From the wiki:
If you transmute a Prototype Fractal Capacitor (Ascended) with the skin of another item, the Mystic Forge will still recognize it as an ingredient in crafting the Beta. It will then lose the transmuted skin and default to the Beta skin.
This is what I have always heard. You will still be able to ‘upgrade’ the item in the MF, but the new item will be a completely new item and will lose any infusions and any skins applied to the old item.
In short, I have heard you can still upgrade an item in the MF but you WILL lose your skin.
I wouldn’t apply a skin to a backpiece unless I am finished upgrading the backpiece first.
^ Never heard that or known that. Good information.
I initially thought the Quip was such a joke and didn’t even want to bother with it. I don’t use rifles much, so Predator wasn’t an option really.
But I must admit, the Quip is the most awesome party gun out there! The sounds can get a little annoying, but that is part of the fun. Everyone can hear me coming from a mile away. lol
The prime periods of time for coverage differ vastly for NA and EU and thus would lead to some less than entertaining battles. EU would dominate during one time frame while meeting little resistance and then NA would reclaim and dominate later that same while meeting little resistance.
Novel idea, but the time differences will be hard to overcome.
The only real problem is, if ANet determines you are playing the game in any manner they deem not to be as intended, they can do whatever they want including bans. They have proven this with bans for glitches they had in the game. Not hacking.
Their track record is spotty, with one incident causing the ban hammer to fall while another doesn’t even get addressed.
I have never compared these farmers to bots, scammers, or hackers. But given ANet’s track record for issuing bans whenever they feel people are abusing the game in a way that it was not intended, I would not feel any remorse for anyone who gets caught up in this if that were to happen. Do at your own risk.
No one can actually believe this spot is intended so any farming of this spot I would venture to guess is not intended behavior from ANet’s point of view.
Personally, I just hate that they shut down every legit farming spot in the game or nerf it with the DR hammer to the point where there is very little spots to legitlly farm any more.
Engineers require a lot of work and attention to be good. They can be some of the best players in the game, but it WILL require you to work for that reward.
Sounds like you might prefer a thief.
No, the MF boost from Southsun does not work outside of Southsun.
The earlier reference to the Southsun 200% MF boost was just stating that using this boost in Southsun shows that MF does in fact work. Not that it works for corrupted lodestones.
I hear about this problem more and more.
If you don’t come from another MMO, you most likely don’t know what ‘Unique’ means. And if you are not lucky enough to be told about it in advance, you really would not have any reason to even think that this means you can only equip one of this item.
The problem is everyone including ANet assumes people knows what unique means or assumes the player will find this term important enough to research before purchasing. This is not always the case.
I always do my best to spread the word about unique items to everyone I can in game now.
Perfectly LEGIT farming method.
Lmao.. no one really believes that. That is why these spots where mobs constantly respawn are ALWAYS shut down eventually. Because it is not the way it was intended for them to work. If it was, they would leave them alone.
Fractals. If you have map completion, running fractals is probably the fastest way to get SPs. Not only do you get the experience to level, you can buy the skill points relatively cheap.
If rewards are not including level 80 exotics, then it is true that precursors are impossible to get from map completion.
It doesn’t really matter if you are monitoring your health. You are downed in seconds or less.
It is kind of ridiculous that retaliation hits harder than the flamethrower.
I must admit, as someone who uses the flamethrower and pistol with coated bullets a lot, retaliation is the bane of my existence.
I too run with P/S and FT all the time. I personally just preferred pistols over the rifle from the start and stuck with it. I switch up a lot during the battle so I don’t find it worthless at all.
And piercing bullets is a very nice trait imho. I have used it for a long time. Coupled with a Superior Sigil of Fire I can constantly hit more than 5 targets per shot. I get a chance to process the AoE flame blast on the first hit, then again once the bullet pierces that target and hits the next target, and so on.
As someone mentioned, elixer gun does scale surprisingly well with power. I usually run with EG along with FT in my build. Third utility slot gets changed up quite a bit depending on the current situation I am in.
The OP has a valid point.
As it stands, I will ideally use one amulet with an omni infusion for PvE such as gold find or magic find. (Ideally I would use two.. magic find for open PvE and gold find for dungeons)
Then I would use one amulet with an infusion that contains +5 AR (simple versatile infusion because it is cheap) for doing high level Fractals.
And now I would use one amulet with a WvW bonus infusion for doing WvW.
Sure, you can get by with just one. But ideally, I would want at least three different ones right now. Because I do PvE, Fractals, dungeons, and WvW.
If you really see no ‘need’ for different infusions then you are doing it wrong. You can certainly get by just fine, but you could make life easier on yourself.
Well that is what I hate about companies using user edited Wikis for their official information/guide. The wiki is obviously wrong in this case. And this is not the only time it has been wrong.
“Rewards for completion of explorable zones scale based on the top level of the zone. For example, fully mapping Fireheart Rise will give level 70.”
It is a flat +4 or +5 bonus to your stats and not a percentage. It does translate to a % increase to certain attributes like critical chance. +21 percision at level 80 will give you a +1% chance of a critical hit. So, in a way it works similar to the AR. Just differenet scales.
And in my opinion, the +4 or +5 bonus to stats is not worth it at all. Like I said, it takes +21 points of precision at level 80 to gain a +1% chance of critical hit.
Posting it in the forums is not the correct way as mentioned, but rather reporting it is.
That being said, I will not shed one tear for anyone if they get hit with the ban hammer for exploiting this. Doubt it will happen, but I will have no sympathy for anyone who has participated in this.
Since Cursed Shore is a level 80 map, it SHOULD be giving level 80 exotics. It has been a while since I completed that map so I can not verify this.
