I hope so. The best minis are the golems.
The build itself doesn’t have to be powerful. Just one that would save me the trouble of shifting gear. If it helps, the weapon I use is a rifle though I may be inclined to go for a pistol and shield. As for my weapon sets, I am using a flamethrower, bombs, grenades and a turret crate. If you can link me to what you think is a good build, I’ll be thankful.
Wintersday is approaching. I was wondering if we will get Mr. Sparkles minis this year just like before. Oh and just so I understand how you could receive it back then, I saw on the wiki that says “Purchasing 4000 gems total December 2013”. Does that mean, if I buy say: 4k gems this month, will I get Mr. Sparkles during the Wintersday event or something?
What I really REALLY want out of GW2 is better boss fight mechanics against Dragon champions. In that I want the Dragons to be more on the offensive during a world event rather than just standing in one spot taking punishment from an army of players. Oh, and I’d also think it will be cool if we can permanently get to cripple said dragon champion’s capabilities depending on which part/limb do we damage the most. In short, kind of like how Monster Hunter does it with it handles it boss fights. Aside from that, I got what I want out of Living Story.
Some people just disregard it because it’s not what they want I would think.
If all I was interested in was a story, I’d play SW:TOR, which is inarguably superior for story.
Yeah there is SWTOR, and I will admit that it’s story is superior to GW2. It’s just that it’s subscription model just irks me from it. I know it went F2P but from what I know of it, while I would get to enjoy the game’s story in full, I won’t get to enjoy everything else unless I subscribe or something. Least in GW2, I get to enjoy all what it has to offer and I pay because I want to. Simply put, it caters to what I seek in an MMORPG after all these years of me shoving them aside or rather quitting before coming close to reaching max level.

Episode 8 is Tangled Paths and it already came out. If you are referring to Seeds of Truth it will come out December 2nd alongside what I think is the PvP matchmaking patch.
EDIT: based on the wiki, I counted the Festival of the Four Winds.
I have not played Season 1 but I have heard mixed reactions towards it so far. But when I played Season 2, I have my own mixed reactions but my positive reaction to LS outweighs the negative. My reason for this is that I am a very story-driven player, which is probably why I can never get into any MMORPG for very long, especially sub games. It feels like I am playing an episode to a series on a bi-weekly basis as opposed to most MMOs where I think the story progression goes once every few months or so (I am not too sure of that myself). This is one major selling point for me that keeps me committed to GW2 and I hope that doesn’t change.
The continents of Cantha and Elona would definitely be good, though given the Living Story, I can’t say they’d give us the entire continent to explore in one massive update.
@Mental Paradox I can probably assume that considering much has changed since Factions, or we can band together to take down a Canthan tyrant emperor or something to liberate it and eventually make it another town hub for players to mingle with. That would be a good start. We can start by say having the Pact or unified Tyria function form a base of operations in a certain Canthan location or something.

The four classes mentioned are good at using GS in their own right. It all boils down to what playstyle you want from your class. It seems that Warriors having GS is like a general rule because it deals really good damage. Guardians, from my experience feel more comfortable to use as I like their whirling attack compared to the Warrior. I have my Ranger use a GS as his secondary and its the best for mobility and against mobs and it’s skill 1 saves a great deal in my dodge meter. Mesmers with GS have a real strong skill 1 ability especially at longer ranges in addition to the AoE skills it offers.
I was very conflicted on what mask should I use. In the end, I made the switch to the green one.
Yeah, I can see that happening.
Vote goes to FF14.
I like developers that respect their customers.Yes, like the first game they put out had to be completely revamped because it sucked so bad. It’s so funny how people forget stuff.
To be honest, Final Fantasy 14 isn’t too bad of an MMO. It starts out painfully slow but it at least plays well. Though a part of me thinks it’s more like a remake of Final Fantasy 11, than a completely different game just from the races alone. And I will at least commend them for actually going back to the drawing board and do it all over again.
If there is one thing I would think Elder Dragon Champions would need to be in future updates is that they need to be more aggressive and mobile as well as being huge. Because the more I look at the world bosses, their attacks is just their way of brushing you off rather than flat out destroying the group, which can get tiring the more you face them. Plus it would give more players reasons to balance out their defensive and offensive capabilities which I think can also lead to plenty of opportunities for strategy.
If there is one risk I can picture assuming you at Anet WILL work on something like this in future updates, it would be framerate spikes which could lead to players with less than powerful PC rigs like myself to find difficulty in figuring out what should I do next. Plus it could up the difficulty really high to the point where it can turn a lot of people off especially if they just want to kill a big monster and a get a reward in the process.
