Besides, you severely over estimate the importance of city WPs as a gold sink source to the economy.

The convenience factor for the player not having to do multiple loads is a plus. The benefit of less server load should be reason enough.

Again, you get the convenience factor by teleporting directly to LA, instead of abusing a feature that has an entirely different purpose.

My argument is that you are demanding free stuff because you are already going around the game mechanics…

You must have poor reading comprehension. I have not demanded anything, yet alone free stuff.

If players can already bypass the WP costs associated with travelling to LA, it would reduce server stress a little and be more convenient for players if they just removed the cost to WP to LA. Additionally, removing the cost for every major city also has it’s benefit.

I’m not demanding they do anything. Simply a suggestion on how they could possibly utilize their own server resources better. The trip to LA and any major city isn’t going to cost me a dime either way.

I don’t care that I’m going to get to use combat stats while still having account-based magic find, there’s no way you’re going to convince me that I’m going to be able to have 180% base magic find like before. I don’t want combat stats, PvE is so friggin easy, and for WvW I use a different set. I’m glad for the opportunity to trade in some stats for better loot.

Better loot in general, or better loot than others? Because those two are completely different.

Me, i’d rather see MF removed with a general increase in drops for everyone.
Because yes, drops are terrible, but one of the reasons why they are terrible is because the baseline is not 0% MF, but rather the highest possible value.

I’ll disagree with you that drops are terrible because MF exists.

Drops are just terrible because they have nerfed them to the point they are at now. This has absolutely nothing to do with MF.

And I haven’t seen anywhere they have implied they will adjust drop rates once they do away with MF. It is a nice assumption that this might happen, but history tells me not to hold my breath.

Everyone is well aware of the method to get to LA for free via the mists, and from LA to every major city for free.

Using this method does take extra time, but it also clogs up WvW and PvP servers unneccessarily.

Allowing all city WPs to become free will benefit all. It will help alleviate a little server load from people using the mists to travel to cities. It might actually encourage people to use other cities more often.

Not sure why they would be against this. At least have LA free, but I would say all cities. Keep people like me from clogging up WvW queues and adding server stress.

Bottom line is, while you can be successful using any gear, beserker gear is ultimately the best.

As such, bringing anything other than zerker gear to a dungeon or party hinders your ability to help the party and you are being a leech. Therefore, when they finally do away with MF gear they should also do away with every other type of gear except beserker.

Bringing a less than optimal build to a party is not in the spirit of cooperativeness and not the type of gameplay that is encouraged in this game.

The gilded infusion really is only beneficial for the extra coin from dungeons. And with a change to that looming, the gilded infusion is not looking that attractive. It really all depends on if they change how it works or not.

Similarly, the karmic infusion is not that useful as karma is readily available and you can get 80% bonus karma through other means. Though the 95% bonus karma with the karma infusion is nice if you want to recycle karma through the lost orrior jewelry boxes. And at least the karma infusion is cheaper than the gilded.

The first two chests you receive are the 100 and 500 point chest. It is confusing the way they display them. The chests across the top of your achievement panel are future chests that you have not yet received.

More than likely, you have received 2 chests, the 100 and 500, and still have yet to claim the 1000 and 1500. These chests can only be claimed once per day until caught up.

Placing an infusion in the ring and inherently infusing the ring via the mystic forge are two seperate thing.

Inherently infusing via the MF will yield a new item, for example: Red Ring of Death (Infused) This new item still has an infusion slot available.

Placing an infusion into a ring will not make it a new item. It will still be a Red Ring of Death, only it will have it’s infusion slot filled.

You can equip two unique items. For example: One Red Ring of Death (with the infusion slot either filled or not) and one Red Rind of Death (Infused) (Which can also have the infusion slot filled or not).

You can not equip: Red Ring of Death (with the infusion slot filled) and a Red Ring of Death (with the infusion slot empty). They are the same unique item.

To be honest, it will suck if the generic recipe stays the same. Especially if they introduce a full complement of legendary armor. Imagine having to get 6 more gifts of exploration just to try to get a full set of legendary armor? Geesh that is a lot of repetative exploring!

I guess the boosters are supposed to make up the reward for the PvE crowd.

The gold and laurels can be enjoyed by PvE, WvW, and PvE.

The PvP gear is for the PvP crowd.

The badges of honor and blueprints are for the WvW crowd.

This is simply not true.

Everyone who PvEs can use badges of honor. In fact, you need 500 badges of honor for a legendary weapon. One of the hardest things for PvE’ers to get. They used to be called badges of jumping by some people because some people would only get them from the jumping puzzle.

Aside from that badges of honor can be used to buy exotic armor and weapons usable in PvE. It can even be used to buy ascended gear for less laurels.

I am well aware of the uses of the badges of honor. And I am very familiar with the badges of jumping from creating my first legendary.

