You’re so cute….r65 with 4.5k+ tournaments and playing only pvp since beta here…so? Going tpvp while lagging and knowing you can dc and leave your mates 4v5 just for stupid achievements should be punished..probably dishonor is not even enough for ppl like you…if you want to farm achivements pve and wvw are there for you. Even if since 2 months i only go pug in tpvp i always play for win no matter if my team is bad or not even if we get terrible matchmaking vs premades…if ppl want a competitive game they should always play for their team and for win otherwise they could delete tpvp already…no wonder why competitive side in this game is almost dead..

Not my fault anet added these dailies.
And I think my 1.5k tourneys are above average, too.

I forgot the game was about the loot. I didn’t realize people actually worried so much about loot instead of playing. jesus.

Well you usually get payed based on how hard a job is.

Which is why Bill Gates makes less money than Chinese sweatshop workers….Oh wait…

I agree with Hown Doog. It’s legit just to kill the boss. Loot is a bonus, not a goal.

It seems you have absolutely zero clue of how hard upper-management work is.

Not even close to hard enough to earn more than 10x the amount of a normal worker.

I support Awe’s proposition. A total cap of 20-25k daily points would not be reached by anyone but the most dedicated completionists (who do the permanent stuff as well), it wouldn’t punish anyone’s playstyle and it would improve the achievement point system, making the leaderboard more competitive (except for the living story achievement problem) + making playing the game like completionists do more relaxed.

If anet is worried that these completionists would stop logging in daily after reaching this cap, I feel there still is enough incentive to get your chest every day, aka laurels.

Why exactly do you wish to punish the most dedicated completionists again by capping their access to APs? Why is their style of play so ‘not good enough’ that you feel the need to put a cap on it?

You don’t understand that completionists are the ones actually requesting that kind of change, because it will improve our playstyle.

Every completionist is asking for this, or only the few that see this as a means to try and cement their positions on the leader board by denying others access to APs?

A hardcap doesnt deny AP to people low on the leaderboards. It will affect the top 1000 much much faster than anyone trying to catch up. And I dont know any top 100 person who enjoys having to do so many dailies.

Not really, commanders have few badges because they buy sieges for it.

ive got 5k badges rotting cuz i buy sieges on the tp

love this idea

gold spammers dont have badges cuz badges are earned… pve commanders dont have badges to waste on this cuz they need all theirs for their legendaries… and it gives wvw players a way to get people from maps not named lions arch.

wouldnt be any worse than those silly scarlet notifications once people get over it and use all their badges in the first week its available.

I rarely have over 500, but then again I buy most of my siege with badge, as well as liquid wxp (bought 110 levels with badges/laurels so far).

While I won’t comment on whether or not I think this is P2W, do people really feel entitled to a refund for their previous purchases and if so why?

I bought a TV one time that was HD and large…now they have new ones that are thinner with a better picture for cheaper than what I paid originally for my TV in the past but I don’t feel entitled for a refund or an updated TV. I bought the original iPhone for $400 bucks but then soon after they released a new version for $200 and it had 3g and more features so should I be entitled for a full refund or an upgraded version for free?

Using the examples, why do so many people feel they deserve a refund or an update to their existing pick? Please no trolling or flaming, I am just curious on the communities thought on that.

There is no difference between your example and what is going on with the picks. I’d love to see the look on a Best Buy employee’s face if someone went into the store and demanded that their TV be upgraded because a newer one came out a month after they bought it.

There is. A new and better TV takes a lot of money to develop. This pick is just a virtual item which probably took less than 1000 USD to make. And they can make better picks ad infinitivum without it becoming more pricy or being limited by physics.

I seriously doubt you know the costs involved in manufacturing a Projection style TV versus an LCD Flat screen(if you do more power to you) but truth be told, the example I used covered people wanting returns on an older item they purchased after they are unhappy with it once a newer one comes out, even if it has an extra feature(s). This was countered very well by a poster already.

But using my iPhone example, did the new one cost $200 less dollars to make 2 months of when I purchased mine? Original iPhone cost $400…my point is that I bought an item when it came out or when I found one I liked and just because a newer one or better one or upgraded version of one comes out doesn’t mean I deserve an upgrade for free.

Honestly, my post wasn’t about the cost of these items, it was about the entitled who feel they deserve a full refund and/or an upgrade to their existing purchases.

By your logic, if this new item did take an hour extra to create versus the old one because of the new ability it has, you’d be okay paying for it and paying extra?

