you dont have to time much with retaliation, guardians have a pretty high uptime by just using their standard skills

The chest is great, you are just aiming for the wrong reward.
It happens that i’m actually after my first legendary and i needed 250 obsidian items… http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Obsidian_Shard …and the only way to get them is through an insane amount of Laurels or fractals currency or 500k karma. That’s TOO much imo, but then i noticed… every scarlet chest drops 3 obsidian items
and i love that.
I did Scarlet 74 succesful times, enough to save me more than 450.000 karma! and i got 222/250 of the obsidian items needed to craft my legendary
The chest is worth it every single time.

Based off another players comment, I just wanted to offer two solutions that are 100% viable for the devs. Let players trade in 15 glory boosters for 1 pvp unidentified dye. Alternatively, let players turn in 1 glory booster for 20 magic find.
I know that glory is being removed, so that conversion won’t work. So, it has to be converted into something we can already get from glory. Two things that you can always get are luck and dyes. Use them. Of course the devs have the real numbers, the above are based on my own research.
Right now, one glory booster should average around 500 glory in hotjoin. (162.5 glory/game * .50 boost * 6 games). So, it’s roughly equivalent to one 500 glory chest. I just opened 60 of them so I could have a basis for numbers.
I averaged one dye per 15 chests; so 1 dye per 15 glory boosters is roughly equivalent; but the player loses finishers and gear drops.
I averaged around 3.75 luck per salvage. So, close to 20 (18.75) luck per chest; assuming no finishers or dye.
In the end run, you gain less than boosters that are used; however, players still can do something with the stockpiles they’ve accumulated.

Because its passive play and when I fight a battle where someone distributes a lot of retaliation and look in the damage log after death often 40-70% of damage come from retaliation. It doest feel right.
Please remove retaliation from pvp its a stupid mechanic for competive play.
Considering glory boosters still come out of chests I am getting them in about the same ratio as I use them up…

Again, it’s about completionism, not rewards. I could care less about meta-rewards, because all I care about is getting 100% on every time-limited set of achievements. But I (very narrowly) got the achievement yesterday, so it’s a moot point.

Really don’t. Achievements are so… arbitrary. There’s no rhyme or reason or theme to them really, they cover various types of a game, but not equally so, and it varies per game.It’s like a stamp collector wanting to collect all red-ish stamps, basically.

Population is based on the amount of accounts on a server… even inactive ones. Anet just raises the treshold for the low/med/high status every few months.

Have a bunch of NPC’s to raise funds for the new debt Lions Arch has accumulated thanks to it’s destruction and be a major part of the PvP matches.
These NPC’s will also be ‘in charge’ of balance, have fun, RP as these NPC’s in updates!
These NPC’s will be raising funds in PvP games. Taking a step further, these NPC’s can get balance feedback without people flooding the forums.
Hell, this is an excuse to bring back the Guild Wars, except instead of battling for the bloodstones, make it a popular game event in Tyria where the people can enjoy the games, a morale boost and economic boost.
Just recently WvW was involved with the living world, it’s time for sPvP to do the same.
As game developers ArenaNet, you need to step back and examine every mechanic closely and determine if it is good, bad or ugly.
I can tell you for a fact, traits can be removed entirely for a different system that can be more fun, more engaging and more freedom for balancing.
Look at League of Legends, they went through plenty of mechanics changes. THERE IS NO SHAME! Roit knows full well when they kitten hard, admit their kitten s ON CAMERA and they have the most played game of all time.

10+ infractions is child’s play. I have 50+ infractions. I can’t post new topics and I can’t post more than once every 10 minutes. And this for no personal attacks or anything on anyone at anet. Just for calling out the fails in the game. IMO they had a moderator meeting about a month ago and decided to crack down on the “toxic” pvp community (as they see it). Censorship on here is currently rampant. I even got an infraction for saying I had got an infraction.
I have never been in a forum of any kind with such an amount of censorship. Luckily I am only at one post 120seconds yet, but it gets worse steadily

From comments I’ve seen here when they added the options for dailies, they DON’T see it as fun. They feel the irrational (to us, but rational to them) desire to get every chivo to be “the best.” They mostly feel like it’s a gigantic, horrible grind.
Its however a problem of the players if they don’t understand the meaning of OPTIONS and think more options mean you have to do ALL of them.
That’s not what it is. It would be options if there was a hard cap at five achievement points a day and you could choose to do any dailies you wanted. That’s not the case.
Indeed its not a viable option if they give additional rewards (achievement points) which are required for exclusive titles and skins.

So I can see them replace Gift of Fortune and Gift of Mastery with something new. 250 bloodstone bricks, empyreal stars, dragonite bars, 250 deldrimor steel, do not seem unlikely to me.
Also why would you waste a huge premium on getting the precursors fast? If you wait you surely save 100s of gold.
So personally I will wait and see before assuming the recipes for new legendaries will be identical to the old ones.
Good luck making 2 of the new legendaries on patchday. We dont even know the recipes for them. I wouldnt be suprised if they would be completly different recipes with ascended mats and the precursors will cost more than the old legendaries in the first days.

Too fix sPvP they would have to devote more than 1% (my guess) of their development budget for it. Which is not going to happen unless Anet finds a way to better monetize (what a word) sPvP players.
The longest dailys take me is 15 minutes, sometimes they are as fast kitten minutes. You can chain dialy’s by doing them 20 minutes before reset then doing the new ones after reset. This way you only have to be on once every two days if you’re just doing dailys.
On nights I play normally they practically do themselves.

Low customization would make the game boring. There are reasons why I find games like League of Legends completly terrible.

Same. Aqua breathers are just useless in the game. Nothing happens if you take them off or play with a broken one. They are probably a remnant of a pre beta stage.
If my internet would suddenly be gone or my computer broke I would have no backup solution for it. So I would sadly be out of luck. But considering the low competition at the top of the leaderboard it wouldnt really matter.
Tl;dr
I’m not asking why people do it, or how they do it when they have time to play for 3+ hours a day. I’m asking how they can make that time every single day, 365 days a year since the game came out and how they managed to avoid unforeseen circumstances stopping them from playing.
I didnt do every single daily or monthly since release. If I would have to guess I left out a month worth of dailies and monthlies by personal choice. Illness, broken hardware or other stuff were not a reason for me to skip dailies yet.
Despite skipping a month or so worth of dailies/monthlies I am still ranked somewhere in top 25 EU. If I would transfer to NA I would be ranked 8th even. So the amount of people who do all dailies every day is abysmal. And the competition is close to zero.

Black lion chests are a waste of money. I wouldnt even consider spending gems for them if there were a 99% discount.

Magnus is worthless because he drops like candy. I think I had like 5 of them and I do not actively farm for the alliance bags, only taking the ones I get while playing normally.
If he would be forgeable he would create the biggest crash to the mini market ever.
I do it because I have nothing else left to do in this game. PvE dailies take 1-2 hour a day, PvP dailies 2-6 hours a day (2 if 100% win rate, 6 if 1/3rd winrate, SoloQ is highly random).
But I am nearing a GW2 burnout so I preordered TESO to get rid of this.
I wish Anet would have sticked with the original 4 dailies everyone could complete in 20 minutes.

I agree. I recently had to throw away a 60€ premium mouse because it was completly worn out after 5000 hours of GW2.
