Valkyrie armor is only available through crafting. If you’ve just leveled up, you may have a lot of the ingredients already. You will need to purchase the insignia recipe from the master crafter.
Run with your rare gear for a while until you can purchase or craft the stuff you want. You should be fine for a while.

The character bound rewards you don’t want to lose are the character bound daily chests in fractals.
Nothing about the gold find infusion will change it will just be harder to exploit it.
I see where you are coming from now, and there is no reasoning with people like you. If you see using the gilded infusion to run dungeons as an exploit then this whole conversation is a moot point.
So nice of everyone here to determine how it takes before people get their money’s worth out of an item. It isn’t up to anyone to determine how long it takes until I have got my money’s worth.
If you bought an unlimited use chop-it-all axe and they later changed it to not work all the time on all trees you would feel slighted. The item still functions, you have gotten plenty of use out of it, but the usefullness has changed.
Wow, tooltips don’t mention coin dropped by bosses so that must mean it doesn’t function that way? And tooltips tell you the whole story, huh?
People are/have bought the item because of the way it DOES function, not how the community has advertised it. This point holds no weight to the discussion.
The item functioned a certain way when purchased by players. Players inform themselves and then make informative purchases.
The functionality has NOT changed. It is NOT falsely advertised.
When you change a basic function of a game, like dungeon rewards, you are bound to have other consequences like make certain items a little useless and certain items more useful.
Your analogy with the DVD is flawed. YOU can not return the DVD. But if the store asked for the DVD back two weeks later and just says ‘you got your money’s worth’, this would not be acceptable. You purchased the DVD with the idea of keeping it in your collection until your girlfriend gets mad and throws it across the room at the wall. To have the store later change its mind and say, nope, it was a one time rental, please return will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
If the gilded infusion currently affects open world drops AND coin dropped from dungeon bosses and that is going to change to JUST open world drops and NOT dungeon bosses, than the usefullness (while not the basic function) has changed drastically since it’s release.
The percentage of coin generated from open world drops versus the percentage of coin generated from dungeon bosses is far less. No one with a straight face can try to claim open world coin drops come any where close to dungeon boss coin drops.
It really isn’t my interpretation, but it is fact. The usefullness of the item will change drastically.
And that IS Anet’s problem, because they are the ones who have created this issue. It’s very similar to the problem they are creating with removing MF, but that is a whole different topic.
I’ve seen the open world coin drop and I call BS. Coin drops in the open world are not that high, and the added 20% is miniscule on top of this. The 20% gold find was actually only useful for dungeon runs and looting the real coin drops from the bosses.
And they are not just for ‘abusing’ dungeons. Some people run many different paths of many dungeons and don’t just farm COF. Your personal opinion on whether or not farming COF is abusing the system is irrelevant.
While the function of the 20% gold find will remain, the actual usefullness and benefit of it has changed dramatically. When you change a whole reward system of a game, chances are certain things become obsolete (or less useful) and others become more useful.
I don’t care how long anyone has used their item, if the function of it or the usefulness of it is removed the purchaser should be entitled to some form of compensation.
How about we just take your zerker gear and say oh well? You’ve used it long enough, time to buy some more armor. Such ridiculous line of thinking.
The adds at Claw used to be farmed. They put a stop to that by nerfing the drops to pretty much nothing on them. I’m sure they won’t hesitate to do it again if need be.
Punish the masses!
I may have missed it, but has anybody seen what the stats on these new weapons will be? Not sure if they have been data mined yet or not.
This is a pretty good quality of life update along with a few other features on this patch.
Thanks a lot for it.
Supposedly determined the moment you kill the enemy.
This theory does not work according to the Devs. (He wants to kill things using zerker gear and open the bags later with MF gear on in hopes of getting better loot)
Might be a very good reason to head back to Orr.
I certainly hope they make it so that starter area champions can only drop lower tiered items while level 80 area champions drop the higher tiered cores/lodestones.
And the update notes do say a chance at rare crafting materials which is the lodestones/cores/slivers. Not the bloods/fangs/claws. I hope this is true, because this is even better news.
Just a note, I always just use the armor/weapons that drop for me while leveling. I don’t actually purchase anything until 80 when I want my final set of gear.
I have used some gear that I crafted. But that was just because I had it due to leveling up a craft.
You gain levels so fast in this game, it is not worth too much of an investment in gear at lower levels. You will quickly out level it.
The notes for the Queen’s Jubilee update says that champions will have rewards updated to have a chance at dropping rare crafting materials.
