My complaint with the PVP rewards is that I am getting items that are unusable by my class and they are soulbound. I can’t even transfer to an ALT.
That means they are totally useless.
Why can’t they guarantee equipment that you could at least use like they do the profession boxes bought with laurels?
Some of the new achievement chests will give you a box of PVP equipment as part of the reward.
Why in the world would it give me stuff I can not even use? When I open the box, I get six (believe it was six) pieces of exotic skins for use in PVP.
At least half of the pieces are items I can not use with my class and they were soulbound.
Is there no way to ensure you get equipment you can use, like they do for the profession boxes bought with laurels?
Just seems silly to give me items that I have no other choice but to destroy because I can not use them and they are soulbound so I can not transfer to an ALT.
Wait.. the races give money now? Did some races the first day and I don’t recall getting any coin. Maybe it was patched?
Seriously Vol? Save some precursors for the rest of us. :P
MF those exotics with other exotics if you can. Use the MF stones as a substitute for one of the exotics in the recipe.
Just vendor those spineguards. Evidentally, they will never fix them. I had a bank tab at one point thanks to fractals.
You really have ascended accesories you are not using? Wow… anyways, I’d store them.
While I agree with the sentiment that this is WvW and if you don’t want to fight don’t come here, getting their rears handed to them by ‘griefers’ is in no way shape or form going to encourage anyone to stick around and play WvW. Just the opposite I think.
There is definitely some amount of truth to that, but I’d hesitate to say that much of what is going on in the JP is griefing, it is more that people unused to WvW are coming into a much deadlier map than they are accustomed to. That is the risk you take.
Just to make myself clear, I was not calling these people griefers. I was just trying to say that there are a lot of people that look at this behaviour as ‘griefing’.
And there is some truth to be had to that term to be fair. Camping a jumping puzzle or camping a spawn can certainly be considered griefing. Personally, I find it all part of the game and am OK with it.
My point was, herding PvE players into a ‘much deadlier map’ and having those players experience this type of play is not going to encourage many to stick around. It just leaves a bad taste in their mouth.

Use this if it is the explorer achievement. Being you referenced the Shiverpeaks area specifically, this is probably the case. Cross reference everything listed to what you have found.
Map completion and explorer achievement are two totally different things. 100% map completion does not yield all the explorer achievements!
While I agree with the sentiment that this is WvW and if you don’t want to fight don’t come here, getting their rears handed to them by ‘griefers’ is in no way shape or form going to encourage anyone to stick around and play WvW. Just the opposite I think.
Pretty sure Quip doesn’t have any affect on other kits/abilities. I think the Predator did at one time (or still does) for a kit or two. But I have not noticed it for Quip personally.
And I have never tried it in the offhand. I believe a lot of effects for off-hand legendaries do not work. Meaning, if you have it equipped in your off hand then the special added effects don’t work. But I’d have to try that out later tonight after I get home to see.
Not sure if I’d go for dual legendary pistols, but if that is your thing than good luck! You might just be the first to do that.
Currently, since I love underwater combat so much, I’m in the process of making Frenzy. Probably only two-three weeks out on that. I love underwater combat and figured it would get more use than a Predator. Plus I really love the way it looks. (And the Flameseeker Prophecies just doesn’t go with my character).
I’m an Engineer and feel your overall pain.
But I do believe that ALL weapons types will be available. Not just the five listed in the chest preview.
Hobosacks infuriates me way more than legendary issues. I’m fine with my Quip only being visible about 25% of the time. I can live with that. Wish it would change, but it is something that I have learned to live with.
I HATE not being able to sport any type of backpiece.
But those issues are a whole different topic!
Technically, the Golem is the world boss on this map.
But this fight is so awesome and deserving of a daily chest! It was brought up some time ago, shortly after the introduction of daily chests. A dev acknowledged it and said they would look into it (and asked for other events where a daily chest might be warranted).
Sadly, no progress on getting a daily chest for this event. Maybe they looked at it and decided to keep it as is. For such an epic and chained out event, it should warrant a daily chest imho.
I avoid the event right now because the risk/time is not worth the reward.
I’d personally love to see some more underwater areas in the future. They seem to have forgotten about this added aspect of the game while focusing heavily on the jumping aspect of the game.
It’s true, some classes are better at underwater combat than others. But what is interesting, it appears some of the lesser preffered classes (ranger and engineer) are better at underwater combat than others. Honestly, it would be nice to have a niche in the game where these two classes out perform the others. Currently, there is no where in game where this is true and they usually are kitten in comparison to other classes.
So, I really don’t think a ‘balance’ is in order before this can be achieved. Unless there are some serious underwater issues that I am not aware of for other classes.
Enough with the jumping puzzles…. show some underwater love!!
Check gw2spidy.com for the current and historical data on these items.
You are looking at the 1500-2000 gold range.
A perma-stealth thief who is keeping 3 opposing players busy is doing his server a service.
3 players who get held up by one thief are wasting time they could be doing something more productive for their server.
2 players who leave the thief be to play by himself while they carry on with more important tasks are doing their server a service.