As I said earlier, I’d prefer to see this addition go away myself. I don’t like how they’ve gone about doing it but that’s a different topic to me.

I was not talking about the manufacturing costs, I was talking about the development of said TV.

There is no offical definition of pay to win. For some people its winning to save time. For some its winning to look good. For some its winning to have a statistical advantage. For some its winning if you level faster, especially if its world ranks.

If Player A is ranked 100 on the leaderboard and is willing to spend 18 hours a day doing dailies and other achievements to move up, should he not be allowed to because Player B can’t handle the mental pressure of not doing all the dailies, but also is unwilling to devote the same amount of time and effort?

He shouldnt be allowed too. Game companies should take some responsibility and not add stuff which encourage playing an unhealthy amount per day. There are diminshing returns on all kind of PvE stuff so its not worth doing anymore after a few hours, so I dont see how there shouldnt be something to discourage people from playing 18h a day to do dailies. The 4-6 hours a day are already beyond unacceptable. If nothing changes by release of TESO there is a good chance I will leave because the achievement system looks to be much better.

No longer in signature. Well, that’s interesting.

If there wouldn’t be less choice, then there would be the same amount (if not more) Achievement points and their related tasks offered each day. Great! We are on the same page. =)

Choice is always a good thing!

I didn’t want it sending the wrong message, and obviously it was.

So the laurels, exp and chance for black lion items like the salvage kit is not good enough for doing some dailies?

If they were, you wouldn’t be doing more than 5 a day, would you?

If a hard cap were introduced I would absolutely be able to slow down, as any points I miss or would miss could be “made up” in a sense. Surely even new players would appreciate that, right? I probably would just do 5 on some days, and after I hit the cap, I would do 5 for the item rewards.

There’s nothing stopping you from doing that even without a hard cap, except, you know, people might start catching up to you on the leaderboard, which is what you’re trying to avoid.

Really though, the leaderboard in it’s current incarnation is worthless, a metric not of any player’s proficiency in the game, but rather, of how long they’ve been playing. What’s the point of a leaderboard where incumbency is by far the biggest predictor of placement?

If anything, the leaderboard should be reset at set time intervals, should include only temporary achievements (living story, daily, monthly). Daily and Monthly achievements should have more options than any player can reasonably complete, with a good number of fast, easy achievements (kill 30 ambients), as well as a number of long, difficult achievements (Complete a level 40+ Fractal run), all of course weighted by the difficulty of attaining the daily achievement (30 ambients = 1AP, 40+ Fractal Run = 10).

And of course, with a more dynamic leaderboard, there’s greater room for rewards for placing in the top 100, 1000, etc on the leaderboard. In its current incarnation, such a reward system would be impossible, as it would just be a giant screw-you to everyone who wasn’t here from the start.

Your system would reward people who spend most hours per day instead of veterancy or skillful play. I dont see any improvement. Yes, you can optimize your time to get more dailies done per day, must most achievement hunters already perfected it.

So you’re saying it rewards dedication to the task. I’m not seeing a problem. I’m really not sure why you think you deserve more just because you play a lot or longer than others.

You contradict yourself. First you say it rewards dedication to the task and in next sentence you say people dont deserve more for playing longer.
But its like that already 5 dailies in 15minutes or 20 AP in 4-6 hours. So playing more per day gives more AP.

I love how you quoted my post and then responded as if you hadn’t read it. I’ll respond to each point in yours, with a simple explanation derived from the the text you quoted, just to prove this point.

Malediktus

Your system would reward people who spend most hours per day instead of veterancy or skillful play.

Subdue

Really though, the leaderboard in it’s current incarnation is worthless, a metric not of any player’s proficiency in the game, but rather, of how long they’ve been playing.

Subdue

as well as a number of long, difficult achievements (Complete a level 40+ Fractal run), all of course weighted by the difficulty of attaining the daily achievement (30 ambients = 1AP, 40+ Fractal Run = 10).

Malediktus

Subdue

Daily and Monthly achievements should have more options than any player can reasonably complete

And there you have it. Everything in your response to my post, already addressed in my post, which you were supposed to have been responding to. Post-ception.

Reasonably complete stops at 4 hours per day for me. Everything more is unreasonable, even if you want to compete in leaderboards. What about the people who can play 10h+ a day? You want to add as many temp achieves so not even them can do everything? Even if you add more than you can complete in 24 hours I dont see the sense of this.
The current system is terrible enough and yours would be even worse.
