Where is the kittenery of carrying a mortar, you say?
Hmmm…. if the Mortar were to be like a bazooka, that’s a start.
When it comes to tactical terrain advantage, if you are talking about PvP, I don’t see how practical it is to have you or someone else stand still firing the thing when they got better skills under their repertoire. In WvW, we have mortars already and they pack a much bigger wallop compared to what we have. -.-
Well, I use Celestial myself because it covers both condi and power for me. While the tradeoff is to wait 30 days or more to get the full set, it does seem to be worth it for me. You could work on Celestial, but in the meantime, Knight’s will give you similar results.
In PvE, I can say that Celestial stats are decent in dungeons (especially if you are not the kind of guy who speedruns, but then again same can be said for any stat)
I know Racials have been less than helpful when compared to the skills your class uses. But I hope that you will retain those skills all the same as it provides extra flavor to the character you play.
I’d prefer that as a joke skill.
Hmmm so basically a bazooka? If so, I wouldn’t mind it taking the form of the Charrzooka that you use in the fight against Claw or the cannon Horrik uses.
I am wondering how this is going to work. So will it work like a giant grenade launcher in that you can still move around with mortar in hand and only stand still when firing?
I took a good read at it. Slightly lowering power while upping the condi and precision a bit is a decent trade off. I have been meaning to go for a celestial who leans a bit on the condition side.
Bad idea! Modified Ammo benefits power builds more than condition builds since the damage increase doesn’t affect conditions! That and celestial builds are better as power oriented builds! If you want to run Perplexity with condi sigils, it’s better to run full condi armor/weapons! You’ll deal more damage and be more durable!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
So I was wondering, how much WvW roaming have you actually been doing as a Conidtion focused celestial Engineer with P/P or P/S? What do you base what you say on?
@op I have been running a condition celestial build the last 1½ month, and it have been a lot of fun and quite intrestring giving that a go! Modified Ammunition could be intrestring to give a go, but as pointed out it will only be the power dmg that will benift from it (which still can be a nice gain, I mean bombs/nades hit for a lot to begin with)
The Wolfineer’s you posted is a PvE build, so you would have do make some adjustments to make it fit a PvP setting! Using a Carrion/Rabid/Dire weapon until you get the celestial weapon shouldn’t be a problem at all, in my build I’m still missing the two celestial trinkets where I just use the dire+rabid ones!
In general I think you need to figure out yourself if you wanna stack might or not! With the current state of might after the nerf it’s something you commit to or not! I personally think you would be better of with Perplexity but that’s a matter of preference
This is very useful information indeed. Thanks. That just leaves me to do one thing: make a new set of celestial gear with Perplexity runes equipped.
Yeah. There will always be those kind of people who are apparently kittenish enough to kick the people who originally started the instance.
If I may make a suggestion on how issues like this can be avoided even further, it might be to have some form of password protection in an LFG if someone wants to join that specific party kind of like in PvP if you want to go to a specific player’s arena. That way you will less likely encounter those player types. On the other hand it would also hamper your capability to attract enough players to fill up the remaining slots.
Well, I admit I was put off by the Engineer at first. Though seeing some montages online about the kittenery the Engineer can pull off, I thought I’d give it a chance. After around a month of grinding and getting my celestial and a few days of getting accustomied to my preferred playstyle, I found the engineer to be the more hotkey intensive class so far.
Hmmm I see what you mean. Though Generosity is fairly expensive.
On a different note, I just found Wolfineer’s 3 kit hybrid build.
http://www.wolfineer.com/celestial-3kit-hybrid-pve/
Since I don’t have a celestial shield to go with my pistol, would it be a viable alternative to have a dire and carrion pistol and shield for now? And since i only have Hoelbrak for Runes instead of Pack, I think I should be fine.
Is that so? Hmmm…… I suppose I could go for that. Though I wonder, should I go for Carrion or Dire?
Oh, I didn’t specify that? My bad.
Yeah, I want to focus more on WvW Roaming especially since i have a bit of trouble facing 2 enemies at once when I am alone.
To me, I prefer a pistol/shield than a rifle in WvW simply because I am terrible at controlling the battle due to my latency. I can just sacrifice that for some additional conditions I can inflict onto my foes.
Hey guys, I need some additional advice.
I was thinking of shifting to Modified Ammo with my engineer running on Celestial armor. Though he is currently equipped with Hoelbrak runes atm, should it be best that I switch it to Perplexity or keep it? Also as for my pistol and shield, I am planning on switching Sigil of Battle and Intelligence to Torment and Corruption respectively.
The only thing different about Norn when compared to humans other than their size is the culture they have. To begin with, norn have an innate desire to be heroes or legends in their own right from being the best hunter to even the greatest blacksmith or artist whereas those traits are not as common with humans as to them, what’s worse than being dead is being forgotten in the annals of history. Secondly, unlike humans, norn can shapeshift into their respective patron Spirit of the Wild (Bear, Raven, Snow Leopard or Wolf). Thirdly, norn have a different way of thinking compared to humans in many ways such as not having a fixed government system as they value freedom greatly. They only follow whoever is considered the wisest or the strongest of their kind. In fact, norn only speak for themselves and not for others, hence they have no army at all. At best they can gather other individuals sharing the same interest and cooperate amongst each other.
If there is one complaint I have in relation to this future update is inconsistency where the story dungeons before that would remain as they are but only the Arah dungeon will be changed. I think it would only be deemed appropriate if the story dungeons have adjustable levels of difficulty depending on how many people you are able to bring from 1-5.
That trait setup makes you more of a glass cannon type of engineer so it’s natural you might die easily. What I do to get around that is I use Tool Kit for the extra shield and crowbar for the confusion against Mordrem, Grenades to deal substantial condition damage at a safe distance while only using my P/S skills as finishers and if when I have no endurance left, I use Elixir S. Oh and as for armor, I go for Celestial stats.
To make things easier though, you might need to make the ground targeting set to Fast with Range Indicator or Instant to make you throw your nades and supply kits faster.

