I posted about this weeks ago, it wasn’t picked up.

My ring was fresh out of a newly dropped chest of the mists and came infused. I attuned it just to see if that would affect the Stabilizing Matrix yield when salvaged. The result was no yield at all because it couldn’t be salvaged.

I believe this is a bug because there’s no indication or even a hint in the ring or the attuning process that this is an intended consequence.

By now I’ve spent more time trying to get in than actually playing it.

Edit: I just made it into a game, with 1:12 on the clock. But when it tried to move me to a new game when the clock ran out: code 33, world full. I’m in an instance now, with about 20 players and no ticking clock. I can now play until I disconnect, I guess.

Well, that’s your experience.

My experience just now was that I still need to try for 10 minutes to get into it, and then ended up in an instance with just 01:00 on the clock. At the end of that minute, I got kicked back to Divinity’s to start all over again. Which I didn’t.

Quality of the implementation of the new content may have something to do with it. The majority of repeatable HoT content is not suitable for the client-server model used for the game, and everything suffers because of that. And that’s me being nice about it.

Another very helpful post. Thank you very much.

I’ve been earning 5 fractal daily chest per day since HoT launched. Those chests aren’t the solution, they’re the problem. They keep giving me excessive amounts of useless crap fractal weapon skins that I’ve already unlocked, instead of useful drops. Those useful drops aren’t “guaranteed” as you claim. That’s the crux of the problem. Quite often, I get useless rubbish instead. When those chests you highlighted in the screenshot drop you a fractal weapon skin, they don’t drop you a Stabilizing Matrix, despite the bold claim that the chest will. It’s a lie.

This isn’t even about the specific stuff I’m not getting. It’s about getting loot that I can do nothing with except “right-click -> destroy -> yes”.

Having to destroy the drops I’m supposed to consider the “special”, “better” reward options, that’s stupid. There’s really no other word for it, except ones that would get me infracted.

The happiness is subjective. The occurrence to be designed specifically like that has in fact a use, and some people recognize that dropping something “useless” in a game generally has a use in and of itself.

The stupidity isn’t in dropping useless items per se, but in presenting the useless item as a special drop to be celebrated.

But this is too complicated for you to understand. It seems you already have all the fractal skins, but not everyone is in your situation.

Hence my suggestion to drop the random “special” reward in addition to the regular reward, and not instead of it. But I guess that’s too complicated for you to accept as a solution that will eventually be better for everyone who regularly plays fractals. Because eventually, everyone will be looking at what popped out of the box and wonder what to do with this skin that’s already unlocked, and conclude that right-click->destroy->yes is the only good option.

Hence again subjective. Your whole “fact” is based on you as subject. It is not useless in all cases.

My “fact” is that it’s incredibly stupid to give any individual a reward that’s useless to him and pretend it’s something special. I’m not singling myself out, you’re doing that.

In fact, your entire argument is based on RNG being stupid once it gives you things you can’t use. Getting nothing as a random reward is not per definition stupid.

Sure, but getting something you need to destroy to get rid of it, that’s stupid.

And as with all stupidity, it would be so easy to fix. That’s a property of stupidity: it’s never hard to do better. Give them a merchant value, like the useless broken spoons and ascended rings pre-HoT. Or, like I suggested many time before by now, make them a drop in addition to the regular time-gated drops instead of having them replace those. Or make them salvageable. Make them dance like a monkey. I don’t care, really.

Just don’t make me destroy my loot. That’s stupid.

I’m not counting on a fix though. This kind of stupidity is ingrained in this game. (He said, looking sadly at the multiple account-bound bird minipets he got from Black Lion chests that he hasn’t destroyed yet out out of a misplaced hope that they’ll ever be useful.)

It is an objective fact that it’s incredibly stupid to give someone something totally useless and hold back the regular useful drop and call it a special reward.

There’s this knee-jerk response to call everything an “opinion”, as if some things people say on forums can absolutely never be objective facts. You fell into that. This instance of someone posting something on a forum is actually an objective fact.

Hardly a knee jerk response. It’s a fact you can’t recognize that everything you observe is merely from your point of view. You don’t even know what is objective and what is subjective in your statement.

The fact that not everyone agrees with your statement in itself is proof enough. It means the statement is dependent per subject. Also known to be subjective. Proclaiming something like that as fact as if it counters all arguments is hilarious.

Find me someone who’d be happy to take something useless over something worth (apparently, I haven’t checked) 36 silver. And I mean useless. That person doesn’t get to turn around and invent a use for it. Really, irrevocably useless. Like the green card for the American citizen.

The fact that not everybody agrees with my statement proves nothing about my statement.

So basically because i have all the fractal skins and i don’t need them anymore the drop tables should be changed despite many other people not having close to all of them. Oh that’s nice of you. Apparently because something is worthless to you it’s worthless to everyone.

I have got a fractal drop ever… In several years of playing. So clearly the drop rate is too low and that’s “incredibly stupid”. The amount is kitten on display here is too kitten high.

Eventually they will be worthless to everyone who continues to play fractals long enough.

And well done ignoring the solution I’ve posted not once but twice, and making me out to be someone who begrudges other people happy drops : make those useless kitten things drop in addition to the regular time-gated drop, not instead of it. Everyone can be happy. I should report you for defaming my character.

