I can think of a couple of reasons not to allow such choice.
They set up the game engine without having mega-server in mind, just overflows. It’s possible the underlying structures either don’t allow for choice, or that adding choice would be too resource intensive for the benefit.
If everyone could see how many instances there were, players would have a better idea how many are playing. Mega-server as it is disguises how many.
aren’t those fogged out areas we can’t access actually the map areas from GW1? the homelands of the various factions or something like that. It would be cool if they could be accessible at some point though I agree.
There are some traditional reasons for sticking with the name as the identifying field:
It’s cheaper — storage isn’t an issue, but data transfer is (especially if you’re in Sydney playing a game with servers in Texas). One more field isn’t much, unless you consider all the different lookup transactions going on.
Are you sure that multiple utf8/utf16 values vs one int32/int64 value is cheaper?
I like it separate. Forum move fast some time and more easy to see post not about HoT this way. When I want to read about HoT thing I go to that forum. It take just one click to go there. Hope by next expansion Anet use new forum software with work search and hope also an ignore feature.
specially short story..story was always one of the most strongest aspect of gw universe and in my opinion story of gw2 is above average, but instead of focusing on better story telling which is longer and more detailed they went with mini games and raiding.
steam is full of such mini games and as matter of fact, many of them are better or same and you can buy them for 1$ or max 5$ or ton of them for 25$-30$ during steam sale.
i did not pay 50$ to get bunch of mini games, short story and raiding for game that advertised itself as non traditional and non raiding game.. after i spend over 3k hours into this game for last 3 years now it is changing direction towards bs.
and ncsoft numbers are the best proof that i am not alone.. as every one can see HOT did not sell as well as anet was hoping for.
basically q4 2015 anet made 31million$ with hot and gem sells, meaning around 300 to 400k player bought hot, that is shame and disappointment considering the core game so far according to anet itself sold 5 million copies(during of the pax, google the source yourself) , so less than 10% continued buying the game, such shame.
This whole presale strategy was a shame. I have not done it. And apparently many others.
Played this when it was the daily this past week. My methods for avoiding Lighting Pull still work.
When it is the daily I simply start a race, dance a little bit in place and get my daily.
Or I fall in the water and get my daily. Or do nothing and get my daily.
So basically I would put in a custom buy order for 250 of an item, however it would flip to “buy it now order” because 1-3 items over there matched or were lower than my custom buy order. However the rest of the 247-249 items would be significantly higher.

The boundaries of no-life are pushed to new horizons every month, event after event. It’s hard to say something good or bad about this, because soon will come another player and break this no-life record, and another player after that, and so on.

Honest Questions:
Was the GW1 district system a “megaserver”?
Is the megaserver the same district system and only hides the full count of districts/players?
We had full districts in GW1 we cant enter (“select another – its full”) and could select a low number to get a nearly full district or a high number for a nearly empty district.
I would prefer to TEST the new HOT game (test key for one weekend or 10 hours). I am a long time GW/GW2 player and my current feeling is to not purchase HOT for 50$.
Abaddaon was killed by a human why can’t a elder dragon be killed a mortal also. Even if a elder dragon is as big as mountain then we just dodge and move and hit until we crack that shell and stab the heart.
It happens very often that i’ll check on my sell order progress to find out that some random tp social justice warrior tried to bring the price real close to buy order price and i can’t help but facepalm as i know full well that it’ll be back to normal values next time i check. It baffles me even more when it’s in fast moving markets, I just don’t see the point. That being said, too bad for them, I know my markets and all they’re really doing is, well… nothing but lose out on potential gold gains.
I think this way they can lower the average price level.
After the weekend they can buy all the stuff for that low price and sell it later for a higher price.

I made my Twilight in round about one year without buying mats. Had no precursor drop luck. I don’t use the toilet and finally bought the pre on the TP.

Judging by today, I get the feeling these new zones will be southsun cove 2.0 soon enough… Only the die hard players trying to complete these reward tracks and gather hero points will occupy the zone in a month. Regardless of the hero point requirement for specializations, I think more and more players will drop like flies due to the grind, gates to achievements and group requirements throughout these zones. This will in turn lead to the following predictions…
Devs will drastically lower the required hero points for elite specs and make hero points account bound.
Champions guarding some hero points will be dropped down to elite so they can be soloed.
Zone event credit will be easier to achieve, and events and will be tuned down a lot.
Required mastery track xp will get lowered and have many unlock perks condensed.
The devs will design it so you can earned xp for any mastery track in any portion of the game.
Rewards will be greatly increased in an attempt to keep the zones populated.
Anyone else get the same impressions from today?