The T5/T6 most of you are talking about are considered fine crafting materials. Rare crafting materials include lodestones and cores (and lesser tiered equivalents).
I think we may see champions in starter areas dropping T1 rare crafting materials (Onyx Sliver, Corrupted Sliver..) and champions in level 80 areas like Orr have a chance to drop lodestones and cores.
Again, their wording sounds like this is for the lodestone/core issue and not the fine crafting materials like bloods/fangs/claws.
Good to know. Thanks.
Darn wiki is so outdated it seems. Might be causing some of the confusion.
I can understand the logic of skipping the champ in COE, but it might be another chance for a lodestone/core now. Might be worth the fight depending on the actual drop rate.
I guess everyone already forgot about Colin’s blog, that was released 8 days ago…
To encourage players to participate in a wider array of dungeon content, we’ve designed the system so if you complete the same dungeon path twice in one day, you’ll receive the normal reward for completion, but won’t receive the bonus gold reward again during that day.
If you read it carefully it says you only get the reward once. The normal reward for completing the dungeons can be obtained at least twice.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
To be fair, you really don’t no if he is talking about running the same path on the same character or running the same path on ANY character.
I guess maybe the key here is to make sure you run the sparks before the 60-65% mark or else she will revert back to stage 1.
If she reverts to stage 1, she will again stealth at the 50% mark no matter how long it has been, even if that is only a few seconds? Makes a little more sense.
An endless cycle of stage 1 → stage 2 → stage 1 if you are not fast enough with the sparks.
I think the information about the phases resetting at around the 60% mark is the key here and is missing from a lot of guides/tutorials.
Seems like if your party doesn’t have high enough DPS, the best strategy is to DPS her to 50%, pull four sparks and place them into place while leaving the fifth alone, let her regen up to 75% and reset, then DPS her to 50%, run last spark, DPS her like crazy so she has no chance of regenerating up to 60% (Strategy is listed in the wiki).
Thanks for all the useful videos and posts. A true vet giving back.
So, once phase 2 starts at the 50% mark you will be working with the 45 second window.
If you are slow with the sparks, and Simin’s health reaches 60-65% range again, she reverts back to phase 1 and nulifies the 45 second window?
Then once you get her to 50% again to start phase 2, the window ‘may’ be screwed up due to the reset?
I wonder if the effect polishing they are referring too is more to reduce bandwidth and server load than it is to please the players. They have said a main issue with reducing PvE culling is bandwidth and they needed to find a way to reduce it.
I’m all for toning down some of these effects at the large encounters, but I hope they have done this right.
I’m not trying to beat a dead horse or anything, but watching that video it seems that they do a 30 second (roughly) spark pull to replicate the issue. If they do a 30 second spark pull and only have 3 seconds to DPS, that doesn’t add up to the 45 second window they should have had?
I must be missing something here, or it is just not clicking in my brain yet. If you are supposed to have a 45 second window how is a 30 second spark pull followed by a 3 second DPS window (around 33 seconds total, not 45) not a bug?
If the rewards are going to be fairly nice, then I can understand the account bound part. Puts it inline with their philosphy dealing with world bosses also.
But it really sucks for ALTs because currently people can run a path for full rewards on any character they have once per day. Now it might be once per account?
I kind of understand if it is account bound, but that is sad. Currently you can run a path with all your ALTs for max rewards at least once a day.
Stealth to stealth after she goes at 50% should be 45 seconds. If you get anything other than that, video evidence is needed. It will throw off the timer if you take longer than 45 seconds, but that would mean an exceptionally kittened up/buggy spark run.
This might explain why the bug appears sometimes. PUGs often are bad/slow or have to reset just to regroup and may take longer than the 45 seconds. This might be throwing the timer off.
My first time through with the guild, we were slow, stopped, regrouped while we searched for strategies. Maybe we threw the timer off because we definately experienced the bug where we were not given a 45 second window.
Might explain why pros can’t really replicate the problem because they are too fast and already know the strategy and thus are probably not likely to go over the 45 second timer.
The sad thing is, if this is the case it is hurting new runners of the path the hardest while vets are not even noticing.
It’ll be hard to get video of this. Doubtful new PUGs are taping their first run.
Will be able to make 4 gold for the first hour easy. Lots of easy, quick paths out there.
Just wonder if this is per account or per character.
If you were getting only 5-10 seconds to DPS, your Spark pulls were most likely too slow.
