Even if you would win every single game every single day you are looking at like 2 hours. Thats definatly too long for dailies. But not even the best of the best teams have a 100% win rate in teamQ games, let alone soloQ.

Changing stats should stay legendary exclusive. Otherwise there is no reason to go for legendary if you dont like the skin.

Stats could go for ascended.
Legendaries were supposed to be accomplishment or cash farm as we see now, there is nothing exclusive in them anymore.

They specifically added that functionality to give legendaries a little more of a meaning, even with their skins being completely awesome.

But you could make ascended to have like 2 or 3 stats possible (chooseable on soulbinding) and legendaries would always have everything.

Still a terrible idea. How many people need more than 3 stat combinations? There really are only 2-3 truly best in slot stats for each class.

Its not about winning, its about the daily time requirement to pull it off. Not everyone can play 16 hours a day. Most achievement hunters I know actually have a job or go to university, because it did not take unmanageable amount of times before this update.

Since when is making a suggestion arrogant? All I said is that the Solo Queue daily is not on par with all other dailies in the game in terms of time commitment required.

To me cosmetic progression is lacking. Its completly in the eyes of the beholder if rare and expensive item X looks better than common item Y. Many legendaries look exotic to me at best.
I also feel too much (90%+) cosmetic progression is offered via the gem shop only. New dyes, most minis, armor skins, weapon skins… All gem shop. I know you have to make money, but the ratio between gemshop and ingame earned should be at least 50/50.
Personally I prefer statistical progression, simply because it makes me feel stronger and something to do all the time. As said earlier, cosmetic progression is entirely subjective.

The 5% stat increase for ascneded is too small. Should be more like 20%.

Many legendaries are still bugged over one year after release. (Example: Juggernaut loosing metallic effect if someone stealths you or if you use a mesmer portal, or Eternity (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Eternity-bugs)

Its sad there isnt even a single sentence from a dev in this thread. Looks like they give nothing about their most dedicated players.
May I suggest some new dailies while we are at it? I got some good ideas to make the leaderboard more competive.

Daily T3 Cultural Set Buyer – Buy a T3 cultural set – 1 AP
Daily lvl 80 – Reach lvl 80 on a character – 1 AP

Incidentally I think the idea of giving ascended gear stat-switching ability gives us a kind of metric for determining how difficult it ought to be to acquire.

Say, (for example), ascended can go with 12 stat combinations. Functionally the same thing can be achieved by multiple exotic sets, but that’d be far less convenient.

Add in a bit of a premium for that convenience and in principle ascended gear perhaps ought to be priced around 15-20 times the ‘effort’ required to get exotic gear.

I’m not talking about gold price on the TP; exotic gear value has taken a dive due to it being much less desirable now, and so freely available. I’m talking effort in terms of playtime to get the karma/dungeon/celestial/cultural sets.

I’m completely on the fence about making ascended sellable via TP. If the acquisition is tuned too high the prices will be astronomical and we grind gold while watching inflation push it continually out of our reach. If it’s too easy, ascended becomes a redundant brand of exotic. There is a certain convenience factor to that and it is seductive.. but darn it, I like the idea of gear attainable through gameplay only. And gameplay challenges more than through repetitive gameplay, but.. well, not everybody could beat Liadri even if you did put an ascended weapon on her.

Though if ascended remains a source of ‘vertical’ progression and not optional, all that goes out the window: it has to be easy.

I know that’d still devalue what people’ve already put into gearing up their characters, but I can’t think of a good solution that honors that effort while putting ascended in reach of the average 1-2 hour/day guy with multiple alts. That’s the reason why I think communication on the subject from Arenanet can’t come soon enough.

There has been a clearly communicated game plan. Our focus is on Horizontal progression and I felt that Ascended was a necessary step. However as many have pointed out this gear was designed to sit between Exotic and Legendary and thus be a better bridge. Personally i feel like it could be made more accessible through playing different parts of the game. Once we have concluded the discussion on the tightening up of Vertical Progression we will move onto Horizontal discussion. Huzzah (-:

Sadly, no. I do not find it acceptable for early adapters. There has to be a new tier of gear available before the current best in slot can be made easier to aquire. And no I do not own a set of ascended armor yet or even a single piece. But if I would be one of the early adopters I would be angry if this happens.

Looks like you had this problem more often than once :p
you need 3 stacks of dishonorable to get banned from tPvP for upto 72 hours. The duration depends on when you got your first stack. If it was 71h ago the dishonorable will only last 1hour.

