Will the Double XP be applied to WXP?
I don’t think so.
Okay, I know we have a hype train going on for what Arenanet will offer tomorrow with Heart of Thorns. Most are expecting it to be a traditional MMO expansion while others are expecting it to be basically Season 3 of the Living Story. I honestly do not care what it will be just so long as the content I will receive is something I will appreciate. I’m just saying to all those who ride the hype train, don’t keep your hopes up too high for what Heart of Thorns will be because if it isn’t what you expected, you’d be sorely disappointed.
With that said, see you guys at the PAX stream tomorrow.
If Anet would allow it, I’d take a huge chunk of those off your hands.
I got a norn warrior that I still need to get around to levelling.
Chronomancer? Chronos would be better to give it a more unique name as opposed to having the -mancer part down.
Anyway, I took a good look at it and I think you could take it one step further by adding skills that buff the character’s (and party) swiftness in addition to movement.
Not exactly removed, but new characters can’t access them anymore. If existing characters are in the middle of that chain of quests, they can still play them no problem.
I don’t speak for the community as a whole but if HoT isn’t an expansion, I’d probably be a bit sad, but I’d probably hear the details of what Heart of Thorns entails for the game before I make any more comments on the matter. Assuming Heart of Thorns is a brand new season of Living Story, I’d be at least happy to know that I save money on buying a full expansion as all it would take to enjoy it would be just me logging in. If it IS an expansion, least I can tell immediately that there would be major content that comes with it.

It’s alright. I finally figured out how to use two axes. I actually can seem to pull it off, least in unranked anyway.
You know, I always thought that the land skill of the Reef Drake isn’t the most helpful as it just confuses enemies for a short time which isn’t really much. I was wondering if it could be switched to the reflect skill that is only usable underwater?
If you can link me a PvP/WvW build that uses those weapons, that would be nice.
Hmmmm the Arcane Outfit doesn’t seem to work well with me so I’ll give it a pass. The finisher on the other hand….
This is actually quite beautiful. I don’t expect all of this to be integrated into the game but I surely hope that Arenanet at least takes a leaf out what you made.
I think they have had very limited information despite the resources they have at their disposal. I mean, they just amassed weapons and we just took on the mordrem head on.
P1: Trestkon Madklaw. Ash Legion Ranger and Vigil Warmaster. He’s been spending way too much time in the Silverwastes turning Mordrem into weapons. For choice of armor pieces, I gave him the Shadow of the Dragon mantle and gloves, the crimson eyes and rest is the Krytan medium armo
P2: Plukku. Engineer of the College of Dynamics. An asura with a burning passion! She dons Flamewalker attire along with the Magitech gloves and boots
P3: Lady Malkav. Necromancer, Courtesan, Priory Magister. But you probably wouldn’t tell based on choice of fashion alone. For her, I went with the Toxic Mantle and gloves, Sorcerer’s pants and winged top.

Thought I’d bump this thread to follow up on one issue that I believe you guys are working on along with a lot of stuff.
I got no prob with a Kudzu if I roll me a sylvari or even human ranger. But since I am charr, I’d probably get that anyway and shift the skin to a Mordrem one.
Not every sylvari that wasn’t born of our grove would be initially loyal to Mordremoth. I’d guess that by the time of Malyck’s introduction, the dragon’s influence wasn’t even very strong. Besides, chances are that his sylvari people are similar to our sylvari in that they are also purified of dragon corruption. And now that you think of it, we have not known much about what they are like to begin with. I mean.
There was no information about it so far. I’d wager that it’ll be fixed at the next feature patch.
Is it possible that those who are prone to Mordremoth’s influence and go mad are those who choose to be Soundless? Not every sylvari so far has been willing to follow the tenets of Ventari and they either end up being Soundless or they join the Nightmare Court.
I favor the brown bear, the reef drake and the carrion devourer. Brown bear and reef drake speak for themselves as they do just nicely when it comes to tanking and distracting my enemies in PvE. As for the Carrion, I have yet to give him a full spin but his design for a devourer is pretty kitten sweet.
They might as well kill every norn just because a few of them wanna worship Dragon. Or every human just because one of them destroyed a city thus giving rise to zombies.
This game is catered to the lowest common denominator. There are far more casual players than hardcore ones.
You say that like it’s a bad thing. Besides, even hardcore players start out as casuals.
Anyway, having “difficult content” is vague. I bet most of the content that this game pushed out started out difficult but players manage to pull it off after a day’s worth of tries. What are you after when it comes to difficult content.
I can think of one idea.
You know how in most raids in other MMOs, the tactics of a boss changes depending on how much health he has left? Why not have that be applied to world bosses as well? Take Tequatl for instance. If he is like 25 percent health or something have him do something powerful like flying in the air and firing a dragon breath critically harming the main zerg force if they weren’t able to evade in time.

