Unyielding blast doesn’t matter. They should just make it give vuln only and give piercing to DS 1 baseline. Because piercing does NOTHING for RS 1. And assuming in the future there are other types of shrouds, then this would be the most logical change.

But if this is a serious addition, then Spectral walk had to go. OFC, spectral walk is nothing compared to portal guns and rocket books when it comes to abusing jump puzzles.

Not to mention the use of Spectral Walk BASE jumping to “break” the HOT maps.

Even if you take dagger offhand, in higher levels of competitive play, no one will get hit by the dagger condi transfer. Which means its just a wasted weapon slot so you’re still better off taking the warhorn.

If you’re out of combat and you see a thief stealth, you can’t dodge roll and lay down a mark with your proposed change.

That would be a big nerf.

Maybe for running around in pve, try untraiting mark of evasion.

If this was done in connection with removing the abusive aspects of z-axis teleport nerfs, then it’s fair.

It is beyond wrong that teleports can increase movement far beyond their stated range, by abusing pathing.

I read on reddit that a while back players were playing a stronghold beta with this fixed.

It doesn’t function like the standard z-axis teleport. You can’t use it go on top of clocktower. You can’t use it to blink up a cliff that cannot immediately be climbed.

When they nerfed DS fall damage, ArenaNet specifically said that Spectral Walk was a mechanic they didn’t have a problem with.

I would also be ‘fine’ with being able to see cooldowns. Though I would also love being able to summon my super long cast time minions in shroud, at least seeing cooldowns would be amazing QOL.

SoU + VP still has you losing 4% LF every 3 seconds. And still, never leaving DS isn’t exactly meaningful, the only build that would want to do that is glass zerker necro, which wouldn’t want to take SoU, and would be easy to burst out.

Then I guess the only negative is you could be in DS so long you forget what weapon you have equipped.

The correct answer is always staff because max dps modifiers.

The imbalance between vanilla DS and RS would be staggering as well. While it would be near useless on Life blast, it would be a totally OP on RS, cleaving allies with 1Kish heals on AAs.

You could make a similar argument in reverse for Unyielding Blast being near useless in RS and almost necessary in DS.

Plus, the positional disadvantage of using RS auto attacks to heal allies would make up for its relatively powerful healing ability.

I’m relatively new to the thief class and I really like Sword Dagger. Although I constantly find myself being singled out by D/p thieves.

I hear that the odds are not quite in favor of S/D but is there any way to get better at fighting a d/p thief? what can I do to increase my chances of winning against one?

I think your entire skill-bar should be available to you when in DS (so heal, 3 utilities, elite). It just presents a much better system for playing the Necromancer, you don’t feel like Death Shroud is this entity that separates you from the rest of your build or gameplay, it enhances it and feels cohesive.

Now, obviously there might be issues with balance. That is fine, if it happens then adjust as appropriate including nerfing DS’s LF pool if needed. I don’t see a compelling reason against having the skills though. Your heals could still be interrupted, your abilities all retain the same counterplay they did before, your elite transforms will just bring you out of DS, and any balance concerns can be addressed as they appear.

I want to make this my sig but its too long haha.

Two-sided. One, I could see it EASILY becoming very very broken. On the other hand. SoV blows currently… I still think it shouldn’t, we don’t really need to heal ourselves in DS so much as we need our heals/regen/external support to affect us. I’d rather SoV just not be terrible outside of DS/RS. SoU doesn’t maintain your real HP and is slower than other sources of DS/RS life force generation. The problem with making heals 100% work in DS is that they negate any reason to drop shroud. I think it’s good to make the decision to drop shout for a moment’s opportunity to heal. It also makes us more vulnerable to interrupt our heal and burst us, which I also feel is necessary. (Of course, the new Stability move in reaper will make healing much more easy anyways.)

No, I mean, if we allow utility signets passives and actives to work in ds, what is your stance on vampirism’s passive working too (if not the active as well).

