2 if you open directly at checkpoint and then go to the end to get another one.
1 if you use the checkpoint to get 1 respawn there and then only get one at the end.
Or is it different? Haven’t tried yet. From what people have wrote(full reward 3 someone said) it seems like it could be like this.
I automatically got the achievement(did not know my previous AP cause I don’t keep track if all the small AP gains so I might not have got AP for this).
Did the story instance with NPCs and got the injector + I think one key and toxic spores and some container items(and I correctly left with the portal). Did 2nd time after that immediately for other achievements(with the puzzles) and got only coice of 3 pack container items(bag thing) + 5 spores.
Also achievement did not count meta. So far only AP and the meta count seem missing. Not a big deal if you can get the meta with dailies but still annoying cause it might take a bit longer.
Any news on this? I am not playing much and I got more from rewards than I could ever use. Even if I did my dailies and used the 1 immediately(might now take longer so I can use more than 1 because we have other dailies now which take longer) I still got a lot from chests(probably still getting?) and from monthly I think.
Have more than 1 full stack. More than 250. And always forgot to use them only for 3 matches I play at a day(I usually played only 3 matches for daily because I also play other parts of the game).
Feels like a waste to throw away all those items.
Even 100 glory would be enough(for salvage kits – I still have stuff to salvage and need to buy kits – or let them trade for other stuff as currency at a vendor).
Okay thanks. I thought crafting might stay. They really should make an official thread with a roadmap and so I don’t have to ask every time or look at 1000 different websites for information.
But seems better to remove crafting. Boring stuff. I will open most of them later today and make dye. (Hopefully easier ways to get skins in the future then – not going to craft skins)
Then always open the ones from wins as soon as I get them to not have too much at once stored up. I hope before removing completely they will give 1-2 weeks with new reward system where you already can not earn more chests – but still offering vendor to buy kits to salvage remaining chest stuff.
Crafted stuff is not meant to look good.(and I mean the basic crafted stuff like weapons and armor – not something special like those back items from dwayna we got now) You craft it because of stats. I mean look at all ther other stuff.
I find it easy, collecting dozens of gifts last night already. I also find the changes are improvements from the first iteration.

No. As mentioned I think we are only used to the old version from last year which was easier despite having no 1-time safe checkpoint. Especially at the exploding gifts.
Tons of players waiting at the exploding gifts making them all explode at once and much faster(even if you only go by yourself seems faster).
Last year not all of them exploded. They did a major change here and it is luck based a bit because I don’t have a unlimited jump range and if all others in range are going to explode it is a bad thing. Almost going to use the checkpoint anytime now. Sometimes that 1-time checkpoint can help. Sometimes you die 2 times in a row at gifts.
But certainly seems nearly impossible to do without checkpoint.
Clocktowers on other hand was much easier this time(last year it was different and clock tower was harder).
With the removal of glory I want to have used up all my glory by that time(buying wintersday gifts atm).
But: I still have some matchreward chests and don’t want open and salvage them now because too boring to do.
I don’t know how many salvage kits I would need to salvage all of that stuff.
Is it planned to still have access to salvage kits later so I can salvage later even after they removed glory vendors?
(Like same salvaging system only based on gold/silver/copper money and vendors selling salvage kits for silver then? )
I think we are supposted to spend all glory. First I heard glory will stay and some glory + gold vendors. Ranks will go.
Now I heard(latest info): Ranks will stay. But they want to remove any means of gaining glory(we will get only silver(money) which we already get not besides glory).
Vendors to trade in remaining glory also are planned to be removed. So I’ll trade all the stuff now. Since I don’t need anything from the old vendors and don’t want to spend glory on the new one(will stay some more time I think) I will try the other new one(probably will be leaving after wintersday) to get gifts.
Giant gifts seem good. Got from 600 one of the minis. (I could have sold them directly which would give worse money I think – besides I think I’ll keep 1 mini and hope for more copies or unbreakable bell or endless tonics).
I only hope they will still offer salvage kits pvp(for money then later at some other vendor if glory vendor removed). Don’t want to buy tons of kits now… and don’t want to open the tons of chests I got now(and don’t know how many salvage kits I would need to buy for all of that).
Yeah was good. Looking forward to the remaining stuff 2014 and then want to see if we really can capture or kill Scarlet(probably capture – I don’t think they want us to kill her because we are “good guys” and younger people are playing the game – we already captured Mai Trin).

