I’m usually typing on my phone
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
That stuff also features oneshotting chaos storm and oneshotting instant winds of chaos. Mesmer we lost that day :<
That’s not Winds of Chaos, that’s Chaos Strike. I think Winds of Chaos was like a #2 skill before it was changed to auto attack.
Basically, Chaos strike damaged and gave Burn/Vuln/Bleed like WoC but was not a projectile and I don’t think it gave boons.
But who cares, I was more interested in that stranger Phase Retreat.
On topic, I feel very pressured to take Veil, and sometimes I play on my Guardian just so I’m not locked on certain utilities… ahem (Portal, Null Field, Veil)…..
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
“Bring back the items we love from GW1!”
“Quit retexturing GW1 items and make something original!”
You know, there are biweekly content updates. Plenty of time to see BOTH.
Well this was a HoM weapon. What we wanted was a GW1 weapon OUTSIDE the HoM skins.
CoH’s (RIP) character customization was pretty detailed as well.
AHHHH THE NOSTALGIA, I’m shivering! They also had Power Colors
If I described both Fractals to a child, they’d easily choose Abaddon. That’s how simple this really should be.
That explains why the support for Evon has been so fervent. :P
Oh you’re so funny. /clap
…
I’d also like to point out that the Bonus Mission Pack in GW1 was one of the most brilliant things that Arena ever gave us. I enjoyed it thoroughly, as did many others. It brought us back to important times in history we had only previously heard about, but never saw anything for. In addition I found the gameplay pretty fun. If the retelling of events past was not criticized back then, why is it now?
Because we weren’t forced to choose 1 or the other. With the BMP, we could freely decide which one to play with, while having the option to play the others.
With what we have right now we do, Abaddon OR Thaumanova.
With the BMP we could do, Togo and Ossa and Gwen and Saul D’Alessio.
Honestly, if we could get both fractals, that would me me very happy.
Edit: And yes, I do agree that the BMP is probably one of the best inventions Anet tossed at us. I mean more lore, good history, AND Nice skins with max stat weapons? Who DOESN’T want that?
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
You guys make it seem like Thaumanova is boring and Abaddon is the “it” for the fractal.
With statements such as;
“Who want’s to see another Inquest sabatoge mission scheme?” to degrade the Thaumanova fractal.
Well I can do the exact same thing in reverse.
“Who wants to see a loser god go to downed state?”
“Who wants to see the very fabric of reality twist, turn and bend?”
See which one is more epic just because of wordplay?
….
The truth is, anyone for Thaumanova will go do the “This area can rip the very fabric of reality!”
Meanwhile, Abaddon supporters will go “It’s 6 gods fighting one, and we will be part of it!”
Honestly, as a Kiel supporter and someone who has been fighting Abaddon for years in GW1, I would like to explore the unknown past of Thaumanova. Also, I think the fabric of reality is much more interesting than a fight with a god.
So really, can we stop with the “boring Inquest scheme” and the “boring and weak god” conversation? We all know your wordplay and opinion can make either sound epic and dull.
Also on a side note; Who said it was Inquests that sabatoged Thaumanova? It could be an entirely different faction for all we know…
This is annoying now….
Ahem….
FRACTAL
Ahem….
Fractals are based on inaccurate past events.
As for Abaddon, I fought his minions in 3 GW Campaigns! Lich-Titans , Shiro-Shiro’ken, and Demons-Abaddon-Varesh. Enough with him!
I run a Phantasm build for my Mesmer in PvE, and I can usually get credit while helping downed/defeated players back up, since Phantasms do the damage for me.
I almost always try to help anyone that is downed but there are some exceptions…
- Sometimes I just feel sadistic, and let the player that is downed go defeated
- Other times, it’s just not safe, and they will have to WP back (Cough, GRENTH)
- I’m just lazy at times / Didn’t have enough coffee
But at times, I get so intensified about ressing people, that I risk my own HP bar for them. Most of the time I survive, but there are times like when a big zerg comes rolling in while I’m 90% finished ressing a fellow person… (and I’m at around 25% hp…). That happens more often than I can think!