You may say that. Infused rings can be quite profitable though if you’re lucky. I’ve had as many as 22 matrices from them, and 20 several times.

Attuned and infused rings are a different matter altogether. They can’t be salvaged at all. I tried with a useless ring, just to see what would drop from it. I reported it as a bug weeks ago, because it’s not at all apparent that they shouldn’t be salvageable.

If you want a real-world analogy, this is like someone born into a American nationality being awarded a green card instead of wages at work some weeks.

And for the record, they didn’t drop often before the patch. Never at all for me in fact, which is why I bought them with pristine relics. They only started dropping for me, at an alarming rate, after the december 15 patch that was supposed to improve rewards. I don’t consider this an improvement.

Like I said before, these things should drop in addition to the regular time-gated drop, not instead of it. At the very least they should drop a weapon box instead of a random weapon skin, so people that don’t have all of them unlocked will enjoy the drop instead of having an ever-increasing chance that the next drop will be a useless disappointment, as their collections grows.

If you can’t bother to read what I write, don’t comment.

Fractal weapon skins can’t be salvaged, sold, or TPed.

I get them from doing the fractal dailies.

They drop instead of the things you tell me to salvage.

They are supposed to be some kind of special prize. They aren’t. They’re worthless. They’re a random chance for me to get no reward to speak of at all from a fractal box.

They say people have a better chance to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery.

If fractal daily chests are a lottery, getting a fractal weapon skin isn’t the equivalent of winning the lottery. They’re the lightning.

They don’t vendor, they can’t be salvaged or TPed. I could in fact use those things to apply that specific skin to a weapon without paying a transformation charge, but I already started using the ones I like at the time I got them for the first time. I’m not going to start reserving space for them on the off chance I might save a transformation charge in the far future.

I’m not too bothered about it, I just think it’s incredibly stupid. I had 3 of these “rewards” in the not-even-a-week since the patch, at the time I started on a path requiring a lot of Stabilizing Matrices, and the skins drop instead of those. It feels very unrewarding.

My first post in this thread was reasonably stating my issue. Then someone comes in and picks at one little detail (the price of a Stabilizing Matrix), totally ignoring the grander issue. At that point I felt I should perhaps emphasize that issue so there could be no misunderstandings.

It’s an objective fact.

Getting something with no value or purpose as a “special” drop, something you really only desire to destroy to stop it from cluttering up your inventory, there’s no situation where that’s not incredibly stupid. Getting nothing at all would actually be better, it would save us the trouble of having to destroy this “reward”.

I’m actually not happy about some of the fractal changes. Sure, the increased gold yield is nice. But there’s also the following:

First they offer the opportunity to buy fractal weapon boxes for 20 pristines. So I buy fractal weapon boxes. Now I have the fractal skins, and they start dropping random fractal weapons almost daily for me. Instead of the Stabilizing Matrices that I need lots and lots of.

When you’re cursing your luck for getting a fractal skin instead of a measly single Stabilizing Matrix, it’s obvious that something is not right. These skins should drop in addition to the regular reward, not instead of it, because they’re drops of limited appeal. Even if you enjoy occasionally getting one of these skins as a drop, that elation will quickly pass when you keep getting skins you’ve already unlocked, again and again. Especially when you need hundreds of the drop they replace.

central Tyria mastery points (non-HOT)

and its either wrong or simply unfair for everyone that did NOT
played the story on all 5 races before HoT .. because we got mutiple points for
each race for all races we did before HoT Release.

I have counted all my points and i had 9 for level 10,20 and 30 story for Norn,
Human and Asura.

And after i wrote a ticket the first time Support told me its a known bug and i
should wait for a patch. And after the post from the Dev here suddenly they
say if i still believe its a bug i should write it in the forums and they can’t help
me.
Thats just a bad joke where one hand doesn’t know what the other does, and
i gues Joshua doesn’t know how the conversion of the points at HoT release
really worked .. because if he is right i should have even 6 points less.

I had all the hero achievements before HoT came out, and they only account for 11 mastery points total: 9 for the stories, 2 for some other achievements. No doubling up for having done all the stories before HoT.

Speaking for my own situation, the accounting on this (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks) wiki page is correct as far as Central Tyria is concerned.

I have 13 points in excess of maxing all CT masteries (costing 49), with 4 yet unearned, for a possible 66 mastery points.

All I am trying to say is that most of the feedback around here is unsubstantial and does not provide exploitable information other than the fact that most people don’t want to work for achievements anymore. Which curiously takes away the meaning of achievement.
There is still plenty of enjoyable content around (and I doubt anyone has ever done everything) which is why I really do not understand all the fuzz.

Most of the feedback is very substantial.

Many people don’t want any kind of progress of any other aspect of the game locked behind “adventures”.

That’s all. All the rest is just obfuscation caused by people who have gotten it into their heads that something they write could change that desire.

Being salty about it makes more of an impression. I go out of my way to be salty, because there’s so much about HoT that’s total unmitigated rubbish. It deserves the saltiness. It deserves worse in fact, but that’s not going to be done to it over a forum.

Also, well over a thousand fractal encryptions opened, and still no professor title. Maybe I’m just unlucky.
