It won’t be fixed quickly… they have known about this for a little while now.
Not necessary for the wings. But it is necessary for the achievement.
And there are a lot of OCD players out there.
Where is the long awaited hobo sack fix for engineers?
Colin Johanson acknoledged the issue in this thread over 2 months ago:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Problems-with-Engineers-and-Legendaries/page/3
“It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.
“We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, spectator mode and so on but this issue is absolutely on our radar.
As always, please post your ideas of what you’d like to see solution wise, we love to see the fun ideas y’all come up with too!"
It seems the resources that could be working on solutions to issues like kits/skins were in fact NOT reassigned to higher priority and wider reaching issues.
We have seen a multitude of new skins come out over the last two months. Am I to believe there is time for new weapon skins and new back pieces but not time for a hobo sack fix?
Not only are we Engineers still being ignored and brushed under the rug, we are getting all this new content and new skins that we STILL can not enjoy.
New weapon skins are almost useless with our access to 3 weapons and these weapons being hidden the majority of the time due to kits.
New back pieces are useless with the big hobo sack issue that renders back pieces garbage while in a kit.
I can not even enjoy any of the new content, because the new rewards only rub salt into an old wound.
You obviously have resources available to work on skins. Do the right thing and allocate some time to get the hobo sack issue fixed finally. Do this BEFORE allocating resources to designing new skins once again.
Complaining about RNG of new skins? Try playing an Engineer and you will soon care less because skins are pretty much useless.
You only have access to 3 weapons, rifle, pistol, shield, and these are hidden a vast majority of the time due to kits.
All these new backpiece skins are nice, but then you realize they are utterly useless because, once again, of kits and the ‘hobo sacks’ that accompany kits.
So what do you get to look forward to as an Engineer when new content comes out? New back skin? New weapon skins? Or, just the next inevitable nerf.
And to be told by staff months ago that these issues can’t be fixed because resources were being directed to ‘higher priority’ and ‘wider reaching’ issues only to watch these resources design more new greatsword skins. It is getting exhausting at this point.
Must be a bunch of blind employees at this company.
All I ever hear is ‘We are looking into it.’ and then nothing.
Blame ANet by forcing PvP down the throats of those who do not want to do it thus making the experience worse for the PvPers who do enjoy it and want to do it.
Keep looking. You will find a guild and group of players that fit you and your playstyle soon enough.
If you are in a guild that is not meeting your needs, move on to another one that might!
To be fair to others who have made this mistake, there really is no indication of what the word ‘unique’ actually implies in the game.
From my understanding, if you come from other MMOs you might know what this is intended to mean. But if you don’t, one would not intuitively just assume it means you can only use/equip one of them.
New classes?
How about fixing the current classes? There are major issues with a few classes still that need to be addressed.
I have a feeling Engineer was rushed out the door, and is still not feeling any love almost a year later.
And if you don’t have the reward system done yet that you intend to implement for these areas, why in the world would you go ahead and change the events to make them harder now? These changes should have waited until the rewards were ready also.
How about next time, you make the rewards better first, then you go and make the events more challenging later.
Weekend ‘Pact Rallies’ in Orr would be cool. A stacking magic find bonus for each temple taken during the rally, then this ‘Boost’ would last for the week until the next weekend, when the Risen ‘rally’ back and retake the temples. Rinse repeat.
During the weekdays it could just be Orr as usual, though I’m not sure a simple magic find boost will fix the loot issues in the zone. Honestly it’s really kittened up, so many ‘exploited/over farmed’ events have been so utterly neutered that mobs simply don’t have drops, let alone good ones.
Not that your idea is an entirely bad idea or anything, but weekend only stuff like this does not help everyone. There is a big player base that plays only during the week, just as there is a big player base that plays mainly on the weekends. There is no reason to exclude or shun one of these player bases.
There is a reason no one is going back to Southsun right now to do the Karka Queen.
You guys should step back, analyze this, and regroup. This place is still pretty barren, and it is not the new content’s fault. Crazy hard fights with rewards not worth the time/effort.
And who wants to kill a champ for a guaranteed blue? Again, not worth the time.
The big Karka event started on a mid Sunday afternoon on the east coast of the US. Somewhere around 3-4 pm EST if I remember correctly.