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
I guess, I too am used to the “fighting”~esque games. I remember double tapping the controls on a PS2/3 controller to “dash” and it stuck with me in the computers.
Even though I use my keyboard almost entirely for my skills and movement, I only use my mouse for camera turns.
My “V” key uses Utility skill #2. And I have no other keys to put in for a simple dodge. (I could do SHIFT + V, as I am used to that, but I figured who cares, I’ll be taping 2 keys still anyway)
And yes, I do Jumping Puzzles with Double tap on.
Sorry but you ruined some of the best skills in GW1 and the most INFAMOUS being…
SMITER’S BOON
You are not forgiven!
This really made me go clicking nightmare and spend my 300 tickets to Kiel.
I agree, the problem with Feedback for me, is that it randomly pulls me in the middle of the enemy zerg.
I thought they fixed this when they made some pulls unblockable like Necromancer’s “Spectral Grasp” but apparently left some out.
I remember one time, I died, but my Feedback was still active, so as I lay there, my dead body is suddenly pulled in the middle of the zerg.
The chinese trailer really made me think of how “epic” and dynamic GW2 is compared to other games.
I mean, people are so used to combo fields and movement in GW2, that they don’t take a second glance at it.
I chose karma.
It’s always nice to have a little extra. Also, there is a WvW merchant who trades gold weapons for 30-38k (?) karma. If I ever have extra, I usually just buy 1 sword for ~35k karma and buy 3 other swords from the TP and hope use the Mystic Forge. But I never have extra.
Currently, I’m stockpiling Karma for any future updates. It’s easy to spend karma in one sitting, but once you’ve spent it all, it takes some time to regain it.
I think it’s because Guardians have seen a number of buffs the past updates.
A lot of people like (good) shiny new things, and buffs are one of them. (The guardian is also a shiny good thing )
It’s a lot like the Necromancer buff, and when a lot of people made Necro’s to see how good they were with the new changes.
Personally, I think they are not worth it. (Well, except for female light… I guess)
Most of my characters are male (humans) and they get….
Another trench coat (leather)
Another skirt (light)
- Everybody starting at the same place is just stupid.
- The headshot shouldn’t even be in the game, imo.
- Being a ghost is fun but collecting the balls before being able to do anything is stupid. Especially since other ghosts can still them from you. That’s about where I am with this.
I think the event could be fun. But I would change this whole thing in a few ways: Spread people out at the beginning. Don’t allow access to the whole island, even Southsun is far too large for the number of players (but at least it’s not all of Metrica Province like Hunger Royale was). And give the ghosts 5 or so powerups when they die.
In several cases I found people when I was a ghost. I could follow them, but do nothing — no ghost nibbles nearby to find, so… fun? Watch them run around and wait until they die?
In many cases I died right at the beginning, ran up to the fire and half-scavenged something and then poof! Dead. No idea how someone else could have scavenged something in the same time and have time to shoot at me.
The very first time I join a game, it’s often in progress. Like Sanctum Sprint. In both cases, it’s a nearly guaranteed loss. First time in the game, I got to read “Instructions” (really not much more than just that word) and then I was dead because I had spawned right in front of someone with ammo. Thanks! That was great.
But after the initial kitten fest, I almost never found anyone alive. Usually hunger would kill me. Once, I found someone but the arrow shot was obstructed by a grain of sand on the beach, and another shot was out of range due to it being nearly melee… but then I died of hunger before the other player could even shoot me. That’s pretty much the extend of the interaction I’ve had.
Oh well. Other things to do in game, at least.
You we’re probably one of the unlucky 2 that got hit by the pistol. Pistol is an almost instant 1hit KO. It also has 2 bullets (which is why I said 2).
I always grab it first and hit 2 people with it so I can steal rations, but I end up dying anyway because I think it’s fun being a ghost.
On a different note: I think Ghosts should get 1 charge every 5-10s (?)
I don’t know anymore. You guys have retconned so many things from GW1, that the lore itself is almost shaky.
On a side note: It seems that anything “connected” to Cantha (that is found by the playerbase) is automatically turned down and disproven by developers. Anti-Cantha much? lol
Actually, I think the karka sucks.
