The Mini Lord Faren (non-southsun) has also received a…. change…
Faren is my favorite NPC, but wow the mini Faren is ultra tan with glaring, frightening eyes.
I even compared my Southsun Faren to the Mini Lord Faren and there definitely is a drastic change.

I’m not thanking them yet. Call me pessimistic, but they said the same things last time and delivered it unfulfilled.
Last time they promised the Illusionary Elasticity buff, warden fix, and a big list of the bugs they were going to fix but failed to deliver. I’m sure they will “forget” to do some things in this same patch
Edit:
I’m sure they’ll also manage to mess up and completely bug a totally random skill, just like their “floater issue” back then with iZerker.
That or they do some tool tip “bug fixing”

Mesmers have a tough life in WvW. I’ve stopped actively going to WvW because my Mesmer wasn’t really rewarded for what I did and, well…. My guild left Guild Wars 2 for another game.
Mesmers are very rare in WvW now, even more rare the really skilled ones that know how to follow directions, place proper portals and use veil nicely.
I remember (do loot bags still give everyone little jiggles in their tummy?), there were several guardians in my guild that used to do nightly WvW ‘raids’ and would constantly complain of filled bags and excessive loot, and I would just stand there, staring at 4 loot bags that I got from a blurred frenzy and my still empty bag.
And don’t say feedback works as a tagging skill. It only really works on lowbies and very very unorganized zergs because they like to range. Even the slightlest organized zerg can have a group that composes of 95% melee / ground targeted AoE. The only thing feedback will be giving you is a small tiny loot bag from an unfortunate, random Ranger up level.

Well, to be fair, your original post consisted of mostly proposing to nerf Deceptive Evasion with no other suggestions of buffing other aspects of the Mesmer.
I can see where you’re going, but a nerf to DE can absolutely wreck a shatter build. Shatter, in my opinion, is already requires a high amount of skill to be effective in the (PvP) meta tight now. Thieves do what shatter Mesmers do better, with higher mobility an survivability. I can only think of 1 thing the Mesmer can do better then a thief, boon ripping (maybe) . But this is going off topic.
I understand why this thread is on fire, and why it’s getting hate. Perhaps change the original post to at least resemble a proposal of a buff?

I am (was?) an avid defender of the Guild Wars franchise [Except Anets constant choice to nerf Mesmers]. I love the game, the combat, the graphics, almost everything.
But I’m getting a but weary myself of this little by little stance they have taken with the game.
GW2 has the potential, and a lot of us see it.
Going with the restaurant analogy, it’s as if Guild Wars 2 has all the ingredients it needs to become a 5 star restaurant, but yet they serve the customers little cheeseburgers and fries instead of the more “packed” and “luxurious” options.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to “poop rainbows”
It’s a video game, let the player do what they want. They bought it, they got the legendary, and they apparently have fun shooting rainbows.
You can’t shoot rainbows in real life. You can in this game though. And maybe that is the reason they are playing, who knows.
Also, being able to switch stats on the fly is really convenient. Never will I have to craft newly released ascended stats like Nomad for some of my weapons.
Besides, on my Mesmer, I already have 4 sets of different armor stats, and I would need to use more space had I went for Ascended weapons.

I like some of the legendary skins. In fact, I recently made the Dreamer even though it’s useless in my Ranger and I hardly play a Thief.
My other legendaries I made for convienence really. I hate Bolt, but I made it because stat swapping for my Mesmer is a real blessing to inventory space. Ironically Bolt was the first legendary I made. I also made Sunrise and Bifrost for this reason, but the skins are OK in my opinion.
The legendaries I really do like are Kraitkin, Kamhoali, Dreamer and Meteorologicus.
I can’t get myself to actually make an underwater legendary so I guess my next one will be Meteorologicus.

They really should just make all traits accessible except the Grandmaster traits. It’s horribly tedious to do some of the tasks required for an adept trait sometimes.

I forgot 2 more things to my update list above :
- Deceptive Evasion and Triumphant Distortion have now switched trait spots. Deceptive Evasion is now Grandmaster. Added an internal cool down of 30 seconds per clone.
- Triumphant Distortion now evades instead of causing invulnerability. Reduced Distortion time to 1 second.

