Rainbow phoenix ! I miss my rainbow phoenix from gw

I like GW2, but it’s just SO far away from the original. And not just a technical stand point, even lore stand point, it is a little too far. (I miss my mesmer hexes!)

I love Guild Wars (original) and will always be my favorite game.

The HoM pets for Ranger has been bugged for quite a long time. The White Raven and the Black Widow don’t have the correct attributes (e.g. Widow has less vitality than other spiders)

Also: the Rainbow Jellyfish appears to be the same model as the Blue Jellyfish

The same thing is happening to my ranger who is in HoM outfit (heritage). Getting real annoying

Sadly it took me 27 tries to get the Ventari Tonic, but in my opinion, it was well worth it

Sometimes, I do the exact opposite, I accidentally use portal 2 times on the same spot and all it does it fool people

I’d rather have hexes then Phantasms :P

Sometimes, I get so used to Mass Invis., that I don’t want to replace it with Time Warp, even when I’m in a zerg.

I haven’t removed staff from my weapons ever since I get a white staff from the vendor (when I was level 4 lol)

Sometimes, I like to make Phantasm tanks, my iDefender with Signet of Illusions + Phantasmal Regeneration + 20% HP Phantasm trait.

I don’t get stuck under the ground anymore with Phase Retreat, but I do get stuck INSIDE rocks.

I’ve yet to buy Signet of Midnight, even though I have well over 130 skill points.

I haven’t used the Greatsword until I reached 80 and started WvW, but I left it in my bank now since the iBerserker bugs.

I LOVE the iSwordsman, it’s just that my Sword/Focus(or Pistol) + Staff can’t make room for it. But, I do occasionally play with it while solo in PvE for fun.

I play a human MALE mesmer.

Right before the 12/3 patch came (like literally 3 days before), I tried a shatter build with iDuelist. He attacked INSTANTLY even without the Retaliation/Fury/Regeneration traits. I don’t know about you guys, but this certainly does not feel like 0.25s.

I actually like Trahearne, I thought he was well designed. The only problem is that, after you’re storyline with your mentor is done, it’s all about Trahearne . I hated that they just somehow made MY storyline about some Sylvari wanting to cure Orr. I mean, Guild Wars 2 was mainly about molding YOUR hero, but nope, suddenly it’s all about Trahearne.

Other than that, his character’s pretty great.

P.S.
Kormir, in my opinion was much worse. She was woke up Abaddon, and poof! she had Godly powers. It's not that she became a god that irritated me, it's just that she suddenly forgot about her Sunspears (a.k.a. Palaway Joko started hunting them down)

I’ve tested ALL phantasms, and ALL of them (even iDefender lol) suffer from this delay. There were no exceptions to the delay, and phantasms, such as iWarden, are vulnerable for the first few seconds of their spawn.

I’ve been trying very hard to be optimistic to Mesmer changes, but now, I don’t know if I even want to play my Mesmer (shame, I loved him all through out Guild Wars 2, and he’s my only 80 )

I’ve read most of the forum posts in here, and while I agree with most that we need to be fixed…. I’m tired of seeing all this ‘negativity’

Anyway I hope people will read this and post funny things that happened to or was caused by there mesmer.

I’ll start:

During WvW, some enemies were trying to get back in the tower to defend. Anyway, there was a downed thief like literally 1 inch away from the door and he used that stealth skill on down. I didn’t see him at all to be honest, but since I had Clone on Dodge trait, the clone somehow managed to find the thief and hit him with the sword.

Hexes. Seriously, cut the “living Hex” stuff. I will never see my phantasms be Hexes such as Diversion, Backfire, etc…. Yeah, if you let a phantasm live, it will punish you, but Hexes caused a huge drawback because you did (x).
PS: Who ever says “confusion” is very….. Confusion will never replace hexes such as Diversion, Wastrel’s (worry/demise) etc..

I love the pets in GW2, but in Guild Wars, I wasn’t tied to a pet (unless i wanted to play with my Rainbow Phoenix ). If I didn’t want a pet, I would go disruption (like Broad head arrow), damage (splinter barrage). But in Guild Wars 2, I have a permanent leash to my (horrible/lovely) pet

Would definitely love more skin(fur) options, hair options, (eye/skin) colors, ability to choose to not smile , couple more faces…

As most of you have seen by now, there has been a lot of negative feed back about ascended gear.

If I remember, “infusion” in Guild Wars, was doing a certain side quest in a mission to kill an eildon, giving it to the seer and voila, you have just infused your gear.

How about instead of adding a whole new tier… allow us to do some very trivial (and possibly long but easy) activity to literally insert an infusion slot in already existing armor like our current exotic,rares, and legrndaries. Possibly a dynamic event chain?