If they manage to get rations and go on a particular area where the Karka is bugged, it won’t do anything. Even if you summon 3 karkas, the survivor will live (unless they run out of rations).
If you think the Karka is bad, imagine my playtime in the (very fun) Mad King Labrynth! Now THAT place was the fear inducing game!
Did you forget this is a FRACTAL?
All of them are inaccurately based on past events. You certainly will not be getting some of the answers you asked in this thread!
Same goes for Thaumanova!
im asking for it to be included in the make overs some are getting, not take priority. i honestly don’t care which others are lacking, as they aren’t the one i use. if i/people cared about seldom used magic weapons, and i actually had one, i would be tooting a different horn.
That sounded like a horribly selfish statement(s).
Diversion is actually really great.
I hardly see any mesmers do this, but I “spread” out my clones so that they chain daze the target. I meant, not as far as to explode in the next second, but far enough to disable the person for a measly 2seconds (potential to be 3, but that’s pretty rough)
Also, if you have IP and Mirror Images, a quick MI + Distortion grants 3 seconds of invuln. Along with Decoy, you can easily make the enemies lose track of you.
Confused me a little…. Buffs? To mesmers?? What???
But the buff to Signet of Domination is pretty…. weird…
Why buff that skill? I’m left clueless…
No love for the SUPER PUNISHING gw1 mesmer skills like Shame, Guilt, Mistrust and Diversion (gw1) ? :P
Mistrust: Next time enemy uses a skill besides Auto-attack, enemies nearby take (x) damage. (ends after 6 seconds)
Guilt: Next time foe uses a skill that targets a your allies [besides auto attack], 5 enemies nearby are (dazed?) and lose a boon. (ends after 6 seconds)
Shame: Next time foe uses a skill besides auto-attack, the skill takes an additional (10-20) seconds to recharge. (ends after 6 seconds)
…. oh and let their screens tint a little like DS, but with a fuchsia color so they know they have those on
Oh let the trolling mesmer begin!
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
I use the Krytan Sword skin (lol) as a Berserker’s sword. It’s one of the most “rapier~ish” sword I’ve seen ingame, so I thought it would match. I have 4 other swords, for different builds, but most of them use the Fiery Dragon Sword.
I’m trying to get Bolt, but Anet had stated they wanted new Legendaries, so I might hold off.
For GS, I use the Fellblade, or the Zenith. Depending on build again. Not really a fan of GS.
Focus, either the Anomaly or my AC focus. AC is my PTV while Anomaly is Berserker’s.
Staff, either AC staff or SAB. SAB for condition, AC for general use.
Torch, the Zenith one was really nice. I used to have the verdant one, as it resembled a flower and reminded me of the “Rose” focus we had in GW1.
Scepter, either Emberglow (the long flame scepter) or my HoM one. They both look really cool in my opinion.
Pistol, Illya. I mean it’s one of our most Mesmer~y weapons in the game. It’s even named after one of the human twin goddesses! I play on making another Illya if we ever get dual pistols, because Lyss is very expensive compared to Illya.
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
I think the word “roamer” has the negative connotation.
“Roamers” can vary into Scouts, Yak Killers, Camp/Tower/Sentry attacks & defense.
However, there are those “roamers” that just go out to find fresh kills. Mostly look forward to kill uplevels, undergeard’s, or less skilled players.
I hardly care for WvW Server ranks, but what really is the point in killing my (up)leveled 30 Warrior who is in full greens?
I don’t like them. I got the Radiant ones thinking it would be pretty small and give an angelic twist with my Dwayna gloves from HoM, but NOPE!
They are these huge literal mountains on your shoulder. Even when I was trying clothes on for my Heavy classes, they still were the largest piece of the set! Mind you, I was even trying on the t3 Human heavy armor!
I’ve fought enough of Margonites, Demons, Titans, undead Liches, Shiro’ken, and even an Envoy in my time playing GW1 ( and I still play it regularly to add that!).
Basically, as a GW1 veteran, I’m tired of Abaddon. Proph, Factions and Nightfall all eventually tied into this “god”. Can I have something a little different?