I hope you will take this into consideration because this is after all an MMO where you face dragons.
Thanks.
I still vote for GW2 because out of all the MMOs I have played, even WoW, this is the first MMO that gave me good reason to even go to max level. Not even WoW did that for me despite how amazing it is.
Expansions will eventually come. I don’t know when but I always get a feeling they will come in one form or another.
Would Ash Legionnaires be more likely be commandos compared to Iron and Blood? I made my Charr character into a ranger who wields both a bow and a greatsword thinking that Ash Legion’s best tactics are assassinations (of them done via sniping) and if necessary, hit and run tactics (which is where the bow and ALSO to an extent my greatsword comes in). Plus, in contrast to most Ash Legion Charr who wear dark colors, mine is mostly white with some traces of white since I have him doing a lot of stuff in the Shiverpeaks.
What are your thoughts?
I will give the above name a 7/10 because the name Trestkon matches more with human.
My charr guardians name is Modreth Nightstep of the Iron Legion.
He was originally situated in Ascalon with his warband, but they left to go help the norn fight the ice brood in the Shiverpeak Mountains.
Yeah, but looking back, very few Charr in the game actually have human names like Tybalt Leftpaw.
Amby Baeltongue? It’s unique even for Charr standards in my eyes, I’d give it an 8.
That could work though that only applies to individual servers, I would think. Plus, I see the general chat as being the equivalent of WoW’s tradechat (I can be wrong on this) in which it’s just going to be a spot for trolls to just spew out random stuff.
It can work out different ways, honestly. Some people learn differently than others. While I admit, I miss having to unlock new skills the more I use a weapon, but if the trade off is I don’t need to repeat it with a different weapon, I suppose it works. Besides, the levelling to 10 is significantly faster for me to get the skills I need.
If you want this type of thing go play a different MMO. It’s bad enough that Norn, Asura, and Kodan exist at all; we don’t need anime catgirls to de-class the game any further.
Way to go in shunning a person’s idea for improvement.
To the OP, I like this idea myself.

Been replaying the Living Story recently and I just noticed that while Taimi is limping, she makes grunts of agony. It’s creeping me out. :/
If there is anything I should give mention for is some form of compensation for how long it took to fix a glaring issue.
I thought ascended items are just slightly powerful versions but less than a legendary in some respects. Because of the agony infusion slots they provide they also make for really useful gear in Fractals.
When you put it like that, it’s almost as if they are just borrowing power from an external source rather that what is their own. Hmmm…. this may be tricky to pull off indeed thinking about it now. I still want my D-Series to have a hotkey that can trigger it’s barrier on my command though.
I can understand say the Charrzooka being imbalanced but I really think the Asura’s Golem racials need more oomph to them in that they need to be utilized often. Think of the players who want to play golemancers, eh?

Enhancement. Also on the bright-side of things, you can have a laugh at the thought that someone at some point said “Hey, this is a good idea.” It reminds me of that exploitable comic strip in which the one sensible guy gets thrown out the window for sharing his sensibility to the board.
WHY did you have to bring up SWG. Now i feel depressed again. Guess i’ll go play SWGEmu for a little bit =P
Hmmm… I don’t know about that. From what I understand, the NGE was a complete overhaul of what SWG making it into a totally different game. GW2’s NPE was like a smaller version of that.
Still, it could add more spice to the how things work out. Metas do need to be dynamic to keep things interesting for better or worse. There will be balancing issues, sure but what’s one more gonna hurt? XD
That’s a possibility. If they got a name contract service in the gem store, why not a guild name changer.
Here’s my take on this based on my experience playing asura and charr characters. I noticed that while their racial skills are awesome, they are less practical to use when compared to their profession skills. For my charr character, my main concern is how huge their cooldowns are especially after expending the Charrzooka ammo and I won’t mind keeping the damage intact but rather just lessen the cooldown just a bit to say… 90 seconds or so?
For the Asura on the other hand, I got a real bone to pick with them because one thing I love about these guys is the golems they create especially their D-Series Golem. For a defensive golem, he’s really quite selfish when protecting himself. Plus, this is one such instance where I wish his summoning was permanent like a Necromancer minion. Simply put, I think Asura golems stand by you much like a Necro’s minion and have his racial skill hotkey be replaced with the golem’s skill so that you can feel like you are(to an extent) in control of your golem.
Can someone offer my an explanation of why it works?