I was simply stating that it should be obvious that these were included to give some reward to the WvW crowd who otherwise were going to be left out in the cold.

The same for the PvP gear for the PvP crowd.

They simply were including rewards for everyone in the game. I am not claiming they are useless to everyone else, just that the group each reward is geared towards is different.

They have ways of changing abilities for different aspects of the game. One thing might work a certain way in PvP or WvW and then another way in PvE. They have this capability.

There is nothing stopping them from turning off MF for dungeons, which is the biggest complaint from people. They can simply allow people to use MF in PvE except for dungeons. Farmers could farm. Dungeons parties wouldn’t have to worry about ‘leeches’.

Simply removing MF is going to create a whole set of issues/problems that they are going to need to address or they will have bigger problems on their hands.

I personally would like to thank them for making this decision AFTER I just created the legendary Frenzy for my MF farming Engie. He spends a lot of time underwater due to farming and thus the decision to make Frenzy. I’m afraid with the loss of MF, farming underwater will not be favorable and my Frenzy will no longer even get wet.

Such a sad waste. It’s bad enough they ignore underwater combat, but to arbitrarily remove a core component of the game that promotes underwater play to some degree is just sad.

But I’m sure I’ll be compensated for my troubles/loss.

Even the pvp items can be turned into dyes. It’s win win all around.

I truly would like to know how this is done. Never messed with PvP much so I really don’t know.

Didn’t appear that I could salvage or MF the PVP gear that I was given.

Yeah because you totally cannot:

  • Use Badges to save on laurels for Ascended items
  • Use Badges to get level 80 exotic gear for your character (cannot MF those though)
  • Sell the Blueprints (upgrade to superior first, sells for more at minimal additional costs)

No one said the PvE crowd CAN’T use those things. But those rewards are geared towards the WvW crowd, plain and simple.

Nothing stops the WvW crowd from using the boosters, but they are most certainly included for the PvE crowd as rewards.

I am not saying these things are useless, just that certain rewards in the chest are geared to certain players.

Since I like to farm a lot underwater with my Engie and his full exotic MF gear with full ascended MF accessories, I decided to go ahead and get the legendary Frenzy.

I am so stoked to know that my farming routine will probably be killed, and now the legendary I got will probably go largely unused because my main reason for spending so much time underwater is probably going to be shut down.

It was the amount of time that I spend underwater farming that lead to the decision to finish Frenzy. Thanks alot guys.

The fractal daily chest has a chance at a very rare fractal weapon skin versus the guaranteed rare from a world boss daily chest. Not to mention the cores/lodestones from the actual Maw chest.

I would argue that the fractal chest has WAY better loot than the world boss daily chest.

But opinions differ.

It might just be plain bugged. I run an Engie main and have since launch. He uses a harpoon gun underwater. His only option. I do a LOT of farming underwater, yet my harpoon kills only register something like ‘20’. This is obviously bugged.

People with ALTs have such an elitist attitude. So, if I had 15 ALTs (which some claim to have), I should be able to get 15 level 48 fractal chests a day? Besides, what would keep me from ALT deleting and recycling to get more chests?

The system is set up great now in that it DOES allow you to get multiple level 48 chests, as long as you have progressed your character to that level. This is much more ALT friendly then even the world boss chests.

Account wide personal reward level should come with account wide daily chest reward. And let’s be honest, that is NOT what all of you want.

Sometimes its not even when the creator is kicked… I made a HotW party once, we kicked this AFK Charr and the whole party just imploded. Everyone out of the dungeon, half quit cause they didnt want to go again…

Yeah, what was already said. It is not the ‘party’ creater, but the ‘instance’ owner which is the person who entered the dungeon first.

Condition damage is most definately one of the biggest if not biggest problems in the game.

There is a reason direct damage is so superior to condition damage. There is a reason the zerker warrior is king.

Most real fixes for this issue will cause more server side load and thus cost more $$$ so it is very unlikely we will see a solution.

I do not agree with account bound personal reward level unless they change the daily reward chest to account bound also. And I am sure this is not what most of you want.

I do not agree with the logic that since you have unlocked the higher level/higher reward content on one character that you should have immediate access to reap these rewards multiple times through using ALTs.

An account bound daily tier chest similar to world boss’ daily chest would alleviate the potential for abuse of this issue if personal reward level was changed to account bound.

But personally, I’d rather the personal reward level stay tied to each character and each character be allowed to get it’s own daily reward chest.

Oh, and your new character that you are so fond of CAN currently run higher level fractals. You just won’t get the higher level rewards until he/she reaches that reward level.

So don’t act like your character is locked out of the content. This is not true. It is just locked out of the higher reward.

I’ve recently been leveling a mesmer ALT and looking for suggestions on a build for her.

I realize there are a lot of different builds posted here, so maybe someone can assist in narrowing down my search a little.

I’m nearly level 80, and so far I have really like using the staff as my main weapon, with the sword and focus (especially due to the mobility) as an alternate set.