I know neither Kiel or Evon will bring this, but how about the mystery of the Mursaat? What ever happened to them? Do they have a city?
Arrrrghhh…. instead they focus on worn out Lore (Abaddon) or a new thing all together!!
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
Still haven’t solved the GW1 Factions Main theme … arrrrghhh lol
Anyway here’s the first part.
1 2 3 6 4 3 4 1 ….. 1 2 3 6 4 3 1 ( I think) Hold when you need to
Trahearn – God of things not ending well
Trahearne, God of moving on.
Trahearne God of commander can I have a moment.
Trahearne, God of Clarwrrrrrr Island
As much as I love GW1 Lore and the game itself, I vote Kiel.
They’ll probably retcon a whole bunch of things in the Abaddon’s Fall anyway, and boom goes the Lore I once knew.
I’d rather experience something we don’t have a lot of prior knowledge to. That way, no retcons and a different story.
Honestly, as a HUGE HUGE HUGE GW1 Fan who somewhat finds some GW2 content disappointing…
I’d rather get the Thaumonova Explosion.
I mean, I don’t find it exciting to go through a Fractals on which the god was absorbed by the likes of (shudders) Kormir
Ha! Look at Empathy. It beats my whole GW2 mesmer skill bar :P
Very nice! Wish we could choose, but beggars can’t be choosers It’s still free
Love mine! Wanted the Wind one but got the Lightning one instead. Its free though, so I’m happy!
I’m not even level 80 (only level 60), but my necro does wonders in WvW.
Usually I use Well of Suffering for tagging purposes and it helps with the heavy amount of Vulnerability I’ve just given to the enemies.
My Utilities go:
Spectral Wall
Spectral Walk <~> Well of Corruption/Power
Well of Suffering <~> Well of Corruption/Power/Darkness for blinds
Most of the time though, I run with my Guild Zerg and they require good support as they severely lack necro’s. They don’t notice it, but aside from the mesmer (which they are also lacking in, and is coincidentally my main), we have the power to massively strip enemy boons AND add a condition.
The only bad thing with Corruption/Power vs Null Field is that it takes 2 utility, but Power also grants boons for Conditions. I say it’s worth it!
Spectral Walk is only useful to me when I need swiftness (and it looks really cool while riding the broom on spectral walk) or I want to be in DS for much longer (I only pop it for Life Transfer and the new skill, then immediately get out)
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
They are fun ! but nope!
In fact, I dread almost every update now, since they intend on destroying my main (mesmer)
I log in because of WvW, my goal for a legendary (actually, I think the Living Story might be slowing down my pathway for my first legendary) and because this game is the successor of my favorite game GW1
It all started when….
Cue Halloween:
Now that Zhaitan was dead, the “Commander” was ready to have fun in Halloween.Halloween (re) introduced players to the Mad King Thorn. This ended with the destruction of the Lion’s Arch fountain.
Cue Lost Shores
The death of Zhaitan allowed the discovery of an unknown and dangerous island, now known as Southsun Cove. As Consortium begin to irritate the Karka, they retaliate. A lot of people don’t know this (because they ignored the Lost Shores update), but Lionguard Ellen Kiel was introduced at this update. She instructed you to solve the scavenger hunt, on the lore and story of the Karka. As the Karka become more irrate, they begin attacking Tyrian coasts, including Caledon Forest, and even the Wizard’s Tower town.
The Karka were pushed back and out of Lion’s Arch, and Southsun Cove was made available. This involved exploration of the new island, and thus lead players to what is known as the “Karka Hive.” This is where players defeated and killed the Ancient Karka.
Cue Wintersday:
With this finally slowing down, I guess the player character took a break for the Wintersday festival. (I will skip this) I think this was also when the Lion’s Arch fountain was finally restored, through player donations of Lionguard Lyns.
Cue F&F Series:
After a good time in Wintersday, settlers and refugees have been “kicked” from their homes. Players were assigned to assist the refugees on their way.
Soon after, portals and assaults of the now known “Molten Alliance” begin attacking Norn and Charr lands. Player characters help Rox and Braham through missions.
