Inventory window keeps resizing

Manasa Devi.7958

I always keep my inventory window wide enough to have 10 slots in a row and high enough to display everything without needing a vertical scrollbar.

Lately, when it resizes, it always resizes itself to be both a little too narrow and just not tall enough. The one character that has it happen most frequently is my fractal runner. I do nothing other than fractals with her, usually all dailies. So, this character frequently zones between LA, the Mistlock Observatory and fractal instances. No other areas at all.

Not to brag, but another thing I’ve been doing that I never did before: I frequently open my bank with the fractal runner character, using a permanent bank access. I mention it because it’s also a window using inventory tiles, so it might relate to the issue.

It happened about half a dozen times already today. I’ll try keep track of what I’ve done prior to opening a faulty window and post that here.

I know it as an old bug. I’ve had it happen incidentally when I used the regular size interface. Like, once every few months.

With the small interface size, it happens several times per hour. That setting was all I changed, initially. I tried to solve it by throwing away my temp files, so now a lot has been changed of course.

They should rename the “Desert Borderlands” to “Deserted Borderlands” for the time being, so there’s at least a sense of propriety to the playing experience.

Some people do not appreciate awesome design on maps, do not appreciate challenging content, do not appreciate having to actually work towards something.

Some players who don’t like HoT don’t think the map design is “awesome”, don’t think its very challenging, and don’t think there’s anything worth working toward.

No fun, no goal, no HoT for me.

I’ve recently changed the “Interface size” setting to small. Ever since, my inventory window will not “remember” how I left it. Multiple times per playing session, I find myself dragging it back into the right shape and size. It’s insufferable.

I’ve already deleted all files in the temp folder, which made me lose some settings, but not the problem.

Populations will continue to decline. As players start getting that one specific item or gear they’re going for, they wont want to return to the maps. They’ll go to Tyria where the content is easier and the gold is better.

Not just easier, and I couldn’t care about the gold. The term I’d use for what I prefer about central Tyria is “unrestricted”. Tons of content there that’s not tied to a clock. Not dependent on dozens of other players.

And about the HoT rewards: there’s absolutely nothing I want from HoT. Not a single skin, not a single piece of equipment. No motivation to play there, no fun to be had either, for me. I’ve given up on the jungle already. Maybe I’ll return there someday to finish the personal story.

Why is everyone so mad about the precursor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Manasa Devi.7958

Manasa Devi.7958

The situation fixes itself over time. Several people who realize that a precursor on the TP is cheaper than making it themselves will probably buy it on the TP. What happens when the supply of sellable precursors stays the same (we have to assume it does, as the craftable ones are not sellable and ANet said nothing about an increased droprate) but an increasing number of people buy one? The price rises.

This will go on until the precursors on the TP are no longer cheaper than the crafting price. Voila, balance. Just give it some weeks.

If I wanted a precursor and had the money, I would buy it right now, on the TP. Before the prices rise to what it costs to craft them.

That’s exactly why I bought Dawn the minute I realized how incredibly cheap it was on the TP at the time compared to crafting it. I’ll just have to consider the finished tier 1 collection as an expensive and boring way to gain 3 AP.

The ‘x days’ time-gate issue doesn’t exist. It’s an illusion created by people who log on every day. Don’t fall for it. Look at the real situation.

It’s actually ‘a minimum of x days if you play every day but far longer if that’s not how you roll’ time-gate issue.

ANet’s way of time-gating things has always been horrible. They chose the way that actually encourages people to log on every day. Terrible for people who got into the game with the intention, for example, to only play during the weekends.

It’s more about hitting player attendance stats than protecting aspects of the game against rushing players.

Then u simply quit the game. Or dont play HoT.

I don’t play HoT. I figured that out for myself, 4 days into it. I’m smart like that.

Then why do you care about the adventures then? Go write in Posts that relate to you instead…ghooosh those people…

You don’t get to tell me what to do and where to post. I will be posting about my dislike for this useless piece of kitten I paid good money for when and where I see fit.

Almost every post from you is complains.

That started about a week ago, when I gave up on HoT.

Sure it’s fun to provoke people and complain about something that you dont like.

More fun than HoT, for sure!

But i dont see The point in what you doinh, u dont like The game at all it seems.

I like a lot of it, just not the HoT mess.

So i got one question: why dont you play something that you enjoy?

That’s what I do: I play what I enjoy and I criticize what I feel is unenjoyable dreck.

And stop complain about something that will most likely never change.

ANet has a long history of changing things people complain about. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Cant be fun with all this anger inside you..i feel sorry for you, really.

Angry? I’m not angry. I’m enjoying myself. I’ve been playing a game on these forums.

Let’s turn the table for a minute. Why do you post here? Do you actually expect that your posts can change people’s opinions about aspects of the game? Someone who doesn’t like how these adventures (sic) are vital to the completion of certain goals in this game, will still not like that when this thread is over. Feeble justifications by faceless people with funny screen names carry no weight. No weight at all. They only serve to provide a platform for people (like me!) to post even more. Like I’m doing now. And I’m doing that with a smile on my face.

Why are you not playing the game instead of fanning the flames of discontent?

Why are crafted backpacks account bound?

Also for collection (so you get ascended weapon) this is also just not a “easy” thing that will get handed out to everyone. Earn your stuff. Or get exotic and do what ever you want instead. If u want shinys make the effort for it..

What if I don’t care about the handful of inferior half-kitten skins that they hid behind dozens of collections? I can’t make two turns without unlocking yet another collection I don’t care to finish. And they all need you to do one of every type of content. This dreadful reward design is a clear sign that they didn’t have any faith at all that people would play a lot of that content just for fun. They threw in dozens of carrots. All those carrots don’t make a meal though.