Both sides did what they should have for the sake of their servers. Kudos to the thief for trying to hold up 3 opponents and kudos to the 2 FC for being smart enough to leave him be.
It is not condition damage.
Might stacking seems to be the preferred method of dealing the most DPS. Hence the popularity of the HGH nades build.

Use this and cross reference everything listed to what you have discovered. You will find the two missing culprits soon enough!
Wow, one spot in Rata Sum is the last thing you need for your legendary? Amazing! (Early congrats btw)
It wasn’t in the hotfix last night. It’ll be fixed, just a matter of time now.
Yeah, they didn’t make it clear that the first chest was a 100 point chest and nearly everyone had the same question.
Looking forward to the 1000 point chest later today. Then the next 10 days until I get caught up!
For DPS, no other class except warriors.
Warriors can be better when surrounded by other supporting classes that help keep the warrior off his back.
But for pure DPS, warrior hands down. My zerked out Engie puts out what I would call a joke DPS compared to that of a warrior. But my Engie can put out respectable DPS while offering some decent support.
You really won’t bring the DPS a warrior would bring to a dungeon, but an Engie makes a really good support character for a dungeon team.
You can bring a respectable amount of DPS, while bringing a lot of valuable support tools to the team. Engie is not the most sought after class for dungeons, but you can be very successful and very useful on any dungeon team.
But as someone mentioned, it seems there isn’t something we do that someone else can’t do better. We are just able to do a lot of things well. Just not one thing extremely well.
I believe grenades are still the highest DPS we have and pistols still only do mediocre damage.
Very fun to play still, just not going to get the high DPS unless you are running a HGH Nades build.
The ‘paper’ turrets are still worthless and one of the most broken things about the class currently.
Hmm… this is interesting.
Might make a good MF set. The old MF set might have to be retired. Though, probably too pricey just for a MF set.
Actually, I am quite impressed with the rewards from these chests. While most of the the 100 point chest was worthless to me, I can see their use to newer, lower level characters.
And nice PvP armor (even though I don’t PvP) and 100 WvW badges in the 500 point chest was a very nice touch.
Along with all the boosters, revive orbs, and repair canisters you can’t go wrong. (Not to mention the mystic forge stones)
These chests are really well done in my opinion. Just trash the useless stuff and be happy with the good stuff.
I don’t personally care for the new armor skins either but it doesn’t bother me. They are a reward that I will probably never use, but I will not complain.
The rewards from these achievement chests seem pretty well done imho. At least they give you SOME choice in your weapon and a little choice in your armor skins. Better than the forced back piece skins they have been giving out.
I understand your point about more choice. But, even though I will probably never use the armor skins I still think the rewards are well done and are fine as is. This isn’t the first time they have ‘forced’ a certain reward on us.
Besides, those weapon skins are going to be common enough anyways. No need to have everyone unlock every single one of them.
As an Engie, I could be complaining about the weapon skins. I’m nearly always in kits so the weapon skins are nearly useless to me as well. And an Engie only has access to 3 weapons including the shield anyways. Maybe they should give me the choice of armor skins instead of weapon skins? Just think about all those useless weapon skins I will be unlocking. Only point here is, even though they are useless it is still a nice reward for the masses.
It is real. I have it on my Engie. The noise can make you want to put it to your own head some days!
I first thought I would hate that gun before I made it. Now it has grown on me and I think it is the best party gun ever made.
No need to pick me out of the crowd at Jormag… you can hear if I am there.
One chest per day until caught up. If you have over 2000 points, it will take several days to get your chests caught up.
Hit the [Show] button for each map listed under Shiverpeaks Explorer. Then cross reference every single place listed to ones you have discovered.
Your missing one is in there somewhere.
Most farming spots for T6 materials have been nerfed. Only good spot, it appears, left in the game for this is Southsun.
And CoF farming is probably the most efficient way to make gold, but CoE is VERY profitable if you learn the Subject Alpha fight. Can be nearly or more profitable than CoF, more dependant on RNG.
That theory makes sense and is probably the reason I didn’t see any pirates on my server last night.
Sigh… should have checked into it sooner as this broken mechanic prevented me from finishing more of the achievements. Too late now I believe.
Farm gold and buy them.
Farm CoE to get cores and the occasional lodestone and gold to buy more.
Farming sparks at an uncontested temple of Dwayna is another option, but not very productive.
No way to tell last login. I’ve tried to figure it out and can’t.
Sister guilds would not have access to the main guild’s bank or any other influence/buffs from the main guild. For obvious reasons.
Honestly, no good answers to give you that I know of.
Don’t like seeing Dulfy’s name thrown around like this because I have not seen any indication she has done anything wrong. But I understand her name is one of the most visible out there, so that is why it is used.
As I said in a different thread, I am concerned about the potential for people with access to the ‘live server’ and early information using this information for their own or their friend’s advantage.
I have seen nothing as of yet to indicate that this is happening or is happening. I am just concerned that the potential exists.
The scale of the investments does not really matter if you are talking about abusing early information. Just because an investment is not as profitable as others, does not mean it is not wrong or harming to the economy if it was an investment made with ‘insider’ knowledge.
