They should change the achievement. Should not require 1000 to kill. Or maybe regular mobs then. Not only that few champs.
Also the champ at Nageling / Diessa Plateau needs a different timer. Leveling there with my new charr thief and it seems too often. Every few minutes again someone telling about giant in chat… after it got killed.
Maybe they really want that champ to appear that often and us to farm it 1000 times? Don’t like it. It is a boring fight. Only ranging it for minutes and minutes until it is death. Or maybe a bit melee and dodging but since he is slow not that interesting.
Mini game where you have to catch bugs is a bit bugged. It is not possible to offer the bug to the cattle. The offer jar skill is not working…
I remember that I tried this months in the past and had no problems there. Seems it is buggy now. I tried standing directly in front of the cow or bull. Or a bit more far away and then aiming to it. Not working and needs a fix. Especially because there is a timelimit. Otherwise impossible to to and getting boring if you can only fill up the bar slowly or need to do other things.
Played a lot of other games the last days because of the sales on Steam and GMG. Now that we are nearing the end of Windersday I have one question:
Are there different rewards from the Blacklion Chests during Wintersday like with Halloween? Chance on getting stuff from Wintersday from them? Or is the Wintersday stuff only from the Wintersday gifts you buy from the gem store?
I’m asking because I have still a few keys from map completion and story rewards and if they was a chance to get different stuff you could only get during this event I would open some of the chests at the last day.
Main problem is that it is too long. At my first try a few days ago we managed to get to wave 6. 2 Dolyaks died early because everyone was new trying to figure out the weapons and defenses stuff. The last ones died because not enough defenses built by that time and Toxx destroying them.
Tried yesterday again and even managed to keep all the 5 Dolyaks alive. Seems people started learning the other few days I did not play. There are a lot of guides…
Toxx is not that random as some said in the beginning. You get aggro especially with the rifle. Everyone should take this and stay far away from the Dolyaks then Toxx will be easiest part.
We built walls around the center and placed lots of catapults(I think I read this in a guide and I started doing this… maybe others read the guide too or they saw how I did it and helpd a bit also they defended more since I was running a lot to gather stuff).
And they managed to use hay to heal. Only a little big damage to the Dolyaks and never really in danger(some people forget to use the hay).
What I also tried: If a lot of materials drop I only carried on(the last one) back to the base and placed the others at the location they dropped nearby. Sure they’ll get destroyed fast but still they are distraction and doing a bit damage or saving time.
But main problem as I said: It is too long. Especially the leaving is a problem since you can get bored easily or just don’t have enough time.
500 from the dungeons. 200 from the chest from Tixx. And 250 from the mail. According to the patch notes they sent the mail to everyone(not checking wether they opened the chest or not) and I thought I would be lucky and get 200 there and it would be 700 vs 900(people that got chest vs. people that did not get the chest).
But they sent 250 in the mail to everybody. If you opened the chest you should have been able to get to 950. Make 3 pets. 200 left. If not then you should have 750 exactly.
Only if you had problems with diminishing returns and they did not solve this seperately through support giving only the people affected by this another cogs reward… + not opened the chest when it still was available. Then you could be lower than 750.
Seems like crap. Good that I opened it in Lion’s Arch. 200 cogs still useless yeah… but maybe at 24th, 25th or 26th there will be a way to get the remaining 50.
And I prefer the skins from the 3 unstable gifts(saves time farming) over pvp finishers.
15 slot bag also is nice to give to one of my other chars.
So what were the sPvP rewards from Tixx? I did not know about this. Only knew about him being in Lion’s Arch because the Mists were not announced and opened it in LA then. Received 200 cogs 15 slot bag item and a back slot item and 3 unstable gifts which gave 1 skin item.
I went from 0 the first 2-3 tries(did not understand it correctly and not read the long description and always pressing buttons way too early) to always a bit more than 500 which was enough for me(very often 1st one). Not trying to get near 600.
And I had complained in the forums a bit too fast too ha ha when I was still at 0.
A few later I had trouble with the easy ones… medium seemed easier. But was really fast that I could stay there for all the 6 until hard. Learning that really fast especially if just try to look at the position of the thing not at the colour. Making something like Gehirn suggested seems nice too.