I think I know the issues with the Engineer profession now, they are paying the 1 intern 14k a year to balance it and fix the bugs.
ANet exec: “Wait.. what!?! There is an Engineer profession? Oh ****! We might want to take a look at that one day. But first, make me some more greatsword skins!”
Tried this twice over the weekend. First time, we kept wiping but eventually came up with a strategy. Unfortunately, we had been at it so long and the party leader had to go.
Tried it again yesterday and started off about the same. Switched to the strategy we learned the day before and we got it after a couple tries. Only thing that seems to work is have 1 or 2 kite the enitre mob of spiders around the tree while the others DPS the tree. It is slow, painful, and gruelsome. Too many spiders and too much HP on the boss. Fix one or the other.
For now, I would suggest trying to have someone kite the entire mob of spiders while the rest DPS.
They DID look into the salvage bug and the DID fix it. No one is arguing that.
But they are STILL ignoring bugs that are being documented by players. Just because they do not acknowledge them or investigate them does not mean they don’t exist.
The engineer scope bug was just fixed about two patches ago I believe. That information had to be forced down their throats before they would even start to believe it was broken.
Yeah… they have no history of denying a loot drop bug and then MONTHS later finally owning up to finding an ‘issue’ where everyone was not getting the loot they were entitled to.
As a matter of fact… I do believe the devs referred to that as “an X-File level conspiracy” long before actually discovering the problem. What an insult to the player base that was.
And they were honorable enough to admit they were wrong. The next time someone posted real evidence that there was a problem, it was immediately picked up and investigated, and the bug was fixed in a day or so.
It’s called learning from your mistakes. So when people keep crying “DR bug! Loot bug!” without posting evidence and no dev comes in to say “we are investigating this issue” then it leads me to think that there is no issue to investigate.
Disagree? Prove it.
You keep on doing that. No posts by a dev means no problem. Right.
Just like the Engineer scope bug that was reported for MONTHS. Then, when a dev finally posts about it, it is to simply state there is nothing wrong with it but the players just don’t understand how underwhelming it is. After some MORE documented evidence of the bug, it was finally acknowledged and then fixed.
I don’t know HOW many times it was documented and proved, but the only response after months was that the players were wrong and didn’t understand it. The devs were actually clueless to the issue.
But you keep on believing that no Dev posts about looking into an issue than no issue exists. Their track record is not very good, in my book.
Salvagin ectos into dust was a good bandaid to a bigger problem. It solves the immediate situation, but does not address the real problem of the drop rate of the dust.
Having the new dragon coffers drop from EVERY mob all over the map is not a welcome surprise for me. There literally is NO getting away from them if you do not want them. They have infected the loot table and are hampering my abilities to get actual loot.
If I wanted to hide out from the event and run dungeons, I am stuck getting these ‘crap’ dragon coffers there too. It is just WAY too much. I do not want to see another one.
And as far as the wings.. farmable? That is almost laughable. Who in the world could farm 100,000 pieces of candy? Talk about a grind. I highly doubt that is reasonably possible.
Not that I really care about the wings, because as an Engineer who still has his class ignored, most skins are utterly useless. We were told as Engineers that fixes to the ‘hobo sacks’ and other kit skin issues would have to wait because developer resources were being used for ‘higher priority’ fixes and ‘wider reaching’ issues. Come to find out, what they meant was their developer talent was being used to develop more skins for everyone else.
Then, to add insult to injury, I am forced to see these darn dragon coffers no matter where I go. Not a safe place in the game. It literally is like salt in a wound to me every time I pick one up.
After the last fiasco involving a bug to the ecto salvage rates, it is fair for someone to come here and simply ask others if they are experiencing the same poor luck as he is.
No need to bash the man, just acknowledge that you are not experiencing the decrease in the salvage rate as he has seen and move on.
No reason for anyone to salvage 1000+ rares just on a hunch that a bug may have been introduced. If a lot of people had started to claim that they were experiencing the same issue, then it would be a good time to start documenting.
The same people who always quickly chime in and say RNG is RNG are the ones who doubted the last salvage bug, the ones who doubted there was a loot drop bug that was eventually semi-confirmed.