Maybe keep the minis account bound but instead of just 1, have the option to choose between 5-10 unique minis?
I kind of suggested this during the 1st anniversary where instead of a queen Jenna we would have a choice between Queen Jenna, Anise, Pale Tree avatar… Etc…
I also remember that one joke recipe of the Mystic Forge:
1 mini Logan Thackeray
1 mini Queen Jenna
1 Bottle of Elonian Wine
1 Hard Wood (log)

- Fixed a bug that caused Phantasmal Defender to have higher health than other phantasms.
- Increased vertical restriction to Portal. Max vertical range is now 300.
- Illusionary Persona now shatters the Mesmer, causing them to go into the defeated state and bypass the downed state.
- Prismatic Understanding now works under the effect of Decoy only.
- Fixed a bug that caused Decoy to activate without a target.
- Corrected the tool tip for Phantasmal Warden; Summons an Illusionary warden that has a chance to activate the attack. [We thought this would match with the Profession characteristic of randomness and misdirection]
-Fixed a bug that caused Phase Retreat to activate without a target.
- Reduced blink to 600 range.
- Illusionary counter now causes 2 seconds of burning instead of Torment.
- Fixed a bug that caused staff clones to cause conditions.
- Fixed a bug that caused Phantasmal Berserker to deal high damage. Floater issue is now working properly.
- Distortion now evades instead of causing invulnerability.
- Lowered Mind Wrack damage by 15%.
- Polymorph Moa has been removed from the game. We have replaced this skill with Polymorph Mesmer: Target turns into a Mesmer and feels the pain of having a Mesmer as their main. Target also received an aura that resembles bugs crawling on their body and their skill icons.

Fantasy and Comic (?) for me.
I was planning on having GW2 and City of Heroes/Villains (R.I.P.) as my last MMO’S I will ever play but that took a turn when CoH shutdown.
GW2 is great but there is a void left where CoH/V was and now I’ve been pretty active in GW1

It kind of gives staff Elementalists an advantage, sort of. I use bifrost for this reason too.
Bifrost makes all staff projectiles the shiny light, including Shockwave (which is usually a huge tunneling…. earthquake thing) which immobilizes and Gust (barely visible, though)

Any profession can solo! My secondary main is a monk, though they are very tedious for solo play (7heroes takes care of the healing I’m suppose to do and smiting is just pathetic except Ray of Judgement)
In fact, melee characters should excel more than their ranged counterparts if you know what your doing with the right build and right heroes.

I definitely think GW1 is worth the money! (I’m really biased though lol)
Playing a Dervish is a bit tricky at first, but you’ll probably catch on fast about ripping enchantments.
Also, you’ll get to see the real Mesmer! Not the magical Pseudo-thief duelist we have here.

This is no where near the level of what GW1 had with elite skill hunting and attribute point quests.
(both of which, in my opinion, were a nuisance, and I don’t understand why people loved it so much, even as a 7 year gw player)
But these traits were horrendously set up. They should have made all adept and master traits free, while Grandmasters should be either bought or earned.

Whenever I’m moa’d I know what to do. Go right back to them and attack them. They don’t expect it and will probably blow a cool down (mainly Decoy lol) , which is funny. [Doesn’t work if you’re being out numbered though]
Also, it’s best not to use it on PvE NPC’s too. Using Moa Morph can give a champion / legendary (purple) mob really really high single target DPS. I use it in PvE rarely actually, just because it’s funny seeing people get downed by a Moa.

All it takes is one simple assumption by the player for instanced story telling to make sense. You recognize that your character is the hero and that other players aren’t in your story. It just takes a very brief suspension of disbelief (so to speak).
The problem is that given that I play a genre which’s distinguishing design element is that a nontrivial amount of other players are constantly around me, this is the one assumption you should not ask me to make.
Spacegoats in WoW? Fine.
Lasertech in my fantasy MMO? Fine.
But being the sole hero in a massive-multiplayer game? I wouldn’t be playing the genre in the first place then, would I?
Well you are the hero.
Technically all the other players besides you are just wandering adventurers. I’ve always seen it as that perspective in any game I play, even City of Heroes where everyone was a Hero.
Also, having an NPC represent the main hero while we sit back will give everyone Kormir / Trahearne memories. Not that I cared for either one of them, I understand that we couldn’t be a God nor the leader of the Pact.

Also, it’s 2 am ish here so I can’t do it until tomorrow sorry.
If you’re looking for a Mesmer-ic staff, use Kasmeer’ if you have. Other than that, I used to use the Caudecus Manor staff or the Ebon Hawke staff before I got the Bifrost.
It’s a shame really, I love my Bifrost but the Tormented staff also looks very Mesmer-y if you have some money to spend

You realize that…
(WvW) Only 1 or 2 Mesmers are needed for WvW. And no one wants to WvW as a utility bot.
(PvP) the only viable spec for Mesmer is being a glassy built shatter. How many counters? Lots. Thieves are a hard counter to Mesmers and are way better roamers. Conditions hard counter shatter Mesmers. AoEs counter shatter Mesmer.
(PvE) Even our PvE builds have been nerfed! Wow! It takes a very spiteful development team to nerf an average PvE build that made Mesmers OK for PvE. So what if we have Time Warpz!12!11!! Mesmer DPS is now so weak it’s better to have another Elementalist, Guardian or Warrior.
Only “noobs” would take a well built and skilled Ranger for granted in PvE or even dungeons. My Ranger ckittene Frost Spirit, Spotter and even Warhorn to help my group.
But don’t worry. The people who don’t play Mesmer will always have an excuse:
BUT U HVAE PORTALZ AND VEJLZ!!1121!1!!