I mainly play Human or Norn characters, and in light of these news, I will stand side by side with any Sylvari who tries to defy the control of Mordremoth. They’ve been successful while the Pale Tree somehow protected them and have shown themselves as worthy allies all this time.
The moment they’re suddenly in trouble, we turn on them? I will be so godkitten angry if my character doesn’t take the side of Canach now, I demand that my character at the very least gets the choice whether or not to side with the Sylvari who still try to remain out of Mordremoth’s control.
Likewise. I treat sylvari like everyone else. They do right by me, I do right by them. They attempt to stab me, I shoot them in the face with my arrows.
Hello there. Now that Season 2 is concluded, I was wondering if you guys have any info on how you guys are holding up in fixing the Personal Story chapters. Some information would be nice.
Well, I considered buying it after watching reviews from Angry Joe and ChaosD1. It did seem to be very story oriented compared to most MMOs (I can only think of a few others).
Though due to certain things I need to deal with, I didn’t buy the game until 2 years after it came out, around the same time the Festival of the Four Winds was introduced.
The greatsword looked kitten impressive in my eyes. It’s an acquired taste for sure. I for one am not fond of the longbow simply because it felt small compared to my beloved Dragon Jade.

I wouldn’t say Sylvari hate is unfounded… they kind of came from nowhere, Charr and Humans were on the surface of tyria for a very very long time, had many wars over it. Only once the Elder Dragons started stirring, did the Norn and Asura appear, however, they’re also established races and their origin isn’t completely random and in the middle of existing empires.
So are you talking from a player perspective or an in-world perspective?
From a player perspective I’ve loved the sylvari since they were announced in 2007, the same year that asura and norn were introduced as well.
From an in-world perspective, the sylvari appeared, were attacked by the asura out of ignorance, then went on to contribute helpfully throughout Tyria to various causes.
So yeah, I’d say that sylvari hate is unfounded.
Agreed, though there are reasons to hate certain Sylvari. The Nightmare Court and those who join pirates.
The Nightmare Court perform more attacks against other sylvari than they do members of other races. Their goal is to turn the Pale Tree, so hurting other races doesn’t really help. Hate the Nightmare Court, not the sylvari.
There are pirates of every race, hah
I wasn’t saying for people to love every sylvari ever, I’m just saying a hate of the entire race is a little silly.
Hating the many for the sins of the few is very easy to do.
So, in other words the most cited, fanfiction-ish and unfounded theory since beta was supposedly one of anet’s story’s greatest mysteries?
I hope that isn’t something the writers are proud of.
I don’t even really know what to say. Just wow. Lame.
How exactly was that theory unfounded. When it all came down to it, it does justify how Sylvari can be consumed by nightmare and how it’s virtually impossible to bring them back to the light as they are originally made to be Mordremoth’s minions and that all Ventari did was to show them the path to the light.

3th instance: nothing shocking happened storywise. Even after taking ages to ‘trap’ the dragon in the middle he keeps having the ‘cannot be damaged’ buff and with nothing showing up to help me I called it a day and decided to never bother with this patch again.
I don’t get it. What do you mean he “cannot be damaged”? I managed to face off against him through circling him with fire and then damaging him. :/
Lucky you, lol. When I tried I couldn’t select him by cycling with the ‘tab’-button and manually select him showed the ‘Invulnerability’-buf. Not trying again though, knowing anet the ‘real’ challenge is him having a truckload of hp anyhow :p
Based on my fight as a Ranger, I faced him twice. He wasn’t as beefy as when I first faced him in Dragon’s Reach.
Was not impressed with Priory, half the trash mobs would have been fine.
Liked the finale, not sure again which side Foalain was fighting on but since she is completely power driven will guess the dragons side.
Definitely Mordremoth’s side. From the looks of it, she already figured out Nightmare’s true nature.