Nothing to guess. Tower is exploding. No way out. NPCs running somewhere. Logic dictates that you follow them(if there is no other way). Saw portal and immediately used that. Nothing guessing. No big thinking. Was totally clear.
Auto-exiting story with the escape button at bottom right of screen or by some other means only is possible after you got the rewards(usually). Because then it is finished. If not it still is not finished and some other stuff needs to be done(here: using the portal).
For me the Nightmare Ender achievement also does not count to meta and it already was finished for me after that patch(and colored icon at achievement tab). I first thought it was some achievement you automatically got for having done the previous meta achievements where you helped fighting the nightmare a lot. But description text really makes it seem as if it was for that new story instance – then they should give it only after you complete it and not alreay before automatically.
And let it count to meta.
Cutscene was good(I’d love an item to rewatch it anytime I want like with some other items we already have… unfortunately we don’t get these often).
But not the best. Best was Majorys evil laugh. Lol. I want to marry Majory or Kasmeer. Please make it possible at personal story lol. And add some male chars to marry too for females that like it or homosexual male players(or characters if you roleplay and only care what your char wants lol).
I think they should have made a different title. I also don’t like that everyone can get journeyman now. But if they made apprentice a requirement then new players would complain. Even if they could get apprentice now instead(and others would get journeyman) they still would feel worse because they have 1 lower tier title.

Yeah. Seems cheap at TP because it is pretty common. 200 more giant gifts opened and 2 dwayna 1 grenth. Selling them later. That unbreakable bell and the endless tonics seem to be pretty rare. Let’s see if I get one with 600 more(then 1000 total) giant gifts. Good I have tons of glory and don’t care about other glory vendor stuff or about selling the gifts for money. This time I’ll try my luck and use up all the glory on gifts and open them all(and then buying new mouse from all the clicking lol).
Edit: Another 200. Now I am going to sleep. More 400 missing to 1000 tomorrow(and then even more as long as I have glory). This time from the 200 no recipe but finally something rare: the mini(forgot about that). Need bell and tonics still(endless). I got some legendary luck essence(1 and 1 the 200 I opened before). Also insignia seems a lot more common than the recipe for giver inscription(at least for me. TP says otherwise but who cares with prices <1 silver lol).