Master Blaster.
Of course you would want that, man. How ELSE could you get beyond thunderdome?

The reason I don’t like sub MMOs is because I prefer to be in control of when I want to support the devs who made the game without being punished in some way in case I don’t feel like it.
Well, the fact that GW2 had no sub was one of the reasons I stuck to this game. Unless Anet can come up with a new way to please both those who are willing to pay a monthly fee and those who aren’t, I’d feel better if it stayed sub-free. Though I can think of something close where Anet can implement an autopay feature where it can just take money off a credit card in exchange for gems and a free random item from the Promotions in the gem store.
We should be able to replay PS, just with the choices fixed to the ones we took the first time.
Downlevel us according to the chapter, just like happen with the different maps, and add some achievements to the mix to make it more interesting.
If you want to replay a chapter with an old character, you can. If you want to try another path, you must create a new character.
No conflicts, no retconing, better replayability, no bugs, no complications. Everyone happy.
I can argue this. Some story chapters would involve having your characters choose options on how to approach the next situation. And having the other choices that weren’t the ones you picked initially be present be unchoosable when replayed would just make it even more awkward from a design standpoint.
This is something I noticed about the charr, particularly the Flame Legion in that they don’t have their own mesmers. It’s always, assassins, archers, warriors, shamans and charr-destroyer hybrids. :/
I see your point there. Elixir S is something I’d rather use in PvP than in WvW due to the area being larger. I might go for rockets.

To be honest, I’m okay with having such a feature be made available. Though I probably won’t take advantage of it too much. I’m an equal opportunity kind of guy.
I am not quite sure why I picked bombs and nades though I think it may have something to do to having both skills at the touch of a key whether I go zerging with a group or roaming. And when I tried zerkers, it didn’t really do much for me in terms of survivability, though it did give me some damage. Hmmm…. I could use Elixir S or probably Rocket boots.

Hey guys, I finally got my celestial gear with hoelbrak runes set save for a few accessories I may need to get. I could use whatever guidance you can give me. I use bombs, grenades and a tool kit by the way.
Yeah…. that is a bit of a bummer. I just needed Wynne’s item to complete the set.
Hopefully, some day, you will create a new character….maybe something like the Revenant, and take said character through the Personal Story so you can experience all the restored episodes/parts.
It would be unreasonable to expect CS to replace every character’s gear that played through the PS, or parts thereof, in the last year or so.
Good luck.
I suppose. Still, I am just asking for a replacement for one character only out of the 4 characters I have in my roster. The rest I have halted their PS progress until the fix.
Usually, map completion, and an hour or two in PvP.
Here’s my main concern so far. One of my characters has experienced the flawed version of the PS and since you can’t rewind the progress back, I’d have to reroll another character. While I could just grind for gear, I practically invested a heavy amount of gold on my previous character and it just wouldn’t be fair on my part to have to grind again just to get gold again to re-gear my character. Is it possible to request for duplicates of my character’s existing armor so that when my rerolled copy hits level 80, I can just set him up after? Same goes with the fact that I used a styling kit on him.
I’d contact Customer Service if you have questions or concerns that aren’t covered in the original post or F.A.Q.
I contacted them and so far, they have not given me any options other than “we cannot help you.” I may be asking too much from them, I suppose but it’s not my fault I did not know at the time that there were missing parts of the Personal Story. And I don’t have the mats nor the gold needed to make ascended armor to just transfer over to my character.
Nope, not really as the only punishment you get for going too far in disturbing the peace is getting kicked out of Hoelbrak for a period of time.