The wiki and all the sources I have read say there is a 45 second window on the stealth. Is this still true or has this changed?
Only asking because that appears to be the issue. It appears some are having a problem with the time to run sparks and the time to DPS not adding up to any where near 45 seconds. More like 20 seconds or less total in some cases.
no more farming CoF?
The farmers will find some thing new soon … (I could see CoF1-2, CoE 1-3, CM 1-3, AC1-3 speed run parties now)
Don’t forget about HOTW P1, SE P1,P3, TA U,FF
It really is tough for a sub-optimal DPS group when it might take them 10-15 seconds on the sparks, and then she turns invisible again less than 5 seconds after appearing.
Healing for 10-15 seconds and 5 seconds of DPS on a non-DPS focused group is not going to win it here.
Is the cycle between the start of invis, running the sparks, her turning back visible, to turning invisible again all supposed to last 45 or 54 seconds? Meaning the faster you run sparks, the more time you have to DPS. If so, this is not happening all the time.
Why in the world do they nerf every spot that drops T6, only to realize later that there is a problem? And then their solutin, introduce a NEW was to obtain T6.
Instead of introducing new ways to obtain T6, how about you revert all their original sources back to the way they were? There was already good spots in game for T6 before they were systematically nerfed.
Destroy one part of the game, create a problem, then add something new to compensate. Makes zero sense.
To be fixed in the next ‘regular’ update. Evidently not important enough to hot fix.
How do you know this ? Is it official ? Or your guess ?
There was an official response in another thread. Probably bug reports.
Edit: found it

Thanks for linking that. That is exactly what I was referring to. Just passing along the info.
Up to 77% world completion on my ALT now. Those two gifts of exploration needed for my next two legendaries is reward enough.
I’m so looking forward to the reward at the end of the personal story again….
I despise that the ‘official’ source of information in game is a user-editted wiki. So many things can be, and have been, wrong in a wiki.
Not having a true, official source of documentation and info is purely lazy and there really is no reason for it.
If I want to look at a user editted wiki, fine I can. But if I want official info, there should be a source for that.
You need to represent the guild in order to participate in a guild mission. Otherwise you just get karma and exp rewards of a regular event.
This is correct. If you are not representing the guild and help on the mission you will only get karma and exp.
Ok, so question number 1: If she goes above 60% health when healing then she can’t go below 50% again?
Addressing Point number 1: We often got the sparks in before she hit 53% or 54%. When she would reappear it would, literally, take 5-10 seconds before she would re-invulnerable at exactly 50%. Not one pixel lower. After two hours of trying this boss we got very good at getting the sparks in.
Sounds like a pretty accurate description of what my party experienced when we ran it a while back. Just kept going invuln and healing at 50%. Never ending cycle for a long time. Didn’t seem to matter how fast we got the sparks in.
They nerfed the drop rate of corrupted lodestones in Frostgorge months ago. Used to be able to reliably farm 1 about every 20-30 minutes. Now you are lucky to get one every 1-1.5 hours.
HOTW is better for getting glacial lodestones/cores, though corrupted CAN be found there.
Like everything else in the game right now, there is no good spot for them.
Gold if by far the easiest method of obtaining T6.
You can farm T6, but it will be a slow journey. The usual spots have all been heavily nerfed.
The only thing that reliably drop any more are the new support tokens.
I really don’t know what they are thinking with the direction they are taking this economy.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bluestone/Explorer
Use that link to find your missing area.
Map completion and explorer achievements are two seperate items and getting 100% map completion does NOT give you all the explorer achievements. You may still be missing a few areas not required for map completion.
To be fixed in the next ‘regular’ update. Evidently not important enough to hot fix.
Ever since a couple updates ago, loot drops have changed dramatically for me and I no longer get rares like I used to.
After the most recent update, I am stuck getting these ‘support tokens’ instead of the real rares in the loot table. Also still getting ‘kite fortunes’ instead of rares.
Is this a bug or have real rares been removed from the loot table?
I appreciate the current activity of the devs, but don’t focus on PvP only. If you don’t care about PvE at all you lose 90% of your playerbase. PvE makes the game, PvP is only an important feature.
It’s quite obvious every update to the classes are made to balance them in PvP. Meanwhile, they make them broken or worse in PvE.
Eh, it’s a very very easy animation to spot, on top of seeing a line going towards you. I can understand in WvW, but then again there is so much going on in there it is hard to ready any of that stuff. You can dodge it, it is not undodgeable.