I think we should get utilities in DS. It’s like our own personal kit. We can already use spectrals and go in it (arguably one of the stronger mixes of DS+Utility), and have pets pre-summoned. I don’t think it would be excessively broken to be able to use our utilities.

Not heal though. Maybe they could add a unique DS/RS #6 so it covers our heal. And Transform elites would just disable DS so that’s not a problem either.

And depending on what the #6 is, I wouldn’t be opposed to losing a bit of total LF in return for the access to utilities and #6. Might even be good overall to do that.

I feel like the better compromise is to instead extend the DS skills into the utility slots as well. This way they can design the utility skills specifically for DS instead of trying to balance existing and swappable utilities around DS.

If this happened, then they would need an upwards of 10 more skills to make for DS and RS. I personally think the more straightforward answer would be to let us just use our normal utility in deathshroud. That way its less predictable and gives a higher skill ceiling. If we have a static 10 skills in DS, then after someone learns all the tells and counters it makes us almost sitting ducks.

I fully support getting utility skills in DS.

Wow. This is just terrible. Asura axe 1 had the best animation in the game – that flying roundhouse was just awesome. And although axe 1 was pretty rubbish dps-wise, it was worth equipping axe because axe 2 can really take chunks out of mobs. In fact in the power build I use for my necro, axe is hard to beat, even thought the autoattack sucked. Since I actually utilise my skills, rather than just mashing 111111111, I could make pretty good use of it.

But to take away that AWESOME animation…wow. Badly done there Anet.

Here was my idea, Undead Crows. It would match the look and feel of the Reaper.

I definitely agree that we should get undead crows. If each undead crow blinds on auto attack, that makes us tankier, makes enemies do less damage, looks SERIOUSLY AWESOME, and would present us with a new form of synergies.

Currently we only have shadow fiend, but his blind is abysmal.
With the undead crows, we get syngergy with blind → chill in curses and then all of our chill traits. It could be quite effective. This would be offset by how fragile the crows are.

is a build I’ve crafted to run 2-5vX scenarios with my guildies.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this build is to fluidly alternate between

-Supporting the group through soft cc/debilitating conditions such as poison, chill, cripple, weakness and fear
-Being a big black tanky blobbity bruiser
-Executing kills

all within the same fight.

COMBOS AND SYNERGIES

My play style usually involves starting on the staff. I’m not usually the spearhead during engagements, so I usually stay a bit off to the side putting down staff2&3 and Radiation field if it’s being used. The Sigil of Venom certainly helps add to the poison uptime, synergizing with our Putrid Defense for step 2.

Next it’s useful to get closer and then go into RS2 to some enemies. Even more AoE poison with extra uptime because of staff sigil. By this time, most enemies should be poisoned and some chilled from staff 3. So you have about 35% damage reduction just from putrid defense and cold shoulder.

LAUGH MANIACALLY while you spam a 15% increased attack speed gargantuan deathscythe. Dodge roll if you want AoE cripple, some swiftness, and 3 seconds of fury for RS5.

Leave RS, activate Spectral Walk, and weapon swap to GS for the sigil of intelligence. Spam GS2 burst -> GS5pull/interrupt-> GS4 blind/cripple -> GS3 mass vuln. After this, the enemies should be blinded, crippled, chilled, poisoned and have about 12 stacks of vuln. DS should be up (7 sec recharge time) so go into it, and spam auto attacks and spin to win RS4 for massive AoE cleave (10% base crit dmg + 50% ds crit chance + [12 vuln stacks* 2%crit chance] + dodgeroll fury = 104% crit chance) with your 235% crit dmg. Wow.

Spectral return out of harms way.

blah blah Spectral Armor or Flesh Wurm for your oh SHHHHH button moments.

Play nice necromancers.

Yeah, on a class that lacks mobility, the ranged power of life blast is pretty important.
Fighting on a point itself, in pvp being melee isn’t an issue, but when people are kiting around at range, you’ll be missing your ranged options a lot.