Even though they say it doesn’t happen, it appears Fractals are hit by DR too. The longer you run them, the worse your loot gets. If you take an extended break from them and come back, your loot is better for a little while then tapers off again.
Of course, everyone will say RNG… blah blah… but this happens way too often to be a coincidence.
Any place in game where you are having fun while playing is a good place to level.
Whether that be Southsun or WvW or Queensdale or Fireheart Rise.
If you are not having fun while doing it, move on to another area where you will! The levels seem to come easier while you are enjoying your time.
I never hear much talk about DR on the loot from dungeons, mainly just DR on the dungeon rewards.
Then again, I never hear much conversation about the great loot from dungeons, just dungeon rewards!
If you are hitting some sort of DR from a particular dungeon, switching dungeons SHOULD solve your issue. The mobs are classified differently and that is usually where the problem lies.
The laurel vendor is currently the ONLY spot to get your ascended amulets. So if you are interested in that at all, I say spend those laurels there first.
Still no endgame progression. The only endgame there is is the same stuff that was there at launch.
Still tons of bugs. Some new. Some there since launch.
There has been new content, like Fractals but these become monotonous very quickly. Same levels, just more mobs with more HPs.
If you left the game about a month after launch because you were dissatisfied, you probably will still be dissatisfied. The game hasn’t changed that much.
Many people have suggested they have more than 1 legendary available for each type of weapon. One more ‘fun’ style and one more ‘serious’ style like you have mentioned.
I have yet to hear any official word on this issue. I’m sure one day we will see additional legendary weapons. When and what type is completely unknown.
Corrupted lodestone farming went to the crapper a few months ago. Average used to be about 1 every 20 to 30 minutes. Now you are lucky to get 1 an hour.
And from my research and the research of others that used to farm them, MF didn’t have any big influence on whether they dropped or not. General consensus was that MF did not help their drop rate much if any at all.
The absolute best method to obtain lodestones is farming gold from your favorite spot/source and purchasing them. Sad but true.
Can not be infused at this point. No idea whether or not they intend to make it infusible in the future.
I would guess that it is possible but I have never heard of it happening.
I think the rewards are random exotics, which can include a precursor.
They have been talking about rotating the colors up for that matchups. No estimate on when or if they will implement this.
Known bug. Not just rangers. I can confirm it happens for Engies too. I have heard it happens to thieves.
Try guesting on a few. Find out for yourself which one seems to fit you. Then pay for a transfer if you wish.
^ Forum fight away.
It was simply a request for a score update.
Carry on.
This thread is useless without a score update!
I can confirm this bug exists on engineers also.
This is probably deliberate, but it sure would be fun to be able to group up with guildies and toss the crab around.
As an Engie, I’ve noticed some of these issues too.
It is still random loot from the tables. You still have a chance at rares, exotics, and even precursors.
Adding additional ascended equipment like carrion and valkyrie really wouldn’t take much time away from their current developers. The legwork is already there, adding a new item should not be that much effort.
Adding these items to WvW vendors should not be that difficult a task either. All they have to is settle on a cost and add them to the vendor.
I tend to believe, like others have said, that it is more a way to prolong things. Gradually introduce new items to keep the game ‘fresh’.
I really liked the openness of Southsun Cove pre patch. After the patch, it just seems to be packed a little too much with settlements and forts and other stuff. Just detracts from the beautiful scenery.
Plus the young karka are not as populous as they once were. Wonder where they all went?
I do like some of the touches they added. The GF and MF buffs to keep people coming back.
The account bound back pieces.
Fastest way is to craft using the MF. You will still need 1 vial of condensed mists essence so you will need to run fractals some to get that. And the beserker stat back pieces call for 250 Vials of Powerful Blood, so that can be costly.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vial_of_Condensed_Mists_Essence
Probably the cheapest way is to run fractals until you obtain 1850 fractal relics. 1350 fractal relics to buy your exotic backpiece, and another 500 to purchase the Gift of Ascension so you can Ascend that backpiece in the MF. You will still need 1 vial of condensed mists essence, but you SHOULD have that after grinding 1850 relics.
Since you will need to grind some fractals for the vial of condensed mists essence either way, I would say go the fractal capacitor route. Grinding 1850 relics is really not that hard.
Loot in fractals has been bad for a while. Nothing new here.
I’d report this in the bugs section. This is most likely an oversight.
Just a correction.. FC was never the worst server. We were ranked dead last for a while. But we certainly were not the worst server.
Proud to be FC.
Agreed. Beautiful piece on a Sylvari. Thanks for the love.
And also agree, all back pieces should be dyeable! This would be a welcome change.
In case you haven’t noticed, it appears most if not all of the dungeon team has been working on the living story.
This would help explain why most dungeons have been relatively ignored lately.
Hiemdal, your information is incorrect.
You only receive pristine fractal relics from the daily chest on level 10 and up.
You do not receive 1 pristine fractal relic per level. You do not receive any pristine fractal relics below level 10.
You have to do 10 ‘daily’ runs at level 10 or higher. That means is you are in the 10-19 level range, you need 10 days to acquire the necessary 10 pristine fractal relics.
The event is still there. Maybe you weren’t there when the event was happening. I saw and participated in it last night.
The Southsun Supply crate is a very rare drop.
And the Karka with the speech bubbles is indeed Wildman Anders, a guild bounty target. FYI, is you attack that Karka and kill the Karka body, Anders will pop out. At this point, if your guild has him as an active bounty, you can start a battle with Anders to try to best him for your rewards.
No bugs here.
They have acknowledged the issue, and from what I have seen/read don’t really plan on doing anything about it. Kind of like the condition damage problem. It is a server side issue, but improving it will cost them $$$ which is something they really don’t want to do.