Got to quote this.
Obvious animation and relatively long cast time for a skill that has the sole effect of pulling an enemy – unlike the other skills mentioned.
And while we do have the other skills in the kit, they don’t come cheap – we’ve got a single weapon slot and main weapon damage is nerfed in account of our versatility, according to the class balance philosophies in the 14 december patch. And by the way, grenades are also inconsistent (in that they have no proper autoattack). I assume those will be fixed as well soon, then.
Typical example of engineers being charged opportunity tax like 6 different times in a completely inconsistent way. We’ve already paid heavily for our kits.
Versatility is always quoted as the reason when a change/nerf comes along but as you point out, they seem to have forgotten we are already paying a pretty high ‘versatility tax’.
It’s like they really don’t understand the penalties we were given and want to include more penalties while trying to ‘balance’ the class.
They really need to look at the class as a whole and see what ‘tax’ is already being paid for being so versatile before penalizing us even more.
That first 100 point achievement chest also contained a 10 slot bag (once the chest itself was open). If you don’t have the chest in inventory, maybe you have this bag? That might be an indication you opened it and don’t remember.
The 500 point chest is listed as your next reward so you should get that tomorrow after daily reset. It should appear in the lower right the same way a daily chest shows up.
Possible you got the chest on an ALT also?
The OP might be a symptom of the real problem. While RNG is RNG, some people in this game appear to be lucky, very lucky in some cases, while others appear to be unlucky, and very unlucky in some cases.
It really almost appears that some accounts get the loot they are supposed to consistantly, while others are not getting it. I’m still not convinced there is not a deep down, hidden bug that is preventing some from getting good loot.
Only option is to try to file a ticket and see what happens.
And search is broken. Has been for quite some time. They can’t even get that feature working.
Going on the one year mark and no progress has been made in regards to legendaries and hobo sacks on the Engie. And no hope in sight.
Quip isn’t bad on my engie, but you just don’t see it most of the time.
Frenzy, bugs out way too much and has no real special effects for the projectiles or anything. Really needs to be polished. And taking away MF will now take away my number one reason for underwater farming and probably render my Frenzy even more useless than it already was.
As much farming as I do with 200%+ MF, I can say for certain that these event items are replacing regular rare drops.
I believe these things have been added to the rare drop table with a higher drop chance than other rares. If you are lucky enough to ‘roll’ a rare drop, you are then probably unlucky enough to get this from the loot table.
I really am so sick of all these event items infecting all the loot tables. I have been sick of these things since the dragon coffers infected every loot table in the game.
It was already hard enough to get any good loot from this game. Now it is nearly impossible. I take these ‘rare’ voting items and just hit ‘DESTROY’. Totally worthless.
I wish I had known about this BEFORE buying a second RROD…
There should be a sticky about this.
And this sticky would’ve helped you ? And the hundred threads of complaining did not ?
The should also be a sticky explaining what “greatsword” means. I bought two but it didn’t let me equip them …
To be fair, this is a big difference between understanding what a greatsword is and what unique means in this game.
Players that come from other MMOs seem to grasp the concept of unique and what it is intended to mean without a second thought.
It is usually newer players to MMOs that do not fully understand what the term unique means in this game. And it is NOT their fault. The game does a poor job explaining this.
They really should have introduced some lower level items that were unique and made it part of the tutorial for each character just so everyone understood what it meant. Not introduce a totally new term/feature to the game at end game.
With the new feature of rotating team colors in WvW, getting map completion has become a lot easier. Just wait a little while and your server will eventually be red, blue, and green different weeks. Just grab everything you can, when you can.
Off times are great for gathering those few hard to reach points/vistas.
And even ET should have no problem getting map completion. The only hard thing to achieve would be stonemist. And hopefully even ET gets stonemist once in a while.
I’m on FC, the next lowest tier server, and I was easily able to get 100% WvW map completion on an ALT the last few weeks. We take stonemist very rarely, but when we did I jumped on the chance to grab the points/vistas. The rest was just a waiting game for us to draw the right color.
I can confirm that the one time I did P4 with some guildies, she bugged out. We had bad spark runs, but on spark runs that took us around 10 seconds, we only had about 4 seconds to DPS her. This went on for what seemed like forever.
Just confirming that I have seen her bug out and not give you the full time ‘window’ to DPS her. This was our first time through and at the time she was fairly recently revamped so we were not sure if it was a bug or not. Now, I am convinced it was.