I personally gave Bifrost a pass since it’s not what I want my Necromancer to use.
I always wanted to be a plane. But you took that from me, Arenanet. WHY!!!!!!!!
If you don’t feel like playing PS again, why not just don’t do it? You can still play the game as normal and you can just disable Personal Story if you are aiming for map completion.
Pathetic? How? It’s not a matter of “can’t” but a matter of how long it takes to get four other people. You’d find people who would ask on map chat to do the story dungeon with them and most of the time you’d see them refuse or ignore it. Usually it would take me an average of 30-45 minutes to gather people via LFG in case my guildmates aren’t around to join me when compared to the other story dungeons. This way, players can simply don’t have to wait that long anymore.
Exactly how does going “airplane” ruin gameplay? Besides, this is just for one day. Everything will go back to normal by then.
Thanks! Good to see Personal Story has been restored
You mean “being restored”
A question that jumps my mind also first:
Has the Zhaitan Battle anyhow been improved within these works?
Can we ever expect to see there improvements in this very underwhelming battle to become a serious epic battle, that will become absolutely memorable???Because currently in its state it is now, it will be just memorable forever only as a joke of a battle.
Are they any plans at all to make some bigger changes about the End Battle?
Because i seriously can’t beleive that any of you Devs are “happy” with the design of this battle, which got criticized from the very first moment on until today as a“2 Minute Pew Pew Pew "Battle"" cough, if there is even anythign about its deesign, what I would call a battle there, because half of it is just viewing two sequences in which you do nothing and the rest is just boring pew pew pew without any actual serious defense of Zhaitan, which just watches being shot for two minutes into virtual dust …
You worked for so long on it, I doubt so much time is required for just resetting the game to its original state how it was and doing some new voice over replacements from a hand full of characters, which is stuff, which could be done in like two weeks. You’ve proven it for now for several years.
So I am very interested in ,what took so long to make the reset happen, if not something like a redesign of the Zhaitan Battle or redesigns of the Orr Dungeon ect. ???
I’m very curious about that.
I wouldn’t expect a complete rework on Zhaitan’s fight anytime soon. Though we could expect that Anet has learned from their setbacks and would eventually improve future Elder Dragon fights starting with Mordremoth.
Less teamwork required =/= good.
It’s not the issue of lack of teamwork, but rather the number of people who are willing to play the story dungeon as it’s one of the dungeons that’s difficult to get an LFG for unless you are asking a guild. This way, a solo player can experience the final instance without the hassle of having to wait for 4 more people to join in.
Today is the day.
Changing "We don't rez the dead" mentality.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Malkavian.4516
Here’s my situation, the problem lies in a world boss battle especially timed ones, is that people who get downed while waiting for a rez is wasting too much time when he could just hoof it back if the wp is not that far. I’d rez a dead guy or two if needed but usually if there is plenty of time left or when it’s safe to do so because the ressurector would be vulnerable themselves if they do the reviving.
It would be even more hilarious if everyone played the beta version of the Revenant. No variety of classes for a day. Everyone is a Revenant. Imagine how that will play out? XD
Okay, from what I have seen…
2013 we have Super Adventure Box
2014 we got bobbleheads
My guess…… we would all be stick figures.
With megaservers in this game, you can meet people from different servers, right? But should the need arise when players from a particular server are in need of more people to join EB in WvW or something like that, declaring that on map chat may always have that possibility of tipping opposing servers off and would react accordingly. I was wondering with the various chat options we have, I think we should have a server chat which is basically similar to map chat but only players from the same server as you can see. What do you guys think?
To be honest, the idea works great in paper but the problem is that there was no proper editing to be done. It’s practically switching 2 chapters around with no changes made to move the story along seamlessly. You were clearing out Orr the one moment and you beat the Eye of Zhaitan and the next thing you know, you meet another Eye as if you have never seen it before only to end with Trahearne telling you that it’s time to finally cleanse Orr, despite the fact that WE HAVE ALREADY DONE THAT!!!!!!
To counter that statement of killing Zhaitan first. I think the general idea is that by cleansing Orr first, you are crippling Zhaitan’s strength to a significant fraction making the final blow easier to pull off.
1 word, 3 letters…..PVP, ull never run out of stones anymore.
Technically you only get as much so long as you play and get it as a reward. While it is a good way to get transmutes, it can be quite a drag if that is your goal in mind. I still think we should have an unlimited transmutation stone for Black Lion chests though. If it were part of the selection of items in the gem store, then there is just no purpose to getting the ones in limited quantity anymore.