I downloaded few mb. maybe even less than 50. Must be bug at your client that it rechecked some files or stuff like that.
200 giant gifts bought at glory vendor. 1 of each special skin recipes and 15 quarzt and <20 or <10 low quality luck essences. Some 50-150 of each of the 3 tradeable clothes items for wintersday vendors…. if I remember correctly. Bought this few hours ago. I am only sure about 15 quartz and the skin recipes 1 of each.
So that recipes seem pretty common(I usually have bad luck).
I am surprised they are patching that fast.
Where does this start? I already saw this event and I saw “donation drive” mentioned in patch notes but I don’t see some icon in LA on the map and I’m too lazy to look for myself without icon. But I might want to help to donate stuff to start the event.
Didn’t expect they actually would make it harder. Easy to get to mid checkpoint(unfortunately can only save you 1 time). But after that it is harder. With the exploding presents this really got buffed and they explode much faster than last year.
Part after that I haven’t tried enough. Will try tomorrow after doing some Nightmare living story stuff.
YOu can Q in team arena with 2 or 3 I heard. But I also heard you will end up facing 5 man teams almost 100% likely, and you could have a huge wait time as you need other partial teams/individuals to q solo.
I wonder if this might stay true after introducing silver(money) as reward. Since team arena is giving more reward a lot of randoms might try this instead and it might be less likely to play against full 5 man premade team(and for the 5 man full premade it might of course get more boring because they more often get worse organized enemies of 3 + x [2 or 1/1]).
You can team queue with 1 person. I just tried that(because I did not know and heard from some other guy in German forums that he complained about premades vs. randoms in TeamArena where apparently you can queue with 3 and others can queue as 1 and then it makes a team from this).
Solo only 1 single person can queue.
Ah okay thanks. Not that it wasn’t there(I saw at my inventory that there was more gold). Only wanted to know were you can see it. Maybe I did not pay enough attention. Will try to pay more attention next time at the popups and also at scoreboard.
Afaik it is not in the “chest” you open. There is only rank points and glory and that other match reward chest. I think you get it automatically?
But I don’t see it at the right of the screen where usually loot shows(even from events the few silver). (or maybe I just did not pay enough attention because of the tons of other stuff glory related popups and top players stuff?)
Also did not see it in log(but might also have not payed enough attention because I have a lot of other stuff and fighting lot there in that tab which spams more info when players continue to attack after match finishes).
There is a solution: Play PvE!
So I heard they plan to add even more skill you need to unlock if you want to use them in sPvP.
Do we already know when they start to let you level in sPvP(like gaining normal exp and then gaining ranks – even after 80)?
This is necessary for PvP only players so they can get skill points. Also would be nice for others that only sometimes play PvP. Additional reward.
The idea: Just show the PvE level(even if it is 1 only fpr PvP only players) and let it level by giving exp from kills and stuff. Real stats of course would always be as if you were 80 in sPvP(upscaled).

I don’t know how it works. But they should change it and make it so that a auto balanced guy automatically gets win rewards. I know this from some other game where it automatically counted as “win” in some stats(there was no other reward besides stats). Because you are doing a nice thing and helping the other team you get moved to. So you are rewarded.
So where is our level bar for easy leveling 1-80?

Only thing I heard of is WoW. I that does not count I don’t know about others. MMO: Problem because of different gear from PvE. And if they now introduce the unlocking of skills in sPvP then they are ruining it and it will have that very same problem as the other MMOs and not possible to turn it into esports then.

You mean “… of ArenaNet ruining the game”? I don’t think anyone new starting will like this. Because they completely ruin the game and the system they made which allowed you to just be a new player and start PvP – everyone with the same stats and skills.
When will we have to unlock the other old skills and just take our PvE armor to sPvP(to make even armor differences and stats differences)? Only a matter of time.
And now we can safely say: ArenaNet abandoned the idea of esports – because with this they can bury what little hope there was left of turning the game into an esport.

Not that I care… I have tons of skill points because I play all parts of the game and aim for world completion 100 percent on all chars(giving tons of skill points already). And there will still be enough PvP players left to play against.
But overall it is bad for the state of the game and if they really still might try to aim for esports.
Huh? Since when you do you need to unlock a skill in PvP? Is this new now? Have only tried my main and unlocked it in PvE and then went to PvP so I could not have noticed and thought it was just unlocked because all stuff there usually is unlocked and not because I bought it already in PvE and it otherwise would be locked.

Only 1 match sPvP and I already like it. Needs a bit training for me since I am not used to use heal skill toolbelt key (F1) that often ha ha. But nice thing. I already play a lot with gadgets and have reduced CD(power, rifle and gadgets for knockback and launch). Also some toolbelt cd recude from trait line.
Not that much worse than elixir even if you only get the small heal. And the big heal is nice if you manage to time it somehow.(still need to train to be better at this). Nice additional stun that fits in my “take all the cc you gan get”(and then die against hte perma stability guy because you dont have much other stuff to protect ha ha) playstyle.
Edit: And might also be better at PvE where you can easier predict the enemies.