If an engineer breaks a pinata with a kit equipped, the kit is then unequiped and the player is kicked back to his main weapon.
This guild rush was challenging when it was designed and went live. The wurm event made it difficult, but not impossible.
The addition of the settelement at Steampipe Steading and the almost never ending settlement event there has made this rush very near impossible.
The settelement event by itself is extremely hard without a zerg.
This route has been drastically altered and changed since it’s inititial design due to the new settlement and accompanying event. This rush needs to have the end redesigned or the rush itself should be removed from the current rotation.
It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.

Focused on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching? Like creating more skins for Dragon Bash and the Southsun living story?
I wouldn’t be so upset if you were actually utilizing these resources for higher priority things. But instead, you are just ignoring the Engineer and using these resources to create more skins for every other class.
At this point, it is obvious the Engineer is just plain getting ignored. Anything and everything is classified as ‘higher priority’. And since Engineer is probably the least played class, everything else is classified as ‘wider reaching’.
No.. the price jump on dust was due to an exploitable broken event being shut down.
All the farmers relocating to Southsun for the month did not help, but it was not the major factor in the price jump.
Hmm… maybe they said they didn’t WANT you to farm. Not that you would never have to.
That seems more fitting.
There are some things in the game you can ONLY get by farming. Obviously they want you to farm.
I didn’t mean there were not things that needed to be farmed or that farming was bad.
I just meant it is obvious by their constant nerfing that they really don’t want you to farm.
Been having the same thing happen lately.
Just confirming.
Typical ANet love for the engineer.
It’s like they just don’t ignore us, but give us the finger as well.
New Jade weapons!?! Awesome.. because my engineer can use how many… oh… that’s right. And it will be seen for how long? Oh… that’s right.
So why should an engineer even bother with any of this nonsense?
Hmm… maybe they said they didn’t WANT you to farm. Not that you would never have to.
That seems more fitting.
Simple truth: the reward to risk/time factor for Arah is not on par with some dungeons like COF and COE.
Other than access to the ‘Arah’ gear, you get no benefit from running a 2 hour plus Arah P4 run versus a 10 minute COF P1 run. Same tokens. Same coin. Same junk loot.
OP has a valid point. All high end open world drops have been nerfed. Orr, ML, Frostgorge. There is no where left to get a good return of T5/T6 crafting supplies for a reasonable amount of time spent. 1-2 T6 an hour is not reasonable.
There is a reason there was a ‘dust crisis’. There will be similar ‘crisis’ very soon.
And to top it off, now you have to compete with these dragon coffers on your drops. They drop EVERYWHERE. Next to impossible to get any real drops any more.
For having an ‘economist’ on staff, this in game economy really does stink.
I hate all the illegal alien ‘guesters’ on my lower population server.
If I’m in zone and I see some running around to the holos, I’ll activate them just so they can’t get their loot.
Really… I have that much hate for them.
A prime example of how after thousands of years of technological advancement, and we still get petty and jealous over something so small as digital gambling boxes and fake dragon taffy. Yay, humans.
This kind of stuff is why the GW2 community has a bad reputation.
I’m not petty over the dragon coffers. I actually hate those things and wish they did not infect the whole loot table. I can’t even run dungeons without getting this crap.
I just hate illegal aliens clogging my server up. Go home.
Run COE. You will have a pretty decent chance at a core and a rare chance at a lodestone.
If you run COE enough, it can become just as profitable if not more profitable than COF. You just have to know the Subject Alpha fight and the paths become trivial.
Farming sparks really is a horrible method because the drop rates are ridiculously low.

Have to agree with this. The wurm event can make this rush challenging, but doable. The settlement event makes is VERY difficult. Even if you do the event beforehand, the event will reset before the end of the rush.
Remove this guild rush, or change the route slightly to avoid this settlement.
This rush’s path is drastically different than from when it was designed. It needs to be looked at again. At the time it was designed, this ‘settlement’ was not even there and there were a few enemies in this locale. It is a whole different route now, one that needs to be looked at.
Closed economy.
Fixed amount of gold/gems in the market.
No market manipulation.
All a big steaming pile of manure. This economy is horrible regardless of what any of the resident ‘experts’ say.
