Again, who’s to say she didn’t afk during the duration of the event? You don’t know what she truly did or did not do. No one tells the truth when asked. Again, there’s possibly something your friend isn’t telling you. Just saying.
Point again being is they kicked afkers due to them hindering progress towards the events goal. Anyone caught doing so was reported. Enough reports, means gms take actions. Also of coarse devs have powers. That’s like saying retail workers don’t get discounts for working at their store. End of story.
Even if you afk the entire duration its not a bad thing. Afk timer is longer than the duration of the event, so he/she is doing nothing wrong.
I hope Anet will review the GM/dev in question and take actions if neccessary.
I have a funny feeling that Jade weapons will be making a come back soon too. Either as discounted ticket or more Jade Ticket drops. Those items have been slowly increasing in value. With the game, they have every right to make adjustments as they see fit, so you can’t be mad at Colin for saying one thing, and back tracking.
The only smart investment currently is in T6 mats. New Legendary weapons and maybe even armor will cause these prices to skyrocket. I’m counting on Precursor armor forging to make some money back. That is… unless they open the flood gates, and increase T6 drop rates.
I would say backtracking / breaking promises is a bad business practices. Especially if it comes from the CEO.
The game is getting worse every patch which changes pvp or balancing.
Its funny how they punish people for something minor as afking, even if they dont circumvent the afk timers. But people who make thousands of gold exploiting are not being banned. I know someone who made over 2000g profit duping Omega Golems and he didnt get any punishment whatsoever.
Its just lazy, instead of designing event in a way to not reward afkers they rather punish the afkers.
One more reason to buy TESO.
Luckily there seem to be very few developers on EU servers, didnt see a single Anet tag in over 5000 hours.
Its their own fault if leeching is possible. Badly designed event. So why blame the people if they go afk.
Any updates to the fractals will need to include additional update to the reward systems as well, agreed.
As for the jet pack, those specific rewards are intended as limited rewards you can only earn during that time, thus making them valuable. It wouldn’t be fair to the people who did earn jet packs for us to bring them back, and suddenly undercut their value entirely.
And yeah that F&F dungeon updated for size would make a good fractal wouldn’kitten =)
It kinda suprised me they suddenly bring them back and crash the market with such a high droprate. Good thing I am not a trade and did not invest…
On the other side Anet keeps reducing the value of my minipet collection, so I stopped buying gems with real money in return (which I used to spend on said minis).

In all honesty, I understand the need to make this one pre-rendered…
There were explosions and such.
I’d imagine that the game engine isn’t really designed for explosive environments.
However, Bazaar of the Four Winds should have been rendered in-game in my mind.
I am not disappointed that it is pre-rendered, I am disappointed that the pre-render quality is horrible. Iv’e played so many games that have pre-rendered cutscenes, but the framerates should be BETTER than normal.
If they are recording it on their own machines, then there should be NO excuse for it to be below 120fps, 1080p. The quality is lower than 1080, and with inconsistent framerates, it is just ruins the experience a bit.
30fps 1080p would be just fine if they would use CRF20 with x264 encoder.
You make it sound like afking is a crime lol. Afk timer is around 60min so all is fair.
ex-DAoC player here, in an ex-DAoC guild. Ex-world wide FPS ladder player.
Our guild was in ESO beta and as “bad” as GW2 WvW is, with population issues, PPT problems, etcetera, we will not be going to ESO. Just because Matt Firor is involved does not automatically make the game a DAoC replacement. It isn’t. (Of course there will be some attrition.)
We also are skeptical regarding DAoC Unchained, with Mark Jacobs at the helm, and that is the game we’ve seen extensive previews/interviews via Mark’s Founders campaign. (Don’t get me wrong, I hope that works out, and works out for Mark.)
It is apparently an MMO-culture “almighty prophetic belief” that every new game that comes out suddenly becomes a “threat” to the already existing MMO games.
We’ve seen this same reaction happen since the 90’s.
Never seems to really completely work out that way.
As I’ve been saying for over a decade at least, the only game killer is the game’s own developer.
Both graphics and gameplay are better in ESOs version of WvW. I was in beta test.
And ESO is much better optimized than GW2. It also supports DX11.
Its definatly longer than 30min. I never got kicked for afk after only 30min in a PVE area.
There are several things going on in LA.
Going AFK there is perfectly ok. trying to circumvent the (currently long) afk time is not ok. This includes e.g. running into a wall. That is exploiting.Dev’s do not have special powers ingame. GM’s do have special powers through a GM-tool. Chris is a GM and has access to this tool. I suspect that he was investigating some possible exploit and saw some people exploiting and decided to suspend them strait away.
Does police have the right to arrest you when they see you robbing a bank??
As far as I know the afk timer in LA is 60min, so currently there is no need to circumvent the timer since the event only lasts like 45min.
you do realize that you can get all of those materials for free? scraping all of the bad loot that the bags give you are more than enough to get a ton of silk scraps.
~ the only bad thing about crafting those things is that if you don’t have any of them and since they’re ascended materials you’ll have to wait 23+ hours to craft 1 piece of it. you’ll need 15 days in order to get 15 pieces, which is why i absolutely hate crafting ascended things, it’s beyond stupid. if we have the materials, then let us just craft it, or at least let the cap be 5 items.
Its not free just because you collected it yourself. Think about the money you lost from not selling it
If they cant get on the main server there always are overflows. Most of the time overflows are more successful anyway in my experience.