There’s hardly anything new worth playing and hardly any reward worth biting the bullet for and tackling the unfun stuff anyway.

Doesn’t have to be a “dev”, but a representative of the company at least. Customer service is a requirement of any company that has customers. If I buy something from Amazon and I’m mad about it, I tell them and they reply to me and try to rectify the situation.

What makes this company different? I pay for a product, I expect said product to be supported by some form of customer service and there is none to be found.

If you post to a forum, you won’t get a reply. If you send a letter to the company I’m sure you’d likely get a reply. Posting to forums for most companies doesn’t guarantee anyone a reply.

There’s a difference between contacting a representative of the company and posting on a forums. A very big difference.

We are talking about the company that tells people to take these kinds of issues to the official forums, right?

For me personally the masteries didn’t quite deliver what I expected. This bleeds into content.

When I heard about unlocking Itzel language I expected that whole new storylines/dynamic events would get unlocked. When I heard about gliding mastery I expected reaching new areas with new dynamic events.

Instead masteries are mainly good for one thing: unlocking more masteries. The Itzel doesn’t tell you interesting things about his culture, he doesn’t start a new event… he just gives you a one liner and a hero point. Gliding mostly helps you taking shortcuts or unlocking more points.

TLDR: Masteries don’t unlock new content/ interesting stories but more hero / mastery points.

Can you imagine how mad Official forum would be if they lock Events behind mastery, riot 24/7 of course. #gating content #this expansion is too small #gw2 is dead

Actually, they do lock events behind mastery, and the forums are like that.

A few days ago, I spent considerable time in my server’s borderlands trying to find one of the veteran creatures for the daily. Early afternoon local time. Not prime-time, but there’s usually people around at that time.

I didn’t see any activity on mapchat the whole time. Nothing at all. Before HoT, I used to have enough chatter in my chatlog accumulating during the loadscreen that I’d need to scroll up a pages to see it all. Yesterday, nothing at all. And all the way to where the harpies roost now, nothing at all. And I didn’t get there fast. I hadn’t been on the new Deserted Borderlands yet, so I had some trouble getting there.

People are at 100 mastery plus already, 1 month after the expansion came out. Complaining about progression because you don’t like it doesn’t make it not progression. And it’s progression that doesn’t raise your stats, which means no power creep.

It’s not progression because it doesn’t offer anything of value. It’s just a number going up. And rejoice! Suddenly you can see a mushroom that’s just like any other boss. I’m guessing that, I’ll never know. And it drops something you need for a collection for something I don’t want. That’s not progression, that’s the illusion of progression. And a bad illusion at that.

There’s hardly a place on the map that doesn’t show you a blocked feature when you pan 360 degrees and press CTRL or whatever key you defined to show features and enemies. It ridiculous beyond words. I won’t grace it with my presence.

And those collections, don’t get me started. I keep unlocking collection elements at every turn. Collections I have no interest in at all. I’d have preferred they kept all of them locked away until activated by an informed, conscious act. I don’t want my achievements tab cluttered with all that rubbish, it makes it harder to find the collections I do want to finish. But I guess there needed to be more illusions. Illusions of reward to go hand in hand with illusion of progress. Marvelous!

I don’t call the HoT mastery system “progression”. Putting up silly arbitrary restrictions all over the maps and then making people jump through hoops just to remove them, there are other words for that than progression, and none of them nice.

Putting stuff on the first map that you can’t even learn to “master” until you’re 5.8 million experience into the 3rd map is particularly heinous. It just annoys the kitten out of me that people I’m running around with doing stuff just pack up and leave to fight a monster I can’t even see, as soon as someone announces the event on mapchat.

Do you think I still want to go to VB when I get that 5.8 million xp, and kill a treasure mushroom after that? I’d tell them where to shove that mushroom but I’d get banned from the forums.

I’d have been perfectly happy if there had been some zones without the railroading meta event cycles, where freestyle exploration would be the name of the game. More difficult than central Tyria and with interesting things to find and to do. Areas people wouldn’t vacate as soon as they realize not enough people are doing the “thing”, so you’d not be confronted with being shuffled from closing map to closing map all the time. Areas not tied to the real-world clock.

I’d like to think that you’re right, but so far I’ve found that most of the challenge is being unexpectedly insta-downed (Axemaster) or kiting in a circle with auto-attack on for a couple of hours while a legendary or a a HC champion’s health pools crawl steadily downwards. Mordrem enemies are interesting, but are also not as common as the others.

The axemaster…

You need Nuhoch lore mastery at 4 to be able to see him when he does the insta down vine attack.

A boss that’s required to gain maximum rewards in the dreadful meta-cycle of the very first map, requires 4 levels in a mastery you can’t even unlock until you reach the 3rd map, before you can effectively contribute to cancelling his mass insta-down attack.

When I first met the guy, I needed 5.8 million more experience and I couldn’t even start earning it at that point. And then there was half a dozen people ranting and raging at two dozen clueless people that we needed to use CC on him.

If there’s a yearly prize ceremony for bad game design, this should surely get a nomination.

My rings are from fractals, other jewelry from laurel vendors, obviously. I crafted Mawdrey, several fractal capacitors and the bladed things whatever they’re called.

As for weapons and armor: I crafted some and I got some chest drops over the years that I thankfully kept in storage until the update that lets us change the stats. Oh, and I think I got an armor box when I completed the ambrite weapon collection.

I never bought any materials for them. I just save up until I have enough to make another piece. I have over a dozen weapons and 3 full armor sets (grand artisan) and some spare armor parts. I pretty much stopped bothering to really go for it after the 3rd full set.

I got a good headstart on the armors, by the way. I started stockpiling cloth and leather after ascended weapons were introduced because I expected a similar approach as for wood and metal for refining them into ascended materials. Luckily, I was right.
