage.

People used to deal with it by simply not aggroing them and it was ridiculously easy, but there was update some months ago that changed their aggro(but not their attack rate). Now people chain reflects and zerker it down, but if you don’t have the right party for it, it will be hard.

To it being cut, I say:

To much emphasis on trash mobs?

in Twilight Assault

Posted by: Lucky.9421

Lucky.9421

Yeah I would prefer the dungeons be just puzzle rooms and boss fights. Open world has plenty of trash mobs.

Keep it short and sweet.

PS – OR if that makes the content too condensed, just have each trash mob be regulars with some one or two veterans thrown in. Instead of an mix of silvers and bronzes(not the same as vets).

Leif did pretty well, but was a little nervous. One idea that might help with that, as well enrich the viewer’s experience, is if the devs don’t do these videos alone.

It would be good to have a another person as a wingman, a la the gaming website giantbomb. It would give them someone to play off of instead of just talking to a cam. One could read questions while the other plays, too.

Spoj you can hit the Wizard while he is walking back into position to shoot projectiles(after charging around).

PS – I agree the Wizard needs more refinement. IMO vulnerability time should be a little longer. Sparks should have better silhouettes.

This article, written by Ree Soesbee, was released around the time GW2 was announced(6 years ago!) to give fans an idea of the setting in the next game. I highly recommend that you check it out if you are an avid GW fan.

To me it sets up a rather epic story arc. I and many other fans waited eagerly for 5 years to see how it would develop.

And here we are…

I am not a fan of this bi-weekly randomness. Let’s have an actual story arc.

Just kill Scarlet and be done with it please.

I can always get up in 5 am before work log in and take a screen of empty event to prove some point on forum.

Ignoring everything else wrong with this post, which others have pointed out. Some people also work night shifts or are Europeans on US servers because they wanted to be with their guilds/friends from GW1, or whatever. Not everyone can play during primetime. It is somewhat selfish to think the game should not be for them.

Its also not true that it has never happend, i remember of countless time i did shatterer with 2-3 other persons, or jormag with ~10. It can happend and it does.

The fact that those two dragons can be done with smaller numbers is the reason they remain popular. They can also be made more challenging without having a high base health scale. They could be given more deadly attacks, like TQ was. In fact, if they made TQ’s health scale more to lower numbers, they can get away with making his attacks even more deadly than they are now. I have never gone down vs TQ(not even on the first day) and I am not the most amazing player.

Side note: The few dedicated TQ slaying guilds are already showing signs of “had RL stuff to do lately”

To start, for every screenshot of an empty sparkfly with just Tequatl, there’s one of a full zone that fights him.

When people beat it they are more likely to take screens, as apposed to the masses who just don’t show up. Anet has the ability to measure activity on their end, so they know this anyway whether you agree or not. Their silence is deafening.

Also, I am speaking of the speed to which it has died. I have been playing Anet games, and their content updates, on release day since 2005. Yes this is the fastest abandonment of anything they have made. Period.

It is kind of pointless to argue over this right now, especially since Anet has the metrics anyway. What matters is that now, after KQ and TQ, Anet gets the feedback they need to address the issues that they are having with boss design.

For the sake of future content.

Well the skeletons we fought in gw1 were part of the undead orrians made from the cataclysm weren’t they? So I assume that by now they’ve all been killed or destroyed. I don’t think any undead besides ghosts form on their own right, and they only necromancer I can think of that would be strong enough to make an arm of skeletons would be Palawa Joko.

People who say the event will die out is really missing the point.
After a couple months, they just need to release a new material for precursor crafting, to be dropped by revamped dragon champions only, and they will secure the continued prosperity of these events. It’s really not rocket science.

It needs to scale from 5-200 IMO. Map cap appears to be at least 200. 50 is too high.

Egzactly, tequatl should be possible to beat with 5 persons on turrets alone, not even 6. ROFL

There are two events in this game that have a base scale higher than 5, KQ and TQ.

Tequati Was Supposed To Be Hard

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Lucky.9421

Lucky.9421

They played it for years because they were the only places to obtain shards and ecto, which were necessary for FoW armor, and sold really well. The same could be said of DoA…people were after the gems to get the armbraces to get the weapons, all of which could be sold lucratively. The Deep and Urgoz were ‘elite’ content, but until the revamps, were essentially dead, and even after, still didn’t see the traffic the other 3 places did. Why? The rewards sold for little to nothing.

Deep and Urgoz were still played often by medium/large sized alliances. For a long while(many months), until the market was was saturated with celestials and NF had come out, there were even people pugging it. Later it was dead for pugs but guilds still did it, all the way up to GW2’s release. I know our alliance did.

But Deep/Urgoz only needed 12 people. This was somewhat reasonable, but still hard. Other dungeons needed 8. More reasonable, but still somewhat hard.

Now along comes TQ with its 200 player req to blow everything away from a logistical standpoint. It’s blowing away the time-to-deadness record too. No surprise.

The main reason they went with 5 man instances and base 5 scaling for metas in GW2, years ago, was because 5 works for more guilds. At first it outraged a few GW1 players on the forums but others, including myself, saw it as a smart move.

That was years ago though and the Anet of back then was not the Anet of today.

Anybody who has played another game which I cant mention the title and fought the Glimmerking alongside 300 other players knows, it turned into a once a month event, and it was instanced and always available, the problem there was sharing 20 rewards with300 people. (Last time I kill Glimmerking, we didit with 8 people)

I’ve not played this game, but you imply that Glimmerking can be killed with 8-300 people. That is markedly different than TQ. You don’t have a prayer with 8 against TQ. You don’t even have a prayer with 80.

There is something significant about that distinction that seems to be lost on the studio’s design leads.

We have something that’s a pretty close equivalent. Right before you fall of a ledge, your character model starts to move downwards but it’s still possible to jump. I’ve always found this to be a very reliable means of getting maximum jump distance.

I never noticed this, thanks. I will test it later.

Still it is not a great situation. I think Anet needs to not be stubborn and design around their technical limitations. Josh said he was aware of this, but felt he needed to let it go in order to make the jumps more challenging. I disagree. Don’t push the limits of what the game engine can handle. It is not worth the widespread rage and inactivity.

This can be as simple and moving or widening their platforms a few feet on World 2(W1 didn’t have many such jumps). SAB would still be fun.

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Lucky.9421

Classic games were great in spite of their technical limitations. SAB is bad in spite of not having technical limitations.

There is a technical limitation that really kills SAB, which they have acknowledged:

The base of the character is not in sync with with the image that players see. This makes many jumps, mostly in world 2, nerve racking because they have to be done while floating on air or with half the character clipping into a block or by slamming facefirst against ledge and teleporting on top.

You always knew exactly where Mario’s feet where. Not having good visual feedback is really damaging to the experience. This is probably not something that can be fixed, but they can design the jumps in ways that would mitigate it.

  • make larger platforms
  • have jumps be slightly closer

I think that would eliminate 90% of the frustration.