I have been playing a style that likes to keep a lot of phantasms/clones up and using a mix of defensive/offensive skills to defeat the enemy while PVEing.

I have not been using shatter skills at all yet. I’ve leaned towards keeping the illusions up during the battle and honestly, do not know if this is the best approach or not.

Are there any builds out there that are similar to this playstyle? Are there some tweaks to the playstyle that I should be focusing on to make the mesmer more efficient/fun?

I want to get her skills/traits narrowed down now that she is reaching level 80 so I can gear her up with the appropriate gear for her build.

JPs are a love/hate part of the game. I understand them including new JPs for those that love it.

But why so much focus on this one aspect of the game? I mean, we’ve seen ‘0’ updates that include underwater activities. This is another whole aspect of the game that people love/hate but gets zero attention.

I just wish they would not focus all of their attention on one aspect, but spread it around to some of the other aspects of the game also.

Not complaining about the scroll, but I do find it a little amusing that ANet thinks someone who has achieved 5000 achievement points doesn’t play enough or have enough ALTs already… so we’ll give them a scroll so that they can roll another ALT!

They release new JPs all the time. They have even started to make them permanent fixtures in the game.

How about we get some new underwater areas? Something interesting to do there?

We all know you added jumping to the game and are proud of that, but how about not ignoring the other aspect of the game that is located underwater?

With the dungeon reward changes, the usefullness of the GF infusion is all but disappearing.

GF wasn’t a great tool for use in mob drops. It was VERY useful for dungeon runners who liked to do multiple paths for the coin that dropped off of the bosses.

And, while it hasn’t been confirmed yet, I really believe MF is being NERFED. I run 144% MF on just my exotic armor/runes and ascended accessories, amulet with infusion, and rings.

I have a real hard time believing they will compensate me with a 144% MF account wide stat. More than likely, it will be significantly less.

They gave us a 3% MF account wide bonus stat by the time you hit 5000 achievement points. They actually think this is good, so their ideas for compensation for the loss of MF gear will probably be along these lines.

Berserker gear is the real cancer to the game and removing it will be the single greatest thing ArenaNet will ever do.

How is berserker gear bad for this game? Over half the bosses in this game you can sit back and auto attack while dodging every now and then.

Zerker gear in no way, shape, or form encourages any type of build diversity.

There is a reason you see so many posts looking for ‘zerker warrior’. It is because it IS the most efficient in most fights. And while this remains true it will remain true that bringing any other class or build to the team is not optimal and thus you are a ‘leech’ to your team. Is this really what they want to encourage?

I have 148% MF spread out over my exotic armor and ascended gear. 60 from runes, 18 from the armor, 30 on an amulet with MF infusion, 20 from 2 rings, and 20 from 2 accessories. Not to even mention my weapons and sigil of luck.

Anything short of giving me my 148% MF as a bonus is worthless. I already have a full set of dungeon zerker/soldier gear that I use.

No need for ‘a new stat’ on my MF gear. No need for a timed MF booster. I have plenty of those.

I’m sure I will be disappointed in the end.

Very intermittent on Frenzy as well. The aura will sometimes show up, other times not. Switching in and out of kits on my Engie will sometimes get the aura back. But other times, not.

Going to the Chantry of Secrets worked to solve this issue on a guild mate of mine. Might try that. Think you need to make sure to go into the instance.

When equipping the Legendary harpoon gun frenzy, the misty aura that surrounds your character will sometimes not activate.

I can switch between kits on my Engie and Frenzy, and sometimes the aura will work and others times it will not.

Very disappointing for a legendary that is rarely seen as is.

Anybody think of the chance that those items will be converted into account wide magic find boosts? Perhaps through a vendor or some other means. So having a full set of magic find gear would get you a decent amount of permanent magic find account wide? Just saying, to me this seems like the least disruptive way to fairly compensate for the loss of magic find as a stat.

Everyone who hates MF pretty much says that it doesn’t work anyways. Why not give those that have a set of MF armor/trinkets the same amount in account wide bonus’? The MF farmers will be happy, and the ones who hate MF shouldn’t care cause they don’t believe in it anyways.

Elites… there is a whole different issue. There are plenty of players that would rather take another utility skill versus an elite skill because most elite skills are pretty worthless. That really says something about the state of elites.

It is with sad news, today, that we learn of the imminent death of the lowly humble farmer.

They withstood the destruction of farm after farm. From Plinx, to Union, to Shelter/Pent. Still, they pushed on.

And I’ve seen the account wide bonus’ that have come with the achievement chests. 3% MF after the 5000 point achievement chest.

If they think this is anything worth even mentioning without laughing then we are in trouble. I don’t foresee them giving us anywhere near the current achieveable levels of MF as an account wide bonus.

+50% MF account wide would even be laughable considering I get near 200% before food bonus’.