If we take it say on what we see on character creation, in addition to what he says he saw in the dream, he may have acquired information subconsciously related to engineering to the point where he can do the basics of that profession naturally.
Why do I get the feeling I will see Animus project levels in how they go back to the past? :/
I think they won’t revert most of the old stuff back. It’s no concern to me either way. All I just want is the Personal Story fix because thats the only part of the patch that remains broken.
“To catch a thief, one must become a thief.” Does that mean I should play a Thief class just to play this update? lol
But seriously, from the looks of it, looks like we’ll be seeing how Faolain turned the way she is. Though I wonder what the hell does this have to do with Caithe stealing the dragon egg? I probably wouldn’t know until much the update comes out. I really want to see where they are going with this.
Another Example : Think about the Berserker Meta Problem.
Many players play berserker because the speed they provide in finishing content.
Now, many discussions are about how to make other classes appealable, make changes in Champions or damage spikes, changing whole dungeons layouts etc.NO! this is not the solution. Solution is to stop the players percieve the content as money runs. Thats how you actually fight the source of the Problem.
In that example Berserker builds truly stand out because of that need but you can always go for a different playstyle based on what your personal needs are. If you want to, you could prioritize going for healing power if you want. While changes to meta are welcome, I also think that it all boils down to player’s choices.
The point is, even if Anet would make changes to address this, what makes metagaming exist is because a demand was created for it by the players of said MMOs out of all the choices there are.
(edited by Malkavian.4516)
I think what the OP is trying to say is (correct me if I am wrong) is that map and dungeon farming stands out way too much above the rest that the other ways to play the game don’t seem as popular.
Like everything else, people’s needs will never be fulfilled. It’s human nature. If we got everything we want, we would eventually get bored. There’s nothing wrong with complaints from the players because it just shows they love the game so much that they desire improvement. What I have no tolerance for are those who cynically whine about what they were given saying that it’s not what they asked for.
My problem lies with fixing the Personal Story because that element of the game is what got me to buying this in the first place and I’ll be kitten ed to see that tarnished. If they wanted to modify it, it’s fine so long as they just do it right.
It’s not my place to judge farmers on what they do. But from the way I see things about these farmers, like most gamers want instant gratification for doing something easy. What makes an MMO stand strong in my eyes is the number of options available on how to achieve your task. Sure you can buy the mats, exotic loot and perhaps precursors and legendaries you want at the Trading Post but you could always pull this off through other means. It’s just that because farming stuff is the easiest thing to do and understand, it’s an option that a majority of players, myself included would pick in a heartbeat because it’s more or less their mindset.
That’s what I think anyway.
I deleted a character without realizing that my infinite mining pick was still there. Now I can’t get it back. Oh well, lesson learned.
If that is the case, I don’t see why not? Nothing wrong with a bit of change with how they distribute information to the fans without having it bite them in the kitten . Though, even if they did provide such information, I’d take it with a grain of salt all the time to avoid disappointment.
In the end, not everybody will be satisfied even after a major update comes out. You can’t please everybody, you know.
Of course. That’s why any decent MMO company should inform their players about future direction for their game. So they may decide whether they should stick around or not, instead of finding this on the patch day few years in the future.
Unfortunately Anet seems to prefer stringing people along for as long as possible. This is why they avoid any definite announcements. This may be also why they delay with introducing any definite content – as long as the future of the game stays undefined and nebulous, they can pretend that everyone will like it. Even if they do know it’s simply not true.
Pretty much all the details of Warlords has been talked about for a year. To the point of Blizzard publishing and keeping updated line by line notes. Everything was known about the expansion before it came out. Creates huge excitement for the game. Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm(which is awesome to play btw), Project Overwatch. all of these are talked about and tweaked for months before release will near full transparency before release. Which method of communicating with players seems to be better?
The problem with AN vs Blizz vs even CCP is that Blizz is capable of delivering on it’s hype. CCP is capable of delivering on it’s threats. AN talks more grand talk and talks and talks. They probably realized that they can’t deliver their hype so just stop hyping.
You forget that although Blizzard can deliver, they also got the resources, much greater experience with MMOs compared to Anet. Whether the hype becomes great or not on their part is entirely up to the person who gives in. If they want to keep things under wraps until they think it’s okay to reveal more information, I say go with it. I got all the time in the world.
I dunno…. I’d give it a 7/10
My new charr is called Trestkon Madklaw.
Sure you can! Only 800 gems in the Gem Store!
I’ll take it either way.
In the end, not everybody will be satisfied even after a major update comes out. You can’t please everybody, you know.
