Personally I am not a fan of the golem chess in metrica. It should be more like the GW1 version of polymock, just against other players instead of AI.
Like to point out that Gold to Gem rate is now at the same point as it was just before Halloween. The dollar to gold rate is once again below 4g for $1.
I think we’ll be seeing a lot of “Mr. Sparkles” minis following toons around next month…
Yes, Anet removed any kind of prestige Mr Sparkles had. Some people deemed it a legendary amongst miniatures, now its just another common one.
I left my WvW guild to have time to do these new dailies. 90% of the time I usually spend in WvW is going into these new dailies now.
What some people are suggesting here is, because the system is not optimal we will make it even worse (either removing leaderboards or keep adding more dailies) instead of improving it to something better (more skill based achievements and hard cap on temporary achievement points, bringing the time it takes to do dailies more in line with others)

There will never be hundreds of people in first place as long as anet adds new content to the game with new achievements. If that would ever happen it would be clearly anets fault because there would not be enough difficult achievements (which the game lacks currently, only hitting Liadri with 8 orbs could be considered difficult so far).
Most achievements in this game are based on how much time you invest, eg how much gold you farmed for legendaries, cultural armors, killing specific groups of enemies etc. Its just a list of tasks you work off with no skill whatsoever required, just time. JPs can be done with mesmer portals in all cases, dungeon pathes can be bought and fractals be farmed at lvl 1 difficulty.
So I would like Anet to stop with the daily madness and add more very difficult achievements such as the Liadri one or even harder ones.
Since the introduction of the new dailies I went from rank 96 to rank 47 on the leaderboard and climbing. Did I spend more effort than usual on permanent achievements? No. I only did the new PvP dailies almost every day, so a lot top 100 people must have given up already.
Am I proud of raising in the ranks? No, I did not really earn it if my competition gives up because of daily chore burnout.

I am talking of a hardcap for daily and monthly achievement points so people like you can catch up. Lets say there is a cap for dailies of 10k points, the first people will reach it sometime next year. It gives people like YOU the chance to catch up over time, while the people who reached the cap must concentrate on long term achievements to seperate themselves from others instead of just doing all dailies.
I agree that limiting the daily points per day is a bad solution because it makes catching up harder, but a total hardcap would make it easier.
But this should be discussed in another thread. This one is entirely about the over time consuming new PvP dailies. I could probably complete all the PvE ones twice in the time it takes to do just these 4 new PvP ones.
Having dailies give achievement points was always a bad idea. People always asked for a leaderboard with permanent achievement points, but they wont even do that it seems. Its nonsense to have a leaderboard entirely based on how many hours a day you can play each and every day.
Sure noone has to do all the achievements, but I also do not have to play the game at all. Some people do want to complete everything thought. Some months ago we had a 3 daily tPvP win achievement already, but it got removed because of an outcry in the community. Now they brought it back with 2.5 times the required wins and 4x the achievement points you loose per day you do not do them. Thats 1460 a year. Nothing to sneeze at.
A hardcap for daily achievement points would not make the leaderboard more meaningless, quite the opposite. Long term achievements like the WvW or high PvP ones would finnaly be worth going for. Also it would mean more people could compete because everyone would reach the cap eventually if they keep doing some dailies.
Not to mention there are always bugs and exploits which let you gain additional daily or monthly AP such as this . In the history of GW2 there have been several instances of bugs like that.
I think the new dailies are too time consuming, especially the SoloQ ones which are mostly about luck since you obviously cannot queue with a team of your choice. 5 SoloQ wins can take anywhere from 1.5 hours if you have short queue times and win everything to over 4 hours if you get unlucky.
I created this thread because the old one got closed thanks to trolls derailing it.
If you want to keep these achievements please at least consider putting a hard cap on daily achievement points, as suggested here .

I dont think you got your christmas card for buying in the gem shop. I spent a lot too to get all miniatures and utility items and bank/inventory/char slots. No card. I definatly spent way more than the subscription cost of a P2p MMO.
Thought I never bought gems to trade them for gold. Earned all my legendaries, emperor title and 500 crafting professions through ingame means.
There could be more gold sinks other than taxes. Stuff which currently cost gems like upgrade extractors, transmuation stones and transmuation splitters.
Anet just took the easy route to also justify why traders and speculators are good for the game.
I wonder if Qaelyn is an anet dev in disguise. Otherwise I must declare him a troll. Why else would he keep posting here if not interested/affected by it.

The newly daily AP exploit is terrible and makes the situation even worse.
For some reason the fractal runner daily appeared 3rd time in a row. This does not make sense if you look at the rotation on the Gw2 wiki.

It does not replace another daily, it adds another daily to the list.
Ok I found out how to reproduce it: get ascalon as your fractal. The daily will automatically finish upon entering it
Forgot to mention: This bug only works if you are solo, in a group it does not show this behavior
The cap was added at a later point of the game because it made other achievements worthless.

Try splitting the stack. It should remove account bound status from it.
Dont forget some still need 5 ectos for the final crafting process.

Yes, I dont think the minigame should be 100% skill based, rather like WvW now, where stats have an influence, but you can still win against superior equipped people if they play bad.
It would be wierd to see Tequatl use anything else but undead skills for example. Or a fire elemental use ice magic.

Well, I just decided to put 25,000 orders on wind catcher skins to see if it even affects anything. My guess is it won’t, and I’ll be able to let my thread die.
I wasn’t wrong, it was a plain and simple attempt at market manipulation. But the main point is that it was an attempt and didn’t affect prices.

Not at all. You can just spend 5-10g on an exotic set and use that one to test new builds.
25 Skillpoints is a joke. I got 1500+ left on my main of them without even trying , after building 4 legendaries and all kind of other skillpoint recipes. This is also without taking part in champion zergs mind you.
It should cost at least 300 skillpoints per prefix if anything.

You can only choose once, its a reward from the meta achievement.
That would be boring, the nature of the miniatures are too different to limit it to a hand full of classes.
Today the fractal runner daily unlocked upon entering the fractals, not upon completing it.
Anet never declared way to skip lupicus in Arah an exploit, does it make it less of an exploit? Anet rarely talks about what is an exploit and what is not, so they have all options open for them.
Polymock of GW1 is great, I never understood why many people hated it.
Of course it can work if anet makes the afk timers depend on the map and not on the mode. Its just anets lazyness to make an universal timer for all pvp maps.

People will never be done crafting unless even better stuff comes. Most people I know didnt even start crafting ascended yet to see how prices develop
