I think Scarlet only does it for fun. No real reason. Just for fun so she can always come back and throw new stuff at you making the living story continue. Like some endless super hero tv series against some bad guy that just is bad cause he likes to be bad and do bad stuff.

And that would be BAD story telling.

as an aside, I count a total of 5 “bad” s used in aggregate :P

Yes I know. But I don’t care since it is a MMORPG and I don’t expect better. It’s already a lot better than other MMORPGs. Usually you don’t play MMORPG because of story and developers are not focusing on making a good story. It’s about doing gameplay with and against other players.

If I want story I buy a good linear single player RPG focused on story without open world crap that distracts me from the main story.

Question about rewards(repeatable, permanent)

1. Will the recipe merchand stay permanent? Or do I need to buy all the recipes I need now?

2. Will the Pristine Toxic Spore Samples stay permanent? Or do I need to farm a lot of them now?

3. Which stuff do I need to “farm” in the tower? If I understood it correctly running it 1 time(+ last instance a 2nd time additional achievements) will be enough to get all achievements and then I only need to farm the keys for the chest becaues there is random stuff?

Is this correct? And someone mentioned the keys at the merchant can only be bought once per day?

I sometimes go afk if it gets boring. Like few times the same map – a map I don’t like – and then losing at start. Unbalanced classes(3 mesmer 2 necro one enemy team, my team 2-3 thieves that 1 max is enough). Sometimes you know it will be an easy win for the enemy. And if after the start they are 100-200 points ahead then you can stop playing.

If it’s my favourite map or I’m in the mood to try and classes seem balanced I’ll usually continue. But sometimes if the game is trolling with few bad matchups and same map in a row then you just have to stop if you lose at the beginning.

Only played the first dungeon version with Kasmeer and Majory. Was a bit annoying because of that toxic stuff(spawned a lot of these when he was at low health) and the other mobs that spawned. Without that he would be too easy. I’d agree with Kalith and say it was okay. Same as other solo stuff where you get “champs” that aren’t really champions and more like a vet with a lot more HP.

Edit: But reminds me to try with turrets at engineer and let the turrets stay alive and then bring some defensive skills to heal myself and just wait for him to die to turrets lol. If it worked with mesmer clones and thieves guild it also should work with turrets.

There still might peole farming the keys? … oh wait I think you can just buy them at the merchant in Kessex Hills(that replaces Majory who is in the tower now and also offer the skill and the recipes). Yeah… might get empty then. Not worth farming there. Just farming events outside and then trading keys and going there sometimes to open the chest for chance on skin.

I struggled the most in the Molten Alliance room just because of the stupid protector’s fire protection and the stomping brawlers are annoying as balls, but I managed to run around like a chicken long enough to get back in control of that fight.

That was the one with the portals? In the first dungeon with Kasmeer and Majory I had a bit trouble when there were like 8 or 9 mobs and 3 of them vets… cause I killt that portals too fast and thought the mobs also would disappear(maybe you can go to the next room with them stopping following at some place)?

Or is ist better to kill few mobs then destroy the portal, then next few mobs, then next portal? (if they don’t respawn as long as portal is open? – or do they respawn / spawn more? then I’ll just fast kill the portals).

Can that last 2 hybrid killer achievements also be soloed? (without dying)? When I tried entering 2nd time it seems there was a different dungeon version very similar but without Kasmeer and Majory(which probably makes it harder).

Also: Is in that 2nd dungeon version it still possible to get that other diver achievement? Read you need to exit the instance after killing the boss and did that in the 1st version with Majory and Kasmeer but new build reset me at entrance after relogging… instead of near another diving google where it should have spawned me according to Dulfy guide.

Running the last part is pretty hard. I hope after that there is a golem to port before the final instance. But mainly because of the tons of veterans that hid you hard. That other exploding stuff and the toxic debuff arent’t that big of a problem.

Oh. So it’s a special achievement only for these goggles then. Haven’t checked all the small achievements yet. Walked with zerg until that first chamber thing and that was totally soloable. Only normal mobs + vets.

There are diving goggles? So this means that tower will stay permanent(cause of the achievements for goggles and they can’t remove them suddenly).