I am in total disagreement with ascended gear, but will I be quitting because of it? No. To be honest, I’ll probably be getting the gear like most to enjoy new content.
I don’t like the idea of making ascended armor required for Agony.
I don’t like the idea of being locked out of content because I don’t have said gear

I hate it when I have to look for a group, let alone whisper someone for am invitation because I have anxiety with those stuff.
Again, I don’t like it, but I’ll be getting it(although I’ll be late because of said anxiety with )

Yup lol. I don’t mind the coats at all, on the contrary, I love a few of them (especially tier 2 Human).
But variety is always good!
Lots of coats + few “non” coats = good
Lots of coats + Lots of “non” coats = better

Edit: actually tier 2 Human is my favorite set, even though my main is Mesmer and my ranger is only 37 lol

What happens when new players join or very causal players for that matter, they don’t have much in the way of gear.

new player:- LFG new dungeon.

existing player invites them

new player :- hi guys.

Existing player:- you got your Ascended Gear?

New player:- Nope

( new player kicked)

New player Kittened off and has to spam for hours trying to get a group to actually get some Ascended Gear to get groups quicker.

Elitism is not an issue in GW2 currently and it is a good reason many play.

Stuff like this promotes it.

I played a GW1 ranger from day 1.

Personally, female rangers needed more with the coat. Male rangers too. Let’s look at just the male non-coat sets:

Fur lined looked terrible.
Drake Scale had clipping issues in the pants.
Studded Leather had clipping issues in the pants.
Canthan was just ugly.
Kurzick was ugly.
Luxon was actually quite nice, IMO.
Sunspear clipped on so many pieces my eyes almost fell out.
Vabbian had a dye error.
Primeval was ugly and clipped.
Asuran clipped in the pants, and was just a new Drakescale.
Obsidian clipped.

Now, on the coat sets, they all clipped, and quite a few looked bad. But yeah, kind of what you get.

Now, there’s plenty of ranger armor without coats. I’ll name them, just for fun:

Duelist, Studded, Human Cultural Tier 1, Vigil, Norn Cultural Tier 2, Sylvari Cultural Tier 2, Sylvari Cultural Tier 3.

Now, that’s 7 of the ~35 sets of medium armor I had quick access to look at, but there’s likely a couple more.

That’s why you could mix armor

Take out the bad, put in the good!

I would LOVE the Storm Bow and Chaos to be back, like you suggested. They were one of the most iconic weapons of Guild Wars, next to the Fiery Dragon Sword!

Would also love these skins to be in:
Kepkhet’s Refuge skin
Dead Sword (Could have been an Orrian sword :P )
Celestial Weapons please!!
Zodiac weapons

Seriously, I don’t farm Plinx event, but sometimes it pops up while I’m finding gatherables.

Anyway, whenever I do Plinx, half of the time, the target is already dead before iBerserker, Mirror Blade, (clone) Mind Wrack hit.
If I get lucky, iBerserker hits a lot of mobs and I get loot, but, as stated earlier, that’s like half the time.

Hopefully, a buff to P/P. I just recently made a Thief, to see what counters what first handed. Love most of the weapons, but P/P makes my Thief look real nice (although, gameplay wise, that’s another story)

I agree raiding is not needed in Guild Wars.
I read a very interesting post somewhere in these forums and it went like this:
“WoW players always want to put WoW content in games, yet they complain it’s another WoW clone and leave.”

If you wanted better drops, then suggest an increase in drops for Chests in X(place)

I have a Rampager set with me (because it was cheaper than Berserkers) and I don’t regret it. I use it as my damage set, but currently I’m building an extra set for toughness and vitality.

It’s the same for all invisibility, and its a bug tied to the engine. Not your graphics card

Note that during that 1-2 seconds of “extended” invisibility, you can still target the thief using the tab button.

Not QQing or anything, but most of the time, whenever I get hit by Backstab , it takes more then 1~2seconds for me to actually see the Thief. Luckily, my Mesmer is no glass cannon and can survive an initial Backstab.

Is this a bug, intentional or just my computer graphics?
I wonder if it’s the same for the Mesmer stealths too?

I have slight feeling that the choice that doesn’t really affect your Personal Story Line as of now, like Which god (Human), Which Spirit of Wild (Norn), Which Teacher (Asuran), Which cycle (Sylvari), Which partner (Charr, but they do help in some storyline missions I think), will make a difference in home Instances some time later

To be honest, when they first released the Mesmer pre-views, I thought they would be like this. It actually surprised me that others could see my clones/phantasms when the game released

Thief lasted me a good while, because they’re a little like the Mesmer.

Time Warp 3(you)vs5 is still better, if you know how to place it. Also it gives you another combo Field.
3vs5 Mass Invisibility could give you the upper hand in escaping, or sneak attack (like through use of Portals, along with invisibility)
Moa, hmm…. It can get dodged, but incapacitates a target’s ability to “fight back.” This would make it 3vs4, if you land it.

I’ve tried to love Moa Morph, I really did,I’ve tried it at it’s high(est) potentials, and was still overpowered by Time Warp at most situations.