My thoughts on the Season Finale were this:
The end part is that given the fact that Sylvari are meant to be Mordremoth’s servants is confirmed is justified as to why Caithe is being very secretive. It tied up a loose end but it left one untied. In this case, why did Caithe steal the egg in the first place? Her intentions are true, but they aren’t enough in my eyes without a good justification for her actions. Though I guess she is figuring out a way to tap into the egg’s power herself.
The fight against the Shadow of the Dragon felt like a proper fight. I am disappointed that we don’t get to actually fight him as a world boss, but then again I have yet to face the Vinewrath myself so I can’t say for sure.
And the ending cutscene was kitten impressive so to speak. Least we now know for a fact that in the future, we will be facing up against more Nightmare Courtiers and perhaps confront Faolain herself once more.
Overall, I was very impressed with this finale.

Pretty sure Anet will post it in a day or two.
Whether it be an expansion or a major upgrade to Living Story, I’d be okay with either option. Naturally I’d be happy if it were a full xpac.
My only question storywise is what the hell was that ryltock teasing for?
Yeah, that was misleading. Though we do have glimpse of what he is up to. Either his time in the Mists has given him insight as to what sylvari truly are, or he has turned cuckoo.
Hmmm….. a dark knight would be fine. Though from the looks of the skills themselves, I can picture a Prestige version of an engineer and not a dark warrior. I imagine them as something that pays a heavy toll in exchange for more power. Hmmmm…. I wonder…
Say I have a Griffon carrier enabled but the recipient does not. If I send a PM, will a Griffon mail the message or will it just be the standard white birds?
I got two favorite classes: The Ranger and the Necromancer. Very easy to learn, can hold their own during solo play and I just love classes that have minions/pets in general.
As for my least favorite class, it would be the Elementalist. While that class can dish out the pain in a dungeon and in WvW, they don’t survive very long with my internet connection being less than optimal, I can’t dodge efficiently and consistently. I suppose I’d consider a thief one of my least favorites too for the same reasons.
Nothing wrong with giving PvP some love, right? If you adhere to the majority too much, you lose the other half of the playerbase. You may not care about PvP but the fact remains that there are people who do care about it. Otherwise, the Heart of the Mists area would be barren.
For starters, I would like to see Belinda’s Sword and Rox’s Quiver to be back in the store.
Next, what I’d like to see would be Elder Dragon themed armor skins.
While I do like the idea, I can picture that a majority of dungeon lfgs would practically add in the “gear check” option to their advertisements. This is just a potential risk to consider.
It gives a piece of cultural armor at the end of the level 20 story arc? That must be new as wiki doesn’t say that.
For example
Rewards: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rumors_of_Trouble
All professions
Leather Bag (8 Slots)
2 Bags of Loot
Profession-specific: One of the following: Ruby Heart, Amethyst Heart, Sapphire HeartWhat piece did it give you, out of curiosity?
When I played my Sylvari and Norn characters, I got a chest piece that’s based on their race/armor type (Dolyak chest for norn, for instance)
Do you mean a shield in his/her right hand, like a sword or mace?
Or do you mean a shield as an actual offensive weapon that uses attacks instead of defensive skills.
Because I could totally see a Guardian (or even a warrior) using “shield bash” a 425 range attack with 15-20 sec CD and provides a couple seconds of protection boon.
Ummm.. both.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. :/
I have seen anime that has that concept (Erza Scarlet’s Adamantine Armor) but not so sure with video games. I was also thinking that the shield can be used like giant boomerangs or frisbees.
Okay, so I may have gotten that part wrong. But still, I am all for having a primary shield weapon. Smashing people’s faces in and if you got two shields, you can do a Rollout attack or something. XD
You know those Cultural Armor pieces you get when you finish the level 20 Personal Story missions. While I do like them, I think it just feels off offering just one of those pieces. In my opinion, the entire set should instead be offered but the stats would naturally be lower than the Tier 1 armor you buy.
Even better.