Is there also soloable stuff(those instances)? Or everything group only? I wasn’t there yet. Patch nodes said something that you could do some stuff solo?

Actually for me it is more unbalanced now. When the enemy team is winning much more easily and with bigger points differents against my team then I don’t think it is more balanced. (Before the change more there were more closer matches 4xx vs 500).

I’d prefer if you reset it now. For some strange reason my rank increased even when I only lost games(maybe because some “decay” removed people from the leaderboard). Now I need to get tons of losses because if imbalanced matches this causes. It apparently matches you against much stronger people now when you really would be lower.

Holy kitten… too many bad matches… this will take ages again to get a proper rating. I think I won’t play much more. Getting boring. I’ll stop with sPvP. First it sounded good to reset the matchmaking ratings. But cause now everything is random until everone has a rating there are boring matches. 33 vs. 500 losing is not fun(also winning would not be fun).

I’m afking a bit or just walking around without trying fighting(to avoid leaver debuff and to get low rating so I can get some wins lol).

Edit: Strangely it still shows my high percentage? Or even higher than before even when I lost 2 matches??? Didn’t they say rating has been reset?

No 2 thieves 1 ele 1 guardian 1 enigneer vs 3 mesmer 2 necro(free win for the team with mesmer and necro). I would wait longer to have it more balanced. 1 less thief on first team. And max 3 out of necro/mesmer – no more than 2 of the same class. Instead of 3 mesmer 2 necro then 1 mesmer 2 necro or 2 mesmer 1 necro max.

What I still don’t like is being matched against 3 Mesmer + 2 Necro with a team of classes without minions. (I mean thieves, engineers, ele and guardian still can use stuff like thieves guild, turrets… but it is not their usual stuff). Basically free win for the team with 3 Mesmers.

I think it’s good. Tired of opening and salvaging all the chests. Even though I don’t do sPvP that much and they removed confirmation message at salvaging it was annoying.

I like the idead. Maybe at certain events they could give those event stuff – Wintersday would be the next suited for this(snowflake and gift boxes).

Then change back to normal rewards while no such events.

Good to hear Team Arena ratings reset as well. I have 59% there and never played Team Arena. Only solo queued and the old rating from old system back then was copy pasted without thinking(should have started new).

Wasn’t there supposed to be a debuff? I think I read about this in the past and threads from people asking about it?

I just tested myself: And no. There is no debuff. At least not shown in the boon/condition.

Joined 1 solo arena and left after 1 minute and did not disconnect while the match was running.

Later when I logged in no debuff. Or is it insivble? Or did they not implement such a thing and I heard it wrong in the past(thought theres was something in patch notes)?

So basically I can join and leave as much as I want(if I don’t like the map cause maps are random).

Well, apparently a lot of people like that commander on UW Bloodstealer is talking about. I think I know whom he means. Yeah noticed he said “we are coming with 40 man” when we only had 20. Also he left EB to go to another BL to cap stuff.

But: I stayed a bit longer on EB(and then switched to that BL later): For a lot of time nothing happend in our corner… and we could easily have messaged him and he might have come back to help defend. A lot of people left(only few GuM in Mendon and 3-4 others left). So why do people follow him if he is that bad? They even followed to other map. I’d expect then for people to just leave the game if they tag is away not even reading chat where he told to go to other map.

He is doing to have fun – the main reason we play the game(not for loot, not for PPT – but a lot mainly play for one of these). That is okay. And he can motivate people and make them follow. A lot of other boring commanders can’t do that. That’s worth a lot especially with a lot of random people(no organized guild zerg). I like the way he is talking in chat.

It’s good. Better than some other random commanders that try ages to take some defended tower which is boring… and then if our EB corner gets attacked port back and half the other people don’t follow and get there fast enough and then 2 of our towers lost while we could not even cap 1.

Yes there also are fails like described above. But all other commanders fail sometimes with random pug players. It just happens. It’s not like it happens more frequently with him.

Yeah sure. Ascended back piece with fixed stats combination nobody needs. But if it was really only that I would not care. Difference in stats probably not that big.

As long as they don’t give tons of free chests with exos that you can sell or rank xp liquid wxp stuff(that only helps that server that already is strong in gaining more ranks fast).

