Ah, my bad. I forgot there’s that sub-forum. If there’s any way a moderator could move the post to that location, I’d appreciate it.
Okay, I took a break from playing GW2 in favor of trying new things like tabletop wargaming and Overwatch. I did get back into the game when the new Living Story episode came out but I would really want to be part of a Raid Guild. My main is a Reaper and while it’s not optimized, he has condition based gear that I believe used to be part of the raid meta last year but I am not sure otherwise. I mean, I have done some LFRs in the past but more often than not, it’s always been with VG. I’ve been wanting nothing more than to complete a raid from start to finish and it would really be appreciated if someone can help me get on my feet when it comes to raiding.
If it helps, here’s some information:
I live in the Philippines so my timezone is UTC+08:00. I would definitely be able to do raiding during weekends, usually early morning my local time. I have a headset so communication is going to be no big deal.
Being a user of the Epic Chroma myself, I can say that it’s a kitten good mouse for playing and MMO such as GW2. While I do love the feel for it myself, I do believe there are far superior MMO mice out there from Logitech.
I suppose a new spec revolving around summoning would be even better. Take it one step further by summoning Lovecraftian monsters.
I must say, this is good work. I don’t suppose you’d be able to commision an asura necromancer drawing?
Hello!
I am wondering if some of the more experienced players can share what they find to be the easiest profession(s)? I have a friend who would like to start playing and I would like to help him choose a profession.
Currently I play Engineer and I feel that would be way too difficult.
Thanks
The one I found the easiest is the Necromancer. They are very resilient of all the three casting classes, and with the new Viper stats, they serve me better.
I have found a pc build that seems to be able to deliver what I would want with gaming performance but I would like to get some feedback from gw2 community and see what you guys think The following is a link to pc part picker https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/7MMnTW/i5-4460-radeon-r9-390-gaming-pc
Now if you don’t trust the link this is the listed items that are listed on the site-Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
-ASRock H97M Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
-Team Elite Plus 8GB (1 × 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
-Toshiba 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
-Sandisk Z400s 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
-Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card
-ThankYou
I have a similar build to yours. Not too familiar with AMD brand GPUs myself. I recently upgraded to a cheap GTX 750 from a GT 630 and I found it to run really well on High settings with some framerate spikes here and there during massive events. The recent 1070 seems to be all the rage these days, so you could go for that GPU too if you got the money to spend.
Hearts and Minds is becoming insanely glitchy on my end. I could not trigger the part where I have to suck the bosses into the Mist rifts.
I am curious as to why this is? I understand that this part of the story has no achievements to give but still, starting over from the very start of the expansion’s story would be nicer. Unless I am missing something here.
Bumping this thread.
After the patch, I tried out the story only to hit a dead end at the ley line area. Any chance you can get this fixed soon? Thanks.
Map: 10/10 (sorry but I really like it)
Elite spec scrapper(main) : 5/10
Fun: 8/10I read that many ppl frustrating from new maps. Idk why..
The maps felt very labyrinthian compared to the core maps. And that frustration is understandable. Though it did not bother me too much and whenever I’m in a bind, all I had to do is ask for directions.
@MoonRaiden If a treasure is handed over to you without any effort done on your part, would it be considered treasure at all?
If not everyone can afford 2 hours a day worth of playtime, then why would they be playing games in the first place. While I do admit Anet does need to flesh out some issues the expansion has, I don’t think adjusting to someone’s schedule is the right way to do it.
Heh, I agree with you. The main issue I have with it though are the following:
The Itzel language thing doesn’t feel immersive. Rather than actually creating a language for the Itzels, I see ellipses. -.-
The progression for masteries is a little on the slow side to be honest. I can totally see why people would complain about it for the grinding alone. Though this doesn’t really bother me too much.
Heh, I do have some issues here and there as far as immersion factor goes. Other than that, I am relatively pleased with the expansion. I knew my 100 bucks was well spent.
It also tells some players that they can’t play the endgame, so they should find another game to play.
Either they can’t play the endgame or they don’t take the time to learn it. Besides, raiding is just one piece of a grand part of the MMO.
news flash GW2 is 110% pay to win
u can buy gems convert to coins and buy the legendary, how is that not pay to win?Because you don’t win anything? It’s more Pay-to-Shiny than pay to win. Pay to win by it’s definition makes you better than non paying players. Pay to shiny just makes you shinier.
And legendaries are not substantially powerful than your average exotic. They look pretty and you can adjust the stats on the fly. It just gives you bragging rights in the long run.
I’ll start things off with my Reaper since he’s practically my main character of the story. Revenant will go next.
I don’t mind the enrage timers. Though I was hoping something nice would come out of it like say if the boss performed a special move when time hits 0 causing massive damage to all in the party. XD
Necromancer has been a personal favorite of mine.
Agreed. To change your character’s race would mean having a wonky personal story progress which is one of the things integral to the game. I mean, it would be weird to be an asura yet have a personal story that only a sylvari can understand for example.
Guild Calendars would be an excellent idea. That way it saves officers the trouble of having to remind people of upcoming guild events.
Question: what happens exactly when time runs out when facing a foe like the Vale Guardian? Do all players just die immediately? I never had the chance to explore that part of the beta myself.