If you kill the trebuchet or the gates of your opponents in pregame they are not getting repaired. I am really sick of people exploiting this all the time, especially in tPvP.
You should fix this asap and banhammer the people who keep exploiting this to gain an advantage.

Anyone here have a huge complaint against the idea of being able to buy Ascended Weapon/Armor Chests with some of our account-bound currencies?

Maybe~

Guild Commendations – 150 commendations, any stats
Badges of Honor – 800 badges, any stats
Dungeon Tokens – 1,000 w/ stat combinations matching the each dungeons’ existing flavors
Fractal Relics – 1,500 w/ stat combinations matching the current capacitors

((all quantities subject to change and offered only to inspire thought))

what kind of balance is that? Fractal relics are much more time consuming to get than badges of honor or dungeon tokens.

Which is stupid. Anet should look up the definition of afk. Not every useful activity rewards personal score. If they want to consider 0 points = afk they should give 1 point per tick defending an objective.

It seems like you are getting absolutly no reward if your team is getting dominated.
We had a 4v5. The other team was a full guild group while we are pick up in team tPvP. So even I was there the whole time trying to keep what we have there were no rewards because whenever I got someone downed the guild rezzed them way too fast to finish anyone.
Before I only had this when i had disconnect close to the end and my score got reset to 0 (which is terrible, too btw).
This needs to be fixed.

Stop suggesting stat switching for ascended. It should stay a legendary only perk. Most legendaries look terrible enough so there is no other reason to build them.

I think it would be cool if we can get a proposal together for treatment of stat based evolution as it currently stands in the game and then concentrate on Horizontal progression ideation.

Awesome inspiring ideas from everyone. And while it would be great to have the best of everything, I feel that we have to be practical about this. So far the overall thoughts in the thread lean towards more horizontal progression and more accessible vertical progression. So while I really like some of the more elaborate plans to make stats less gear bound or introducing new gear systems… I tried to think up a proposal with the following in mind:

The fewer resources it takes to make vertical progression manageable, the more resources we have available for horizontal progression.

So without further ado:

Proposal for the treatment of stat based evolution.

In chronological order:

  • (Early 2014) Announce a large increase of ascended gear sources.
  • (Early 2014) Announce the end of stat based gear tiers. (Even if just for the forseeable future, 2 years?)
  • (All over 2014) Use the time bought by vertical progression to come up with horizontal alternatives.
  • (Mid-late 2014) Increase the amount of ascended gear sources dramatically. Everyone who plays about 8 unfocused hours a week will have multiple characters in ascended gear at the end of 2014.
  • (2015) Final destination: ascended gear is just about two/three times as hard to get as exotic gear currently is, so we can afford to make different sets for different builds. By then there should be enough horizontal progression in place to keep us busy.

That is a horrible roadmap. Exotics are worth almost nothing, so 3x exotic is still almost nothing. Ascended is fine as it is.

The problem with gossamer is: Only a minority of people can afford making ascended armor, so for the majority there is only achievement points to be gained out of 500 armor skills crafting.
If ascended armor would be cheap and accessible it would be the bottleneck.

I think the game needs more statistical character progression. More item tiers, higher level cap, more traits. Ascended is not very useful. 5% extra stats is not worth the effort, I suggest making it 20%.

Also more cosmetical progression. Too much progression via the gem shop only in this area. Legendary armors would be a good start.

its not a matter of OCD, its a matter of staying competive in the leaderboard. If you miss the 4 new dailies thats 1460 points per year. If I wanted to stop competing there I could do it right now. But then I would have nothing left to do in this game I got all the minis and all the legendaries I want.

To all people saying soon. Next update is 21th january and the first 4 updates of the year will be living story only. The 5th patch will be a feature patch. So you are looking at a minimum of 3.5 months before precursor hunt or new legendaries are coming.

So I used well over 100k glory for the giant gifts and also traded all the ugly trophies in for more presents (so 5000++ presents). And there is mostly junk in it. No miniature, no infinite bell. Quartz and ascended mats came by the truckload but I have not much use for it anymore (I got 250+ bloodstone brickts and 100+ of each dragonite bars and empyreal stars). Also a ton of useless recipes worth a few copper and a handful of the ascended recipes which are also not worth much.
It seems like Anet wants people to do nothing but grinding to get what they want out of festive events.