Make cannons more radius and range and remove all boons with all of the cannon skills on hit. No mastery needed. And remove AoE cap so they can hit all targets, even more than 50.

I’d like a special commander class. After 1 char level 80 and a few WvW ranks and a commander book bought and used(all on 1 char) there should be a free char slot unlocked that only can be used with to make a char with such a class. No sPvP, no PvE, no personal story.

Char can only login to Lion’s Arch and not leave LA and from there port to WvW.

This char could use have a free tag, as much WvW ranks as your highest normal player char has for free(automatically updating and not gaining rank itself only taking it from your othe char). And some different ranks that level up while you play that char. only for that char and special skills.

Edit: Class could be heavy since we only have 2 heave armor atm and 3 for each other armor type. And huge AoE buffs with high AoE limit. Would need balancing to prevent enormous stacking with more than 1 commander(and you can’t stop people from using this cause a lot might want to play it then). Maybe weaker effect if others commanders in certain range.

Without it there still is zerging. Either people have enough players to zerg. Then they will zerg. Or they don’t have enough people. Then they won’t zerg. Not dependend on other stuff in the map or game. Only the number of players online decides if there is zerging.

How long is the internal CD on the 6th rune effect? Seems strong if the internal CD was too low. If not the runes seem okay. Should be at least 30 seconds internal cd(3 times the duration like with skill 4 where it already is mentioned).

Most runes have stuff that has a much longer CD than duration(so you can’t get it permanently). Makes totally sense to have a longer CD.

There also is pretty useless stuff like "When you use a healing skill nearby foes are burned for 3 seconds. (cooldown: 10s) " I mean heal lol. Heals itself have longer CD already… then only 3 seconds and internal CD of 10s.

It’s totally okay if 6th effect on this rune has longer CD – even if it seems useless to you then. Just swap 6th for another rune then like a lot of people do(they are lots of builds with mixed runes especially guardian boon duration that uses major, superior of different runes to max boon duration).

There is a game I really liked out there… “Savage 2”. Not many people played it. Only max 50 people playing it at the same time atm. Also a “Savage 1” existed. From the company that made “Heroes of Newerth”(DotA clone – it were their first 2 games).

While it was not a MMORPG it was still unique and fun. More like a shooter(but melee based) with 2 teams of usually 16 people each team. They were organized in squads 4-5 people each and the commander had an rts view and could form squads. Nothing unusualy I think we have shooters with squads as well atm. And even with building(that game also had builing of bases where you people spawned like shooter Nuclear’s Dawn).

This might be a bit what OP wants.

I think it could work in Guild Wars 2. 1 commander should get rts view and being able to upgrade keeps and stuff and drop siege there.

The other “commanders” we have now should be officers and have their squads. People can join or the commander can put them somewhere or give people in an rts view objectives. He can see as far as the line of sight of the players on his server is. And he should be able to see their masteries and stuff so he can order a player to man a specific siege(they should hear some sound or see a marker there then but they still can do other stuff or other people can use the siege).

Only problem would be: Everyone wants to be that one commander… that works in a small team vs. team game with 30 players(16 vs. 16) where you can elect or impeach and stuff.

But in MMORPG… only will lead to whining especially if they make achievements. That is the only problem.

The wall/ gate upgrades should be different:

1st: Reinforce gate
2nd: Fortify wall(at cost of the old reinforce gate T2)
3rd: Fortify gate

Gates need to be stronger. Most of the time they are attacked. But we still want the fortify wall… and because we can’t make 2 upgrades for wall(would be 4 there then and probably needing more redesign of the quartermaster interface) we just use this as 2nd wall upgrade. A kitteneaper but then again you have to wait and don’t even get reinforced walls first… and since gates are main target gate upgrades should be first.

I still have fun cause my serve can recap every day and upgrade to max(at least keep at EB – not enough players for other maps and towers get taken during day as well at EB).

Main problem at end of the season might be the rewards cause they just reward better coverage. No real incentive for your people to fight – they are not rewarded for what they are doing. Only rewarding coverage = not skill. No incentive to play better or more(as long as you can’t influence the amount of other players that play – why solo at night? won’t do anything).