Not attacking while they have confusion on you… yeah. But then you need either to run away(they are going out of combat and fully regenerating then) or just stand there and try to dodge until confusion is away. And you can’t dodge everything. Still slowly taking damage and then maybe the next confusion will income soon.
Don’t know how they could make them that overpowered ha ha. But still there are a few other days left. Lets see if the other toys are easier or if they increase difficulty even more.
I the last ones will be champs and then 5-6 of them from one gift box ha ha.
Also annoying that they have 4 stacks of boons permanently on them. Lol. Just tried with guardian. Guardian and engineer not good so far. Trying elementalist next.
They are not doing something bannable. Lol. Instead of banning they should just make a 30 seconds timer to kick or something like that of not player input.
Yeah. Killing them fast(if you have AoE and can mangage to attack ranged or go in there and stay alive long enough) seems the best solution since you can’t pull them 1 by 1 anyways. Trying with other classes a bit later.
Only hard thing to to solo are the big gift boxes around the world with that overpowered mobs you need to kill for the monthly achievement. Other stuff seems easy. I don’t like dungeons but I even did the Tixx dungeons. It is nice and not that long and not that hard. Normal veteran mobs. Only the champ a bit harder but only 1 champ and easy to kill with 5 people(some people even solod I read).
I always get 1 wodden skin you can buy from the merchant that sells them for ugly socks and stuff. Have 2 now. 1 of these skins + 2 other items I think green armor stuff my level.
And of course the usual 100 cogs and 250 of one of these other items the first time for killing the boss.
They should fix it for others. Does not seem intended if you do other dungeons that it affecst the special event dungeon.
And of course give the remaining cogs. Maybe write support ticket.
Most imbalanced stuff since release. They should let only 2-3 of them spawn or reduce their damage and hitpoints a lot. Even with 2 people a problem. Toy Ventari were a lot easier and there already a lot of people complained.
Also there should be more melee attacking toys. Should be a mix and not only 1 toy type. Getting ranged by 6 of them is killing you fast especially if you are playing a class that usually tries to kite the mobs a bit… now they are kiting you. Lol. And impossible to pull only 1 of them. They all attack together.
Might try to ask the next group to farm for the achivement in the instanced dungeon. Seems easier to me and you have the group there.
Was okay. Most boring of all the activities and hardest to complete the achievements(because group needs to work together but everyone always running for his own achievements).
But I think we could use that as game mode in sPvP. With our main classes and skills(and hopefully people working better together then… depends on how the dailies are set – at the moment making everyone staying in one capture point to get their dailies when one person there would be enough).
And still need that other DotA-like mode from Halloween.
There are no solo dungeons(even if you can solo some stuff it is not balanced that way and will take much longer and not worth considering the reward). There should be a warning it some dungeon was intened to be played solo instead. ;-)
And yes, as Pochibella mentioned: There was a warning that 5 players were recommended… same for all the other dungeons. Same window appeared.
It is good if you don’t like it. And it is good if you finish stuff fast(like the jumping puzzle). Means you have more time to do other stuff. If it was too hard people would complain that they were “forced” to play the game the whole day. I prefer it this way. If you manage to accept the fact that you can’t have everything of the rare items(because lot of random stuff where you need to buy tons of chests with gems) then it is fun to login to get your achievements and play the activities a bit and enjoy the snow in the cities.
Then still having time to play other games or do other. That is nice.
Another solution would be to let you transform 3 of one pet in another one(+some 4th item to determine which of the other pets you get; item should be easy to obtain). You could still be lucky to get only the ones you need(and still need to get them from chests).
They still will make tons of money. Oh. And make them tradable at last day of event when enough people paid enough money ha ha. Then others can get them cheap and laugh at the ones that paid a lot.
And I thought it was the equipment when I tried them with my low level thief around level 17 that still had some 7-8 level equip(2-3 parts of the armor) and died a lot. Lol. Need to try with my other classes/ chars some time. Still have a lot to do for the achievement.
It means if you have none of that skins(or have some but need at least 1 more of each of them) then you can buy that gift without risk since you won’t get stuff you don’t need(if you need everthing).

