there is a non rng method to obtain gold weapons, but 10 gold relics is ridiculous with current drop rates.
I’m sitting on 45 golden relics and don’t know what to do with them after having all golden skins. I agree the drop rate of golden fractal weapons is way too high.
Sounds like you got lucky. I think I have 2 golden fractal skins, 7 or 8 relics and the choice chest from doing 75-100 fractals.
That’s something I still don’t get: why there is a cap for dailies? I wonder why stopping people from getting more points through that way. That’s an incentive to try other achievements? No idea… shrugs
Because daily AP cheapen real achievements. Why do the 3 AP collection costing 500g if thats only 30% of a daily which takes 5min of effort?
I think it is nice to have such rare items in the game. But I wish it would be an infusion so we can use it in ascended gear
They said in the Fractal CDI thread ages ago that they dont have the resources to dedicate to an armor for fractals. Seeing that legendary armor is taking almost 2 years of development to come out, I would have to assume thats true.
This is correct. Art resources that would be spent on a set of armor that works across all races and professions would be better spent on creating new fractals. However, new weapons are much easier to make.
What about a silver reskin of the fractal weapons called platinum fractal weapons? Could be a good pristine sink if you price them at 100+ pristines each.
That kind of rarity will not stop poor players from being poor. It will only stop them from being able to enjoy said skin.
There are 113 different skins (acquirable with gold, 153 total) for Staffs, plenty of them are beautiful, some are rare and others are common.

Your logic makes no sense. If something is desireable it must be rare to stay desireable. If too many people have something I feel repelled by it instead of desireing it.
I hope future raid wings are harder, current raids are too easy. Low manning raids should be impossible since we have no item spiral.

If you only want the achievement points you’d be much better off waiting. The prices will drop as more people get these and other sell off ones they’ve been saving.
If I understand the blog correctly they are only back for a limited time. So I dont expect the price to drop enough to be worth waiting.
Its pretty expensive. Preparing to spend 5k+ gold to get the 3 AP.
By the way you need to go to a special NPC in Evon’s headquaters to buy the skins, they are not at the regular BLTC skin trader.

I think 4 tickets for fused weapons is too much. 3 would have been reasonable, but with 4 tickets it will cost 5k gold to get 3 AP.
It is an error on Anets side, its going on for quite a few days already. The AP leaderboards are not getting updated anymore at all ever since the bug started.
Also, everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that the reason the cap was originally put in place no longer exists.
I’m a couple of years off from hitting the daily cap anyway, but that’s my two cents . . .
The reason the cap was put into place was because people didn’t want to log in every single day for 10AP to stay ahead on the leaderboard, just because the daily takes 5-15mins now, doesn’t mean the reason no longer exists, you still have to put in a daily log in to get it. The cap actually puts every player on an even footing. What gets you ahead is the rest of your time spent in game.
In all fairness, I’d rather Anet scrapped dailies, and made monthly rewards instead and increasing the cap to 20k. So those who couldn’t, didn’t have to log in every day to get achievement points. Then I’d be more inclined to agree with removing/upping the cap, as logging in when you can/want to during a month is far easier than a 24hr period.
What you are saying is that you view AP as a means of comparing yourself to other players. I’m saying that I view AP as a means of progressing along a reward track. You did not give me a reason why your view should matter and mine shouldn’t . . .
Of course AP are a means to compare yourself with other people. The AP reward chests came later (July 9, 2013 to be precise) because people complained getting AP for the sake of getting AP is not enough for them. Anet had to continually expand them because people reached new milestones so fast.
For example at the beginning only helmet, gloves and shoulders of the AP armor existed.
Another point – your AP are visible to everyone in your guild, group, squad, friendlist, blocklist etc – why would they show your AP to everyone if it was meaent to be a reward track?

Ok what I heard in your last post is whining. You want the skin from AP chests yet you want it to be handed to you. You outright claim that you would rather not farm the rest of the available AP you can get and simply do 10 min of work a day for 10 AP and wait it out, and don’t seem to have a problem with most of your AP coming from doing essentially nothing.
If your issue with this is really only that you want these skins then you should be campaigning for ANet to add more achievements into the game with each release, and to up the amount of AP earned with each achievement. Because the current AP awards are much less than what they were in S1. If they were simply bumped up to those levels then we wouldn’t even be in this situation.
Exactly is, Anet should add more achievements (and make some existing ones more rewarding, because the effort vs AP reward ratio on some achievements is a joke; if Anet is unable to balance it by themselves they can contact me and I will help to work it ouf for them) instead of handing out AP on silver platterns via 5min effort dailies.
It is bad enough that currently 45% of the max possible AP come from dailies. For most people who play since early times, over half their AP are from dailies.
I wont consider supporting any daily cap increases before the daily AP falls below 20% of the max possible AP.

@Malediktus – Not everyone farms gold religiously. And just because you don’t think legendary items are prestigious anymore doesn’t make that a fact. For a lot of players its still very much a prestige item.