On the contrary, I’ve been seeing more yellows myself. But that’s just me being lucky

Moa is only OP against idiots who stand there and eat up attacks like Pringles. Maybe I’m a super noob, but I like the group invisibility the most. I love having an extra stealth ability, and the cooldown on it isn’t that bad.

you must be very pro if you can dodge the morph in 20 vs 20 or 100 vs 100 in wvw , how ever once you are morphed you are dead, but no you must predict that an lvl 30 mesmer will come and target you, and you become useless for 10 seconds.

I think it was a fun story quest. I did it on my first try without getting downed even once..

they didn’t change it. it’s just the new gameplay way of representing hexes. there isn’t a lore to it.

and illusions are hardly pets. they’re meant to be disposable, single target “things” that serve the purpose of causing various types of damage and condition under various effects, as well as shield the mesmer from attacks true dissuasion. and that’s not even talking about shatters.

Still, I am trying to find that one statement where, Mesmers changed from Hexes to Visual Representations, Lore Wise . I’m pretty sure I read somewhere around the Lore Forums that Mesmers just had to do that. And that’s what I’m trying to find.

Also, is it just me, or is your tone slightly condescending on how you type. I know how Mesmers work in Guild Wars, and GW2, and there is a huge difference between Phantasms (besides Phantasmal Mage) and Hexes. I’ve played Guild Wars, Mesmer for 7 years +, and have my Mesmer in GW2 as a main, and they are like apples vs oranges.

In the original Guild Wars, there were spells known as a “Hex Spell” which would make malign effects on the character.
But apparently lore-wise (I’m not entirely sure, I only read this and haven’t seen any evidence), it says that Mesmers switched from Hexes to Clones/Phantasms (and Confusion) because of the diversity of races.
Just want to know what happened to hexes, because in Guild Wars, my Mesmer, Necro and even Monk was more than happy to put a hex on a Moa/Charr/Norn/Plants/Skales/etc…

I do know that most Mesmer(and some Necro) hexes were merged to make confusion -game wise-

Also, can someone find me the link to where they stated that Mesmers switched from Hexes to Phantasms, I read it from someone, I think 2 months ago and it’s killing me that it’s a doubt

if two EDs were fighting, i can assure you the pact would watch it from a safe distance, then hunt down the one that survived.

Was picturing more like, the Pact is trying to kill an Elder Dragon, but suddenly a loud roar is heard, and just when the Pact is about to lose (like there’s a cinematic where you’re character is near death sort of), another Elder Dragon swoops in and starts to battle out the other ED because there in their territory or something lol

i’m 99.9% sure that the whole pact force in the vincinity (as well as anything that exists) would be wiped out of existence the moment the two dragons clashed.

if you want an idea of the aftermath, look at the desolation, where abbadon and the other 5 gods fought.

Would be fun though, they could get 2 Dragons down quicker and would (maybe) speed the path to Cantha/Elona

Also, not arguing, but that’s Abbadon vs 5 other deities.
edit: When Zhaitan was weakened to the point that he was in the mercy of your cannon, (I assume) that some Air Ships were completely destroyed, but Arah sure wasn’t. The 2 dragons could just be weakened like Zhaitan.

Not to flame or hate or anything really, but I’m pretty sure Gods vs Dragons have little or no connection at all.
Also, the “Pale Tree: Melandru” part almost made me not want to read the rest of your post.
Again, not hating or anything, but people really need to stop connecting the Elder Dragons with everything.
I’m almost positive that Anet has said something like, The Elder Dragons aren’t everything.

Not everything is related to the Elder Dragons. Kuunavang could just be a very power Saltspray Dragon.

You too? LOL I sure do miss those hexes. Love the clones, hate the idea of having phantasms as “Living Hexes”

Also, another important thing to note in Guild Wars, there are such things as Secondary Proffesion and some of the Proffessions are much different in Guild Wars then those in Guild Wars 2 (Such as Rangers, Mesmers, Ritualists, Dervish, Paragon, Monk, Necros and maybe even Eles)

I bought Guild Wars (and it’s expansions/separate campaigns) when they were $40(EoTN), and $50-$70(separate expansions). I can tell you, it’s one of the best things I bought in my whole life.

Every time there would be a new game out (such as Aion, Lineage, CoH:Rogue, PW, etc…) I would get bored of it, and would ALWAYS fall back to Guild Wars.

It’s lasted me for 6(?) years now, and even now, I still play it when my Mesmer in Guild Wars 2 just doesn’t feel….. Mesmer-ish in the original Guild Wars.

The game should be very cheap now, and was a lot of fun for me. It’s just too bad that when Guild Wars 2 released, it took a lot of Guild Wars players, making most areas (and PvP arenas) scarce.

Maybe I’m a little biased too, but Guild Wars was (and still is to me) the best game I’ve ever had.