Hmmm I haven’t gotten into raids too much to know what it’ll be like if time ran out. Does the boss activate a super move that would wipe the squad in an instant? If not, then yeah, a timer feels really cheap.
Well I’m out, Colin straight up lied to us regarding benchmarks having to be met in order to raid, ascended gear was supposed to be optional, only providing us with an expensive slowly gated way to acquire ascended gear, and still leaving enough of a disparity between respective classes DPS that there will be a Meta group that excludes others.
I will give ANet one week to reconsider before I out in a request for a refund, money talks every one remember that.
Unless your goal is to finish up the raid as fast as possible, I don’t think you’ll have that much trouble with raids even without ascended armor.
ok so i dont receive the physical copy if i buy online?
From Anet’s site, no. You only get the digital version. Yo
I have a question regarding shades. Are shades created from corpses or are they summoned from the underworld like there are portals they come out of in queensdale?
It’s safe to say that they are invoked from the Underworld itself.
It actually is a fresh take on the druid. Most druids in any RPG even in MMOs would associate Druids as either the kind that would transform into animals, or manipulate trees and whatnot to defeat their foes. And channeling nature energy from the heavens themselves is a nice touch.
Well that made that decision easy. Dumping the game. I have no interest in crafting ascended gear just to raid. And for what? More skins to add on to my gear I already made? Whatever.
Or if you feel confident in your skills, you could make do with your existing gear. It’ll take longer than optimal.
I surely hope you will have another BWE coming up or if something like this merits a reason to push the expansion back a month or two if it will mean that players will have a fully refined experience.

I understand that you need to wait til a price drop. GW2 will always be there. To be honest, while the price is steep, the value I got at the end is pretty much worth every penny.
Looks like I ain’t the only one having this problem. Still, thanks Anet for working on this. A shame that my beta character was tagged up.
What’s stopping casual players from not going into a raid to begin with? The idea of MMOs is to have players interact and work together to complete a common goal to begin with. They’ll eventually find someone that will be willing to help them in braving the raids.
In one month or less after the xpac hits, there will be video guides on Youtube telling everyone exactly how to beat them all with minimal practice and thought, and Metabattle will have easy to duplicate build templates.
It’s bound to happen eventually.
Guess it depends on how you look at it. If looking at old PVE content like Dungeons, Druid isn’t necessarily great. PVP/WVW it has a lot of potential to shine. Nothing really can be said about new PVE content like Raids, but this BWE3 is the first chance for people see how a Druid might be able to fit in.
Agreed. If Arenanet can pull this off, Raids might be on a whole different level than dungeons in that you can’t just stack on a safe spot and smash every key you have. It’ll probably be like fighting a world boss with just 10 people. :P
In a PuG, I wouldn’t care much if a ranger would be in my party. So long as he is comfy with the class he plays, that’s what matters?
The items in question have been around for too long, haven’t they? Still, I got all that I need from the collection about to be boxed away.
Nice to know that GW2 is bringing Raids though the trailer doesn’t really say much other than you have to know how to maneuver the right way to avoid getting killed. And the fact that it’s 10-man is a good start but still underwhelming for guilds with a lot of members. Here’s to hoping that as time goes on and if the GW2 version of raids are well-received, we’d have raids that can accomodate maybe 20 man?
While I always think of " a name is but a name", Scrapper doesn’t have a very solid ring to it. I’d have preferred Forgeman myself.
My main issue with the utilities is that the healing gyro does not hold a candle to the healing turret. I doubt I’d use it anytime soon unless tweaks have been made to make them seem attractive from my perspective. The stealth gyro is not only visible, but it can’t seem to keep up with engineers meaning that he won’t get consistent stealthing unless he slows down a notch.
And to be honest, I’d have loved to have one of the gyros replaced with one that is basically a mobile rifle turret. But what can I do? :P
I named my sylvari revenant Mascarvin after one of the Geniuses in the Log Horizon TRPG. ;D
To answer the question, no. HoT isn’t pay to win per se. The new skills are just that, new skills. But they aren’t by nature drastically powerful compared to the skills all of the classes have. At least that’s my opinion on the matter.
I suppose there is no harm adding in mount equivalents so long as they don’t provide any obvious benefits other than just for the fun of riding something. If I recall, mounts exist in MMOs like WoW because they are needed to traverse terrain much quicker when compared to going afoot.
Personally, Zerkers suit me just fine as a Reaper because he would have his own natural survivability with the Reaper Shroud alone.
Let’s also consider this, the scythe the Reaper conjures is nothing more than a construct and not a real object.
Hmmm I’ll probably go Soldier for this one. I’d prefer not to have a second zerker class since my Necromancer currently fills that role.
Eh, I welcome new players into the fold.
That would be nice in my opinion. I am not a fan of what the launcher looks like right now, which appears to just be a generic rifle skin
My personal interpretation for Statics is that the “hourglass” is a symbol for time and tradition. And Statics krewes in general like to use methods that are already proven or they like to preserve old knowledge for future generations.
For Synergetics, the way I see their symbol, it’s like multiple pieces forming into one massive shape which would hold true to their vision in that in the eyes of the Eternal Alchemy, everything is connected to form a grand design.