There might still be wrong ranked peole even if it is already a bit longer since the reset. I am at about 40 percent atm and was around 80-90 before(more like 80). And because I only play 3 matches a day for daily until monthly complete I only started to play 3 matches since start of this month (x10 = only 30 matches after reset). So it can take some time. Of course most that played a lot should already be ranked correctly.
I found 2 vendors. The one already mentioned at some info threads which sells skins and stuff for glory and gold. I personally don’t care much because I already have my style I like without the need of dungeon or cultural stuff. Also I don’t want to use gold(or at least not a lot gold).
That myster coffer seems only to contain crap?
So I saw the other vendor which sells wintersdays gifts. I probably should buy this only then?

Short answer: No.
Even for completionists that stuff is optional because it resets every day and there is no counter that shows like 7/9 dailies where you could see that you missed one of them. This mainly because there are no different sub achievements that have a permanent entry in the achievement tab like 29th november dailies, 30th november dailies.
It only gets you more AP but you still might have missed some AP somewhere and don’t know it because it is never shown anywhere. They would first need to show this somewhere.
So just ignore it if you don’t like to farm. It’s not like there is a pet missing from some bank slot or something else similar to that. Only some AP which never will be complete. Otherwise you all would be at top of AP leaderboard with same AP and there even is only 1 I think and the 2nd already has not max AP which means he missed something.
Edit: But now actually having read your suggestion – sorry I was a bit fast and only read the first part of the post – I want to say:
It is a good suggestion. Because it also makes the difference between those AP grinders and other normal players smaller. Everyone would get the same AP and not some guy doing nothing but farming for hours getting more AP(bad idea… AP worthless not showing how good someone really is and this is even more so if you let some people farm 1 AP and get more and more than others).
So not a bad idea.
But I also would suggest to remove AP leadearboards. People can still post screens and show off their big AP numbers. But no leaderboards(then maybe less people would force themselves to grind AP).
Leaderboards should show real accomplishments. Not only grind. And sPvP and WvW this is possible(okay WvW it means coverage of server ha ha). PvE maybe some timed challanges or hardcore stuff for dungeons and groups. Kill 10 champions in 1 minute or stuff like that(actually kill x champions in 1 minute and then making leaderboard who killed the most).

You are right. Nobody cares if someone at the bottom of leaderboards who does not even know about PvP and only plays to get AP leaves the game.
Yes pls force us to do even more stuff if we don’t want to lose any more AP coz of studid daily system , and what even worse add dailes that we can fail coz of other ppl in our team and not our performance
You don’t lose AP. You just decide not to get a few 1 AP daily achievements because you don’t want to do them. If you really are one of these people that do all the achievements only to get that 1 AP… then I think you need help.
There is tons of more stuff like living story where you constantly can get some easy 50-100 AP with each release.
Dailies you do because you like to play the game and maybe for the nice little reward chest. Not for 1 AP… lol