The F&F series melds with the Super Adventure Box, because the box was meant for children refugees to be entertained.
Finally, after a couple pushes and shoves to the Molten Alliance, we attack their base known as the “Molten Facility.” The Molten Alliance is broken, yet refugees still need places to go to.
Cue Secret of Southsun/Last Stand:
The Consortium decides to take advantage of some of the refugees and offers them a contract on the Island. Refugees are infuriated with said contract, as harsh conditions and rampaging monsters infest Southsun.
It is revealed that Canach, a sylvari who worked with the Consortium in the Lost Shores, used aggravating agents to make local fauna incredibly aggressive. We are also reintroduced to Lionguard Ellen Kiel. We stop Canach with the help of Kiel and an upcoming festival finally eases tension between the refugees and the Consortium.
Cue The Dragon Bash/Sky Pirates of Tyria:
With the festival, citizens of Lion’s Arch (including said refugees prior to the DB, specifically those from F&F and Southsun) have a great time. This gives players a little lore of the Canthan party known as the “Dragon Festival”
A new kind of technology is introduced. It is known as holograms. These holograms proved very intriguing and useful.
The Effigy ceremony finally signaled the near end of the Dragon Bash. During one of the ceremonies, a new type of Pirates known as the Aetherblades attack. Some of the council members of LA are seriously injured. With the help of Marjory, we track down the suspect, Mai Trin. Finally, we help Ellen Kiel in the Aetherblade retreat.
And now we’re here! The Bazaar of the Four Winds! Woohooo!!
Introduction of the Zephyr Sanctum and the Bazaar attract curious minds of Tyria and they visit the Marketplace.
Foreshadows of the sky pirates, the Aetherblades, seem to be attacking the Zephyr Sanctum.
And that is how this story is very deep and is very connected
P.S. Yes I typed ALL that out, but to be fair, I’m also waiting to flip my TP items
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
You want a real analogy with the bicycle race? People performed some race that nobody else cares about several years ago and because of it are being given a head start in a totally different one at present day.
INC angry mob….
So, what you’re saying is GW1 is totally irrelevant to the development of GW2? Also, according to you, nobody else cares about GW1, past and present.
I guess that explains why Kamadan is full of players who particularly despise GW2
If you ask me, those who got 50/50 didn’t get what they should be rewarded. I mean a title [Champion of the Gods], that most people will probably ignore and complain that it’s blocking their screen.
Mind you, I do not have 50/50. Maximizing HoM is probably one of the most dedicated grinds in a game requiring almost a years worth (more or less) of pure dedication. Next to asian~esque gear grinds, even my 40/50 was incredibly grindy
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
only 3 Level 80’s Thief, Ranger, and Mesmer (Mesmer being my Main, Thief is secondary main, and Ranger is sadly in my storage until they become a bit more fun to play and the nerf rampage halts a bit)
I do have a lot of characters though, around ~8 (7 of them are human) that around the level range of 20-40.
There’s one I’d DEFINITELY want to tone down…
It’s the one near the crafting area of Divinity’s Reach with the annoying children.
“ROOAAAARRRR”
“[Screams]”
“[very ANNOYING childish laugh]”
And this played almost every minute while I was crafting! I literally wanted to go outside and hit a child!
Other than that, I’d like to actually here a couple more NPC discussions.
Here’s the thing though, most Gaming forums are usually visited when they have …
a) A problem, usually a bug or glitch. Contacting support or visiting the Bugs! forum can help.
b) Distaste of a particular content. Usually in Living Story/General. Sometimes the posters manage to make a coherent post, with points backing up their claims.
c) General whining/troll. Forums and Trolls always go hand in hand. Sadly GW2Forums does not have a block list. Whining usually originates on “General”, “Profession” and “SPvP/WvW.” These are the topics that say “Southsun is so bad!”, “The (X-Profession) is so OP, please NURF!”, and the “You’re WvW Server is bad, and you should feel bad!” type of threads/post.
It’s very rare to have threads about actually thanking the team.
Maybe it’s because, we as humans, tend to point out more of the negative than the positive.
I always try to complete mine an hour or 2 before the clock ticks.