Yeah, ANet nerfed the drops on these creatures terribly. I used to farm here all the time. First, the corrupted lodestones drops were nerfed. Then around a month or so ago, the entire drop rate was nerfed.
I have farmed here enough to know something is amiss. I rarely get anything from these guys to drop. And the drop rate of crafting materials HAS disappeared. 1 T6 material in an hour. A handful of T5 crafting materials. I used to be able to stack up these crafting materials.
Either there is a bug, or they have intentionally nerfed the drops. I don’t mind if lodestones are rare, but I should be able to get T5/T6 crafting materials.
I’m so sick of all the illegal aliens on my lower populated server that are there just to farm the holos that I will purposely activate each and every one and not wait on these kittenbags.
However, if I do see someone from my server around I’ll give him one chance to come up and get the holo. If he is nice about it, I’ll continue to wait for him. If he is not, he gets left in the dust on all future holos.
Go home aliens.
Why in the world has the dragon coffers infected EVERY loot table in the game. You can not do anything any more without these annoying things dropping.
If I want to avoid this silly nonsense and run dungeons, I’m stuck with these things dropping.
If I want to farm for some T6 materials, I’m stuck with these things.
Is there no hope of getting any legit loot besides these trash coffers for the next month? Spreading them out into every single loot table seems a little ridiculous. You’ve just seemed to have gone a little overboard with this stuff.
On the plus side, I haven’t had one drop from a world boss….yet.
Truthfully, I’m so sick of seeing these things drop that it is seriously affecting my desire to even play for the next month. At least take this junk out of the dungeon drops so I can hide out there for a while.
Still no fix for this bug in the latest patch?
I honestly believe the dungeon team has been disbanded, spread out to other ‘teams’, and dungeons are now being left to rot.
Another good site to see which servers have the Temp of Balth open.
I experienced the ‘short cycle’ where Simin stealths again after about 4-7 seconds last night.
We were a new group to this path, but time after time again she would stealth again only after about 4-7 seconds of reveal time.
And there is no way the total time from when she first stealthed, plus her reveal time equaled out to any where close to 45 seconds. We were pretty slow with the sparks a few times, but even when we got them fast she would stealth again after 4-7 seconds. We seemed to be stuck at that ‘50% point’ for quite a while.
My question is, is this normal behavior for Simin or was this just a bug? I’m just trying to learn a little more about the fight but it seemed to be darn near impossible for our group at the rate it was going.
I’m sorry, even without armor I am not impressed by any COF P1 run. Path is just way to easy.
But congrats on coming up with an innovative guild activity!
This is why condition builds really are inferior to direct damage builds. Unfortunate, but true.
And it all has to do with technical issues and server load. That would be a lot more load on the server, and they are not ready to add that expense to their table. A dev discussed it in a post a while back.
Here is the long post: (3 months old….)

However, I never understood the point of spending 10-15 minutes waiting for the “perfect” group, which can complete it in 3-5 minutes less than your typical group.
I have always wondered this too.
In other words, once you learn the encounter it is easy.
And the fight is a bit like Lupi.. you either know the fight or you don’t. If you don’t, you will pretty much get owned. Once you do know the fight, it is relatively easy.
Not sure why “they HAVE to overhaul this dungeon”, but whatever. If you know the subject alpha fights and have a competent group of people you can farm this dungeon very easily and it can be nearly or more lucrative than COF.
On a side note, when did the icebrood in Frostgorge get nerfed so bad? I tried again there over the weekend and I was barely getting any T5 or T6 materials. I used to be able to get a decent amount for the time invested. Now they barely even drop ANYTHING.
I realize he was referring to the instigator chests. That are now gone. And events that encouraged such large zergs that a lot of people experienced horrible lag is not really something to be proud of, yet alone brag about. I guess this IS the way you are supposed to farm.
And I have noticed the drop rate of the T6 materials has diminished quite a bit also. It is NOT just a reduction in skelk quantity. The loot drops are just NOT the same.
Oh.. forgot.. another option is to farm COE. It will drop the occasional lodestone, but you will see a charged core drop more frequently. These cores can be upgraded to lodestones.
COE is fun and not that challenging once you learn the Subject Alpha fights.