I think all kinds of recipes are back.
Again. If they dont want people to leech the event they should just add a minimum participation or shorten the afk timer to 5min or something. If people circumvent the afk timer then I could see a problem, but with 60min timer noone is doing that.
The day they suspend me for afking without circumventing the afk timers is the day I will uninstall this game. Oh and I would make sure to ask for a refund for all the money I spent on this game in the last 6 months or whatever their refund rules are.
You could always just… you know… not leech.
Or I could just stand around in LA like I used to before the destruction. If Anet even rewards being afk – even better.

Actually its transaction done not items sold. If you sell a stack of 250 in one go to one buyer it counts as 1 transaction.
I’m still trying to figure out why anyone is paying 10 gold for something that is 100% cosmetic.
Because 10g is nothing. Even the most casual people can farm it faster than the 250 heirlooms it requires in addition.
You cant put enough people on the WvW maps to make it a worthwhile investment. Maybe in PVE maps, but even then you wont get everyone to use it.
I think its abuse of dev powers. If the afk timer is 60min for PVE maps, who are they to kick people off if they want to afk in that spot? Its their own designfault if they allow afkers to get rewards.
you can also move twilight by transmuting the stats of a white greatsword on it. it will be account bound. then use transmutation splitter on the character of your desire

I dont think you deny everything by rewarding people who were around at certain stages of the game. After all its the only thing to show that you were there at a certain part of the LS – or were rich enough to buy it from the TP.
You deny them a shot at earning the gear and creating new gear isn’t exactly a cheap process. The end result is a dearth of content. All that time wasted on creating temporary dungeons and events could have been spent on improving the game as a whole.
It’s an exceedingly wasteful process just so a precious few can feel special standing around in town and I say this as somebody who has been here since beta.
Since there is no vertical progression (ascended 5% increase is a joke so dont point at that) in this game its all about looks. So Anet must spend the resources to keep making new looks.
And I am very doubtful stuff like monocle or the jetpack take a lot of resources to make.

How exactly do you think the game is going to stay afloat if you deny new players everything? I’d rather have a healthy playerbase than some exclusive pixels. The living story and all the temporary content was a horrible idea.

Legendary pets would be good.
anyone checked if they are back yet? there have been a few patches but nothing in the patchnotes
You can go afk 60min in there without getting kicked. I think people can go afk wherever they like in PVE, its just a design fault if they get rewards for doing nothing.

I remember how a dev said it wont come back because it would be unfair to people.
The keg brawl server(s) are lagging yet again. Rubberbanding and all kind of annoyances.

Most useless recipe ever. It should be permanent or at least give a whole 250x stack of uses for the current price.
I got almost 1 stack of the sub 80 ones already. I would gladly exchange them for 6 lvl 80 ones so I can transmute a lvl 80 set

stop using imgur, upload pictures right to the forums…
Market manipulation wars 2. Nothing else would be the right name for this abomination of a trading post.
The leaderboards are worthless. Both achievement leaderboard, pvp leaderboard and wvw leaderboard.
Furthermore it gets blocked by name tags.
I want the daily activity npc on the terrace – i bought the permanent pass a while ago
You are right. It makes me think if I even want to continue to grind heirlooms for this item.
Dragonite sink is what I need. I could use more empyreal frags.
Anet is out of mind with crafting recipes.
People on my server did karka queen on main map + overflow after every tequatl kill (about 6 times per day). I guess there wont be any more overflows at karka queen now.
Why people use imgur? You can upload pics to these forums…
Good idea, should apply to royal terrace too
First they allow looting it multiple times to revive the island, now they undo it and kill the map again. Nice job anet.
If you just have them to collect, why do you care what they’re worth?
I dont enjoy collecting worthless items. They loose quite a bit of their bragging value if you can buy them for a pocket change.
… Weren’t you just complaining the other day in the BLTC forum about how people don’t need to have “too much gold”? :P
Indeed people dont need thousands of gold, especially if they manipulate the market with it.
But I dont see how owning 1 of each miniature has anything to do with being a market manipulator (aka trader, they are one and the same for me)Well, if minis were to continue to remain rare, it WOULD take thousands of gold to purchase all the miniatures. (You just said yourself above that your mini collection dropped by almost 1000 gold, implying that you spent thousands of gold building it.) That means that only a very, very select few (the ultra-wealthy) would have a complete collection.
Wouldn’t it be better to have cheaper minis so that it’s easier to complete the collection? That way, there wouldn’t be more incentive for people to hoard that much gold in the first place.
Or people could just buy the miniatures in the gemshop by gambling real money. Unbinding these miniatures from the value of gems (starting with dragon bash event) was one of the biggest mistakes anet did so far in my eyes. One of the reasons I stopped spending real money in gem shop.
It needs to happen, but knowing Anet it will take years to get an other improvement after the recent no auto deposit miniatures as collectibles.
I guess 100:1 would be fair, but I would prefer if Anet added more reasons to actually save the people of LA instead of farming bags.