I’m sorry this is ridiculous. The nerve of you ap farmers to think that you SHOULD be able to get ALL possible daily APs, and that anet should cater to your farming needs, instead of also giving pvp players means to get aps (tell me how much aps are there to get in pve vs in pvp?). I know pvp players are a minority, but there are people that don’t touch pve at all and that deserve the achievement points chests too.
Yeah that’s fun. For me it would really have a bad impact on quality of life if I myself had to get all AP and play everyday only to get every single 1 AP from each daily. I think there are also other fun games and stuff you can do in GW2 besides the AP and a lot of ways to still earn enough AP so you don’t need to get all of them.
The need to get all of them… it really seems like a compulsive disorder. I think people would have more fun with the game and with their life if they somehow managed to take it less seriously and play it only for fun and not forcing themselves to get every single AP while missing some other stuff they could have done in that time(which is more fun).
Glad I stopped that early. To be honest: At the beginning I thought I also wanted to get all the stuff. But with the first minis and expensive stuff which was limited in store(I don’t want to farm hours for gold or pay tons of real money) I learned it fast and was able to get away from the “I need everything”. Since then much more fun and less trouble on my mind.
And how are the rewards? Should be 10 times worth the usual rewars. Otherwise I’ll ignore it and just do PvE dailies for laurel(and other more important stuff coming with the reward).
Mainly doing PvP dailies for laurel in case I should not have time to do the PvE dailies and go to each maps(sometimes need to do on more than 1 map and running around).
Seems really like they would need to hotfix it fast if it really is 5 wins solo q 3 wins team q.
1 win from one of those of those should be enough. I mean we already have monthly: 20 wins. And that would mean 4 days = monthly.
And nobody should be forced to to team q.
Lol nice. Too bad others won’t be able to get to this anymore if they remove the glory rank system soon. I think you can still use the old finishers(if I heard correctly) you earned but not gain anymore at some point in the future when they want to replace those ranks.
I don’t think they remove glory vendors. Is there a news on this with official dev post? They might stop the ways you can earn glory. But not removing the vendoers…
I mean this would make your remaining glory useless and they absolutely can not do that. We even still have the tournament ticked vendor to trade tournament tickets… and these have been made impossible to earn for a long time now. Could as well have disabled that also and not offered this.
But with that vendor they showed that they cared about this. So they never will remove glory vendors. At least not completely or without making another way to spend remaining glory.
I don’t mean the pet from ranger and I don’t mean “CD” of the skill. I mean the timer like with engineer’s supply crate and the elementals of the elementalist. They disappear after some time.
Are there also timers on guardians spirit weapons or rock dog(from rune) or ranger spirits? Haven’t noticed anything like that yet because I don’t play these classes(only PvE and not with that skills) and in PvP they usually get killed first making their pets despawn.
I think only rangers main pet and necro minions(cause the class is meant to use them as main think – necros summon undead stuff) and the mesmers illusions(their main class stuff) should stay permanent. All other things should have timer.
Especially rock dogs sometimtes seem to stay long even longe than 10-20 seconds and if that bunker warrior is staying alive long then you kill the rock dogs with AoE while also damaging the bunker guy. I think we have enough pets and all other stuff besides mentioned above should have a disappear timer. Especially ranger spirits and rock dogs. (Maybe adjust the CD on skill also to make up for this and let it start already after that thing is cast instead of only after it is killed).
For vertical progression, upgrades are next. Specifically, they talked about infusions, but ascended level runes and sigils will probably also happen at some point. After that, they’ll probably increase the level cap to start the process all over again.
Then at some point I probably will stop the game. Only means: No new ideas = getting boring and I don’t want to be forced to grind more stuff to stay competitive and be able to play newer content.
They will keep 1 group of players – the ones that want to grind gear(these players are better suited to play WoW) and the other group that liked the game from the beginning because it was “different” will stop. (I don’t even think many of these players are left and already 90+ percent are the gear grinders).
Ascended as medium term and legendary as long term goal is okay(if legendary same stats as ascended but only other convenient features like skin or changing stats / and ascended only a bit better than exo). Even okay if they make all stuff like armor and accessories.
But not okay to introduce another armor tier so your ascended farming would be wasted after that new got introduced. Or increasing level cap(everything would be wasted because you would need all gear to remake at higher level version). Inacceptable!
So if you talked about jeweler… I think cooking and jeweler are next, right? Might be ascended jeweling and ascended food next. Then the remaining legendary stuff(armor and trinkets).
So ascended armor soon. Then maybe legendary armor which still is missing.
But what next? Do you think this will be the end or do you think they will make even more stuff if a lot of people have full ascended gear?
But that would be pretty bad for people that don’t play a lot and still are with exotic gear.
I hope ascended gear will be the end as mediumterm goal and legendary as longterm goal.
If still people are bored then ArenaNet should offer other stuff to make the game fun instead of gear.

I hope it also activates if you get hit from 2 percent to 0(downed). Otherwise it would be pretty useless. Also seems to have high CD.
Where is the official response (forum post) that they said they would change it? If they really change it they should just give everyone that participated a bit more stuff – so people that already opened the chest would also get it.
Also give it regardless of rank. It is the reward for meta achievement and everyone completed the same meta achievement. If they now start to give more to top ranked servers only then others will complain because they worked more and get less. And then they need to give more again. More, more, more. It will never stop.
Best to leave it as it is.