Yeah and allow relog ingame to other char without having to requeue cause we need it with WXP account bound(I have cannon mastery on 1 char and doing speeding dolyaks with another char cause other class that is better suited… want to switch back to main for emergencies and if cannons are ready but then… queue…).

They won’ tell now. Need to wait until season is finished. And wait for rewards(there also might be problems if the reward difference they make is too big between ranks – lower servrs still fighting a lot only weaker coverage and they still should be rewarded).

I don’t think Season 2 will start this year. At least 6 weeks until another Season starts if they make one.

Fortify vs. Waypoint? (vs. Cannons, Mortar)

What is more important at keep? Fortify(last wall upgrade) or waypoint? Would you even go for fortify if there are no cannons at keep yet?

I often notice a lot of people buying fortify first. Even if there are no cannons or other stuff. Especially at towers they don’t want to buy the “useless oil pot” before being able to buy cannons.

This only lets us with empty supplies there for a long time cause upgrades take ages and our camps often get flipped(and then not reupgraded fast cause zerg comes to recap and empties supplies at 100/100).

And then the enemy is attacking… at gate of course.

I strongly prefer waypoint first(first of course the 1st wallupgrade and then gate cause gates are weak). Not only increases the supply cap(you can store a bit more before buying next upgrade so you’d have some emergency supply when getting attacked – but nobody does that, everyone buying structural upgrades at 0 supply) but also you get cannons and I think they are useful(if you also have zerg to protect them it can support your zerg fighting the enemy and force them to retreat and attack walls with treb or stuff(that can be counter trebbed). Also wp good for faster movement and better defens of towers. Especially on slow servers like hours where it takes ages for the peple to get back to defend.

Same at towers. Some cannons have good position. Ogrewatch(ogre camp entrance, pangloss entrance) and Veloka for example.

Yeah I notice this “morning cap” is not unusual. Especially on weekend when we on UW still have people online during night… but they still are not playing 24/7 and then starting to sleep sometime in the early morning. Then we are weakest.

Even during week last matchup we had people staying awake at night to 2-3 a.m. time then between this time and afternoon it happens that we lose stuff. Weekend we will retake it early. At week when most are working or at school it will only happen late afternoon or evening.

I still remember when I stayed up until 5 or 6 a.m next day at my timezone last matchup in Eternal Battlegrounds I think it was. We defended a lot at the weekand and hat players online at night. Only to see keep lost 20 minutes after(according to Millenium) I went to sleep early morning next day.

But we had a few good fights yesterday at EB. At our keep when doors still were upgrading(slowly… people did not defend supply camps) and we got attackded by big Millers zerg and defended.

I hope we can at least upgrade keep EB every day after retaking it like last matchup(most days we managed to retake and upgrade and get it to max supplies 1700/1700 while doing some stuff and not outnumbered at EB – but not enough people to fill 2 maps… so borderlands dead at that time).

That’s interesting. Where did you get these numbers. By trying out for yourself? Or is this in wiki or somewhere mentioned by a dev? I only noticed by coming to a tower late when we already capped it that I didn’t get reward when I killed 1 enemy(got loot). So I thought they did not count. Did not know it was 3.

So probably at defensive event it also is 3? Since defending you can easily kill more enemies it should bet at least 3 or higher then but I think sometimes I got already at 1 only.

Afaik for defending you need to kill 1 enemy player nearby(do enough damage to qualify for loot) during the 3 minutes to get credit.

For attacking I think either staying in the circle(when it gets full – going there 1 second then leaving and letting others complete it does not count) or doing enough damage(to qualify for loot) to the lord(tower, keep, sm) or supervisor(camps) or sentry is enough. I usually already move if I get loot(bags, empyrial shards) since there is sure loot at these mobs… so I know I can start moving and don’t need to wait in the circle. If no loot I’ll wait.

Killing players, killing walls or gates does not count for event credit while attacking, afaik. And I don’t think killing the normal npcs there counts.

Also as Jayne said it remembers if you were there earlier sometimes(if you qualified per damage on the lord but could not cap it then).

Unintended WXP NERF?

I still get drops. Have 20 on 2 chars each. Few on another. Only 2 of the next tier(Thimble?) so far.