But please be careful when using names like Dulfy. She has done nothing that warrants any kind of light to be shined on her name and provides a good service to the community. Don’t call her out just because her name is very well known.
Yeah, I just wonder sometimes if those who have access to the ‘Live Server’ and get early access to some of the information are using that information to their/their friend’s advantage.
Not accusing anyone of anything, but could be a little ‘insider information’ type of thing if people are profitting from early knowledge of things like this.
Haven’t seen anything to indicate that this is happening, just commenting on the potential.
Before last night’s reset, tried running around to holo projecters to finish some of the Pirate Slayer achievements.
Ran to over 50 holos with no pirates spawning at any of them. It was at this point I figured it was futile.
Was this feature turned off prior to the reset last night? Could not finish these achievements because I have been able to see pirates in a lot of the listed maps this entire time.
Managed to camp the JP cache in Metrica to finish one last achievement for the meta, but I shouldn’t have to resort to that.
What is most disturbing about this is that it has been bugged since launch, documented, and reported, yet they seem to know nothing of the bug and procede to place new content at the end of the JP.
Dailies, Monthlies, TP. That’s it.
Is there any dungeon out there that has an encounter that requires/better off with a ranger, engineer, or necro?
There are quite a few encounters that are set up for one of the ‘holy trinity’ classes of GW2. Sadly, the ranger, engie, and necro don’t have a niche in dungeon play it appears atm. To bring one of these 3 classes in your group actually lessens the efficiency of the group. A game should not be designed this way.
This encounter is another example.
^ This is probably going to be the case because that is how it works currently.
It would be nice if they added something like an NPC in the game that could extract infusions for a price without destroying the amulet/accessory. That way you could upgrade your item and keep the infusion.
Lol. You just made me feel better about myself. I though I was a bad hoarder. :P
And just think, I don’t really see any dungeon tokens. Those thing clog up my bank tabs.
And yes, it does suck that I have to sometimes destroy an one time event item because I am not using it and need the space.
I play an Engie.
And I must admit, the Ranger is currently worse off than us. I think we Engies might be second place, but Rangers hold the prize right now.
A major balance patch for the Engies and they don’t really touch the broken turrets just tells me that they don’t even know the current state of this class or how broken turrets are. End Rant
All these new backpieces that go very well with my Engie’s hobo sacks. :’(
Always cry a little inside every time I see they have a new back piece reward. Totally useless on an Engie.
Unlimited quartz node access! That sounds so great… except it doesn’t. Unless they address the potential for ALT abuse, this should be a big no go.
Too many like to abuse and create ALTs, mine, and then rinse and repeat. I will always say NO to allowing this type of behavior in game.
Maybe it has some use in PVP. There seems to be some wisdom in the interrupt logic here.
But in PVE and WVW, pretty useless. It might be more useful if the cooldown on #3 wasn’t so long.
I must be clueless too because Engineer down state is horrible and = almost certain death.
Why in the world do I want to pull my enemy right next to me? Who else does this? Ridiculous.
Throw junk? More like spit at my enemy based on the amount of damage. If you thought Engie DPS was bad while you were on both feet, just wait until you are on your back.
And booby trap? Please.. way too long to activate and then very lackluster if you ever get a chance to get it off. Which is usually not that often. You are already 5 and a half feet in the ground by the time you get to use this skill.
Piles of Putrid Essences. With all the new planned content, it can’t be that hard to come up for a use for these.
Well, you really aren’t being ‘punished’ if you can’t mine it with 6-15 alts. You just are not being rewarded. Nothing ‘punishing’ about it.
Unless they place a level restriction, they run the risk of ALT abuse if they character bind it. People will create an ALT, mine, rinse, repeat.
As long as they address THIS issue, I personally have no problem with someone benefiting from 6-15 ALTs. Especially since the unlock will be a meta achievement. This should unlock for all characters. As long as the abuse potential is addressed.
But for the love of all that is holy, please quit claiming it is punishment! Just because you don’t get the opportunity to get more of something doesn’t mean you are being punished.
New bugs every two weeks. Yay!
Let’s be fair, though. That was a pretty good reward for the end chest, considering it was NOT random to get it.
Add in the fact that there are three other chests in the puzzle, and maybe that was a bit much?
Not able to TP. Not able to salvage. Low vendor price. Bad stats for most. In other words, it is totally useless. Except for the few who like those stats.
No, this is not a good reward.
Honestly, I’d take a random rare like I get from the world bosses over this any day. At least I can salvage or sell those for more. Now THAT would be an OK reward.
For those that say doing content more ‘level appropriate’ is the most fun, you have to realize that you will eventually need to do the other 4 starter zones (Map level 1-15).
Personally, I’d rather do all the level 1-15 zones while I am still lower in levels then having to come back at level 80 and clear these zones. Based on your responses, this would be more fun this way
.
But either moving on to another 1-15 zone or moving up to a 15-25 zone you will be fine. Whichever brings you the most enjoyment.
And thanks for that info Mercury. It’s been a while, so I forgot about the PVP tutorial isle. But this trick is really handy once players move past it to say cost on Waypoints which will get expensive at higher levels.