I don’t think this will happen. Sorry. Wasn’t there an endless halloween tonic at the halloween event? So they made something similar here and they choose the unbreakable choir for this. They could use something else but then someone else would complain for some reaseon. Better leave it like that and maybe bring other stuff for people to make music some time in the future(maybe give the unbreakable choir a cool graphics animation effect and then add later in the future other ordinary stuff without that to make music).
They should make it possible to get all these 5 minipets without having to buy them with gems. And let them stay account bound.
Other pets should be tradable and then can stay random. There will still a lot of people buy gems for money to get them until prices are getting low and there are still other pets in the game not from windersday.
Or maybe make it again like with the halloween and offer them in a 3 pack where you get them for sure. But then account bound… maybe even more people buying then. Don’t know which would bring more profit.
Of course as it is now it will bring the most profit but people don’t like it… and in long term a lot paying now will stop later since they already payed that much… and maybe not lucky with getting the pets they want if they are random.
But other than that I have to say the Winters day is nice so far. Snowball minigame was a bit boring but the music minigame and the jumping puzzle were nice and easy. Same for the other minor stuff you need to do for achievements. Have not checked crafting yet but that should be okay too. And nice to have some skins at gem store and at npcs to trade.
If they are that easy to farm now… maybe wait until price drops? Then buy…
Downing makes sense. I think the gift is droppe on downing. At least that happened to me when I ran to the wrong base and someone downe me. Lol.
Will they stay in game forever as long as you store enough of the crafting mats you can only get during the event? (And possible be able to buy them later at the trading post).
Are there other recipes you where you need a recipe item than the insignia and inscription(the 2 offered by the vendor)?
I like to have lots of knockback knockdown and stuff like that stuff like the overcharded shot, big ol’ bomb and tons of other stuff. Even good at some champions for example that snow troll in the 80 area where blood drops witho only getting 3 stacks of that boon which makes im immune against crowd control.
That 3 stacks are down fast and net shot always working on him. I like the engineer.
For dungeon tokens and stuff like that which is used as currency(captain commendation tokens would count here too) I hope that they are going to include them in inventory like gems and coins without taking up any slots.
I agree with you aydenunited. Another problem is that you somehow have to join the low populated servers and might get to one where only 1 vs 1 with 2 people is. Probably the 9/10 (10 slot server with 9 people there) are more likely to play the real game mode. But not possible to join there… you always click…. wait a few minutes and then connection error probably because the server is full and someone else joined.
They need to fix that. Needs to give a faster response so that you can join somewhere else or put you in queue there(with all the people leaving and joining every few seconds should not be a problem).
Duel servers? There are not duel servers. Or was there a new update I did not hear about? If there were duel servers there would be either 2 slot servers with 1 vs. 1 or maybe a bigger server like 50 slots where 50 people can join and duel on a map – each one choosing someone to duel with with a duel skill(and they just could make this everywhere even in the PvE world). Damage taken only from the one you are dueling with.
If it is 5 vs. 5 I guess its just the same like 8 vs. 8 and even if you join a 5 vs. 5 where only 2 players are you can just play like a normal game and try to win and kill the enemy if they are in a 1 vs. 1. That’s how that game mode works and if everyone thought they were duel servers then there would be only 2 players everywhere because they would not fill with more players.
That is wrong. Not intended by ArenaNet.
If you want to complain about not being able to duel then complain to ArenaNet not to other players.
Just let the people chose 2 different servers. 1 PvE server where they play PvE and another server for WvW. Then you can have a full server with tons of people where most of them play PvE only and the few WvW players won’t need to whine because no one is doing WvW – because they just can WvW at another server. In fact… just make the server restriction only for WvW and let us join PvE every server we want(would be a good idea for that guest function they want to make… make it just like this and no need for other people or friends to be on a server to join there but let us join everywhere without restriction).
It’s a team game so you can just have a few of the people with these advantages in your team and it will be balanced. And if it was 1 vs. 1 only it would not matter. The one down always lost(I mean it it were really 1 vs. 1 like a duel where no other guy could interfere while you try to finish).

About 50 silver difference between buying and selling per 100 gems. If you are talking about real life and say here it is about 30 percent… I don’t think anyone in real life would pay 30 percent. ;-)
There should be at least a cap to maybe 5 or 10 silver. Or better remove it completely.