Or, if I know I have work the following day, I get it done the previous day.
Please!!! I know I sound bland and boring, but just a regular (present day) T- Shirt! Or even a hoodie, with …. you know… sleeves?
This would make me real happy!!
I’d literally pay $10 for each
(edited by LumAnth.5124)
Kiel.
I feel very sorry for her. She has the burden of guild about a Councilman’s death on her shoulders. Also, she has tried her best to grasp control of Southsun, Dragon Bash, and the Aetherblades.
What has Evon done? Make the BLTC (which is very useful) and gotten rich off of many gambler’s desires into luck boxes.
For me, even if other people think Kiel is pretty boring ( I think she’s really molded out to be honest)
Compassion > Greed
Personally, I think it’s better to mix armor stats than to be an “All in one” gear.
Take for example, I wear berserker’s set gear, but I wear different trinkets according to best survivability. Such as Valkyrie for damage + Vit. Clerics for tough + Healing. Or even PVT trinkets.
Other than WvW with my guild, yes I play alone.
I’m even afraid of gw2lfg because I don’t want to insulted at for being ignorant about A dungeon ( I’ve been wanting to do Arah but my ignorance causes my fear in people, so I don’t do it ).
The only dungeon I’m confident in is Caudecus Manor. Sometimes AC but since the change, I haven’t been so confident (yes the change that was like 5 months ago)
I am in a big BIG guild though, and constantly have 20+ people on. Mostly in WvW but the others are in dungeons like in CoF and Arah. I hardly type on /guild too, only answering when someone asks a question I know.
I’ve supported the development of gw2 since 2007! Way before the hype and even the dragon logo.
Oh? You gave them a substantial amount of money? You wrote some GW2 code? Or did you just talk about a game that would eventually exist, if its development fit into the company’s business plan?
Most GW1 veterans just played a game and got what they paid for. They did not put a single dime more into the development of GW2 (which is a completely new product, in business terms) than everyone else who bought GW2.
ANet had the brilliant idea to launch the new product with a link to the old one so their existing customers would most likely transition over to the new product, making the new product much more likely a success, yes.
But this does in no way mean that the GW1 player achieved anything more than a non-GW1 player in GW2. And since those are achievement points, they should only be some measure of how much someone achieved in GW2 compared to other players in GW2 – all other “returning customer bonuses”, like skins, titles, etc. are independent of those points.
And if ANet wants to hand out some more presents (items, gold, boosts), well, by all means give everyone with HoM achievements an appropriate chest by mail containing those presents, but keep the points out of it!
Are you normally this spiteful or just buthurt that you got knocked off the leaderboard list.
Your venomous attitude has got to stop.
Maybe you didn’t read the part where I said I could care less about AP and would gladly trade it for some other GW1 skin
Best minis in game by a looooong margin!
Ehhh, to each their own. For me, nothing’s come close to the adorable simplicity of the Rockfur Rakitten .
Lol censored rakcoon.
I love my little rockfur too, but spooky ghost is my favorite.
On topic; the quaggans are huge and are a lot bigger than the Christmas ones. Well worth the gems if you some
Should be able to choose the color of eye brows. I suggested this in the silent and dead “suggestions” forums
GS matches the mesmer almost perfectly (if it had been a little pinkish, that would match shatter effects) and it looks great with Spatial Surge….
But I took the staff. I have a Necro and Ele as my “main alts” while my Ranger and Thief are my “secondary mains.” 3 classes (staff) > 2 classes (GS).
Plus I thought every Guardian and their Warrior friends would have the GS. Don’t wanna be a clone while I summon other clones!
So you want to slap every gw1 veteran in the face?
Do you know how much I supported pre-release gw2?
I’ve supported the development of gw2 since 2007! Way before the hype and even the dragon logo.
I’ve told everyone I have known about this “awesome upcoming game” in a bunch of other mmo’s from 2007-2012 release. These mmo’s included CoH (rip ), Launch of Aion-2012 Aion, and many others.
To me, these rewards weren’t worth it, but I could care less.
I would gladly trade these AP for other skins like my Rainbow Phoenix or my mini Kunnavang and my Chaos Gloves