Others don’t seem to drop(either pretty rare like precursor or only from chests… and one tier you can buy from laurel vendor).

Drop = chance like yellow(rare) items. Thimble(next higher tier) chance like exo(orange, no precursor, normal exo) item. Thats’s how it feels to me atm.

Guys the whole thing how siege work is “bugged”. It’s just limitations because of the engine. They won’t “fix” anything. Why should this skill not work like it works now? If they fixed it they also needed to fix ACs. The arrows somehow appear out of the air without even needing a line of sight(only player needs to see them but no direct way calculated cause they just appear magically now like real arrows would move).

Ele Meteor Shower bugged… which appears magically – which is okay. But you still need to jump on the ledge of a wall cause apparently here you need a line of sight. Lol.

If anything is okay to to appear magically out of the air without line of sight from the char then magic. And Eles use magic. It totally makes sense. Not for AC and stuff like that.

Also Cannons are bullkitten … they should be a bit on a higher position to have a bigger angle and not shoot your wall if you move them a bit too the left.

Well… of course at the beginning it might be bad(usually even better to have 2 at our close point especially at Kyhlo were often one enemy is attacking there and your guy might lose 1 vs. 1). But later in battle I prefer to “run around”.

Cause often your close point is lot and mid is contested because the enemies just are not at mid… so it might seem okay to take their point where nobody of their team is… better than going to your close point and lose against 2 enemies while the other 4 of your team are losing against 3 at mid(and going there won’t help if 2 or 3 are downed already).

It depends on the situation and you need to look at the minimap. Also look at the health bar maybe… if you see 1 of your team capping 1 point and it takes long and he is low health he might loose(good if 1 of each class in team only so you can see by class icon and health bar without communicating).

Biggest problem is Spirit Watch: Either: Capping all points but not capping orbs(enemy sometimes caps 1 point and turns in orbs wich is enough for them to win). Or: Only capping orbs… not capping points(and even failing to bring the orbs to points cause enemy is waiting there to kill orb carrier. Pick up orb. Getting 30 points. Good balancing between running points or orb necessary.

I like the rifle. I agree you’d have to be squishy cause that’s just how the game works. You need power, crit and precision(if you still want to do damage and not only use it for CC) which does not leave much room for any defensive stats. Still I like it. I like the CC and it is fun to play with rifle. Also gadgets are fun. Lol…

But if the full CC warrior is attacking with perma stun(and his high health) it will be a problem. Lol.

Oh… I have the same problem. I managed to get pretty high with a lots of wins last month. Usually played dailies only. 3 matches. 2 were wins. Atm losing 2 or 3 of 3. But I have to say game also is trolling me a bit atm. Often maps I don’t like. Almost never my favourite map. Leavers. Team composition bad(lot of useless classes in one team, lot of OP classes in other team).

It just happens… and after some time it probably will totally change again and I’ll get a lot of wins in a row instead.

Classes are not balanced. And the matchmaker often makes teams where 1 teams just loses because it has 3 or 4 of one class and can’t do anything cause more than 1 is bad(missing slots for more usefull classes). Or just the other way round: 4 or 5 of one OP class.

This is much more a problem than glory rank or stuff like that.

Make it more fun. Let me choose the map I want. Not 19 of 10 matches only 1 time my favourite map.

I’d rather prefer a “choose your map” queue. Getting trolled by the game atm and only getting maps I don’t like and my favourite map Temple is not popping up often.

If 3 of my team are at mid and 1 at close and the 3 mid are already getting pwned(dead and downed icons) I prefer not to run there to also get killed(not being able to do anything useful). Instead might be better to get to far point.

Anf if you 1 vs. 1 someone at far it also is not that bad… I mean there still are 4 left on each team. So no problem. Problem if you cap the empty point of course and others are fighting somewhere else and the enemy has 1 more guy there.

I really like to decap(cause this happens so fast and capping takes much longer) with CCing bunker guardian out of the point. Then a long fight were he can’t take the point back.

Close point is ours… so this should be win if others get mid or mit stays uncapped cause fighting there…. and since it is 1 vs. 1 at far point not a big problem(of course if kille enemies respawn it will but then again they are missing at mid or somewhere else).