I can understand that they don’t want someone to make money with buying cheap and selling high. But that still is possible at the trading post. And the persons are using their time to do research and it should be possible.
Then another reason: They might want to to increase the gem price to make people buy more gems for real money.
But I don’t think this will increase ArenaNets profit that much. People not paying won’t pay. They will just farm more and farm the more gold they need to get their gems. People buying gems for real money will in fact buy less gems because less people are likely to buy gems to just trade them into gold(only buy gems to buy the stuff you need from gem store).
If you remove the fee… I am sure more people will buy gems for real money and trade into gold because they will be able to get more gold… which in turn makes it easier for people to trade gold into gems…. price getting higher again.
I think the way it is now it will stay high and only get higher slowly.
They should make badges from killing other players(not npc mobs or chests) be autolooted. Not the other stuff you can get. Only badges.
And best would be to not let them use inventory space. Add them like gold, silver, karma. And automatically randomly award some on getting the kill.
Also maybe add them to WvW events INSTEAD of karma. I don’t think karma is that much important to WvW or what stuff do you buy for karma that you only use in WvW?
Another game I used to play – not MMORPG, more of a FPS game mechanic but you fought melee with swords and blocking system and stuff – used something called “upkeep”.
You had to have a goldmine with gold in it. If not you lost upkeep and respawn timer increased.
Mabe they could make the respawn timer depend on something on the map you could capture. Could give the team an advantage… of course the stronger team then will have even more advantage… they will kill more and will hold that point giving themselves lower respawn and enemy will have the higher respawn.
It is not about computer or connection. If disconnected it was their fault because it were the servers problems. You could see it if you tried to kill a mob far away from the zerg – only you and the mob visible and still skill lag. That can’t be the hardware.
I did not get disconnected and I hope everyone disconnected will still get a reward. Also I am not whining about precursors – everyone got the same chance it it is just about having luck.
Exploit is about generating multiple chances. And this is what this thread is about… if this was allowed or not. If it was allowed I will try to use every future exploit I should find and just say “I did not know it was an exploit”. They can’t ban me then. I can’t know what they intended or not. Won’t make the same mistake again that might lead me to miss on getting nice rewards with all chars.
If it was per character they might make a new repeatable version of the event that recognizes which char already got a chest from the last weekend… and let other chars that did not get it do it again. So people that did not exploit have a chance to get it on all char slots too.
Also maybe a lower reward chest for repeating on the same char(to encourage players that already got the main chest with all chars to go with chars there because the event needs lots of players).
That would be fair then. If I knew the exploit was allowed I would have tried to get it with all 5 chars not only with one. Now I played fair and did not try to exploit… they can’t put me at a disadvantage here. If they are not going to remove rewards from people that opened more than 1 chest then I want to be able to get the rewards for my other 4 chars too.
They banned people at the beginning when they turned karma into gold with cooking stuff they bought with karma.
And guess what: The game was totally new and people could not have known what ArenaNet intended. Still they banned… when nobody could have known since the game was that new.
They need to at least remove the advantage – the stuff gained from 2nd+ chests.
Why does the chest specifically stop you from looting it on one character, but it does not prevent you from looting it on another character? Why not have the chest work only once per account?

The way it worked out is in currently in line with exactly how the rest of loot distribution and rewards in the game works. To do the same as everywhere else in the game and then ban people for doing what they do daily in dungeons, that’s blind-siding the community.
Exactly. If it works the same as other stuff in the game it only means they did not thin about people exploiting here and only forgot to implement a new mechanism preventing it here.
Again: You do it one time with one char. Then you switch to another char but you should not be able to do it again because it finished already. You are exploiting the overflow mechanism here… it is not only about playing different chars.
If they wanted us to do it on different servers they could have said from the beginnig: We start it each server on different times so players have more time to switch between servers and overflows to get the reward for all chars.
They did not. They intened it to finish all the servers same time. Of course this is not possible because of different amount of players with different skill, different gear, different lag which leads so some servers being slower… and then being abused to get more reward by people doing it again.