Before I begin, know I am very grateful for the Living Story updates, that I am. I like the idea of episodic content every couple of weeks letting my character’s story unfold. With that being said, I like to say that Season 2 seems to have a lot of padding in it before moving on to something good.
First we got looking at stuff on Dry Top, then negotiating with the world leaders, then we help them do their errands, then do a meeting, then start to move out and then Caithe has to but in. Despite what we get, I get a feeling that the pacing is moving unnecessarily slow and it seems like in the end, we would accomplish very little in this season.
This is just the major negative I have with this season. I never played the first season at all, so I don’t know if was even worse in terms of it’s pacing. Either way, I’d like to hear your thoughts .
Taking a turn for the worse, you say? Last I checked, I don’t see that happening outside of technical issues that are present and are still on the verge of being fixed.
Well let me try to make this in a more simple question
- Will there be a new expansion?
- Will there be new Classes/Professions/Weapons/Higher character stats/Levels?
- And if it’s a yes, Are we going to wait a year? 2 years?
Enough with the LS small contents and no endgame enjoyment anymore with them, seriously.
You’ve made the approach in season 1.. There were ups & downs..
Now Would YOU please focus on a BIGGER content? Expansion?
Picture this from a company’s standpoint. If they answer either one of these questions, their expectations are set and not only that, it’s highly likely that they will stop playing the game until the expansion comes around. Simply put, if they are ready to release an expansion, they will release a trailer of it.
Simply put, if you are just going to keep on demanding this, its not going to make the expansion come any faster. If it does come faster, expect it to be very sloppy.
I for one am confident that they will release an expansion in the future.

I believe I understand you’d like to know if the Personal Story can be “reset” to a previous state. I have sent an email to ask about that and will let you know when I get some info for you.
i think i might tear up a little, hope is restored somewhat. to be clear though gaile, i think it’s almost unanimous amongst players that we would very much like the PS to be put back the way it was, not just temporarily, but permanently. keep the every-10-level block if it’s felt as necessary, just make the orr related arcs longer. while the change was supposed to make them shorter to begin with, as it was felt the orr arc was too long by whoever is in charge of such things, i think most players can probably say the length is worth it if we can have the story back to the way we liked it most. i also think most would certainly prefer the team not spend a massive amount of time just trying to patch the plot holes with changes to dialogue, cutscenes, etc. It would be much easier and much more appreciated if it could just be reverted back the way it was, order and length wise. i don’t claim to know how to code things, but i don’t see it being very difficult to just put code back in and rearrange code that actively exists. but still, it’s good to see a red post in this thread that is giving us some information, even if it is “we’ve heard you all Q_Q’ing, so we’ll try to fix it” :P
thanks gaileP.S. my whole “i think all players” and “most players” things are mostly drawn from what i’ve seen here and in-game, so please no “you don’t speak for all players” or “stop showing your opinions as facts agreed on by everyone” replies. these are just my opinions based on what i have seen both in the forums and ingame, so please no hate my fellow players.
I’m with you on this 100 percent. But in my opinion, if they are going to stick with this arrangement, that means adding something new to make the new arrangement be seamless. I just hope that Anet learns their lesson in that they should NEVER tamper with the story now that it’s gone full release no matter what the people may complain about. If they are legitimate complaints about it, they should just learn from those mistakes and improve upon it in future story chapters.
I just now decided to pick up on personal story from forging the pact on my guardian and I…. this makes no freaking sense at all anymore.
The prior arrangement of chapters made sense, you gradually pushed your way through Orr, now you go straight from Concordia to Fort Trinity with 0 development in between it goes instantly from this barely cooperating group operating out of a rickety wood fort that has now been torn apart by Mordrem vines… to operating out of a high tech super reinforced fortress with mega lasers and cannons and the pact working together as an elite fighting force overnight. They’ve got an orb that somehow is a macguffin against the undead that has 0 explanation as to how they came to acquire it, deus ex machina I guess, and you go from Fort Trinity to immediately cleansing the corruption of Orr in cursed shore.
If I were a new player doing this I’d say Arenanet had the worst writing team in the industry.
This was supposed to clarify for new players? No it made it far far worse.
That was probably an oversight for switching it. Assuming they are going to stick to that route, I believe they need to either rewrite the story from scratch or revert it back to what it once was. And judging from the time it takes, I could only imagine it’s actually more difficult to pull off. What I am at least assured of is this: the missing story instances are still a part of the game’s code so it’s never removed.