Depends on the build really.
Some Phantasm (even zerker) spec into Inspiration which has some vitality. They can also get away with Mender Purity
Shatter is far more strict. To actually have good and reliable burst, it’s 4/4/0/0/6 or the occasional (but less viable) 2/6/0/0/6 shatter. Also utilities are kind of inelastic.
For PvE I run a phantasm Mesmer, and use a full Berserker set, or if I’m not confident, use mostly berserker armor with some Soldier gear in it (like gloves and boots) followed by full berserker Accessory.
For sPvP, I roll an Elementalist now, but if you really want to be a masochist, a shatter full berserker is always good, but there is no room for putting in some vitality and toughness (zerker amulet does have innate vitality though)
I don’t run any WvW anymore so I can’t help you with that.
Vitality is always useful for Mesmer considering conditions are our weakness unless we spec for it. Toughness doesn’t really go with (anets) philosophy for the Mesmer though because they think our clones would be taking the hits for us.

Kind of agree but titles have always been a part of prestige, even back to GW1.
If it makes you feel any better, I don’t show any of my PvP Champion (Illusionist, Slayer, etc…) and use either Chosen or Closer to the Stars because I love Cantha. Chosen is just a cool name.

11.6k achievements, been here since launch, ~3k hours (idk really)
0 precursor drops
0 mystic forge precursor
But 4 and soon to be 5 legendaries.
Luck isn’t with me, but I’m smart enough to not gamble all of my money on the toilet or hopelessly wait for a randomized drop in not only a precursor, but 1 specific precursor out of the many.
In fact, my luckiest thing is that I got 1 abyss and 1 celestial back to back from the Mystic Forge in 2012 Wintersday. Where the Lost Shores update literally farted precursors, I got Coldsnap.

They were given out for free right after 2012 Halloween ended. Idk where everyone is getting the idea it was from Wintersday…
Idc really if they put it out. More variety to those who want it! But!! Help us petition to make it dyeable if they do make it available again.
Edit for more useless history on the hat:
Right after launch, there was a free gw2 celebration hat. Skip a couple of months and Halloween drops by. GW2 now has a promotion where if you buy the game during x period (before Halloween 2012 happened) you will get an exclusive Wizard hat.
Well the forum posters weren’t happy and they complained, so Anet caved in and we got free wizard hats. They gave it away around the end of Halloween through out like end of December ??
So it wasn’t really a Wintersday hat, just some promotion thing that was supposed to be more exclusive than it is today.

Not to sound rude but…
PU is a dead weight in sPvP, especially with how dependant it is on stealth.
Also, idk what you’re asking. It seems to be a mix of Shatter/PU/Condi/On-Death all rolled into 1 and it sounds like your complaining of a mythical 30/30/30/30/30 build.
No PU condition would have that amount of “burst” or use Sword/x for immobilize burst.
No PU shatter (is this even real? It certainly is non viable) would carry on death traits.
No PU power phantasm would have that staff
No PU condition has that much stuns (they mostly use Scepter/Torch + Staff)
Mesmers are nowhere near prelevant or viable in sPvP. Even when I main a Mesmer, I now PvP as an Elementalist and I literally groan when a Mesmer is in my team for Solo/Team Q

Sad but true.
I’m a main Mesmer since launch and I’ve seen this class just collapse to what it is.
I also used to have my secondary main as my Ranger, and the first “Balance Patch” coincided with Halloween 2012.
They gave Rangers a sign and told them “Don’t worry! We know Ranger is in a bad state but we have buffs incoming!”
A patch later and they became the Aquaman of GW2.
As for Mesmer, they were riddled with bugs since launch, some have been fixed for the better (but taking an extraneous time to fix….)
-World Completion star used to reveal the real Mesmer in sPvP and WvW (took a while to fix, but they decided to disable the star all together)
-Clone names and phantasm names refused to pop up, showing who the obvious Mesmer was (this took a LONG time to fix). Also, players were able to disable certain names, including Clone names.
There’s more but… it’s too long [and painful to remember]

Sadly Domzz, in PvP a Mesmer can be completely obliterated. Trust me on this, the amount of counters Mesmer has is insane in sPvP.
S/D thieves are able to do what Mesmers used to do, with double the efficiency.

Off topic but how exactly does PU Mesmer kill turret emgineers?
I love turret engineers actually. Most expect the turrets to carry them and aren’t exactly well skilled. I used to main a Mesmer but a staff Elementalist can really wreck a turret Engineer. The fault with turrets is that they have little stun breakers.

For example…