Spread that out over all of the different weapon types in the game and legendaries are far and away less common than people like you make them out to be.
Legendaries would be prestigious if it would be for the top 1%. 28% of players having more than 1 legendaries means that it is too easy.
So I think Anet should make future legendaries cost 20 current legendaries and 100 legendary insights each. It would have the advantage that black lion, exotic and ascended skins get used more widely again.In that case it would be guaranteed, that all the top level players would look exactly the same. Is that what you want?
Its a difference if 50% or 1% of the people look extremly similar? If you go in WvW it feels like half the zerg is wearing either bifrost or nevermore for example. GS users usually have twilight/sunrise/eternity.

Gems to gold is always the best way to get gold if you have a job in a first world country. It is like 7 cents per gold. Farming time + electricity bill cannot compete with it.
But will you feel accomplished if you bought it with gems to gold? That is for you to decide.
Legendaries are no longer prestigious because you can farm 2 of them per month rather easily, while also needing no skill at all, because the best ways to make gold are the most brain dead ways to play the game.

If they are running away from every fight, they aren’t defending their ppt.
Then it comes down to who karma trains fastest to win. Since t0 gives the same points as t3 you can just cap faster than the enemy to win and just not defend at all.
Its the other way around new achievements give way too few AP.

There are AP rewards until at least 50k AP, the rewards were obviously tuned for the LS1 ap rewards and not for anets new AP rewards.
By reaching the cap you’ve completed the Daily AP category, just like you’ve completed Agent of Entropy or Weapon master achievements. That should be something to be proud of.
That said, I think it would be a great idea to combine it with now-unattainable achievement points and in that respect the cap would grow as more achievements are retired.
I disagree with that, it would completly destroy the point of any retired achievements. Most of them definitely took more effort than silly dailies.
Example: Why would I do a silly wintersday minigame 100+ times, if I can catch up that AP with dailies in less than a week.

Yes because ppt matters they run away from fights. They can just sit in their objectives and wait for the 2hours to go over. If they fight and loose all the time having more objectives wont help them to win, so they rather avoid fights completly and focus on ppt all day.
So for skirmishes to work we need to tone down ppt from objectives
It is definitely server lag and not graphic lag.

I think skirmishes and ppk do not work together. I see more and more people run away from fights, especially when the skirmish is within a few 100 points of each others and they are worried to loose because of dieing too often. This especially applies to servers with a bad k/d ration. they run away all day now.
I would argue the people who can work on forum software are different people who develop games.
If they can afford wasting 200k on eSports then they should have money to hire a forum dev.
I could go for them deleting daily/monthly APs, and then doubling-up the permanent ones . . . but I’m also trying to be realistic.
Assuming Anets achievement database looks similar to the data you can fetch via the API it should be simple to run a script which simply doubles all AP values. Your personal AP valu gets recalculated anytime you log in anyway.
Dailies in the current form should give no AP at all. It is no achievement to do 3 out of 12 tasks and get 10 AP whereas the Primordus weapon collection gives 3 AP while costing 450 gold or something to finish. That is simply out of proportion.

Entitled? Not necessarily. Many don’t want it for its rarity, they want it for its beauty (I’m one of those — I don’t give a flying fig for the rarity or dirt commonness of a skin, if it fits my look, other than “marker” skins like the Celebration Hat, and even that I just want to keep the unique logo and let everyone have baseball caps that want ’em …).
Since the endgame of GW2 is about cosmetics I think it makes sense to have rare items like this. Otherwise everyone would look even more of the same. Like with legendaries which got way way too common.
In general the more shiny and or outstanding a skin is the more rare and exclusive it should be.

If anything daily/monthly AP should be deleted completly and the AP from permanent achievements doubled to make up for it.
I still do dailies because the 2 gold and 3 skillpoints are worth the tiny time investment.

The halloween 2012 shoulder pieces have made no return since 2012
If they expand the slayer achievements they would have to use massive numbers like 10k+ kills though. Otherwise you would have them maxed again after a month (excluding giant slayer which is fine the way it is).

All the HoT exotic skins are super rare drops. Only found 2 of the special exotics since HoT got released. I like it this way. Rare drops give value to the content.
Some skins are more expensive than others due demand.
Compare Lightward’s hammer and staff. The hammer has the same droprate but much lower demand so it only costs 35g instead of 500g.
Buying it with VB currency would defeat the purpose unless it would cost 250k+ airship parts.

10% for 1 point, 20% for 2point and 30% for 3pt.

I HATE the Jormag item. I have done Claw of Jormag a large number of times and still not received the item. If this collection is going to be like that tell me now so I can simply not bother with it. I used to have a character parked at Earthshake. Gave up on it now.

Arent you overreacting? I am #2 on a visible leaderboard (so my account name is easy to grab) and even on bad days I hardly get 20 goldseller whispers, often none at all. Hardly worth making a fuss about it compared to what you experience in other MMOs.

Most of the time, I just go through the motions quietly… but if I’m getting spammed a lot, I do like to reply to their “sales pitch” with cynical or completely off-the-wall comment. For instance, my usual one is “I don’t have money, but I’ll gladly meet you for some ERP so you can show me the Juggernaut *wink*wink*”
I know there’s a good chance that they may never see that reply or even know what language I’m replying in…. but if there’s even a slim chance I can disturb them and make them regret pestering me….. I enjoy taking it.