It is an exploit. You are exploiting the overflow system in a non-intended way. One-time event means that everyone is on their server and playing with one char and finishing the event and then getting the chest. If you switch to a 2nd char then ideally you should again be in your main server where the event already finished – since it was a one-time-event.
So it should not possible to do it more than 1 time.
Using the overflow system to workaround this and to the event more than 1 time is an exploit.
Now you could say: But I did a lot of work with the 2nd char too… but probably most did not and only damaged the last boss a bit. And even if they did: The rewards were pretty high much higher than other bosses or events. People got and advantage here.
The least ArenaNet should do is removing all the stuff gained from this and really doing an accountwide check next time and not rewarding a 2nd time even if you play on a 2nd char on a different overflow.
I can understand if you farm orichalcum on different overflows. That is not a big deal even if you do it regularly. But chances on precursor and a 20 slot bag that usually costs you 10+ gold to make. Even if it is accountbound and you can’t turn it into gold you still save the gold that you otherwise needed to fill one of your bag slots with a 20 slot bag.
I made a suggestion on the suggestions forums to make an npc which makes it possible to replay such events for big groups like 20 people… in addition to the 5 people dungeons we have at the moment.
Of course different amount of mobs and rewards(can’t give that expensive stuff all the time).
But then at least people could see what it felt like to play in the event(and maybe better without lag).
Also I hope for all you guys that did not get to open the chest that support can help you soon. I was able to open the chest. Had no luck with precursor but I my best bags were 15 slot and I do not have that much gold… have been leveling the other char slots instead of farming with my first level 80 main. Still a good reward for me but not acceptable that others did not get anything when they played for almost 3 hours. They need to fix this.
I really think that boss battle against the ancient karka could have been a lot of fun if was not that laggy. Also the reward(I was lucky to be able to open that chest) was nice.
Now that island map is not that big and we have people who want more content for bigger groups instead of only the dungeons for 5 people.
I suggest making an npc that lets us repeast such events. Place it in one of the major cities but not Lion’s Arch or Hoelbraek. Hoelbraek already got the keg brawl npc. Lion’s Arch already is major meeting point of all the player for most other stuff and got the new dungeon. I remember people wanting something unique for the other cities.
Maybe Rata Sum or The Grove? An asuran researcher or some ‘dream guy’ that lets you replay a dream version of that event.
Groups maybe like 20 people and tune down a bit the amount of mobs and of course the rewards – can’t give 20 slot bags all the time lol – to balance it for that amount of players. Hopefully this will be possible without lag.
Is it possible to get that reward more than 1 time by getting to different overflows that finish faster or slower? Someone on my overflow already knew about the bag when we had not yet finished.
He said he did it already(probably on another overflow). But could have been tht he only got the info from forums.
Would be a bit disappointing of others could use this to get more reward. I hope they mad an accountwide check to allow only 1 chest per account to be looted.

Lol. “Refuse”. We are not seeing the circles early enough. And of course the dodge is not helpful if you press they key and the server recognizes it 10 seconds later.
And it IS the server. Tried to to far away to solo some young karkas with no other people nearby and the skills and movement were a bit laggy… because of the server. Not my computer.
Nice money sink the part 3 of the event. First I did think the lag would not be a problem this time. At least players were visible and skills not lagging. But mobs appeared late and a lot of vets with AoE wiped everyone fast. Happened pretty often.
Later at the boss outside where you had to drive him back more deaths and more lag. More people there and laggy like in Lion’s Arch.
And 2 times I had to reconnect. 1 time at loading screen. 2nd time after disconnect while death and clicking waypoint and nothing happening.
Good money sink. Lots of porting and dying.
But now I am wayting. Not doing the same stuff again in this new overflow only to get a few silver.
This needs a key. I usually like to use double-tap to evade. But don’t like it in jumping puzzles. A bit inconvenient to go every time to the options and disable it…
and then not to forget enable it again after finishing the puzzle.
Is this possible? I mean the keys you usually use to post the tooltip of your items in chat. Particularly I don’t like the one that is posting instantly. The other one that is adding it to the chat but not sending it so you can add additional text is okay.
Have usually other stuff mapped to this keys like showing names of npcs while pushing one of the keys and don’t want to map them to other keys.
